Nope, didn't get a chance to start anything today. The boss started on SBD last week, and is somewhat cranky these days. My office has been all of 15C this past summer and I literally freeze all day. By mid morning, the tips of my fingers are numb from the cold. A couple of weeks ago, I found a space heater and set up in my office...sure enough, I blew all the circuits, including all the alarm systems. Well, this morning, I came to work cold and couldn't consider sitting in my office freezing all day, so I got an extension cord, ran it from another room and set the heater up in my office.

Enter (drum roll please) boss. "You can't have this here. It's extremely dangerous having this all over the floor. yadda, yadda, yadda...."

Stand - Peggy. Smile. Put on coat, advise boss to call me at home when the temperature in my working space is reasonable and walk out the door with boss chasing closely behind.

That was the beginning of this week. The end of last wasn't much better, but I got my little dig in (tactfully, of course), so he backed off for the rest of the day. I wasn't planning to be at work this afternoon, anyway, so I'm not staying this morning to work in the cold.

CJ - Good to hear that you are back and still in one piece after the company. You have to admire your daughter's employer - there aren't very many employer's that would carry business disruption insurance to pay employees through disruptions. She is a very lucky lady. Hope everything is going well...how's the eating plan?

Sylvia - I'm glad that you got through the IRS appointment and you're still kicking. I know how stressful those appointments are - especially when you watch tv and see how ruthless they are. But the bottom line is that they just want the money that they think you owe. If you can't pay right away, they are usually willing to make payment arrangements. I think the only time they become really ruthless is when the client is biligerent and uncooperative, or if you have a history of these kinds of problems and not paying taxes. Hopefully everything will work out for the better. BUT, don't let it get to you beyond this weekend - get back on your eating program. You can do it.

Well, gonna dash. Got lots to do here. Take care.

Howdy Ladies!

I hope you are all doing well. I know I haven't been posting much lately..I've been busy and when I do sit at the computer, Nico unplugs it. I think he's trying to tell me something! I started to "wean" myself off carbs again. Slowly but surely. I'm not going to set very high goals for the moment. Everytime I set them, I always seem to fail. So, we shall see how this eating program works for me. I have been walking so that's been a plus. We started a "family" tradition on Sundays. If it's not raining, then we will put the baby in the wagon and walk to the closest coffee shop (1 mile away) and have coffee and a scone(we share it) and walk back. We've done this twice and we really enjoy it. Nico enjoys it most of all. On the way back, we stop off at the playground and just let Nico play. So not only do we take a two mile walk, we chase a toddler all over the playground. During the week, Nico and I take walks around the neighborhood...it's all uphill so we feel the burn in the calves. I usually wind up carrying Nico up the hill so I guess that's weight lifting? Sounds good to me.

Peggy- Your boss sounds like one of my old bosses. He used to say the same thing when we would plug in the space heaters. We told him that we could always call the labor board and claim that we were working in poor conditions and he would be closed down. That always shut him up. Good for you!

CJ- Wow, you sure have been busy! Did you have a nice visit with your daughter? Your daughter is lucky she is getting paid through insurance. How awful to be out of a job right before the holidays! Which reminds me...are you done with your Christmas shopping? We started buying little things over the weekend. I think I'm going to start to wrap them. The only problem with that is remembering what I bought!

Mindee- Are you out there? Stop by and let us know how you are doing!

Cat- I hope you got the job! Please post when you have a chance!

Sharon- We miss you chickie!!

Well ladies, I'm off to bed.

Have a great day!

Sylvia

Good morning...

Sylvia, what a great way to spend Sunday afternoons. We always tried to do something like that (although it didn't involve a 2 mile walk ) when the kids were small. It is times like those that they remember fondly and talk about now that they are adults.

CJ - Hi, have a great day... Check back in later.

As for me, the dr. appointment went OK, but will know more after some tests next week. Both my mom and grandmother had uterine cancer at the age that I am at now, and there are signs that I also have the same malady. Tests next week will determine whether the problem exists, or not. However, on a good note, it is usually a very slow growing cancer, and they have caught it even earlier than either my mom or grandmother. My dr. is very cautious with that stuff - he lost his own mom to breast cancer that was very preventable if her dr. had done routine testing. Anyway, that was part of the news from the dr.

The other part was with my weight. The nurse called me in 3 times to weigh me and then started fiddling with the scale. Suddenly, she turned to me and asked if I had lost any weight. She was beginning to think the scale was kooky... I love it.

The dr. was really pleased that I am back to my normal weight and wanted to do more blood tests to compare with last May. Soooo, off to the lab I went. I really want to find out the comparison, also, so am happy to be poked to get that judgement. I'll know in a week, so here's hoping.

However, the blood pressure was high, high, high. Go figure - do a pap smear, then take my blood pressure. Only a man would think of that one!

Hope everyone is having a great day. Take care and keep OP. You can do it.

Howdy Ladies!

I'm popping in for a quick hello. I decided to come online to try and figure out what to make for dinner. That's the hard thing about having a toddler....I now need to figure out what to feed him and my husband and I. I really want something easy. I think I may have some salad with grilled salmon. The scary thing is, Nico LOVES salmon! I don't know how that happened but, it did. I've been doing well on my carb weaning. Some days are harder than others. The one thing that I have been doing that is really helping is drinking water. When I feel hungry, I drink water. Sure it's not the same as reaching for a piece of chocolate but, it's something. The other thing that has been helping me is chewing gum. It keeps my mouth busy!

CJ- How are you doing chickie? I love all the positive "stuff" you post here!

Peggy- I'm sorry to hear about your medical problems. It's good that your doctor is being cautious and caught the cancer in its early stages. ((((((HUGS)))))

Well ladies, I'm off to grill a fish!

Have a great day!

Sylvia

Hi guys ... looks like it's just the three of us again. Wonder where Mindee and Cat went ... Oh well.....

Slyvia: Good for you staying away from the carbs! Sounds like you are on the right track ... I'm trying too ... made it all the way today - no bad carbs! Sounds good too taking that long walk with the family ... I remember when me and the kids would always take walks to the park and then play on the swings and slides ... we had fun. Hubby wasn't with us cuz he was at work.

Peggy: I too am sorry to hear about your medical problems but sounds like you got it in time to take care of it ... funny about the nurse and the scale .. I did good today .. tomorrow is going to be better.

Well ... time to get my warm jammies on and crawl in under the covers and watch Diagnosis Murder ... I like that show. Have a good nite and talk to ya tomorrow ...

Nite ...
Love, CJ
