Hi everyone, I am just so jealous. You guys are doing good on the eating and exercise and splatted off track big time. I'm eating out of control and I need your help. Inspiration, yelling at me, whatever. So after after reading your posts, I'm a little inspired to join EMM and I will give up sugars too. That's my weakness and I will do that. The rest of the eating be damned at the moment, but no more candies, cakes and brownies for this girl. You guys are so great. Little did you know that you would spur me back to sanity. Okay, enough of that.

I didn't not take the money and run, although it was tempting. The loan stuff is done and now we're remodeling the house. Orchid mist is the color of our bedroom and the hallway, so we're doing the living room, family room and kitchen in it too. It looks like white with a little glow until the sun hits it then you can see the purple in it. It is so pretty. The kids rooms are staying the same.

We finally found a good price on the oak laminate at Costco. Took three trips over the mountain, but we bought all the laminate we need to redo our entire house. The disgusting carpet is going away. DH has finished the hallway and DS's room. It looks so awesome. I do admite when I wrote the check for the flooring, my hand shook. THat was a lot of money.

Skinny, your bread machine will definitely go out on Tuesday. I have to go to the PO to mail my inlaws anniversary gift and I'll get it packed up tomorrow. I got some popcorn stuff from work, so we should be good. I have all the paperwork for it, in the machine, so you should be set.

Hots, way to go on the weight loss. You are an inspriation. Please know that.

TOF, your comment obout a 1/2 year journey reminded me that I've been on this diet since May and why I'm giving up now is just plain stupid. Thanks.

Thanks to the three of you, I'm ready to be good again. No sweets for EMM. I can do this.

Take care.
Marie

Hi all. It's good to hear from you. Hot, congrats on the two pound loss - that's great! Must feel good. It's amazing how much differently your clothes fit with two pounds down. Skinny and Marie, hope all is well with both of you.

I've been waging war with this health journey this weekend. Two big celebrations with lots of unhealthy food and little healthy alternatives (I was too busy to plan for those) so yes, I gave in. But now it's over and there wasn't too much damage and there are no more parties in the near future and it's time to get back on track.

I'm exhausted!!! We're having another snow storm and I'm cold to the bone, craving sunshine!!!!! A good workout will warm me up and perhaps I'll head out for that. First, I need to center myself. It's one of those days where I feel like the world wants me and I'm not available to anyone or anything that includes the taxes, the kids, my dh, my relatives, the house, the job. . . Ever feel that way? This is when I just want to "eat away" all my angst and I WON'T!!!!!! What will I do instead - write, a hot bath, some exercise, sleep.

Thanks for listening to me. Even though I have to wade through what seems like a zillion computer ads before getting to this site. It's worth it. I hope I can be here to listen to you and help you on this journey toward health! Take care.

Good morning, my friends!

Please note that my ticker and signature have changed. That's b/c I lost another 2.5 lbs! Woo-hoo! I expected some weight loss this week b/c I could feel it, ya know? But 2.5 is FAB! Yeah!! That's 7 lbs gone for the new year; 4 lbs gone towards my EMMC and my bday goal is close behind! Yeah! :dancer:

I've been eating well. We went out to eat Sat. and I ordered what I wanted by immediately cut everything in half. I'm having the rest of it for lunch today. I've been meeting my water goals each day. I exercised for 60 mins on my gazelle on Sat. and Sun. I even managed to drag my sorry behind out of bed this morning to exercise w/my stretching video. Of course, if I hadn't, I'd never been able to make it up the stairs to work this a.m.! :)

Marie-good to hear from you! I'm glad that we inspired you to get back on track. Don't be too hard on yourself. We all fall short sometimes. Just dust yourself off and start again. We're here for you, friend! :grouphug: Are you having trouble w/your eating b/c of all the changes going on in your house right now? Even though they're good changes and changes you want, it's still changes. I know my DH doesn't deal well w/changes due to his depression. I like the sound of your new color and the laminate floors. DH and I have plans for our house in the future. Right now, just concentrating on his getting better (he's doing great-by the way) and on getting out of debt. I'm so excited about getting my bread machine! Be sure to put your add on so I can send you the postage, you sweet lady!

TOF-I totally undstand about feeling pulled in so many directions. One day last week, I hadn't been home 5 minutes until DH and both DD's needed something from me, the phone rung, the dryer dinged and I had to start dinner! I have to honest and admit that I told them all to wait 30 minutes and give me some breathing space and time to take off my worker hat before putting on any other hats. They were cool w/it. I went to me room and just sat and prayed for a few minutes. Then I changed clothes, went to living room and thumbed through a catalog. THEN I asked what everyone needed. I'm proud of you for not turning to food. Hang in there and keep up the good work. I admire your tenacity! :)

Splashes-be sure to ck in w/us today. If your allergic to processed sugar, do you use raw sugar? Just wondering how that works. Keep up the good work. You're an inspiration!

Gotta run. Take care. Hang in there, ladies. We can do it!!

Hotsplashes 02-21-2005 07:08 PM

Good morning, my friends!

How's everything going? Things here are good. Got up and exercised w/Richard Simmons this morning. Yeah. Now, let's see if I can keep it up through the rest of the week. :)

Splashes-congrats on the 30 mins. on treadmill. What kind of workout are you going to start?

Eating has been good as well. I did use some flex points yesterday but that's okay. It was for milk not junk! I really do feel like I'm back on track after messing up during the holidays. I hope my resolve will stay strong this time!

I'm going clothes shopping Sat. Nothing major-staple items like khaki pants/skirt, blue jean skirt, shirts, etc. I asked DH to lay out my clothes for church the other day and he said, you don't have any! So, I'm taking part of the tax return and getting some. I need mix and match stuff that can see me through the spring/summer. I'm hoping I can get in 16 now. I expect to be able to but you never know! It also depends on how it's made. Don't you hate that? I wish there was a univeral size where a 16 is always a 16! Oh, well. I guess I should just be happy that I'm back in a 16! :)

Gotta run. Have a great day!

Hotsplashes 02-23-2005 09:23 AM

Howdie dooo everyone!! Got to the gym again today and did a great work out and was onthe treadmill again...actuall jogged for 3 minutes!! That's a major feat for me!lol Eating is going well...getting in lotsa water! Sinny..the work is based on the Body FOr Life method...actually just the old stackingprinciple...go up in weight and down in reps...till exhaustion..then go hi reps low weights for hte last set...felt goooooooooddd!lol gonna try the eliptical tomorrow! See everyone later!!

Marie 02-23-2005 10:18 AM

Hi everyone, I hope everything is going great with you all. I just had breakfast while reading the posts and thought it was terrible to eat while reading about weight loss. But a little bit of time is a little bit of time - I had a chance to be on the ocmputer and breakfast was portable. I had two slices of bread and it was delicious. Skinny I'll send you the recipe. It has no added fat. It's made with oats and molasses. It doesn't last long at my house. I didn't get to the PO, but I will today. I promise.

Hots, way to go on the exercise and weight loss. You're doing great. What a major change.

TOF, I can relate with the eating your angst away. I'm like that when I'm brooding. Just stick me in the kitchen and I'll graze my way through it. Although I haven't done it lately, I used to exercise and that killed two birds with one stone. I got exercise and I didn't eat. Usually I felt way better. I need to remember that and go back to it.

Things are going pretty good. Eating wise I'm doing better. Smaller portions and stopping when I'm full. Exercise - on Monday doing the floors, it was like 12 hours of deep knee bends. Now I can barely walk. It might not have been on my gazelle, but the results were deeply felt :)

We have 3 bedrooms and the hallway done with the floors and now it's time to paint. We decided what to do with the kitchen floor. We wanted to laminate it but the counter cabinets were put on top of the linoleum. To take them out will probably break the counter top laminate. At 2:30 this morning I realized that that was okay since I wanted to change the color to dark green (they're off white now). So I told DH to take them out and we'll replace the countertops if they break. If they don't we'll wait until we're really ready to replace them. Secretly, I hope they break. :)

Time to get ready for work and the dentist. I have a cleaning at 9:00 and that's why I'm able to get to the computer, I get to miss some work so I decided to play - not paint.

Take care,
Marie

Good morning, my friends!

Hope everyone is having a great day. Things here are good. We went to the Y yesterday and I did 5 miles on the treadmill. :tread: Then I did a round on the weight machines for my arms/abs. Tuesdays are "family night" at our house so after the Y we went home and played a game together. Overall, a wonderful evening w/my family! :flow2:

They have a new fitness room at the Y. It holds a program called Fit in 30. You can actually do it for 10, 20, or 30 minutes. Here's the set up. All around the room are different kinds of resistance equipment. Between each machine is a mat for cardio. You start the program, get on the mat and do whatever cardio you want for 30 seconds. The folks I saw were running in place. Then the tape that is playing music for you tells you to switch stations. You go to the resistance machine for 30 seconds and switch again to cardio. You do that all the way around the room for a 10 minutes circuit. Then you repeat twice and that gets you a 30 minute all around work out. One lady there said she lost 3 pounds in one week by doing only that for 3 times a week. I think I'm going to give it a whirl sometime soon. I think it will be fun.

TOF-How's it going? Be sure to ck in w/us. We miss you.

Marie-no hurry on the package. Just whenever it's convenient for you. You've certainly been busy and lots more to come! I'm glad to hear your eating is going well. I knew it wouldn't take you long to get back on track. As for your exercise-do you have a stretching video? Sounds like you might need one! :)

Splashes-congrats on the jogging! Your other workout sounds interesting as well. I can't wait to try the new Fit in 30 at the Y. I'll let you know how it goes.

I know this is long but I wanted to share something that happened yesterday. One of the ladies I work with blew into my office and put a butterfinger candybar-my fave-on my desk. I just looked at her. She explained that they've been sitting in her truck for two days and she was tired of looking at them. I said thanks but....she said-wait I've got others-snickers-kitkat-if you don't like that one. I said no I like it-a lot but no thanks. She said-what am I thinking? I know better than that. You don't eat sweets anymore. She apologized and left but I was thinking boy that could have been disaster! Then I thought-cool-people are noticing my change in eating habits. Anyway, made me feel good that I resisted and that others are seeing my progress.

Have a great day.

Marie 02-24-2005 01:03 PM

Skinny, way to go on the passing of the Butterfinger. That is a major accomplishment and you should be darn proud of yourself. If someone put my favorite candy bar in front of my face I don't know that I would resist. I'd try because I promised you all no candy but it would be an iffy situation.

I skipped work today because it's slow at work and I have painting to do, so I'm going to get to it.

Exercise - none formally. Too busy painting and crawling around on the floor. I figure I'm getting a bit climbing the ladders and doing deep knee bends. The remodeling project is coming along.

Food - I'm sticking to my EMM promise so far. No sweets (except ice cream cone at night - only 230 calories and it is part of my diet ritual). Actually about the ice cream, I noticed that when I have my cone is when I'm doing good on the diet and I lose weight. When I don't it's been because I've been bd and cheated. Interesting thoughts.

Off to painting. I'm doing the kitchen and trying not to get any paint on the oak cabinets. So it's slow, slow, slow. And I swear often. The only time in my life that I swear is when I paint. About 5 years ago we built the house and I swore the whole time we painted it. So I'm back at it - just call my potty mouth for the next week.

Talk to you all later.
Marie

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! :cb: I'm so excited! I went home and got rid of all my size 18's. I told DH to say good bye to the size 18's b/c they would never be in our house again! Hello, my friends!

Hope this day finds everyone doing well and blessed beyond imagination! Things here are good. I stepped on the scales this morning and alas, I'm still up two pounds! But, I'm going to work my heiny off and they, and hopefully more, will be gone next weigh in. I know some of it, if not all, is TOM stuff. My DH laughs at me and says I'm the only women in the world who looks forward to her TOM starting! I said, go ahead and laugh, laughing boy, but it's almost a guaranteed weight loss every month-what have you got? He's so much fun.

Had a great weekend. DH took DD's on individual "dates" on Fri/Sat evening and they had a blast. Of course, that gave me some one on one time w/DD's as well. We had a nice family day Sat.; hit the flea market and the mall. I indulged w/about 1/2 a soft pretzel and had a frappucino as well. They were both delish!

I haven't exercised, except for walking around at the mall/flea market, since Thursday. Will be back on track tonight. I'll either do the elliptical or tread at the Y. Doing good w/eating and water.

Gotta run! Have a great evening!
