  • Jill, I'm jealous! We've had so much cold and snow in Colorado that it's really getting old. Have a wonderful time! Those of us in the cold regions will be with you in spirit. :-)

    Thanks for the welcome, everyone.

We got more snow the past couple of days, but not enough to make a difference. But ... there's still a lot of gravel on our streets, and piles of snow and ice along the sides of the roadways, so I'm a little nervous about taking the bike out. I'm hoping for a warm weekend so we can go for a ride--finally.

I noticed that you were in Colorado, HarleyMom. I don't know about you, but I haven't been on my bike for three months. The past two winters I rode every month. This really sucks. I'm using all my free time to cook lots of healthy foods for the DH and me. I guess that's one advantage. I don't much like to cook in the summer.
  • OK,I want to wish you all a happy weekend. Have a great one all and keep on keep'n on!
  • Good morning all. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 60's. I'm gonna get to practice riding hehe. It will be the first time since we bought my bike the end of January. I have new saddle bags on the way. I guess as a Vday present from the dh cuz I didn't get anything else. Vday here sucked. He had a crap few days at work and wasn't much in the mood for anything but sitting around.

He did take me to see Ghost Rider last night. Awesome movie ladies. Go see it. I loved it.
  • Guess what. I bought new clothes over the past couple of days. Just a couple of things and they are a smaller size again!!!!!!! My jeans were 16's and two shirts one was a 16 the other a 14/16. With the stores around here once I drop down to a solid 14 I drop out of their plus sizes. wooohoooo!!!

I also rode my bike yesterday. Got tired of waiting on the hubby and the weather to cooperate together so I took her out on my own. Just up and down my street but I got to ride her.

Ok, so I have had a couple of really good days and am feeling great. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
  • Hi Chickies! I'm Baaaaaaak!

Yep...had a pretty nice time in S. Florida this past weekend, although it was really COLD by our standards with highs in the FIFTIES!!! Yes.....FIFTIES! But....we chapped up and rode like the wind anyway...had a nice ride to their local Harley shop and bought a few more chrome accessories (bling!) for our new blue baby...also rode down to Jupiter and had cocktails at a sweet little tiki-bar kind of place along the intracoastal across from Alan Jackson's home. They say he comes across the water every now and then to see how the poor people entertain themselves and I kept watching, but I guess it was too chilly for him to row across the waterway. Yes...he slips over in a ROW BOAT!!!

Anyway.....I'm going to try eating nothing but cereal and fruit for the next few days....and stay away from that dam Captain Morgan and his baaaaaad influences.

On Wednesday it's going to be EIGHTY...yes, eight-zero degrees....YIPPPPPEEEEEE!!!....and we're going to ride to Clearwater Beach to visit a friend who has escaped their snow-covered house for a week. Glad our cold snap is over so it's nice for her. This should be the last of the cold for us this year, but with El Nino wreaking havoc on all of us....who knows!

Harley & Jukie, glad to hear you two have some sun on the way, I know how hard this winter has been for you. I'm hoping you both get a little break and can get out there and ride. I know that you can sometimes have a few warm days in February, and maybe you'll get some this year.

Wannab....YOU GO GIRL!! You are a shopping crazy woman in those smaller sizes! Isn't it just the greatest feeling in the world to slide into something right off the rack in the NO-FAT section??!!! And you got to ride your new bike too>>>>>What a fabulous weekend for you! And also a date to see Ghostrider? I want to see that...and also Hog Wild when it comes out. Our HOG group is putting together a couple of "Dinner and a Movie" nights where we'll meet and ride to dinner.....then on to the theater to see these movies. Isn't that a great idea?

Well....I hear my laundry calling, so will hop off here. Have a great day everyone!

  • Hello all!

Popping in to see how you're doing! My scales are being friendly, my bike is happy although we did have an incident with a cager on Saturday and I'm pleased to report that my breaks work. Very well! I shouted a lot

I'm joining a boxing club on Wednesday I'm quite excited about it really - I will get to actually FIGHT other people! So I'll be kickboxing and boxing One should help the other and vice-versa I will look like a right girl though - I've got pink boxing gloves I suppose I should go there all sweet and innocent and hair in pig-tails and a pretty pink, tight Lonsdale top and be all giggly, then knock their teeth in!
  • Good day everyone,

Flsun I'm glad to hear you had such a great time and even more fun coming up. You will love Ghost Riders and a dinner movie night sounds great. My kids were down in Orlando last week with their grandparents and while they had 70's during the day we had snow coming down. Something just didn't seem fair with that.

You are right I am loving the shopping. In some stores I am still plus size but in others I am out of them. I love that but will love it even more when I am out of them all together. Another 48 lbs and I will be able to wear my 14yr olds jeans. hehehe. She doesn't quite like that idea. Of course my kids have never seen me as anything but heavy.

As far as riding this weekend. Saturday I did fine on my own just going up and down my street fairly straight lines and all. No turns to make really. Well Sunday afternoon the hubby took me out to practice at the high school which is just across the street so we took both bikes. I am having trouble not leaning my bike and just trying to turn it. He keeps trying to show me but has run out of ideas. Anyway on our way home I had to make a right turn onto our street and I didn't lean the bike and got fixated on the curb and took the bike over the curb and laid her down in somebody's front yard. Broke my wind screen but that was the only damage done to anything. Hubby started to pick her up but the angle she was at I had to help him. He got her back across the street put me on her and had me ride her home. We then took a ride on his bike. Later on I made him take me out on mine to practice again. This time we didn't go where I would have to make any right hand turns to come home. Then he took me for a ride on mine so I could see more of what my bike is capable of. He has told me that he is proud of me for getting back on and not being afraid to do so. I think that kinda surprised him. He says he wasn't sure what I would do but secretly I think he thought that after I laid her down I was done. I just wanna learn to ride so I can ride with him.

Anyway I'm off work today and got some errands to run, and laundry to do. At some point I think I am going to take her out again on my own today and he has promised to take me out again tonight if it is still warm enough when he gets home.

Everyone have a great day and stay strong. Stick to your goals and plans and we will all get there.
  • Gosh Wannab, glad you're OK after your little incident....remember this: DO NOT LOOK DOWN!! Good for you for getting right back on your bike.

And 2Frus....we want a picture of you in all of your Pink Glory before you kick a$$!! We have an airhorn...what a great invention! I don't have a problem "horning" everyone who tries to kills us on our bike!
  • Hello chicks!! welcome Jukie! sorry I'm so late in welcoming; after the THIRTY INCHES OF SNOW that we got last week, we didn't have Internet access for a few days.

wannabe, I'm so glad that you weren't deterred by your little mishap! good for you! I think that shows that you are gonna be a great rider!

hi Jill! woohoo to more bling for that new bike, and it's so great that you are doing so many great rides with your friends.

2frust, I love the idea of you being glammed and girlied up before you knock the stuffing out of your opponents

Hi harleymom! thanks to your ongoing advice of 'keep on keepin on" I am FINALLY down three pounds! that puts me in the 160's range finally. I am so encouraged now.

Hi Rebel! what's happening with you?

Back to the snowstorm - it was a recordbreaker! And we finally bought a snowblower! it works so great!!!! for twenty years we shoveled our drive by hand. No more!

So now I have renewed determination to stay the course and keep on keepin on!!
  • Hey chicks!

Just wanted to stop in super quickly and tell everyone hi!

    Wannb- Thank goodness you're ok!

    2fru- Enjoy the boxing club

Jill- Your weekend sounds sooooo fun! I may have to move to Florida one of these days! LOL.

HarleyMom- Hey chick! Hope you had a good weekend.

    Holly- 30 inches???? Yowsa!

    Jukie-

I lost another 3.5 pounds this week at weigh in!! That's a total of 10pounds. I have a long way to go, but it's a great start!
  • Reb.... I am SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!!! That 10 pound loss is huge, and such wonderful news!!!!!

Holly....You are giving me a good race....I still can't break into the 160's....I just keep losing and gaining the same 2 or 3 pounds. Am trying to eat mainly cereal and fruit this week, hoping for a little kick into the 160's before we cruise. OMG...it's just 16 days til we leave!!!
  • Well ladies sounds like you all had great weekends! Congrats on the losses to everyone!

My DH went out on the bike on saturday. Him and 3 friends got about 20 miles outside of Denver and realized it had snowed a lot more out of town on Friday then in. They were driving in two inches of snow on the highway and getting sprayed with mag cloride. I guess they got where they were going and there were only 4 other bikes there. They are crazy! The snow plower that was out sprayed them all with his plow.

Well Chicks I am super busy but wanted to say hi! Keep on Keep'n on all you hot biker babes!
  • good morning biker chicks!

Rebel - CONGRATULATIONS! Ten pounds is awesome!!! way to go!

Harleymom - good lord, your husband and his friends are HARDCORE!!! tell them this snowbound Vermont chick says they rule! How do they clean their bikes after? heated garage that has heated running water?

Jill - I don't know where my will power is coming from but I am GLAD its finally kicking in!! I might be down another pound. I'll wait a few more days to see if it's true but honest to g*d, just seeing the scale finally back into the 160's range is SO SO encouraging. It's what I think of when I start to think of reaching for something I don't need.

Hello 2 frust! tell us more about the incident withthe cager? or just that we're all thankful that you're a good enough rider to avoid someone else's stupid actions.

Hi Gina! Hi wannabe! hi Jukie!

today I'm gonna shop online for new bike boots. I found some, Wilwaukee brand, that are motorcycle specific (lug soles, oil and skid resistant soles, full cushion liner that is removeable for washing). Just have to decide which style. I would love something a little sexier like the Harley Pavement, but their soles are smooth...obviously made afor a passenger, not the operator. We need soles that help us stay put when we put our feet down on that slick pavement.

Need to finish up here and then work out!

I am SO so psyched about my teeny loss
  • I finally got out for a ride Sunday. YAY!!!!! It started out as a fairly warm day. I went for a walk with just a light jacket and came back sweating. So I told the hubby, quick, let's get the bikes out and go! By the time we got ready, though, it had dropped down to 38 degrees. We decided to go, anyway.

It was pretty cold. Since I've put on weight, my winter riding pants are too tight, so I wore silk longjohns under my jeans and wore my rain pants over them to cut the wind. But my legs were still practically frozen. We were only out for an hour, but oh boy was it wonderful! Today it's 55 degrees and sunny and beautiful, but I have conference calls at work all day, so I can't get out. If it's nice tomorrow, I'm taking a lunch-hour ride.

I'll tell you, getting out on a ride is better than anything else for my psyche (well, with the exception of losing weight, maybe). :-)

Congratulations, Holly! Isn't it great to see the numbers going down instead of up? :-) I've lost 13 pounds so far (about 50 to go), but I'm finally letting myself think about getting some chaps this summer. I've put it off because I didn't want to get any while I was still fat.

    That's terrific! Congratulations!
