The perfect name came to me in an instant.

YE OLDE SEA BAT !!!!!!

That way, the tourists would be very clear on who the proprietoress is. What will you do with the shop when the girls come again and you need to get away? Have you thought this through?

Well, of course it was, you hot maritime babe, you!

Tell us a few more names at the market -- what is the market itself called (because I have the memory of a gnat)? Oh My Cod is, well, sort of disturbing. And fishy... What will be your main line of merch.? Too bad FogDog is already taken.... heh heh. Fog is what I remember most about your coastline! How about:

Grab Bagz

Ye Olde Sea Bat is lovely.

I can quite understand the teenager computer problem. We have 3 people in this house and 2 computers and DH still has problems finding enough time on the computer!

Hold on a sec while I go retrieve our lovely photo...

Hmmm...I suppose "HUFFIN' 'N' PUFFIN" is out of the question?

Ooooh, pretties!

Our local pretties shops are Through the Garden Gate and Blue Stem, if that helps.

Up at the lake, there's the Barnswallow and one shop with such a terrible name I can't remember it because I've blocked it out. It's so cutesy that I would never stop there.

Treasures by the Sea? Treasures by the Bay? Treasure Chest? [market name] Market Treasures? Maritime Treasures.

As you can see, I like the word treasure. I also like gem, jewel, or precious, but it might be tough to avoid false advertising.

I'll think about it some more.

OUr locals are "The Gift Bar" and "A Tisket A Tasket."

Are you selling seaweed? Remember when your mom made me eat some? I still hate sushi because of that.

Ds's suggestion: The Bespectacled Sandcrab

The Glass Eye

okay, I ain't right.

Our local gift shops are "Lupins" and "Moose on the Roof" I think there are others, but since I rarely shop them, being a non-tourist, I can't remember.

I'm sorry, Cowpern, you get the prize for lamest local gift shop names. "Gift Bar" -- sounds like it ought to be at the airport.

One of my favorite names, I won't tell you for what in case you like it, is "GraySea". I think it's sort of lyrical, although of course it is pronounced Gracie.

Does your town (notice how carefully I'm safeguarding your identity--that's because I am toast! ) have a nickname? I was thinking something like Mystic Graysea. Too mystic probably.

Anywayyyyyyyyyyy

Talking What, no puffins???

The gift shop (as it were) in our town used to be called "Peanuts" until it went out of business.

Names that occurred to me in my sleep:

Treasures & Trinkets (I like treasures too!!)
Sea Shore Gifts
Rocky Shore Gifts
Foggy Day Cards & Gifts
M...'s Memories
Making Waves
The Salty Barnacle
Sea Mist

The crockpot is here! It's huge. It came with four really ucky recipes including one with canned salmon, parmesan and brussels sprouts. Eeeeew! Can you imagine the smell? I think I'll try hamburger soup instead.

Having my epiphany a few days late and actually taking down the Christmas decorations today because all of these shiny things are hurting my eyes.
