  • Great posts and some really nice days! Holly and Suzi sound about as happy as two can get!!! Good for you both and have a great week. Hope they are computer problem free!

Linus~ I am so sorry to see you sick like this with the mouth thing. Hope it gets better soon. Have you tried salt water....but only a tiny amount. don't want to make anything worse. Keep us posted.

Day 4 has begun and I can hardly believe it's going by so quickly. But I got a lot accomplished. My Back is better but not 100%..... my own fault. But I can live with it! Jen took the bird upstairs and my 2 finches haven't shut up since he left! Probably glad he's gone too. Everytime they would make their mating call, Jen's cockatiel would yell at them!
Sunny and cold but I'll take the sun. The agenda is light cleaning and cooking. Need to grill some chicken and make a salad too.
Have a great weeK! All bright and shiny and new!
  • Linus/Shad~ are we starting on Saturday and reporting in on Friday nights??? I forget!!! Going for the big 14 this week!
  • I just had a YUMMY pesto wrap with grilled chicken, refried beans, plain yogurt, spinach leaves and homemade salsa and then a handful of good grapes.
Church was nice. I held a 4 day old baby girl. MMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Nae~ I have been thinking of you. Sorry for the loss of your friends. It becomes a reflective time ,doesn't it. Hope you are at peace with their passing.

Teel~Sounds like a wonderful swim. Sorry for the loss of your friend too.
Hope your Holly is okay and that you had a nice visit with your friend. Winter is back here with a vengence. lots of snow, wind and cold temps.

Meadow~ congrats on getting the workouts in. That is my goal for this week too.

    Linus~ How you feeling today??

Mel~ the R&R and puttering sounds just right keep it up!!!

Shad~ a virtuous wardrobe!! Nice. Hope you are having a great day.

Miss Suzi~ I saw your journal yesterday. Glad you made it back unscathed!!
Glad you are having a nice time with your hubby.Missed you!

    Who's missing??

Off to tidy the house. Sounds like DH is taking the kids skating at 2.

I could take my lunch and water with me and stay out all day!!!

  • Sad News
Hi Ladies I love to come here and read good thoughts from each of you thankyou..... you will not believe this as I can hardly breathe because of it. A friend of mine lost her 15 year old son in a snowboard competition yesterday. I am so saddened for the family..... I know God is Good and wise but this is so painful.
I don't mean to bring such sadness here but wanted you to know.... I have a difficult week ahead with work and meetings and funerals.... send me good thoughts as I think of all of you too!
Blessings and enjoy each day we are given...... Live Strong.......
    Peace
    Nae
  • OH Nae. Thoughts, prayers, lots of hugs to you and you friends. How incredibly sad.I wish you peace in coping with all of your losses.
  • OMG! I can hardly think this through....Nae, I am so very sorry for you. Words really are failing me this time. So much sadness in one week. My thoughts and prayers are with you and those families. He was so young. I am sure they will all need your comfort and I send thoughts of strength to you. Take care.
  • For Holly~
Vegetable Quiche Cups To Go (SBD) Phase 1
1 pkg.~10 oz. of frozen chopped spinach
3/4 cup of liquid egg whites
    3/4 cup shredded reduced-fat cheese
1/4 cup diced green bell pepper
    1/4 cup chopped onion
3 drops of hot pepper sauce(optional-I don't use this)

micro the spinach for 2 1/2 mins on high to thaw and then drain off the excess liquid.
Line a 12 cup muffin pan with foil cups. Spray the cups with cooking spray.
Combine the egg substitute, cheese, peppers, onions and spinach in a bowl. Mix well. Divide equally among the cups. Bake at 350* for 20 minutes, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. (they feel firm then too)

These quiche cups can be frozen and reheated in the micro. Any combo of veggies and reduced-fat cheeses can be used.

I make this in a loaf pan and slice it up for the week. I used asparagus, onion and spinach and it was great! I used mozzarella a LOT!! and I sprinkled a bit of parmesan/romano on top! YUM YUM! I have also used Mrs. Dash flavors. You can really change this around enough so you don't get tired of it. I use real eggwhites and toss the yolks. It was cheaper.
    Have fun!

  • Rose - so so sorry to hear about your friends son. It seems such a shocking waste of a young life to go so young. My thoughts and sympathies go out to his family.

Haven't been around much this weekend. Seems I have either been too busy or asleep. I've decided I am becoming boring. Nothing but more work on the horizon as well. Boring, boring, boring. But........ I'm not as boring as DS1 who has been working 14hours/ 7 days for the past couple of months. He was even at work when I called him at 9.00pm last night (Sunday). Now that's boring. However he tells me he is off to Singapore at the end of this project roll out. Drat. I want to go too!!!

Okay, bed calls. I've been doing a lot of PR work tonight for my boys. They need to get out and about and talk to others who know what gives in the Plant Maintenance world of SAP. I've been drumming up some of my network connections.

Hope everyone is doing okay. No doubt the Linus will be back soon with the crowning ceremony - that is if she is feeling well enough. Poor soul - I'm having enough problems with one tooth. She's had eight out.
  • Oh Nae, Im so very sorry for your friends loss. It is hard to even put into words.
It has made my futile day fall into insignificance! ( and my silly problems)
I wish you peace tonight and many prayers. Your friend will need you.
suzi...I'm off to cuddle a 13 yr old!
  • Firstly a big hug and loads of prayerful thoughts to Nae after her sad and shocking news over the weekend. I think everyone concerned must still be reeling with the shock. How awful for you all. I know it is hard to find a reason for The Lord's hand in this but as you say..everything is worked out in His season. Keep your hand in His and be chersished and peace will come your way.

And a big hug to Kirsty who now has an infected mouth through all her tooth extractions...OUCH!!! I do hope that your visit to the dentist this lunchtime proves a LOT more fruitful and even as fast as later on this evening you will start to feel the benefit. I hear you are in the thick of blizzards and icy conditions...well just you please be very careful...I don't want to come up and see you all neatly dressed in a p.o.p. 'cos you have broken something vital to everyday life...like your nose!!!!Seriously though, please mind how you go...

Shad How is your tooth now? Still being problematic by the reading of your posts. I do really hope you get that sorted very soon...it must be driving you barmy. Do you get "Oil Of Cloves" over there? Apparently that is very good for toothache...I think you put a drop of the oil on the gum around the tooth concerned and it is supposed to ease the pain...older folk tend to swear by it at any rate!!

We are back into winter weather with a vengeance since the weekend. It has snowed qiute a lot and then melted during the day and then snowed all over again making everywhere lovely and slushy and slippery...yuk!!
It is Holly's 8th birthday tomorrow!! Doesn't seem that long ago at allasince I first got her aged 91/2 weeks and she could fit in the palm of my hand!!
Bad week for points this week...I have gained 1 lb and only got 4 points for getting out. This week I have changed the challenge round slightly..still 1 point for every 1lb loss and part 2 is to only drink 1 glass of the fizzy stuff per day.Thank you to Linus for doing all the accounting for us all. I think she deserves a crown just for taking on That challenge in itself!!
Hi to Mel...love the "Mel-mobile"!!! Nice recipe too
Hollihock sounds like you had a good weekend and it must have been great to watch DS playing. He sounds really good. Sorry too for your friend who has been so horribly bereaved. Sometimes it is SO hard to underatand life and all its concepts.
Suzi in Auz...lovely to see you here.So much for the"computer experts" eh??Sometimes I think we would do far better if they just left well alone!!:sress:

Right, I am off out into the frezing xoold to post a handful of letters before I miss the post....bye bye for now, take good safe care everone...
  • HAPPY PRESIDENT'S DAY TO THE YANKS!
Another wonderful "vacation" day for me!!! YAY!!!
Woke up to a beautiful Winter Wonderland and decided right away it must be a Harry Potter dvd day! Even the birds are jumping around watching the snow blow and chirping away.
    Wish I could talk Birdy.
My food, water and exercise have been as close to perfect as I think I can get since Thursday. I am just glad to be back down to where I started from.

Shad~ Hope the boys find and get some good ideas or whatever they are supposed to be getting. You're whole job boggles my mind! DS1 must get very tired with all those hours?!?!?!
Sounds like he takes after his Mum though! Have a wonderful week. Even if you think it's boring

Suzi~ nothing is insignificant when it is in your own life. Hope the cuddle was a great one! They grow so quickly.

Linus~ Thanks for posting the challenge. I don;t know why you would want to do this while you're in pain and pregnant! If you should want to stop...just say the word. I'll be perfectly honest here.....I did not volunteer because people don't even want to post their own points on time and you have to search!!!

OK it's time to start the day OFF the computer!!! there is a life after solitaire and games!
  • Hello and good morning to Miss MEL right now as I see you egg is alight...keep warm...happy Presidents day too!!!
  • MIS TEEL!!! I see your egg was on too but got an alarm. Just got back from answering it...a false alarm so it was good. While I was there I helped her sort the mail. another one with bad eyesight and I made a pile for the rent re-evaluation that;s going on here. Hope you are well. Liked your ideas for the challenge Seems like we tied last week! LOL
Happy Birthday to Holly!!!! My birds are singing Happy Birthday too! Holly must be hidden when it snow a lot! It snowed here and was gorgeous for a few minutes now the sun has gone.:blue: Take care of yourself!
  • My first baby( Clyde the kitty) will be 16 on Mar 1. I held him and his sister in one hand too.Bonnie died 1 1/2 years ago. He predates hubby and kids. Although I must confess his alliegence has shifted. He is like a puppy following DH everywhere and they talk in a secret language.
I had a GREAT day yesterday and good VERY busy morning today. 4 kids off to school. 4 toddlers here. We just got back from storytime at the library. Almost time to feed them.
We are under snow again. I shovelled a hour yesterday and about a half hour today so far. I may get out there at nap time. It is beautiful sunny and a warm 0 out there!!

Hugs to all, warm thoughts and prayers to Nae and Linus.
