Good evening! Today ended on a better note. It didn't start out quite that way though. But at least I feel better now. nm, dc vj zxhbnm,b gf (Jolie Sue says "Hi") I followed up with a few clients just before I left, and they were all pleasant conversations. Reminds me why I do what I do. Then my dbf sent my a cute email that made me laugh. I'm sure it helped that I stayed out of the office most of the day, running visits. Stayed away from the crazy boss!

Julie - What is it with people? Why can't they just get over themselves? At least your boss handled it the right way and backed you up. Do you ever think this chic will get the hint?

Marti - Cuckoo clocks? I think all that racket would drive me crazy. Yeah, this coming from someone with all those animals. Hope you find what you are looking for.

Barb - Welcome to the group! Glad you joined us. Some of the schools started the first part of August, the rest this week. Can't say for sure though, I don't have any kids! How would I know? I do miss school shopping. That was always so much fun.

Cristi - I really don't like going to the movies that much. It's always so cold. I can't stand to hear the people talking and chomping on their popcorn like they haven't eaten for a month. I would much rather wait and rent the movie in the comfort of my own living room. But honestly, I don't think I've seen too many that I'm interested in seeing.

Sue - When is your mom coming? My mom is supposed to be in about a month but won't tell anyone when exactly. Guess I can't take any time off of work if I don't know when. Maybe I'll just take a vacation when your mom is visiting you!

Jana - You are too funny. I needed that! I am happy to say, it has rained the last 3 days, well, I'm not happy about that, but I haven't had any headaches. So maybe the meds are starting to take effect. Yes, I will take the loss anyway I can get it. I could tell that my work slacks were a little looser. I've lost almost 1/2 of what my "Labor Day Goal" was.

Well, I should go do something a little productive, perhaps.

Susan~gotcha...I too always believed in common courtesy and felt something should be said instead of just leaving things as they are. I actually had a guy tell me he didn't owe me anything. I said you are right but there is such a thing as common courtesy.

Marti~I wanting to redo my room eventually, the furniture. I have always wanted to fill my house with antiques and I want to start with the bedroom. We have a clock on the wall that goes tick tock all day long and rings on the hour. At first it was a little annoying but over the years I have gotten used to it. My mom and grandma always had a cuckoo clock and I love those things also. And grandfather clocks...to die for.

Jen~I enjoy going to the show but I too don't care to hear people chomping on their popcorn. You are right in that they act like they haven't eaten in a while! :lo: I don't even like to hear myself eat much less someone else. And me and DD are talkers, but when the movie starts our mouths are zipped. It usually only annoys me if someone is constantly talking and not watching the movie at all.

Julie~sorry to hear you had a bad day at work. Maybe tomorrow will be a better one for you since the boss got onto her.

Sue~for some reason I thought I had read your mom was there already! When does she arrive?

Barb~WELCOME once again! Glad to see you found your way over to the Chit Chat thread. The schools here already started. SOme last week and the rest this week. Not sure why they don't start at the same time.

Well, ladies we decided on seeing The Door in the Floor and I rate it about a 3 (out of 5). It wasn't bad but it wasn't the greatest either. I think it was more funny than serious, which I don't know if it was supposed to be. Anyway, I would save the bucks and see it on video for sure. Again, not that it was bad, otherwise I would have walked out. Then we went to dinner, nothing fancy just IHOP. Haven't been there in a while. DS and DH went to Lowes for a few minutes to get a tool belt so I thought I would jump on real quick. And I best be cutting this short. Have a good evening all!

Hiya ladies!

Cristi - I love the quilt! Will you be using a white dust ruffle like the photo shows?

Marti - so did you end up getting much done today? When does James go back to work? It is me that has trouble sleeping. When I wake up to potty, (as we older ones do.. ) sometime I can't go back to sleep. And then sometimes Mr. SnoresAlot wakes me up, too.

Sue - yep, it's good to have some changes in the house. Especially when you spend a lot of time in it like we do, lol. Glad you're getting the walks in!

Barb - glad you made it! I think you'll like it here. Our school started here Aug. 17th. My baby, who's 17, is a Senior this year!

Susan - yep, the CG is just flat out rude! Especially for someone who came across as so religious, you know? That just makes it worse. But, hey, it's his loss!

Julie - like somebody else said, at least your boss backed you up. Seems like every job has a pain-in-the-patooty person like that!

Jen - hey, glad I could make you smile, lol. I never ever go to the movies on the weekend! My favorite time is Tuesday around 3 or 4 PM. They don't start any earlier than that now that school is in session. Once, there were 6 people total in the theater, and these 2 women came in and sat down in the row directly in front of us!! So we moved... but can you imagine??

Angie - where are you?? Hope the hookers and pervs aren't holding you for ransom somewhere, lol. You're getting down to the wire for bon voyage!

Hi to the other JLs!

Well, I am about to pull my hair out (L'Oreal 5a - Medium Ash Brown, lol) waiting for the plumber to come and fix my water softener. He was supposed to be here yesterday, then today, and now they say sometime tomorrow morning for sure (yeah, right!). I tried to just get a different company to do the repair, but they don't work on others' models! If I ever have to get a new one, it will be a Culligan, so there are repair guys out the wahzoo!

Other than that, my day has been a good one! I even worked in a little nap.

See you in the morning...

Your quilt looks fantastic.
Hmmm hours in the day...*sigh I do know Im tired and am looking forward to the end of 65 hours when we leave...lol ya Im counting down. I worked this morning, did a load of laundry before leaving, went and got my legs waxed...holy #^%$&#$%^ that hurt since I did have a bit of a sunburn, which I forgot until she had the HOT wax on it...I was literally doing the labour breathing...lol knew I should of done a couple of shots of tequilla first...lol
Then came home did another load of laundry, took Tan to buy football gloves...again Holdy $#%^@#$ 50 bucks batman! Got a pita for dinner,,,went to a dollar store and bought a bunch of pencils and notebooks for our trip. Needed moleskin for Tan's blister,,,so off to Walmart.
HE played his game tonight,,,did awesome,,,thing is,,,it hasn't stopped raining here in days...so I had to run to Walmart again for an umbrella, and needed gas,,,blah blah dropped him off after the game,,,changed clothes since I was soaked, and went and tried to serve legal docs....nope didn't work. So now Im doing some back ground checking on how I can get to this person.
I have tomorrow off, so I plan to clean bathrooms, grocery shop, and pack,,,plus have a ped and manicure appointment,,,Brandon (my lil white chicken breast) has a tanning appointment,,,well so do I but Im sunburned. Got another 2 miles in tonight, but boy am I having trouble with the eating. What do you guys do when nothing satisfies you and you just eat all day? It is getting to be a bad habit here. I have to find a way to stop it that's for sure.
I did sewing today and finished cleaning. Planned to start an exercise tape, but didn't get to it. Funny how many excuses I can come up with.
I made brownies, cube steak and mashed taters for dinner. Not a good idea for me, but DH gets tired of not getting a good hot meal. It is hard to be good to him and eat like I need/want to. I think it is hard to cook for just 2.

Cristi Love the quilt. I bookmarked that site. Looks interesting. Mom comes Sat. for 2 weeks.

Jana Hope the plumber got there and your hair is still intact.

Marti Did you get a clock? We don't have a cuckoo or a grandfather clock. DH has looked at plans for building a grandfather clock, might be a good project for him.

Barb Welcome, and pleased to meetcha. I don't have any little ones at home and I miss the back to school shopping. I even called both DDs and inquired about the shopping for the grandkids. Living vicariously through them I guess. My baby boy (24) was bad to have for a last child...he never asked for clothes or anything special. I had to drag him kicking and screaming to shop for back to school. (or just buy things and bring them home)

Jen Funny about your Mom. At least Mom has to tell me when she is coming or she wouldn't have anyone pick her up at the airport. She is coming Sat. for 2 weeks, so you can take your days off.

Hope everyone else had a nice day. Hi to all Jaded Ladies.

Angie- You posted while I was doing my slow typing. I just wanted to say that my son and step-son have their own busines in CA as legal process servers. Thought of that when you said you were serving docs. My baby boy is starting his second year of law school next week. Step-son helps keep the business on track while son is busy with school and is talking of being a PI for the business eventually. So far so good, and it can only get better once son is a lawyer.
Have a nice night and get some rest...you deserve it.

Good morning Ladies,

Angie - glad to see you checking in. Isn't it awful all the things we have to do before vacation? I've got a list as long as my arm, lol. What the heck are sesame snaps??

Sue - if nothing you eat satisfies your hunger, it isn't hunger, imo. It is boredom or something else. When that happens to me, I drink more water adn try to find something interesting to do. Like come here, because it distracts me. Good luck!

Well, the plumber is here and yes, I do still have all my hair, but just barely. I hate to see the bill when he's done.

It's raining here, but we needed it. I plan to rest and be lazy today.... maybe read and watch movies.

Morning ladies~

Jana~not sure what I will use for a bedskirt. I had one that matched my quilt but threw it away when I went and bought a bedspread. Didn't like the bedspread at all so took it back and ended up buying a cream colored bedskirt. So hopefully this one matches, if not I will get a white one. Can't always tell the true colors of something in the catalog. Glad you still have your hair and the plumber got there.

Sue~I have to agree with Jana about it possibly being boredom. I have had days like that and just try to find something to keep me busy, like reading. I get into a good book and don't want to do anything but read! Yeah, there's some stuff I really like in that catalog too! Funny, I have looked at so many places and catalogs looking for a quilt and the other day I get this catalog in the mail. It had a sticker on it that said this is your last catalog-ummm, it was also my first! I just received a Country Curtains catalog yesterday and there is a quilt in there that I swear is the same one-I will look at it closer but it looks the same, but for twice the price!

Angie~geez woman, you make me tired from reading your posts! You definitely need a break and Cuba will be perfect for you to relax! Be sure and take lots of photos. I forgot about the cardio in BFL but remembered the meals and the protein drinks/shakes. Just seemed like to much for me-kudos to anyone and everyone who does that and sticks with it!

Julie~well, hopefully the co-worker gets over it and moves on. She shouldn't have been carrying on that way to have gotten into trouble to begin with.

Well, got my house stuff done this morning before getting on the computer and now have thw rest of the day to do whatever. DS#1 is taking me out to lunch, not sure where. He just said be ready at 11:30, of course I was ready earlier. His work schedule has been crazy because he is short handed and to top it off he started school last Thursday and goes from 5:45-9:45 two nights and then 7:05-9:45, just not sure how long he can do that unless he gets some help at work. He won't have time to do his homework. I just hope it doesn't take four years to get his Bachelors like it took him four years to get his Associates. But he did take a break there so, it actually only took 2 1/2. Anyway...now to get the other two in college! I have faith and that's all that matters. Other than that not much else going on.

Hope everyone has a great day! See ya later

Hello ladies--

Susan--I understand now....you definately deserved some kind of something instead of leaving you hanging. How is this Tom guy doing? Have you met him and gotten to know him yet?

Julie--I'm glad that your boss overheard what was being said. There seems to always be one co-worker at every job that is hard to work with. At sony....we had plenty!

Jen--We didn't go up to Eugene and get the clock...we decided to just enjoy the evening and make dinner together and relax. Of coarse today James was wishing we went! I told him that we have plenty of time to get one.

Cristi--I love grandfather clocks...I just don't know where in my house we would put one! I want a bookshelf on one of the walls that is available! Last summer James got a shell of the grandfather clock my grandpa made 30yrs ago...we were going to refinish it and put the works in...but then notice that it doesn't stand upright....it leans. (It had been out in a shed for many years before we got it out) So right now, it's just taking up space in my office room.

Jana--Ah...so it was you who can't sleep. Hope you got better sleep last night. James left today, he got a call from one of the managers saying that by next week he may get to work in Eugene...that made him happy....he'd get to come home everyday! But right now, he's on his way back up to Portland.

Angie--Nothing like working your butt off just before a vacation!! I sure hope you get to relax at least a day before you go! Nothing like being stressed right at the last minute! You will post pictures once you get back wont' you? I want to live vicariously through the photos of your vacation in Cuba and pretend I went too!

Sue--I'm in agreement with the girls. Boredom played a HUGE part in my weight not budging for the longest time. I have now started using my WW cookbooks...pretending I'm some expert cook! Grabbed my scrapbooking stuff again and found books that truly hold my interest. Anything to keep my mind off of mindless snacking! And I finally seen a drop on the scale.

Hello to the rest of you girls out there!! Hope you're enjoying Thursday!!

Well as I mentioned, James left for Portland. Then around 5:00 I will be leaving to go get Jhanai. I'm keeping her until Monday. We plan on going back to school shopping. Got to get the supplies and clothes! I love the fact that she is now wanting a certain style instead of having her grab a shirt and pants that don't quite go together...at least IMO!! She's very excited to be in the 5th grade this year. Can't believe next year she'll be in Middle School. Where did the time go????

Ok...I'm going to browse around then get ready to go.

Not sure if I'll make it to chat, but I will try!

Hi gals!
Well, kind of busy day around here...DH is putting in a patio under the playstructure. The pictures are at Costco, so I'll post some when I get them. I know I know, I need a digital camera - my 35 mm is so 20th century.
I've been trying to clean, but it has been a haphazard effort. Did get in a 1 hour walk, so I have walked my 150 minutes this week. Hope to do more, doesn't like enough.

Angie - Puhleeze take pictures - I would love to see Cuba vicariously...I bet you can't wait for a break from your busy life

Jana- so glad you still have your hair, even though now you can't afford the hairdresser We just had our own lovely plumbing issues, they are not cheap. What really cost us was hiring a recovery person to come in with his fans and dry things out so we don't get mold and dryrot. That cost as much as the plumbing repair. We did take advatnage of the moment to redo the whole sink, not just the one broken pipe. With the wall already opened up, it wasn't that much more expensive to do it and now there's one less thing to remodel in that bathroom!

Marti - You should get the clock. It may seem like an annoying noise, but I have such wonderful memories of my mother's antique windup clock. I call it the "tick-tock" clock and I find the noise soothing. Now when I visit Mom, I hear the tick tock clock and somehow I just kind of relax. It's like Pavlov's dog, only I don't drool.....

Cristi - Haven't looked at the quilt yet, but I love quilts. I have an antique bed from circa 1860, and quilts look great on it. Right now I have a quilt I made on there that is made out of DH's late Aunt Florences linen handkerchiefs. Hey if it takes DS 4 more years to get that Bachelor's, it's better than never getting it at all, IMO. I had to drop out for two years and my folks wrung their hands and said I would never get through cause it's just too hard to go back. Well, I was determined and I not only went back, I worked full time while I did it AND went onto get a Master's. We each do it our own way. You sound like such a great supportive Mom - your kids are lucky!

Julie - That's great that your boss backed you up...

Jen- that concert sounded like fun...I haven't been to too many concerts since the kids came along. kind of miss them

Susan- I think CG should have emailed you too, out of sheer courtesy. Well, it's more information about him that you need to know really. Hope you get to spend some time with Tom - he could surprise you

Hello to everyone else - welcome Barb - I'll try to get in on chat tonight. It's 6 for my time zone...so I just have to tie a string around my finger for that one...

Well, I never thought of myself as bored, but you all might be right. I am always one to do two or three things at a time. For instance I read and watch t.v. or I watch t.v. and use the computer. If I curl up with a book I snack on popcorn or chips. I can't just sit. So maybe I am searching for the right thing to eat because I am just sitting. I will try just having water or a drink in place of food and see if that works. Something has to improve!

Tommy also got a call from Kelly from his work today. He has to go in tomorrow at 9am to give what we think will be his side of the story and then we will know more after that. So keep us in your prayers and your fingers crossed! He met with her and told her his side of the story and she called him back this morning, and he starts back tomorrow morning! He is basically on a last chance thing, if he gets written up or warned one more time, then he is gone. But it is such a good feeling to have that off our backs!!

My little smartie pants knows how to work the computer keyboard! I was sitting here going through my email and reading some messages on different boards with him on my lap. I pulled the keyboard out, and I was using it for something, and it froze for a second. I couldn’t figure out why until I listened and heard some noises on the keyboard. Then the screen started going up and down and all the help buttons came on. Then when I asked him if he was trying to help momma, and he just laughed!

I noticed today in his mouth that the tooth on the lower left side of his mouth is just about through. I can see the whites of the tooth itself, so it would explain why he has been crankier then usual, along with the cold. But I looked again, and I could of swore I saw another tooth trying to come in next to it.

Speaking of my smartie pants, he tried sweet potatoes tonight……and loved them! He didn’t even get mad at me when the bowl was empty! I put two teaspoons into his cereal bowl by itself and he loved it!

Jana~ He met with her and told her his side of the story and she called him back this morning, and he starts back tomorrow morning! He is basically on a last chance thing, if he gets written up or warned one more time, then he is gone. But it is such a good feeling to have that off our backs!! But in going to his meetings, he saw a place closer to our house that is higher and he would be starting at $12 an hour. He is planning on picking up an application from there sometime. He knows he has a ton of cyber-aunties!!

Barb~ welcome to the group!!

hello to everyone else!!!

Hello gals...how was chat? Who all made it tonight? I got here in time and was even online until I got a phone call from my sister so I went and talked with her for awhile. She's been looking for a job too (they laid her off at her other one just a month or so ago) She told me that she got a job the other day, then they decided against it because she told them she was pregnant. I just think that is wrong! But at the same time I can understand. I feel bad for her. She did say that they're considering it, but I don't think they'll take her.

As for me...I called HR at OML and left a message asking if everything that I sent was what they wanted and if they needed more info to give me a call. I get a call later and guess what...they never received my stuff!! I'm like What?!! I mailed it out last Wednesday. I proceeded to described what I sent it in and told the man that if they can't find it by tomorrow I will redo it all and hand deliver it! Can you believe that? I'm glad I called...otherwise they would have thought that I wasn't interested.

Rk--Oh we plan on getting the clock....the next time James has a day off. We already have a cuckoo hanging on our wall and I just love to hear it go off every hour. But it's not working properly (<--hey is that spelt wrong?) One side doesn't play the music it's suppose to so we want to retire it and buy a new one. It's over 60yrs old. And we want to make sure it stays in good shape.

Angie--I totally understand wanting to clean the house before going on vacation. I mean, who wants to come home from a wonderful vacation and then have to do house work? Not me! Especially if you get an extra day off after coming home...you get to relax some more. So glad you got the post card!! I wish I still had the view to those mountains (of coarse it wasn't that close.....many many miles away) Someday I want to move into a house with a beautiful scenery out my window!! (that's my dream!!)

Mindee--Glad to here that Tommy is able to go back to work. Make sure that he's stays a good boy and behaves himself so he doesn't get into that mess again. Baby teeth! How fun is that? Jhanai is losing her teeth! In fact she's got one she's working on getting out. Oh how I hate to see her do that! She's going to need braces in the next year or two. Better start saving up for that!

Hello to the rest of you gals!
