  • Of course we are the coolest - well you Canadians are anyway
I'm just not sure why we are suddenly Holly's pick of the week as the coolest chicks around. Apart from the fact that we are fun, honest, happy, friendly, good looking, real, bright and dedicated, that is. Not that I mind at all. It's not often a young chick like Holly thinks I am cool! Maybe I should show this to my niece and nephew. Your bookclub sounds good. Your turn to host it next, how does the DH feel about that. He may decide to put the last of the tiles on the bathroom walls so you will be left in peace. What will you give them for supper?

Actually it's not cool around here at all, as Suzi pointed out. We haven't had a night under 23C since I can't remember when. I have been leaving the fan on overnight to move the air around and get a bit of a breeze. Doesn't cool things down too much but hey any movement is better than nothing.

Teel, what!?!?!?!?%$&*((&^%. Were you getting out of the shower or something and were wet or damp? Oh you poor thing. Rest up and look after yourself. My toothache has been behaving over the past couple of days. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow at 11.00am so will go to that after the Pilates class. They will have to put up with me being smelly and hot.

Melly, the problems you have with that office! !!!!#$%#^#. Glad the bus driver took you around the long way home. Winter is dragging on too long for many of you. Time to come out of hibernation and breathe the air again.

Had a good trip to the gym this morning. Mind you I did wake up early and feel absolutely full of beans, tore around the place, checked out this site, threw some more washing in the machine and shot off to the gym - all by 5am. Got to work around 7am. P is mumbling and grumbling again. All these things going wrong. Frankly he is not pulling his weight. C has had a job offer for after the project ends and is happy about it but not everyone else will be so I am told to keep this secret under my hat as well. This flaming hat is going to be brim full of secrets at this rate. Happy families. The manager came up from Sydney yesterday, looks like he is intending to wrap up the project early. Well that wont look bad on his personnel file. Remains to be seen whether the rest of the workers are as happy with the project outcome as he is. Now I will have to start looking around for more work. A friend from Melbourne days sent me an ad for working in the Netherlands today. Will have to think it over during the weekend. I can't do anything before end of March anyway. Just have to think about it and decide whether I want to try for this or not. Maybe just send my resume CV in and see what happens. If nothing happens the decision is made for me. If something happens will make a decision then.

Anyway better stop rambling. Thoughts are not in sync with the brain tonight. Think it might be an early night for this chick. Oooops I hear thunder, better go and see if I can rescue some of the washing. Kia kaha
  • Hey Miss Shad your little egg is all lit up so Good afternoon to you!! How did it go at the dentist this morning? I hope it soon gets sorted for you once and for all m'dear!!
Well done on not murdering the boys in the pffice. I am pleased for C. that he has a job offer to think about. He should be a good act for the other 3 to follow, especially P. by the sound of it!! What do you think of this Netherland offer then?If you are that near in the summer perhapa you really could join Linus and me in Edinburgh That would be so, so great!!

Oh by the way, I don't really know what I was up to slipping over like that...it was about 02:00hrs and I was on my way to the kitchen to get a drink....I darn well wish I'd just ignored my feelings of thirst, now!!

Linus have you gone into hiding? Or are you all buried under a snowdrift? :sman: :snf: :sball:I do hope you are all alright and have been out celebrating DS's great exam results. Great luck to him for his apprentice exams in the next couple of weeks.

HOLLYHOCK thats some exciting news you have there...may be wirking in London?I suppose you mean UK London do you? Or have you got another London in the States??What is that book about? "Fall on your knees" by Anne Marie McDonald? Good luck with your book The Life Of Pi...I have seen it in the shops quite a lot but never read it...one day, one day I will get round to all the unread books in the bookcase!!!

Well I am pleased to say my challenges are doing rather well this week I have kept to the "1 glass of fizzy stuff per day" so we will just have to wait another couple of days to see what the weight loss is....

Bye all, take care those in the snow!!! :sman: :snf: :sball:
  • Oh dear, Shad the cool reference was about you thinking we are scaring people off. I just dont get it.
I have often wondered if I have a problem because I relate to and enjoy people 15+ years older than me and then little kids. I miss my whole generation in there. They bug me. With the exception of a few.
Teel~ I was born and raised In London, Ontario , Canada, at the forks of the Thames, yup, origional. I now live in the country about 45 min away. Between 2 hamlets called Nairn and Ailsa Craig....very scottish farming community. Not very origional either.
  • Holly~ Glad the meeting went so well what was the book like???
Pray tell us a wee bit! Hope the day is a happy one and you both get good news soon.

I feel much better having gone to bed early last night. fighting can be exhausting. I had a wave of incredible tiredness come over me last night and could barely stay awake. But it was a "good" tired if you know what I mean. I have a LOT of points this week but need to know WHAT DAY WE START AND END ON???? I have asked the question a few times but no one answers! boo hoo boo hoo!
Today is a slow day and maybe one load of wash just to keep up with it. I feel the need for calmness.....no not speed! \
Have a great day and take good care of yourselves!
  • ive been working on the assumption that we finish on a sunday and start again on the monday for the thread but the journals are sunday start and saturday finish??? i think
must clarify with shad but just work out your own points for the week and ill work them in
    kirsty
  • Mel ~ I love the good tired feeling!! Do we need to send you boxing gloves for in the office??
Shad~ the Netherlands sounds exciting! For how long would it be?
    Teel~ How is the ankle?
Linus~ you popped in but how are you feeling??
Meadow? Suzi? Happy? I hope Nae is finding some peace on her trip away!!

Lots of thoughts...good morning... book report... lime green and looking forward to the weekend.
My kids were super tired and sobbing this morning. I am hoping thier day got better.
I had a good morning with the 4 toddlers. 2 have gone home, 2 are napping. Dh is getting his pay and meeting a new builder. The critters and I are alone. I just laid on the floor with eyes closed, "listened" to All My Children and did some stretches. Gave the kitty a good brushing. He was my first baby. A gorgeous long haired silver tabby with a snow white mane and tummy. He will be 16 next week. MEOW!!
I keep thinking I want to paint my livingroom a lemon lime green. The previous owners put a deep mauve carpet in the room to sell the house, weird. So I painted the walls the same colour. It has been 5 years with 2 -8 kids all day every day. It is sticky, dinged up and feeling tired. I just recovered the cushions of a golden maplewood sofa and chair with caramel oelifin. So can I have green walls, purple rug and caramel furnitue??? hmmmm. It is big and bright. The toyroom and bathroom are a dijon mustard yellow, the diningroom is pumpkin orange with a burnt orange wash and the kitchen is navy and cherry wood. I am feeling very green. Is green a mood?

Some have asked… I read Fall on Your Knees by Anne Marie MacDonald for the book club. It is a first novel, published in 1996. It takes place at the turn of the last century in Cape Breton Island , Canada and New York City.It is a epic that follows the lives of a family and some towns folk. It covers a lot of social and racial issues of the times, there is incest, abuse.....It is written in a intriguing style that keeps you thinking all the time.It is a big read with lots of twists and turns. It is a dark story but one with moments of humour, joy and I felt hope at the end.Very strong female characters. The human journey.
Her newest novel is loosely based on a true story in a small town about 15 min from where we live. I will read that too.

I am enjoying the quiet right now. I am doing DD’s laundry for her weekend away.
I am going to stay home tomorrow morning and rest and clean and then go to the other games for the hockey tournament. I really need a break.
I am teaching SS this week 9 am Sunday.Hockey at 1pm.

I picked up 7lb roasting chickies for $7 each!!! We will have one tonight. My fav meal with roasted carrots, celery, onion and potato for DH. Got some more ww pasta for a buck a box too.

I had a nice visit with some Moms at the play group. We are going on a field trip on Wed to the sugar bush. I LOVE that.

I didn’t snack last night and I have eaten OP today!
    I am chatty today!
45 min till the bus. I am going to lay down and veg again.

    Have a nice weekend.
  • Linus Luv why not make it easier on yourself and make them both the same. I have no objection to you two picking the start and finish days. Thanks for the answer! Hope the mouth is better.(((((HUGS))))))
  • Holly~ gues we posted together...mine finally went through!!! Thanks for the book report I was very interested as I heard someone else mention that book recently in my town. I just wrote in your journal a few minutes ago Have a great weekend!
  • It was originally supposed to be Saturday to Friday, but I changed it once and now no one, including me, seems to know when it starts and ends. Just tell everyone to tell you how they did for their week. Results in on Sunday night and when you feel Sunday has finished around the world then make a decision. Just to alleviate any confusion, the day finishes at worlds end in the Aleutian Island Archepelago and Rarotonga. Which are 24 hours behind Fiji and NZ who are the first to see the light (sometimes I think in more ways than one). No-one is going to take to you with the cattle prod if you get it wrong. If they try, refer them to me. I'm a mean mummy.

Good morning all anyway. Looks like we are coming up for yet another scorcher today. Suzi will be pleased (not). The sun has just risen, I was having a really good sleep in this morning until the cat decided on a couple of things - like I want to go out, I want to come in, I want to eat!!! I have a feeling that I need to get some worm tablets for her. Will fix that today.

Teel, the fall must have hurt your head too. Dentist is this morning. I am looking forward to it. I have a lot of questions to ask as well. Hope there is some time when he is not stuffing my mouth with metal and cotton well. Hard to enunciate those vowels when you can't move the tongue, jaw or lips.

Doom and gloom in the news this week about interest rates being on the rise again all due to the American economy being on it's way down, or up in the case of debt rising. So the first thing the economists do here is raise the interest rates on the housing sector. This doesn't worry me too much as I have a very small mortgage left on this place. Mine will be gone within two years no matter how high the rate goes. It does worry me for DS2 sake as he has a hefty mortgage on his place. Still it has a long way to go before it reaches the dizzy heights it did here not long after we came over.

Holly, I'm glad to hear the DH finally got his act together and decided to quit the job. I'm sure that he will find work much better suited to him in the near future. The Church work may be interesting for him, but I've always found they are cash strapped and can never find enough for important preventative repairs so they are always chasing their tails doing patch up reactive stuff. That would annoy me, probably would the DH as well.
Lemon/ lime and purple with caramel. Well I have heard of worse combinations. It could be an interesting look.

My tomato plants have little tomatoes growing all over them. I am amazed at their success. The baby beetroot have leaves full of holes from the bugs and the lettuces are just not doing much at all. Half of them just grew a few inches and then raced off to seed. The others are sitting there doing nothing. So much for my summer garden. The roses are looking tired and bug eaten. The flowers are not doing much and are much smaller than usual, and I think I have killed the Double Delight rose. Darn it. Just Joey looked dead until a couple of weeks back but is now shooting again. I'll leave the other one there until late winter when the new roses are out. No shoots, I'll replace it. No doubt about it, gardens here do not like summer unless one is around to spray, water, feed constantly.

Don't know much about the Netherlands job other than what I said last night. Don't even know if I want it much. That sounds strange coming from a constant traveller. I'm just enjoying being home at the moment. However I know that it may not last after this contract anyway. I'll probably throw my hat in the ring and just see what gives. Not the hat with the secrets. That one has to stay on my head. Men are strange critters.

An on that note, I'll bid you all farewell for the time being. It's breakfast time. Time to get on with the day and fill it with joy and song and wring the bloody life out of it. Energy levels feel high. Let's see what we can achieve in that case! Have a good one.
  • hey chickies just another quick post from me ,for some strange reason i cant keep my eyes open at the moment just sleep eat and wee but thought id better pop in and say hi and let you know im fine and theres nothing wrong with anyone {unless i sleep right through meal times then dh might poison them }but i will be back tomorrow full of chat and wideawakedness bye for now chickies
    kirsty
  • HI chickies, very quick post to let you know you are all in my thoughts, Shad sending you icey thoughts...cool weather that is. Linus hoping you are sick free today, Holly hoping the Job prospects go well, Teel Praying that your ankle with heal quickly, Mel peace for you...you don't need arguments. Hope you enjoyed your little spree.
Me I'm off for a girly night at a thai restaurant, A good friend is turning 50, should be so much fun. I love Thai food and I have been a good girl today so I can treat myself.
Enjoy your Sundays. I'm buzzing because I have a new laptop to play with and don't have to wait for DH to get off his.
    Toodles!
  • Shad~ Thanks for the dates. Having been off it for 2 weeks, I forgot!
Linus~ Wake up!!! I had the same problem for 2 days now. But then YOU are sleeping for two!!!!
Suzi~ Hope the Thai thing was great. good to have girls nights!
jen and I have girls afternoons!!!

Well I got some medicine for my nail in my eye yesterday! Needless to say the day ended on a sour note. Started my drops again at the advice of the local emergency room. they felt sorry for me as it would mean an ambulance to get me there! Lights, sirens and ambulance men!!! Anyway, it feels better today. Just not going to make it worse by staying on the PC so I'll see you tomorrow.
    Have a wonderful weekend
  • Suzi~ very exciting!! Enjoy your new toy and dinner out!!
Shad~ this is the months where we start our seeds indoores for palting at the end of may, weather permitting. We were still getting frost last year. I didn't get my tomatoes in til mid June.I love picturing the little fruit on your plants. mmmmmmm
Mel~ ouch. be careful and get those drops happening!!!
Linus~ was it a restful sleep??
Happy thoughts to everyone! Pop in to chat!!
    Blatant decadence for me!!!
I slept in till 10am. Weeeeeeeeheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! My face is all puffy and sleep creased. The house is quiet.I even let the fire go out. I am sitting in the quiet drinking coffee #2. Oh what to do ,what to do.
My freedom is limited. I will leave at 2pm for the hockey tournament. The boys are spending the whole day there to watch all the other games. DH laughed at my lack of tournament ettiquette. *giggle* Who knew you were supposed to stay and watch. I saw it as time wasted. *more giggles*
There is a TON of tidying and cleaning to do from all the kids this week and post flu bug. I have been very tired in the eves and have not gotten much done. I was smart enough to know my body needed the rest so that is what I did. I have also been snacking a bit a night but i am wondering if my body needed that too. My snacks have been healthy. I have maintained my loss, so this week I will focus more on the not snacking and exercise, although i did put in several hours of shovelling this week!! I love exercise with an obvious purpose. As opposed to just bettering my health. LOL!
DH is starting with a new builder on Monday! We are still hoping for a call about the church job. It was still listed today and it is going to a committee, it may be a while.
DH is very keen for it. He was silly and lighthearted last night. We laughed a lot!!!
I had a hottub at the folks when dropping DD off, mmmmm. I chanted ohm while in there. It “scares” my Mom, seriously freaks her out. My Dad laughs his *** off. I enjoy that too. Rotten kid.ROFL!!!!!!! My Mom thinks I have all kinds of harrassment coming from my 2. My Dad thinks they are screwed because I have tried or done everything imaginable at least once and they dont stand a chance. It will be fun to see how it plays out.ROFL again!!!
I should look and see what I am teaching at SS tomorrow and then tidy up, dust vacuum, scrub a couple of toilets.Hmmmmmm , what tunes shall I listen to.......70’s mix, 80’s heavy metal, Rod the Bod, Kalan has been sold out in the stores here for weeks, I refuse to pat $45 online. My life is just so complicated* giggle*. Gawd I am hilarious today.

BTW on the John Tesh radio show last night he talk about Emotional Inteligence. It was interesting. There is a link at Tesh.com.

    See ya Later!
  • My Challenge Results
I start Sunday and go to Saturday.
I only have 2 points for not eating after 7. Bah!
As for exercise I did not do 30 min each day but I did do over 1 hour of shovelling 3 nights. So you chicks can decide if I can can count this as 3 or 6. It is a HARD cardio workout. It is good for the arms, shoulders and legs too. The piles are up to my shoulder.
  • It is Saturday night here and I have two points for weights this week, it could possibly be three by tomorrow as the weekends seem to be an easier go for me to focus on myself I never did get to the "Walk away the pounds" tape as there were two huge baskets of laundry to be sorted and put away and well you know that was a downer that put me off (the end of the bed space is my exercise area, odd that it always seems to be jammed up with something ) Hugs to Mel and her poke in the eye uch: I dearly hope that those eye drops do the trick and heal you. Holly you make me shudder, just the thought of all those kids wanting something and yelling and carrying on, blessings on your patience Teel no more pirouettes in the dark I hope you are feeling improved. Linus how are you feeling? Are you managing to have a bit of solid food to eat now? How is your mouth? Still sore I'll bet ain: Shad sending you some frosty air and a cool, icey drink of some delicious rum in a pineapple :yum: (don't mind me, alcoholic tendencies ) I still wish I had your organizational skills and ability to get the exercise in regardless of the barriers. Suzi, a new laptop? How lucky are you! :jealous: I want one :baby: Did you have a blast with the pals at the Thai restaurant? I want something spicey now, hot chili sauce anyone?
