Calorie counting and exercise (not exactly high tech but it work's - whodathunkit?)...i have to tape biggest loser...i'm freaking out 'cause amazing race is tonight, too. and i won't be home until like 9:30...have to figure out how to set two vcr's...which wouldn't be bad if both were currently connected to a tv.

HarleyMom 09-20-2005 05:59 PM

Star & Hat Chick omygosh you both have lost so much weight. You should be so proud. And I will say you are an inspiration to me to get it off! I am so sick of being a fat:moo:. I know I am going to lose it this time it just feels different attitude and all! I want to be a hot biker chick these days. My dh says I am spunky now. Star your profile picture is great. You don't look old at all. Did you take that after a lot of weight loss? I like your picture too Chick with you leather coat and helmet, cute.

Rebel
Keep up the good work it looks like you've lost a bit of weight too but I am not really sure how much as I can be sorta of a ditz sometime. Get to the class you won't regret it and you don't have to be an expert rider to take it. Although I do know someone who wrecked 3 times last month and they kicked her out and told her not to come back. Like flushing 200.00 down the old toilet as they will not refund her any cash. :( So make sure you don't crash, is the moral here, I guess.

Biggest Loser Love that show. Watched last week and also watched it last season when it came on. I have it taping every episode on my DVR. That way if I forget or if I am not home it will tape it for me automaticly. Modern technology it is a wonderful thing! I can not beleive the amount of weight those people lost in 10 days last week. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that. I guess when you focus on weight loss and excirse and watch everything you eat 24/7 that is what results you get. Not to mention who wants to embrass :o themselves on national TV.

Well Chicks have a good evening I'll catch you later!

Star 09-21-2005 10:16 AM

Hi Chicks,

Harleymom - That picture was taken when I was about 180 and two years ago on vacation. I need a newer one, but am challenged when it comes to downloading pictures on here and someone else did that one for me. Maybe I will get one with my leathers on or my workout clothes. I would really like to do a before and after.

Gina - Congrats - you have done so great...you'll be at goal in no time.
Harleymom - How much til you reach goal?
For me these last 15 pounds are soooooooooo damn hard, they are stuck like glue.

Reb - Where are you today? How is your workout plan coming, are you managing to keep it up? I just want to make sure your not doing too much too fast.....

Loved the Biggest Loser last night. Glad Kathryn got the boot, didn't like her, her injury or bad outlook. She didn't play nice...lol I was very surprised that Jillian made the big guys race her full speed stressing their already over worked joints and muscles. No wonder there was an injury, think they would know better wouldn't ya?

Hum - I wonder where Miss Holly is? Haven't heard from her since her little fender bender - hope she is okay.....

later...

Morning biker babes!

Star- Yeaah, I am sticking to my workout plan pretty well. I aim for 5 days a week, but really usually only get 4 days in. I'm still at 30 mins, though. Sometimes thats all I can do because of time issues. Physically I could do 45 mins. I like cardio best. Toning hurts!!! LOL!!

Last night I rode my bike after work. I rode around for an hour and a half. I am VERY proud of myself. I'll tell you all about it. I am kinda short on time at the moment...but I'll be back on in just a little bit.

LOVED the Biggest Loser last night. Thanks for reminding me! I can't believe they make people that large jump over weight benches...seems pretty hard on those joints that before the show probably didn't get much exercise...

Morning Gina, 2 Frustrated, and HarleyMom!!!

Hope you're doing ok Holly...

Be back in a while!

Star 09-21-2005 11:57 AM

Rebel - I hope you do come back, you have me wondering where you rode to in an hour and a half? Good for you , by the way!

Toning and weights do hurt (at first) and they take way more thought and concentration than cardio. But it will be very benificial for you in the long run.
Way to go....

rebelridergirl 09-21-2005 11:58 AM

Ok, so more about my riding experience yesterday...

I really think that I am learning how to shift and pretty smoothly. Downshifting is a little rough. I think that I am also doing pretty good about being on the road with other vehicles, too. Dh rides on his bike and follows me which does make me feel safer now. I am learning how to handle it better around some corners...nothing real tight, though, just gentle corners. Something that I have a HUGE problem with is taking off. I kill it! Especially if there's a vehicle behind us I get nervous and I can't get the damn thing to go. It was so frustrating. I guess I am just not giving it enough gas. I think that today I will take it to a parking lot and just practice, practice, practice stopping and going. At least I will be able to take my time and not irritate other motorists.

The good thing about getting out there last night really got me thinking about what kind of improvements I'd like to make on the Rebel. I have a dent (not put there by me) on the right side of the tank, so I want that fixed and repainted. I am thinking of a sparkly blue b/c my bike looks just like a mini Harley Softtail and thats the color of ours. Or I would paint it a dark purple, my favorite color. I really think it would be awesome to put some ghost flames on it, but not sure how much $ that costs. Also, I really to polish some rust spots or something. I will need highway pegs, so i need a crashbar and I might even put a sissy bar on, but I doubt anyone will ride with me! For some reason, don't laugh, I want tassles hanging off the handles too. Oh, and new mirrors...mine are horrendously ugly. I do have saddlebags on it and a windshield, so that's good. Dh wants to put extended forks on it so that it will look like a chopper. I think that would be pretty cool. We found them online at a Rebel catalog.

When and if I ever move up to a more powerful bike...I'm really thinking of a Lowrider...thanks to Star!

chick_in_the_hat 09-21-2005 11:59 AM

I still think they should be giving more coverage to what the contestants are eating...they spend a lot of time showing sweaty people. I agree that Kathryn needed to go...it's an individual effort - but it is also a team effort.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Matt...Jillian might be power tripping...come to find out Amazing Race doesn't start until next week...I am starting to think TIVO could be a plan. Right now we don't even pay for TV...we are still in rabbit ears mode...so last millenium. :0

rebel - WTG!! On the riding and the workouts!!

Star - I can prolly help with a new photo - send it to me at gmunro at msn.com

The at needs to to be an "@" but i don't want the spam bots getting even my junk email address..I already have enough male organ enlargement ads (!)

rebelridergirl 09-21-2005 12:00 PM

Oh, I just practiced going up and down streets in my neighborhood. I probably didnt go any further than 3 miles from home distance wise!

rebelridergirl 09-21-2005 12:03 PM

Hey Gina!

Yeah, TIVO does sound pretty cool. We finally just got cable a month ago. Life after cable is AWESOME!! LOL. We had the stupid rabbit ears, too and most of our channels wouldn't come through or were black and white. YUCK!

rebelridergirl 09-21-2005 12:05 PM

Oh, by the way...gosh dang I'm a pest today... I am leaving work at noon for an appointment, so I won't be online this afternoon at all. I will check back with you all this evening from home. Have a great afternoon ladies!

Star 09-21-2005 12:16 PM

Gina - Thanks for the offer, but I don't even have the pictures yet - I'll try to remember you said you'd help - thanks a bunch...
Rebel - You did make great progress on that bike! sounds like you plans to make it a chick-ride are awesome too, it should be totally hot when you get done!
I wish they would give more food details on Biggest Loser too. I mean, I know how to kick my a__ as far as working out. But I would love some really good eating tips, for everyday weight loss. Since the girls lost such a slight amount of weight it reinforces my belief that losing weight ain't easy......even with all the resources they have.

HarleyMom 09-21-2005 01:08 PM

Good Morning Ladies
I came home after daughters volleyball and watched bl it was good. Love my DVR just zipped right through all those pesty commercials. Did you see the size of those steaks those boys were cooking? WOW! I would gain 5 lbs from eating that thing. I was so glad to see Kathryn get the boot. I hated her red lipstick. That is not why I was glad she got the boot though she was injured and brought the team down. Anyhow I agree with you gals they should be showing what they are eating so you can get a better over all picture of what they are doing. I think it is becasue they want you to go the bl diet and spend $$$ getting there diet information. Not sure though.

I went to JC last night and have dropped another 1.8 lbs for a total of 26.4 lbs. 82 more to lose. My goal is 140 lbs. I might need to adjust that later I don't know I've been heavy so long I don't know what a good weight is for me.

Star I can not believe you weighed 180 in that picture you look thin to me. You also look darn good!

Rebel-
Good for you riding around and just practice, practice, practice. Remember do not let others rush you when your taking off. That is when a lot of bad things can happen. Ease that clutch out at all times. You never want to give it to much power you'll end up on the cement! Make people wait for you do what your comfort level is only. It is funny to me that your hubby rides behind you. Mine always rides in front and has since I started riding. He says he can watch me from his mirror. We ride side by side most the time now but I don't recomend it unless you really know and trust the other persons riding habits. I can usually tell what he is going to do just by looking at him but it has been a lot of years. Many of our friends ride with the lady up front. We saw a guy on the back of some chicks bike this summer and I thought my husband was going to have a stroke. It was so funny I was like did you see that and he was like oh my gosh who rides on the back of their old ladies ride. It was so funny I nearly peed myself. He said at least he could have been holding on to her breasts to make him look a little better, as he was holding on around her waist for dear life it looked like. Anyhow good luck with riding and just keep getting on.

Star 09-21-2005 01:17 PM

harley - Really nice loss, your doing awesome. How tall are you? I'm 5'7", I workout alot and have for 35 years (fat or thin)....lol
Yeah - I don't think I have ever seen a guy *****-ride......lol
Me and DH ride side by side too, if it gets real tight I drop back.....it's funny how all couples get their pattern down huh?
We do have afew chicks in our HD club that ride Ultra's and they are also on the road crew......
later...

HarleyMom 09-21-2005 02:06 PM

I am just short of 5'6". I don't have the work out thing down. I haven't done anything much in years. I sit at a desk all day long too which doens't help matters much. I need to get moving. I think my breaking piont was when we went to the mountains this summer and did a 1.5 mile hike. I thought I am going to have total heart failure trying to climb this mountain. I was the last one up and down but I made it and thought "I'll never struggle to do something like this agian I have got to lose some weight". A week later and went to JC and having been working on losing every day. I try not to go off program right now as I think it makes it harder to lose when your eating all over the place. I am just sticking to what they give me for now until I can develop some better habits and get used to eating the proper foods and amounts of foods. Never been much of a veggie eater but I am learning to like them. It helps feel you up.

We now have about two other ladies that ride with their husbands and are starting to come to some group events. I am glad I am not the only one anymore. My dh is the president of the Denver, CO chapter of Soldiers for Jesus. You should check out the web site it is pretty neat. There is a picture of everyone from last year in the location Colorado Denver chapter information place. The site is soldiersforjesusmc if your interested. If you do runs regular I wouldn't be surprised if you have run into one of the guys booths at events as they have over 22 chapters now and several international ones too.

Star 09-21-2005 02:18 PM

harley - I have come across several christian riders, can't remember the names of the groups though. That is very cool.....
There are tons of women riders here, there are many women only groups too. I don't belong to any of those..I kinda like the guy riders mixed in there...lol
if you were to add in some cardio to your JC plan you would probably lose alittle faster. What do they at JC say about exercise? At LAWL (where I go) they say I workout too much....I think maybe becuz muscle weighs more than fat. Plus if you workout more than alittle they have to adjust your calories intake.
Your right if your on a plan like JC or LAWL it's best to stick to their plan and rules 100% becuz if you don't they can't be held responsible if you don't lose like they said you would. Good for you!
