Default Weekly TG chat - Aug 9 thru 15

Good morning my friends!

Don't forget to check last weeks thread for any posts you didn't see ....

Mindee:
I see you posted your biography with our group so please don't be a stranger and come and post with us in our weekly threads! So here's a big welcome to the group and hope to hear from you real soon!

It's been quite a busy week for us .. we have finally finished our big deck and are now putting up the wrap around smaller one for the back. I have all the furniture/tables and of course my Hot Tub on it and it looks great! I'm so thrilled. I'll post a pic soon.

Peggy:
Glad to hear your vacation was a good one and good job on only gaining 1 lb! Thats super. Isn't it fun to meet with old friends you haven't seen in ages? (well, it's fun to meet with old friends anyways but you know what I mean). I have a couple to look up in Traverse City which isn't too far from me now ... haven't seen them for years!

Slyvia:
I thought you already had Gino's b'day party before your trip ... oops, sorry. Glad you had a good time on your vacation too and good for you loosing 3 lbs! You go girl!!! Well, if you haven't had the b'day party yet, hope it turns out great and if you have had it hope it turned out great! lol

Sharon:
Hey girl ... I can't keep track of where you are any more - lol. Hope your finger is doing better ... post soon! Miss you!

Speaking of hurt fingers I burnt the tip of mine this weekend really really bad ... It was a stupid thing .. picked up a long fork to hold the chicken that was just in the hot grease and I forgot and didn't think and my whole tip of my finger is now one big blister! Having a hard time typing too.

Anyway ... we had my son and DIL up here with us this weekend we didn't go to the Casino! We decided to be good ... stayed home and had our fires and sat around enjoying the new deck ... went in the Hot Tub ... took walks .. etc, etc, etc. It was a nice relaxing weekend. Today it is raining but it's a nice rain and we needed it.

OK ... off to get more coffee and get dressed. Talk to you all later ...

Love, CJ

Howdy Ladies!

Just popping in for a quick hello. My baby turns a year old in a couple of days and it's a bittersweet time for me. It flew right by.

Right now, I'm very emotional. Not just for the fact that my baby is turning one but, I received some pretty rude comments about my weight the past few days. One of the ladies at the grocery store thought I was expecting another baby *sigh* Sorry lady, I'm just fat. That comment I could brush off but the one my sister made is a whole different. As you know we went on vacation with a couple of my sisters to New Mexico. While on vacation, I watched what I ate and did a lot of walking. I don't usually eat out 3 times a day and certainly enchiladas every day. Well, on our drive back, we stopped by a gas station and it had a scale in it. My sister looks at me and says "let's see what you're ideal weight is supposed to be." I brushed her off and she says to me "well, I should just buy you a cane now so that you can walk when your legs give out from your weight." I was shocked. I couldn't believe that those words came out of her mouth. I'm hurt and upset about her comments. If she was a total stranger it would be easy.

I've got to run, Nico is tryign to climb the coffee table.

Will write later.

Oh Syliva, I feel for you. It was a very hurtful remark and your sister probably didn't mean for you to take it that way, but when you are so conscious of your weight and trying to lose, it is a careless thing to say.

I often wonder why families do these things to each other. We are dealing right now with hurtful remarks that DH's sister made to his twin brother this week. It was attacking both his brother's family and ours. We are so hurt by the careless remark... I think the saying about choosing your friends but having to accept your family is sooooo true. Keep your chin up - we all know you are not a bad person. Keep doing what you are doing - the weight will come off. Don't let this set you back - we know you can do it.

Give Nico a big hug and a birthday kiss from me. That time has flown so quickly since his birth. Sounds like you also have your hands full...

Hope everyone else is well. I envy you your hot tub CJ. Ours is not working right now, so I am pestering DH to get it fixed before winter. We will wait and see...

Take care everyone.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to post and let Sylvia know I am thinking of you my friend. I don't know why people say such rude things and I know you love your sister very much, but it sounds like she thought she was doing you a favor by saying what she did. But I hope you told her that you ARE doing something positive and by saying those kind of things it doesn't help you but rather hurts you. She probably meant well, but just try to not let it set you back as you are doing so great and are really trying I feel so much. I admire you for how you just don't give up. I have one question though, is your sister a skinny little thing? I think that sometimes when someone has never had a weight problem they don't understand how hard it it sometimes. But please keep on doing what you are doing. OK? And just remember what blessings you have in your husband and that wonderful, soon to be 1 yr old baby Nico. We love you Sylvia and you can always talk to us.

CJ-Gosh both of us with our bum fingers. LOL Well take care of yours too. Mine is still pretty bad as the whole fingernail is black. It looks great I'll tell you. Hope your's heals soon, my doctor said it will take about 6 months to get back to normal and the fingernail may come off too. Oh well didn't want it anyways. Maybe the next one will be better. LOL So you didn't even go to the casino at all with your company? You sure are a good girl arn't you? I know you so love the casino. But it sounds like you had a great time with your son and DIL. How I wish I was there with you in front of the fire, you KNOW how much I love those fires. LOL

Mindee-Come on here and post we don't bite and we are a great bunch to have on your side. Post and let us know all about you. You will be a welcome addition to our wonderful group.

Peggy-How have you been? All recooperated from you trip? That is so great that you only gained 1 pound, that would be so hard for me. I miss you and am glad to be back in the fold.

Well time to get off here, I have to pack for my trip-once again I will be going to Washington D.C/Maryland area for training for my second study. I am rolling right along on the educational one, been going everyday to Bedford, Indiana and been doing great too. This one I will be going to tomorrow is the nursing home study. It is so much more complicated that the one I am doing now. I will be working both of them by next week. Hope I can do this. I think I can. LOL

Well better go, I have lots to do and my plane leaves Indy at 7 AM so that means we will be going to the airport around 5 am or so. Geeeeeeeezzzzzzzz
I will be so tired by the time I get there. LOL

Take care guys, I come home this coming Monday sometime. Talk to you later. Love you, Sharon

Sharon - great to hear from you again. Hope the trip works out well and that your training isn't too difficult. You just don't need that stress in your life. Talk to you later.

I started on the first phase of SBD again this week. It seems that, the minute I start to add starch or fruit back to the diet, my weight loss stalls. I have decided that the best plan for me is to cycle through the stages - 2 weeks phase 2, then 1 week phase 1. This seems to be keeping the weight loss steady and realistic.

I am just trying to get through this coming weekend. DH's father is celebrating his 90th birthday (Sept 1, but we are celebrating this weekend), so the family - minus one sister - will be celebrating with him. I can get through this with the food, but don't know if I will be able to manage with the family. I am so POd with them, I'm not sure that I will ever attend one of these functions again. However, I keep reminding myself to keep my mouth shut, suffer through and get over the weekend. Wish me luck - especially with keeping my mouth shut.

I have lost about 2 pounds this week, so far and would like to lose another pound before my official weigh-in on Friday. Then it will be to phase 2 for the weekend and hoping that I won't gain any weight. I am planning to be good, so having made the decision beforehand is 90% of accomplishing the outcome.

Hope everyone has a super day. Keep OP and keep losing. Take care.

Thanks ladies for the nice welcome. For some reason I wasn't getting the notifications from this group.

Like I think I said, my name is Mindee, and I will be 22 next Tuesday. I am married to Tommy, 27, and we have been married for 2 years. We have an adorable little boy, whose name is Brandon, and he will be 4 months on the 23rd of this month.

We are going to be busy in the next couple of days. Brandon is getting baptized this coming Sunday, so we will be running around trying to clean clean clean.

I have been keeping up with my daily exercises. Which consist of riding my stationary bike for about 20 to 30 minutes every morning. I also do crunches, lift weights and side leg lifts. Not really sure if the weights and leg lifts are doing anything, but I have noticed a difference from the crunches. (I have also noticed that when we go out for walks, I get guys that stare at me!! I never got that before because I was always bigger.)

We weighed Brandon earlier this week, and I jumped on the scale and it told me that I gained 7 pounds. I didn't know if it was true or if it was because we came into the store out of the hot sun. I have cut back on my pop intake, only one glass a day. I am also on the www.fitday.com website, and going by that I take in a little over a 1,000 calories. And I get ride of a little over 4,000 calories with all my exercising and regular activities that I do. That is a good thing of me burning more then bringing in right?

ok....I think this is long enough....so I will cut it off right here.

Welcome Mindee. Congrats on the new baby. We have a new grandson that is coming up 4 months on the 22. We were out to visit him a week ago - what a cutie. They are so much fun at that age. Good luck on getting ready for the baptism and let us know how it goes.

You are also going to be a busy lady - keeping track of all the emails you will be getting. Are you on a specific weight loss program?

Good morning everyone! WOW .. miss a couple days and look what happens - that's good! Glad to see you all posting.

Mindee:
Welcome! Glad to see you made it here. I have a grandson with the name of Brandon -- nice name. He's older than 4 months tho .. he just turned 3. I do have a great-grandson that is 7 months ... that is a cute age, they are just trying to learn to get around. Well, has your mail box filled up with all those emails yet? I tried that once, it got to be way too much. Good luck on your son's baptism.

Sharon:
So good to hear from you! I see you're busy busy busy as usual .. Hope you are having good luck with your training ... gosh, you make me feel "lazy" with my loving being retired! lol ... Wait til you see the cabin you'll think you drove up the wrong drive! haha .. I know I sent you a pic but now we've even added a wrap-around deck (awesome)!

Slyvia:
I hope you won't let what your sister said to you keep you from going forward with your weight loss plan .. you are doing so well. I'm sure she didn't intend to sound so "thoughtless" ... she probably is worried about you and just didn't get the words out right. I also hope you explained to her that you are doing something positive about your weight! Well anyway, you have us guys here, and we know you are going to succeed!

Peggy:
Lots of luck with your upcoming weekend deal ... sorry there is conflict with the family .. did you tell us what the problem is? it's ok, you certainly don't have to, just if you did I have forgotten - sorry. Anyway, good attitude about staying OP, and I know you can do it. Let us know how you faired for the weekend. Good luck with the 2 lb loss and on your Friday weigh-in.

Well ...
what have I been doing since Monday? Not a lot really, just been busy finishing up the deck - it's just about done. The actual main deck is done but the railings and the small back deck hubby is still working on. It will all be done by this weekend. Yesterday was hubby's birthday ... I took him out to dinner and said whatever he wanted to do we would do .. well, guess where he said he wanted to go .. "The Other Place" which is the casino! That is what we call the casino - The Other Place. He cashed out $100 ... but I got the Royal Flush on the poker machines and won $1,000!!! ... Happy Birthday Honey! WooHoo!

It's been cold and rainy here all week .. yuk! Cant' get my laundry done in the rain - I have to hang clothes out on line - no dryer hooked up yet. Today looks like good possibilities ...Suppose to be real nice this weekend. That's a good thing.

Well ... got to get going ... will check back later. Have a good day everyone!

Love, CJ

CJ~ He is still not too enthused with the tummy time, he would much rather be on his back. But he has gotten a flat spot from laying in one direction for too long. So I was told to massage it and it will start to circulate the blood again. I still havenít gotten the ones from LeanCuisine or WW. But I am still getting the ones from eDiets.com.

Glad to hear that everyone is doing so well. It is hot, hot, hot here. We just aren't use to this kind of weather. Supposed to be hotter tomorrow, also.

We are finally all packed and ready to go to the big family fiasco this weekend. Halfway to work this morning, I remembered that I forgot the dress that I was going to wear to the birthday party, the camera and a scrapbook (I will have to tell you the story about that). Anyway, the decision was to go home and get at lunch or to exercise at lunch - that decision was easy. I have the scrapbook, dress and camera.

This problem started with every family function that that I have been involved with in DH's family over the past 35 years. One of his sisters has always been transferred in her job, so in her mind, she doesn't live where the family is, therefore shouldn't be expected to help or contribute in any way to any of her parent's celebrations.

DDDDAAAAHHHH! None of us live in the same city as each other or their parents. Could that be long distance for all of us, then?

However, she and her hubby parachute in to celebrate, let the rest of us (mostly DH's twin brother, his wife and us) do all the work. BUT complain about everything. There hasn't been anything that they haven't complained about. After the last event 2 years ago, I informed my DH that I would not be prepared to organize any more of these kinds of events for his family. I thought that it was his sisters' turn and I would be happy to show up and complain about everything. (I'm not such a nice person sometimes )

It is now FIL's 90th birthday on Sept. 1. However, DH and I both work on campuses (really bad timing), DH's twin brother & wife are raising their grandson, so must get him into school and one of the siblings died 20 years ago so we still include her hubby (but we don't expect him and his new wife to organize the events) and the other brother generally isn't much interested. DH called his sister last April to let her know that it was her turn to organize. She told my DH that they were going to Barbados at the beginning of September, so he suggested that we have the event on August 14 because there is a big car show in their dad's city that his dad would like to attend - nothing better than going with his kids.

Unbeknown to us, the twin & wife had made the same decision about future events. (These brothers do this all the time).

Their sister travelled through the city where the twin lives last June and he informed her of their decision at that time. She was surprised and said that it was waaay too short notice for her and that she and her hubby would be in Barbados for August and half of September - hmmm on both accounts that is different than she told DH. Besides didn't we know that it was impossible to organize anything because she didn't live in the same city and everything would have to be done long distance. Waaay easier for us to do it. Hmmmm, again. I don't believe any of us live in the same city and have always done these things long distance, carting everything back and forth to the events.

When we went to Mexico, our plane flew out of Calgary, where the twin lives, so we had an opportunity to get together. That was when we found out that the twin had the same feelings about these things that we did. That was mid-July. Anyway, neither of us heard anything more from her, so decided in July to go ahead with the car show idea (pretty short notice, I'd say). The other siblings are coming, but we didn't call the sister because she had informed DH's brother that they were going to be in Barbados.

Last week, she called the twin, said she was in Winnipeg visiting one of her kids and wanted to know what WE were doing for their dad's birthday. DH's brother was astounded - and speechless to say the least. He told her we were having the party this weekend. She was really upset because SHE could have book a flight to her parent's when she booked her flight to Winnipeg if we had told her (couldn't have called before she went on vacation, though, to let us know that she could be available at that time. I guess she wouldn't have anything to complain about if she had done that). Further to that, she accused us of never including her in any family events. I have huge bills to prove the number of times that I have called asking her to provide something for the family events and the calls have never been returned with an answer. DH's twin's wife also calls her - probably more than I do. The same response.

I am sooooo POd by her attitude I could call her up and have some words (but I'll be good and rest my dialling finger). But the worst is that, after letting her be in charge, she is still complaining. I will eventually cool down, I'm sure, but it is a slow process. Sooooo, the final picture here is that DH, me, his twin and wife are doing yet ANOTHER family party. One blessing exists, though - she won't be there.

OK, enough *****ing here. I am going and I'm going to have fun.

CJ - Well didn't you have a happy birthday. I like to celebrate other people's birthdays like that. WTG. Sounds like your deck is getting there. Must post some pics when you are done. I am also going to take a minute to tell you about the weather here - 30C today and 35 tomorrow. Waaaay tooooo hot! We are lucky if the temp goes up to 25C in any given year. We just aren't accutomed to this kind of heat - should be more like -40C, then we would be like pigs in mud (frozen mud, though). Hope the weather clears and you can get you laundry done. Reminds me of the military joke. The men were told that there was good news and bad news. Today they could change their underwear. You change with you, you change with you...
PLEASE, for our sakes, don't do that.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Wishing the baptism to go well, Mindee. Take care.
