  • I know where Painty's core is but I'm not telling.
  • I think I have a cobb instead of a core.

When they changed the vale thing here so it was a popularity deal, one of the mom's got upset because her son had always assumed he'd make the speech. Or she had always assumed. It was his right, in her opinion, and I really felt she was right. I talked to the superintendent who shrugged it off and said "who cares? Colleges don't look at that." Still, it would be nice if the kid who studied and gave up other stuff for grades got the reward.

Bagz-dd is too successful in everything and gorgeous and exciting and adorable to need this speed like some kids would.

Church tax is 2.5 percent in Germany, I'm told. That is nothing to church goers being expected to pay 10 percent in the US. Do y'all think most church-goers give up 10 percent? I'm very interested in this. Discuss.
  • This whole valedictorian thing is mostly parental ego, isn't it? How many kids consider it anything other than another onerous chore to make a speech? Of course, I'm sure they also feel proud of themselves for doing that well, but kids who are at the top of the class get a lot of honors as they get toward the end of high school anyway, so I wouldn't expect it to be the thing they most want. I've probably mentioned that at DD's high school, there are usually between 3 and 5 valedictorians, believe it or not. There is no salutatorian or whatever the other one is. It's because of the pitiful grading system here. 90-100% is an A, so there are always a few kids who have the highest grade average.

Give me a couple of years; maybe I'll get all up in arms over it myself!!

Peachboy's school is typical of the Lowest Common Denominator philosophy that ticks me off so much. A popularity contest? Isn't that what Prom Queen and King are for? Jebus.

Hey, who's excited about the Supreme Court deciding against the Calif. Dr. who sued over the Pledge of Allegiance? They didn't decide it on the merits of whether or not you should have "under God" in the pledge, but instead said he had no right to sue on behalf of his daughter because his custody of her is not during the week, when she would be in school reciting the pledge!!!! What a horrifying precedent that sets, I would think! If you have joint custody, the kid's other parent can do whatever they please when they have the kid and you can't do a damn thing about it, because you have no parental rights on those days? Supreme Court has made another cowardly decision that may have far-reaching negative consequences (I would not be referring to anything to do with the 2000 election, now would I?)

Congrats on working off half a pound, Sugar. (Does your scale really show you half pounds?) Last week I got dangerously close to a new high, pound-wise, so I'm trying to actually eat more responsibly. Been walking about twice a week, not enough, but something.

Well, I'll work on that video. It would be fun to pass around -- how about you guys record stuff at the end of the tape if you're able, then send it on?

  • Ahhhhh, I survived the weekend. I've been cooking and cleaning nonstop. The last of my Sunday night dinner guests left at 9:30 Sunday evening. I finished the last of the dirty dishes at 5 am this morning. I'm beat.

I'd love to get a video of Kiwiette. I'd be good and pass it on to the next cow. I promise.

  • I was pretty surprised at the SC decision, although (don't quote me on this) I got the feeling the girl herself was an unwilling participant in the suit.

Since I'm being contrary... about the valedictorian thing, as the kid who moved around a lot, it's really tough to lose everything because your parents decided to pick up stakes and move to a new place. A kid could work hard for three years and then move to a new school and be told her hard work is meaningless. That's sad too. However, there is a point that schools do not always have the same standards, so it's hard to know whether the new kid worked as hard as the kids who were already there. I just hate to see new kids get dumped on, since I was never NOT the new kid. Remember, they've lost their home, their friends, their favorite teachers, their familiar hallways...

WW is going fine so far. I have weigh in tonight. I hope it takes effect even quicker. I tried to buy a much-needed beige bra today at the "semi-annual sale," but my extremely odd size was no longer available in anything but the ugliest styles. Considering I went in the first hours of the sale... I can't wait to be an ordinary 36B again.
  • weird bras
Cherry, I bet you and I both have the same odd bra size. I can hardly ever find bras in my size, especially not in beige. To think that I was a 36 A at one time. Those were the days. Or not.

That's the most exciting thing I have to write about. Slept really badly last night. Must go to bed early tonight. Yeah right.

I guess I should introduce myself, the second Jenn, heir to the cow print thrown I'm from Austin Texas, but from NC originally, I moved to TX when I got married bec hubby was here...and I...wasn't..so it kinda made sense to move I'm 24 years old, mother to a lil doggie and a bird (no kids!) and I wish I was also a magic shrinking cow, for now I am just a slowly disappearing cow, lol.

As is obvious by my name I am a painter, dare a say an artist. I do mostly abstracts and florals. (note: I tried to put links of my art here just for examples but I'm to new to post linkies..lol. If you'd like to see examples of my work just PM me or ask ..no prob ) Otherwise, Hubby and I run a computer and website business from our home and I wish I could say all is well...in time my friends, in time...

    Until we meet again
