Where the heck were we all today?!?!
Shad~ what wallet did you give Simon??? Am I missing something?? I know I'm a bit tired but I lost something in the translation!! I do love the NOPE! I call it off and on plan anyhow so this is much more usable! It wasn't crap I was worried about just making off plan choices. I had a great POP day-Perfectly On Plan! I also feel a bit more energized at least I did till I ran into my other wheelchair trying to close the window. The chair hit me in the inside of my left ankle. When I get off here I will pedal and put the ice back on! Hope I can pedal! ????? Have a wonderful day and see you and the others in my dreams! |
'Mornin Chickies,
Sorry I couldn't post yesterday - in addition to getting another tooth yanked, I also had a eye doctor appointment. So for a while yesterday (after getting the eye dilation drops) I was both blind AND toothless! I hate the dilation drops, my eyes are blurry until the next day and it's such a disconcerting feeling to not be able to focus. The bad news is that my inability to see things well is due to the fact that I am getting older and as the doctor says, particularly after 50, most of us will no longer see with an eagle eye any more. Deal with it, make sure your glasses are fit correctly and for me, get away from sitting at the computer for upwards of 16 hours a day and use lubrication drops in my eyes. My eyes apparently are dry as a bone. And the more you sit in front of a computer, the less you blink. I am approaching zombie land :yikes: The good news is that even tho I am old, my eyes are very, very healthy. And that's a good thing as my mom has macular degeneration and I have a host of wretched genes in my family - heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, cataracts, etc. Since DH and I went to the doctor's together, he did the follow up with both of us in the room. After he pronounced us both with healthy eyes, I said to DH, "gee it's good to hear that ONE body part is not falling apart" Doc said he is our age and that one of the most important things we can do is exercise. We can't halt the fact that the bones and body parts are taking some wear and tear, but if we strengthen the connective tissue - ie. muscles - it helps to support the skeleton and reduces that I'm feeling old and achy feeling. So today you all share in my doctor's advice. So with that, today I'm going to lubricate my eyes, stretch, walk away from the computer periodically and try some new moves today. Even though I am on soft foods, the refrigerator is full of healthy stuff - I just need to stay away from the ice cream in the freezer. Interesting that you are going to rename the NCC to NOPE. In the land of ex-smokers, the term NOPE means Not One Puff Ever - which means that addicts can never let their guard down. I suppose that it will not be very difficult to apply the same principle to healthy living. Off to sieze the day friends - I will if you will. |
:coffee: Hello everyone. This is a mega short post as I had my right carpal tunnel injected today so it is very painful and still feeling the effects of having a load of steroid injected in to a small space thats not really designed to have a load of anything injected into it!!
Hope you are all ok. ONE WEEK TO GO TILL MY HOLIDAY!!!!!!!! The weather had better be better than it is here. It has been :rain: :rain: :rain: :rain:  all day..... I will be back when I can. :comp: :comp: :comp: Tomorrow hopefully! |
Good afternoon all! I'm spending time with Jen today. Wednesdays are ours till the kids go back to their mother. I think Jen will be home the weekend after July 4th.
i ran my wheelchair into my "parked" one last night while someone was whining into my ear on the phone. The inside of the ankle is a very tender place! OUCH!! my vision is really affecting my driving! ;faint: :yikes: This too shall pass but I am using ice and elevation and it is doing remarkably well! Jen just left for the skin doctor so I will try to catch up on here and also the dishes!:D Today is my second day on my diet plan and I am doing rather well. Very pleased with myself.:D Teel~ I am very sorry to hear about your wrist and hope it feels better soon. I am lucky that I haven't ever had to have shots yet for anything. Do not do anything wrong before you leave for Salzburg!!! Be very careful and don't overdo!!! Happy~ My love what can I say?!?! ((((((((HUGS))))))) for the toothless wonder. EYES!!! I cannot get used to the changing of my vision as the days go by. It really is affecting my judgement of distance and I can no longet talk and drive at the same time when in tight spaces. Old age sucks!! Hope you will be feeling better soon! And where are the rest of the girls!!???!?!?!?!?!? Have a great night everyone and good morning Miss Shad!!Hope you had a good nights sleep!! |
I must be going senile!!! :faint: I forgot I posted last night!!! And I did not finish pedalling!!!
|
Oh my, what a sorry bunch of invalids we all are this week. I think Shad and Nae will have to be our dearest friends and watch over us - you think?
|
Your Guardian Angel  with the fallen halo (and arches no doubt) is here ladies. Talk about a painful day, you lot are not doing well at all. Best you get yourselves on to the pedals or the treadmill and walk the day away. Happy we need to get you off that computer. Something else to do - but what - maybe that Soup Kitchen is looking good again. Would seem a shame tho' when you have gone to all the trouble of getting a degree in computing!!!! Life isn't so fair at times.
Mel, over here you are not allowed to talk on the phone and drive at the same time. It causes accidents. Maybe it's just become true in your case. Anyway some bloke on a bicycle (the pushie variety, not the motor variety) got done for riding and talking and fined $250 the other day. He is feeling a tad upset about it. And he was riding on the foot/cycle path as well. While I'm not condoning the ticket he got, some of these people are dangerous whether on a bike or a car while talking on the phone - specifically the French and Italians, who have great difficulty keeping their hands still while they talk anyway!!! I'm up early this morning because I am off to see Jason, the personal trainer, who is supposed to be tweaking my program. Mind you after yesterday and the day before, the scales are not kind this morning. Back to the straight and narrow again. It's just not fair. Okay Shad - grow up. Nothing is fair, you have to make your own luck. Anyway, I'm to be down there at 7.30am so I got up early and had some breakfast to try to give the body it's fix before I start cranking it into impossible situations. Teel sorry to hear about the wrists again. Hope they are better before Salzburg comes around. And where is Linus and Nae? Haven't heard from them for a while. Gotta go. Catch ya again soon. |

It's amazing, I ask where Linus is and she posts 2 minutes later. :genie: :wizard:
Get better soon Linus |
Well I am back from Jason the Sadist's ministrations. He tells me my lower body strength is not too bad, but upper body needs serious work for strength and muscle density. We've tweaked the plan and added a couple more of the torture equipment weights.
I've to change my schedule around and do the treadmill first, ensuring I warm up properly before running. I didn't do a full program today because I have strained a muscle in the thigh somewhere along the line and it is not worth pushing it and risk making it worse. So I'm off again in another direction to try to push this weight off. Sounds like perfectly reasonable birthday presents to me Linus. So you will be out shopping this week? Two trips up the Royal Mile on foot should give you your exercise for the week. Edinburgh is almost as steep as Wellington in NZ. Actually I remember toiling up some steps once - I seem to remember somewhere near the Railway Station and they climbed up to the Royal Mile. I had a suitcase as well. I swear my knuckles were touching the ground when I got to the top. I know my tongue was. Anyway, I must get off and go shower and get back to grouting in the bathroom. I've so nearly finished, I just need the push to get the last bit done. Then the floor and the worst is over. Finishing touches after that. |
Hi Friends
Wow what a week it seems like forever but it isn't even friday yet...... I send out a group hug and prayer for all my friends who are dealing with pain conflict and frustration...... we are a lot ...... good thing we have each other!!!
MY friends and family who live 5 hours away are begging me to come up there to see them but I am not going just to celebrate a birthday that isn't that big of a deal to me.... I want to do some fun stuff this summer and that does require road time for me no matter what so I want to wait til next week. So I don't know if they will convince everyone to come down my way or just wait to see me later for my birthday. I have you guys to celebrate with me and that is enough for me........!!! ;) It is hot here now and I am so tired at the end of the day and just no energy to do much of anything.... I seem to only have enough to get through my day and pour myself into my work and patients..... I am getting old!!!! I hope you all have a good day tomorrow and Shad is truely our motivator in the get up and get withit policy...... you are such great support..... Mel I have so much reading to do and I left my package at work..... so I will retrieve it tomorrow..... thanks again you are the best. Love ya all.....Peace, Nae |
Good morningmChicks!
Nae~ I feel like it's Friday too. Very long week. Hope the holiday weekend seems as long:rofl: Read whenever you can. You know your own pace. I celebrated here too for my birthday. It's always best with friends no matter where they are! Shad~ So just exactly how did you do this injury with Jason?!? Must be some strange positions he's getting you in for you to pull a nerve! RIGHT GIRLS???? Hope you get better times on the row machine. I see a new career for you already. Olympic rower!:D Have fun with the tiles when you get up! What a guardian angel you will make too!!! I think you have been mine right from the start!! linus~ Good to see you but sorry about the sleepiness and all. Hope everything goes OK at the Dr's office. We are a sorry lot that is sure. maybe we should all start to take turns and not get hurt all in one week! Too bad they don't have "injured" smilies so we could pick and chose! Happy~ Hope the eyes are better. I put a post it on my PC so I remember to use the drops BEFORE I start logging on. Seems to be working much better now. Of course I still have to remind myself to BLINK!! Lordy we need some help down here!!! Until I just re-read Shad's post I never realized that there really is no difference when talking and ANY MOVING VEHICLE. DUH! How dumb am I. No wonder I keep bumping into things in the house. Between the radio part and the cel phone part, I have been crashing around for awhile now. Well I guess the light is finally on in my head. Thanks!!! Jen's bird wants attention and is trying to eat my mouse cord! Better pet him some. Have a great Thursday. I am cleaning and taking the day off from life.:D |
shad~ I decided to go back and find the wallet story. I not only found that but the answer you gave me too?!?!? I have no idea how I missed them both but I did. Lovely story. A few years ago I bought Jen a necklace with a pendant of a mother and daughter. I have put it away with my life insurance papers so she'll find it in the file cabinet when the time comes. I wanted her to have one last "gift" from her Mom. Glad Simon has Gram back again! :D OK this time I'm really going to clean!!!
|

bye for now kirsty |
Maybe I do have some powers I did not know of. Both Linus and Nae appear on the scene after I have posted and I haven't even borrowed LindaT's cattle prod yet. I'm hoping Happy is down in the basement walking away her problems and Teel is practising wheeling her suitcase up and down stairs. :wizard: :genie: :wizard: :genie:
Funny thing about DS's wallet Mel. I found and gave him grandma's one. It was an el cheapo and probably not what he really wanted but he took it anyway. Then in the last 2 days small parcels began appearing in the post. Yep his friends (bless them) have felt sorry for him and he now has 4 new wallets - some of them very expensive leather ones. His boss at the Panel Shop and his wife gave him a real beauty of a wallet so now he has 6 wallets including his grandmothers offering. It's going to be a bit of a dilemma as to which to use!!!! He'll be worse than a woman and her handbags shortly! :lol3: Okay, the leg has come right and no I did not do it with Jason, Mel. Naughty, naughty. Jason is 32, he has ginger hair and freckles. He's a nice young man but as all trainers are sadistic, I think I will leave things be - even if he was interested. Today the leg is okay, but I am feeling uncomfortable about a shoulder muscle. Got to be age. This too shall pass, if I ignore it for long enough! No gym today - Body balance tomorrow will make up the 4 gym sessions, but I still have the hour walk to do. Maybe an early morning trot around the bush down the back on Sunday!?!? Okay, so today is definitely the last of the wall grouting. Only part of a small wall to go and I have run out of grout, so shopping first, grouting, cleaning up again for the floor tiles and get a couple of them down. Such fun. I'm trying hard to get through the weeks challenge this time. Okay, gotta go. Shops are open, the hoards will get there before me if I am not careful. Time to go. |

A triple rainbow Linus! Wow how exciting. I've never seen one of those myself and I would probably strain my neck looking upwards if I ever did see one. Hope you took the time to enjoy it.
Yesterday I had fish to grill for supper. It was overcast but the rains were way to the north - or so said the weather channel. I sent DH outside with our dinner and as soon as he fired up the grill, splat, splat, splat - rain. It really started to pour and the funny thing was that there were very few clouds up there. The sun was shining brightly in the street and the pouring rain was shining like tiny jewels falling to the ground. It proceeded to pour like crazy for the next 10 minutes. We couldn't even tell which cloud it was raining from. DH was not happy but we looked at the sky over the neighbor's house and there was a beautiful double rainbow in the sky. We must have seen 6 colors - even purple which is unusual. I think normally we only see about 4 or 5 colors. It was quite neat, even if we did get a good soaking. I've always found that rainwater keeps the hair soft anyway  Shad, sounds like Mr. Trainer (they are all evil) has got your doing some serious upper body work. My trainer showed me some exercises with pulleys and weights and things for the upper body but I never could remember proper form and actually felt a bit intimidated going into the weight room with the manly men so I stuck with just the free weights. I just assumed you were doing upper body with the weights anyway. I LOVED the comment in your journal with the matter of fact attitude that of course you could press your own weight with your legs - if not how would you ever manage to stand up? I laughed all night over that one. I have been making a concerted effort not to spend all day and all night in front of the computer. Is working well so far but seems strange. My mouth is healing but a bit sore. I darn near drowned myself yesterday trying to get my eye drops in my eyes and instead they rolled into my nose as of course I cannot see what I am doing  Mel, I think I will have to dig up a pair of those curb "feelers" they used to have on cars in the olden days. Hope your foot is better. Ouch... And guess what Nae, it's Friday already! The more I think about it, the more I really like the idea of having injured smilies on the boards here. I'll have to go hunt some down. Ok, found a few. Here's one for tomorrow... |
Happy~ OMG these smilies are too cute!!! The crutches guy is hilarious!!!
Hope the eyes feel better soon. don't rush them like I did thinking it would go away!:( Glad the mouth is getting sorted out and you got to see a double rainbow. We used to see many rainbows as kids but I don't think I ever saw 2 but remember talking about it at some time. Linus! 3!!!!You lucky dog!!! How wonderful for you too!!! I would love to boggle the minds of many and have all kinds of boo boo smilies and the such!!! Hope you are dried out by now and rested! Shad~ Simon will be the wallet fashion plate! Congrats to him:rofl: He must have been so surprised! Hope the balance thing is good and no more boo boo's for you either. If Jason is sadistic, ask Linda if you can borrow the prod for awhile longer?!?!? I am very tired tonite. The storm here has knocked out all TV for some reason so before it comes back again I wanted to post and go read Harry Potter. I am still on the last book. :faint: Been reading it for MONTHS now. Maybe even a year! Went shopping but tuna steak was $7.99/LB so I left it in the store! I really must get ready for bed. I yawned and now forgot what I was going to say! :faint: Goodnight everyone and sweet dreams......good morning my Southern Friend and a great day to you!:encore: |
Yesterday I finished the grouting that had to be done. All together now - Yeeeehaaaaa! So thats done and I have laid out the first line of full tiles for the floor. You realise that this will mean more grouting yet. But there is 4 times as much of it on the walls. I've taken Kellie down to the Plumbing shop and we have ordered her goods and a mirror/cabinet for me. She is pleased with her prices I think. Considering that the taps are nearly half price she ought to be too.
So I brought her home, gave her coffee and a lettuce from the garden and some parsley and herbs and sent her on her way. I was meant to do a Body Balance class but didn't get back in time for that. Tomorrow there is an early one at the other gym so I will go up there and get my four gym sessions done. I will try to fit in the walk this afternoon after the tiles are done, but am not all that hopeful that I will have the time. Que sera, sera. Lots of things to do. Loved those smilies happy. There are some really good ones around at the moment. Suzanne is obviously very busy as she hasn't been posting too much around the place lately and hasn't updated her journal for a while - unless of course she has done it in the last couple of days. Okay, best go do the dishes, get on with the tiles, and achieve something today. Have a good one. |
Well it sounds like you are making good progress on the tile Shad - bit by bit. Then you can finish and go help DH get his place all spiffy. Yeah, right - NOT. Or is that what Kellie is doing? I could use some help getting my bathroom finished too - hint, hint ... ;) ;)
Tomorrow will be a walkabout day as we try out a new garden in the city. It's supposed to be a nice, cool but sunny weekend for a change. I would have loved to go camping but I have to really catch up on my fly lady stuff first so that things are arranged and under control. At least I'll be getting some fresh air tomorrow. I just hope I don't stumble again and earn myself one of those injured smilies. Glad you ladies like them. Mel, I hope you got to read some of your book. Reading is so much better than watching TV. I don't do enough of it myself and it's always good to either get some fresh ideas or just immerse yourself away from the regular world into a good fantasy like Harry Potter. Sorry for the short post, DH will be waking me early tomorrow. We need to decide yet on which of 3 possible garden spots we will be travelling to. It's also our big Taste of Chicago food festival in downtown Chicago so I am adverse to going anywhere near the city proper. Best to stay in the towns out our way as it will be madness down there. Cheers ladies, have your self a fine weekend. Do some chores, have some fun, pray that I don't stumble and rip something on myself again   Maybe I should take my joke cane with the tooty horn along just as a precaution, eh? I will report back later... |
Saturday laziness
I had some energy a few minutes ago but it seems to have left me.
Must be the gloomy weather. sometimes I think it's the bran cereal. Eating carbs in the morning seem to slow me down. Maybe I should have meat for breakfast and cereal for bedtime. Hmmmm..... Happy~ Our Tv was off till the middle of the night so I did read myself to sleep. I was hoping for some Hogwart's dreams but no dice! Hope you have a great weekend and NO BOO BOOs for you either!!! Enjoy!! Never apologize for short posts. I feel very comfprtable here with whatever I write cause there IS no criticism. One place to come and go and be my true self. An Angel For YOU!! Shad~ Did I mention that I'd like new bathroom tile?!?!? Someday you will look back on all this and be absolutely amazed at just how much work, how many hours and how much love went into the making of your Home Sweet Home! :D But it must be exhausting at times! Have a good gym class if you get there. Where DO you find the energy?!?!?! And Another Angel For YOU TOO!!! I am housebound today as the area around the bldg is dug up to prepare for next weeks concrete delivery. I am mad because although they left the ramp unbroken, I can get down but not back up. Our driveway has sunk alot in the past year and the chair cannot get back up by itself. The back door is the same way  Grrrr... :bomb: What were they thinking? :faint: I voiced my opinion and of course nothing happened.  AND MAYBE AN ANGEL FOR ME TOO!!! I don't want any more boo boos either! Hope you all have a great weekend. Seems a few are amongst the missing. I will cook and clean. Watched Calendar Girls and loved it!! Great flick. Maybe I'll watch it again! It's a loaned DVD. I best be off and find some energy. Maybe Missy Shad can lend me some!! Seems like she's got the corner on the Energy Market!!! adios My Chicklette Friends! |
Hello from me and a very short post I am sorry to say! Just to say I am still here but feeling absolutely exhausted for some reason. My present sleep pattern is not helping, last night I woke up every two hours until 05:30 hrs then I slept till 08:50!!! DOH!!!
So keep safe and well everyone..Shad, that bathroom of yours is going to look amazing soon!! Well done for all that hard work! |
Morning All
Been to the gym this morning as I missed it yesterday because of taking Kellie to the plumbing shop. When I came home I went and weeded the vege patch and fertilised it again and the pots etc etc etc. Then cooked lunch and sent the DS to bed as he was back to sleeping on the couch with the remote in his hand. Good onya son.
After which I slept on the couch for some reason. Don't know why. Maybe I sent all my energy to Mel to get over the humps and frustrations of being confined indoors. Little bro woke me up and I thought maybe I would get on to putting this computer together. However it seems that since the new computer is XP, I can't load most of my programs until I get upgrades to XP. They don't seem to want to load onto the new computer. Robbie will be getting a ring tomorrow. Also I so carefully put away the piece of paper which was the set up codes for Broadband on Simons computer and now I can't find them. Grrrrr - silly me. So with sleeping and swearing all that stuff I was going to do yesterday is now to be done today. Grrrr. Teel I am sorry to hear that you are sleeping badly again. That's no fun and it won't do the holiday stuff any good either. You are probably getting pretty excited about that now too. Mel check on what you are eating. There could be too many sleepy carbs in there or not enough protein in the diet. You just may not be eating enough stuff. Kellie is sorting out her own bathroom in her new (to her and DH) house. She and Don are good friends of the DS and have gone out of their way for him at times to help him out, so we are returning the favour with cheaper prices on their bathroom product. So far she has spent nearly $6K and would have spent nearer to $10 without my discounts. It's no hardship, she is a nice person and we are to have consecutive bathroom openings when each is finished. Hey Linus, are you still exhausted and not talking at the moment. I used to wonder how life would be when the boys grew up and left home. Well I didn't need to worry too much. The husband left home before the boys did. And they still ring for help and advice (both giving and getting). We get along fine, we're friends, we don't live in each others pockets and life is very easy. I have to admit though, that I'm not particularly maternal, and the sight of a baby does not fill the heart with glee and happiness. I look at a baby and say to myself, x number of hours in the laundry, x number of hours cleaning up and getting ready just to have this child in this place, in this state and for how long? So I was pleased when they grew up to be small adults and finally large adults. Nae's obviously having a good weekend as she's not been back. Okay Wednesday looks like weigh in and measurement time. Oh wonderful. Wonder what joys that will bring. Better go, journal, fly lady around the place and by that time the sun will be in the bathroom and it will be a bit warmer in there. See ya |
Teel~ sorry about the sleep problem. Hope it gets better before you leave. Maybe too much on your mind. watch the caffeine for awhile?! good luck
Shad~ Thanks for the loan of the energy!! I'll send it back straight away! Your house will look like a palace when you're done. Hope you and Kellie have great bathroom grand openings!!! Another thing for us to celebrate!!! I had to weigh and measure for the diet website so I did it today. Nothing as I said in my journal has changed but 1/2" off the waist. The scale is just not moving. I'm a bit upset but not going crazy. I knew I might reach a plateau and stay there because of the sedentary lifestyle. I'll stick with the diet and the pedals for as long as I can. It's healthy eating and MOST of the doctors were satisfied. Almost 30 lbs are gone and have stayed off since March of 2003. I eat much more healthier now, my sugar is relatively stable, BP is still good.......so I really cannot complain. But I was hoping to get to the 130's!!! :( Since the eye troube and the change in diet and no more using the supplements, It seems that the weight won't move. BUT It was already slowing down before the eyes started anyway. Then when I got off the supplements, it really stopped dead in it's tracks. I was thinking of trying the pills again and continue not eating the foods that are bad for the rosacea. Maybe I don't have to give up everything just to keep the eyes right. I could always stop at the first sign of a problem. God knows I have enough meds here. Looks kie a bloody pharmacy on my dresser! Well I will decide when I look into everything. The sad thing is that I am not having too many problems in the loo, the eyes are feeling pretty good and the rosacea is under control right now. I kind of hate to tip the balance for fear of upsetting the apple cart! OK enough. It's sunny out and I have permission to take off the perimeter alarm so I can go out a rear door to the back yord where it is NOT all tore up!! I didn't feel like going before but think I better!!! LOL Need a few minutes of "fresh" air (cough, cough) If there is ANY!!! Have a great Sunday and sweet dreams Miss Shad!! |
:) Hello to everyone! Well the time is nearly nigh!! Only all of tomorrow and Tuesday and we are off to sunny (I hope!) Austria. I have packed...much to my surprise my main case only weighs 8.6kg out of an allowance of 15! That means I can put in an extra top or two..in case of needing to change after dinner! You know what I am like!! :o :T  I am allowed 5 kg in my cabin bag and that weighs nearly 2 1/2 kg.So a little room for goodies on the return journey!! ;)
I don't know what has happened to my sleep pattern. Last night was worse than ever, it seemed. This does worry me as I simply won't cope if I am over tired. It makes me ill and then I am no good for anything. :tired: :tired: :faint: At the moment I am getting cold feet...well ok, perhaps just a little chilly! I have not been away since the year 2000 and I haven't flown for 25 years! I am absolutely dreading getting up at 02:30hrs on Wednesday morning. Somehow I have managed to lose 3lbs in the last fortnight. Don't quite know how but I am exceedingly pleased!! I had told myself I would get back properly on track when I have done all my jaunting around through the summer so I haven't been an angel by any means!  Has any one been watching Wimbledon? Tim Henman is playing this afternoon and as usual is giving the crowd a roller coaster performance. Phew! He is bad for one's nerves, I can assure you!! :faint: :faint: :faint: Disaster befell the car this morning. The exhaust fell off. Bad timing or what!! So I will have to try and get it fixed tomorrow, before or after my appointment with my social worker, I am not sure which. I could really do with not having to spend any excess money at the moment... Well thats it from me for the moment...oh Shad I keep forgetting to thank you for my super e-mail card..it was awesome!!!I may try and ring you later tonight....see if I am still awake! |
hi all yes im here and yes im exhausted surprise surprise im aneamic and now on iron replacement so no zyban for me so ill just have to keep smoking as little as possible down to about 10-15 a day so not too bad :^: SHAD my darling {not}dh is fastidious about codes and things and transfers them into a address book and writes them down as if they where phone numbers or postal codes we used to transfer them onto sticky labels and stick them to the bottom of the offending articles but for security reasons stopped doing that :nono: well youll be glad them walls are finished im starting to decorate the kids bedroom tomorrow and as such have started emtying it so all dvd,s games and cd,s and knick-knacks are now in a very very large box in our bedroom and a monitor box in their room and all the half naked women are gone and horrors ive taken down the very large mirror that craig seems to look into all the time i keep looking to see if the future is unfolded in there but i can just see me and as its such a large mirror more of me than i like to put on show god forbid i should ever ever se myself nude in that thing id probably cry or laugh or something   :censored: :faint: :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:     well ladies the ironing will not do itself and neither will the dogs take themselves for a walk and as its chucking down again ill need to forcibly reject benjy as he doesnt like the rain some blooming sheepdog he turned out to be can you just imagine him looking at the farmer with as much to say "stuff you chase your own sheep it,s bloody raining " again i digress catch you all later
kirsty |
Had to laugh about the dogs Linus. They have such expressive faces. When it was raining, Shad the dog used to look at me as if to say - 'well come on then, so its wet, you won't bloody melt you know' He was a herder dog through and through that one. The German Shepherd we had wasn't fussy about the rain or the beach or the river but strangely enough didn't mind being bathed. Probably because of the pampering and brushing which came after. He needed Craig's mirror. Such lovely boys.
The floor is going down in the bathroom. It's easier than I had anticipated, don't know why and I have probably just put the kibosh on that for today. Anyway it's looking quite good at the moment. Haven't got to the cutting part yet and that usually ends up being the swearing bit. Teel, you must be so looking forward to this holiday and well done on the packing. The airlines will just love you. But you have to do something about sleep because otherwise you'll stuff it and maybe not get up in the morning of departure. I hesitate to suggest a sleeping pill maybe tonight and tomorrow but no more? Mel, it's a shame about the weight, but if you are still losing inches maybe there is muscle building in there somewhere. Medication doesn't usually help as Teel will attest to, but you have to have this stuff. So maybe just keep on with what you are doing for a while and then when Autumn comes, give it another push (unsuspecting body, may just lose a bit) if you know what I mean. Other than that, portions is the only answer. We can't give up all of lifes pleasures to be thin. Well Nancy Reagan obviously could, but I can't! Weigh in day for me on Wednesday. So I can have some cyber cake for 'Nae and my sister tomorrow. My weight has stalled yet again. Obviously more muscle is building. I'm about to tell Jason that his theory isn't working yet again. I don't think this will be a partnership made in heaven! :?:  :nono: :strong: :jig: :sp: :tape: :sumo: :blah: :rollpin: :coach: :workout: :workout: :tread: :tread: 'Nae, are you setting up the table on the deck for the birthday party already? Haven't seen you around for a while. Happy is obviously on her way to Nae's place because she is missing too. Oh that's right, she and DH are still trying to find the park and gardens. Driving around in the car, arguing about who has the map upside down. The new computer is running, but having problems with loading some of my programs onto it. It's got XP and not all of the programs seem to want to use it - or is the computer being snobby and not allowing anything less than XP on board?? Errgh. More frustration coming up today. At least I will have the Internet and Email up and running on it today. Good on me. Okay, time to go get ready for the day. Killer step class in 2 hours. |
PS, I think we need a punchbag smilie

Fabulous And 50
Hello my lovely friendsl, yes, I am here but barely and have a huge day at work...oh give me strength. My cousin Lynny and friend Barb came down and had a little celebration for me. I am not use to that kind of partying anymore and am still tired this morning. Anyway, it was fun they dressed me up like a bag lady out on the deck with house dress red scarf and purple beads, curlers for my hair and bright red lipstick and then they won't take me down town ....can't imagine why. I dread the pics that are going to surface. Then of course the good gifts came after that!!!!! They pampered me with food and cleaning up and drinks and laughs all weekend........it was a blast!
Tomorrow is the real day..... it is sort of odd..... thinking back to when you were a young girl and wondering what will my life be like when I am that age...well here it is already!!!!!!!! Teel I am so sorry about your not being able to sleep that is so awful and I do hope you have a great time on your trip..... when you come back and tell us all about it, we will be like the adventurers you had riding in your back pocket....or taking up the extra weight in your luggage. Have a great time and take good care!!!!! Linus are you taking anything to increase your blood count....some tasty liver and onions...or any pills.....you are starting a big project for not feeling very well. You are unstoppable. Shad you have really done some great work on that house of yours we should all come to oz while the exchange holds out.... see your garden and have tea. I miss some things about australia so much...so glad to have my memories. Mel, How are you doing? how did your weekend go? I do hope you are feeling well. As you can imagine I haven't gotten anything read yet.... may have to take it on my mini get aways the next two weekends. Where is Happy? Busy with so many things in this life???? Thanks for always thinking of me my friends when I am MIA. I'll report more about the weekend later..... off to work. Love ya, Nae |
Okay, I should have posted this 6 hours ago, but I was tired last night and didn't get here

kirsty :?: :?: :coffee: |
For goodness sake, slow down Kirsty. You make me tired. Can't someone else do something as well! I know with painting that you want to get as much done as possible when you are there because of the mess and the cleaning up and the rest of the stuff that goes with paint, like smell and drips and splats all over your hair, arms and glasses etc. Pull the carpet up, it won't make much difference between now and Thursday, then you will get to see how much dust, dirt and mayhem the carpet hides and you will have to clean that up before painting. If you leave it until Thursday, all that will be in front of you and will need to be done in a hurry, because for once the carpet layers will be early!!!
Was feeling mighty stressed myself yesterday, not because of the house, but because I seem to be losing my stamina and energy. I could only get through 20 minutes of the step class yesterday. I packed it in and left with tears streaming down my face. Don't now what is going on here, but ever since those new weights came in from Jason, I have no energy for anything else. I was totally mad at myself for giving in and not finishing, but I couldn't get any rhythm up and couldn't work out what she was doing, she's not consistent with number of exercises and I just wasn't fast enough. The music was too loud and I just couldn't cope. Spent the rest of the day with horrible thoughts going through my mind and the tears ever present for whatever I thought of next - like dog, like kid leaving home, like no job, like the tomatoes are not ripening, like recruiters not ringing me back, like anything else that popped into my head. It wasn't a good day. I didn't bother to read many peoples journals in case I felt moved to type something sarcastic and cutting - like why don't you just put up or shut up about it!!! I think a word with Jason may be in order. I find that the more of those bloody weights that I do, the less weight I lose. I don't want to be the biggest strongest kid on the block!! Didn't get any tiles laid yesterday. Spent some time preparing the floor for the next lot instead. DS had laid some tiles, but he didn't take into account the matching on floor to wall etc and just laid them where he thought he could use the least number of tiles. So up they came. Wasn't many of them and I did get some relief from my chaotic brain by imagining that each hammer blow landed squarely on a particular recruiters private bits. Sorry I'll explain that one another day. Someone (Mel??) asked if DS#1 will be closer to me when he moves to Adelaide than he is now. Answer is no. This wide brown land is so big, that Brisbane is closer to New Zealand than it is to South Australia (1800k compared to around 2500K) However we will be on the same continent and I won't have to take my passport to visit. It will take me probably 24 hours of straight driving to go for lunch - don't think I will bother unless he asks me to stay over! Where is Happy? WHERE IS HAPPY? WHERE IS HAPPY?? :mag: :mag::mag::mag: You haven't fallen over DH's tripod have you? Or into the fishpond at the local gardens? Please just put in a post to say you are okay. Teel, tonight is the big night for you isn't it? Off to Salzburg. Good on you for the luggage bit. We travellers need to do our bit for the economy and for the environment. Bring home some good stuff - although all I can think of from Austria is those pastries, cakes, chocolate, coffee and cream. Oh there is scenery and architecture as well. Do not overindulge, but have a wonderful, wonderful time. Right I am off, take my woes out on the treadmill or rowing machine, not to mention those p*ssy weights - oh and Jason as well if he is there. It's probably lucky he wasn't yesterday as we may not be speaking now. |
is that not where you get cuckoo clocks from ??? shad i would leave something to someone else but for some reason they dont want to do anything thats what i get for having men and i lay the carpets in this house another string on my bow anyway the reason im on here at 12.25 am is

Hello girls, I am here. Lurking. Always seem to be behind lately. Found an English Ivy at the Arboretum that I absolutely fell in love with. If I was not such a guilt laden lapsed Catholic, I would have tweeked a tiny cutting for myself. Been trying to identify it all weekend. Of course I have to pick a plant that has over 400 varieties. *** pound, pound, pound. ***
Right now it is time for my evening walk with DH. We are going to waste our money buying a lottery ticket for the 250 million drawing tomorrow. At least we get a nice walk in. Then when we return, DH wants me to show him how to update the web pages on his web site. So I'll be back in a few hours to catch up and set up for Nae's BD party. Thanks for worrying about me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Saturday was a better outing day for us so we went one of our favorite gardens spots and also tried out a new arboretum we had never been too. While at the arboretum we walked the JOY PATH. Honest, we should have taken a picture of the sign - heaven knows at this point there will be no pictures of me. But we walked the path, it was lovely and we talked about you all the way. So see, you are quite often along with us on our walk abouts.
So, my dear horticultural wonder friend, do you have any idea what this Ivy might be named? The leave is mostly creamy white and the part that fascinates me is the verigation in the center. It is abstract with green and gray green shadows and it appears to me for all the world to look like a water color painting. I was just in awe of this ivy and must have sat there admiring it for a good 25 minutes as DH was snapping pictures around me. I did think to snip a cutting but I knew that wasn't right and the arboretum store only sells selected plants once a year as a fund raiser. I thought I'd be able to find it in a nursery but I may have missed the ivy season... Here's the pic, hope you can see what I'm describing... I will be back to comment later - You must have read the same journal entry I did. Quit your whining and excuses, get off the stick and BE AN ADULT!!!!!!!!! (Not applicable to you fine ladies here of course). Anyway, I will be back shortly... |
Came home to CHAOS
I had a wonderful time at the Mall. I was bad and spent saved $$ though. I bought another outfit and some face stuff. I think it's cause I was depressed! I think that's a good enough excuse! I will wear the new clothes tomorrow and parade around!
I came home and our construction crap was in chaos and the office too. I had it straightened out in 17 minutes what they were frantic about for HOURS!!! I work very well under pressure but I seem to be the ONLY one that does! I am asking for a chunk of $$ this month. I'll start at $500 and see if I get it. I'll be able to pay off 1 bill at least. Dear Shad~ I send my love and hugs and caring to you and I think you have been quite the little soldier while your world has been torn apart. It's a lot of sh*t to go through all at one time. Besides your still grieving Shad the dog. I have no magic cure but time does heal all wounds. I wish a job would come your way so it would take your mind off things a bit. I think you're also suffering from cabin fever. You are NOT used to being in one place for so LONG!! You are in my thoughts every day Kahurangi! Pleas hang in there. Love, Porangi Teel~ I hope you have a grand time and I'm not too late to say goodbye!!! Bring back all the details as I have never been anywhere and love other peoples tales!!! Adios my friend!!! Linus~ God woman do you ever slow down??? I think that none of us do! LOL We are all workaholics. That is how I got hooked up with Shad and Happy. Birds of a feather flock together or so the saying goes! good luck with all the plans! No wonder you need vitamins! Nae~ Of course I wish you well again for tomorrow. I have enjoyed your company and caring also and support. Your notes have also kept me going. i sound tough and curse a lot but inside I am MUSH! Not too many people know that. I try and keep it a secret in my day to day life. Keeps the enemy away! They're afraid of me! Anyway.......Good Tuesday to you a few hours early. I am posting this all now cause tomorrow I want to be dressed and ready when a bigwig comes. I intend to get rid of the burden of the contractor responsibility and have him give it to someone else. The whole reason for this mess was becaise someone went on vacation for a week(this one) and now no one wants to take over the decision making. Well Mel the Doormat is no longer an option for them and they need reminding of that tomorrow! I am woman and you all will hear me roar!!!! The next growl you hear will be ME!!! I am going to take a shower and then books and bed I think. I'm too tired to comment ion others journals and like Shad I might just write WTF in ALL OF THEM!!!! Or post a pic of me in the wheelchair and maybe they would cut the crap! What do you think Shad?!?!? Good night my friends and take care! PS Happy~ where for art thou! |
Happy, I have sent you a couple of e-mails that deal with Ivy. (hedera helix variagatum or something similar) Maybe it is good that you didn't take a cutting as such. Maybe it was common sense and not catholic guilt which stopped you. Ivies are lovely, however they can be dangerous both to the garden and you. Check carefully before you buy hey!
|
Thanks everyone for your good wishes .....I love all the graphics.....they really bring me such a warm pleasant feeling to know you guys take time to wish me well..... You are the best ...all of you! I am holding on to the night in thoughts of the last decade and how much your life does change in the 40"s....it is amazing. But I am sure fabulous and fifty will be fine..... Nite Nite everyone....see you all tomorrow on the top of this hill I am going over.......

It's time, it's time, it's time!!!
HappyBirthdayNae :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:    :hb: :hb: :hb: :hb: :hb: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: Wishing you the happiest of days to last you the entire year! I am still waiting for the fabulous part of 50 to appear, when it's knocks me on the side of the head, I will clue you in. However, I do believe that every day you wake up and can get out of bed is a good one. I played a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday to you on DH's harmonica. Pity you couldn't hear to enjoy it... perhaps I'll make a recording and ask Suzanne to allow MP3 files   Happy Birthday kiddo... :D :D :D |
Silly me, I back paged to catch up on posts and lost part of what I had written... Thank you Shad for your prompt response on my inquiry. I do believe the Glacier version you found is close to what this was. I was surprised to read in my research what a pest plant Ivy can become. As you say, might be more trouble than it's worth. Perhaps I could find a nice silk arrangement instead  I was just fascinated by the leaves, what can I say, I find amusement in some of the silliest things!
Sorry to hear that you are in need of a good vent Shad. Tears are not like you except we all have our breaking points. Tears are also a good way to shed toxins from the body, did you know that? I think you may be better off in striking a happy balance of your own gym routine via trial and error. I'm sure Jason will be eager to help but everyone is a bit different. Yes, you do need muscle to efficiently burn the calories all day long but I must question your routine if all of a sudden you don't have the stamina to get through a class now. My trainer said there are 5 core muscle groups you should work for a basic weight training program. I can look for my notebook if you like - his program was sound for overall fitness and health. You can always delve deeper if you wish to train for competion :strong: I think you have a solid program, perhaps look a bit at tweeking the food if you wish to shuffle things around. It's frustrating too on the job front, I wish people were more courteous. I will add you to the list as I fall asleep at night and wish good karma for all my friends and the good people of the world. ;) ;) Linus, you sound like a whirling dirvish of activity today. Had to sit down a bit and rest after reading your post! Take care not to mess your back up anymore. And good going on cutting back on the cigarettes. Pity you can't take the Zyban but it gets to the point where it's sheer willpower anyway. Just keep trying to cut one or 2 from your daily consumption each week and over a few week's time you will be down to next to nothing! Teel, is it time for your trip already? Bon Voyage - have a safe, happy and totally exciting trip filled with wonder and laughs and enough good food and sites to make you smile each and every day. Remember, we travel vicariously through each other so bring us back some wonderful stories. Mel, I have to laugh every time I see you post graphics. You sure are a quick learner and come up with some very creative ideas. I do hope you stand your ground tomorrow and give back these responsibilities that they drop off on you more and more. Your health and well being is more important and there are others waiting for you to be their secret angel - save your strength for them. I will be listening for the roar tomorrow :drill: - just don't make them cry - or maybe you should after all. Nae, happy birthday again to you. Wish we could have seen the picture after your friends dressed you up. I know what you mean about wondering where the years went to. I still think at this point my MOM is 50, not me. And I guess that's the way it goes because she said she thinks HER mom is 70, not her. Someone once told me that the reason time passes so quickly is that when we are younger and working, we keep wishing it was Friday and the weekend and over time, we have indeed, wished our lives away. So now I enjoy each day for whatever it brings - even if it's a bad one, I know it won't last that long. I did go to see the gyne doctor today tho the breast smashing will hold off until January. She was very pleased I quit smoking - even said you didn't gain THAT much weight since last year and quitting smoking was the best thing you could have done health wise. So that was good news and other than that I appear to be a little slower, blinder, stiffer but still in relatively good health. I am hearing from the doctors alot lately, well, you ARE getting older and these things DO happen. All of them say diet and exercise and a few good laughs a day are the secret to feeling the best you can. So ladies, eat well, move a bit, tell a good joke and have a few good deep cleansing breaths as you go about your day. Time for me to catch up to Nae's party via the Dreamland Express. G'night all... |
