Susie - I just wanted to let you know that it is not just you... I read about how they performed this scientic study of how foods tastes and what heightens our sense of taste to certain things...They discovered that when you aren't exposed to sweet or salty foods for a while that when you do have them, the salty one are saltier and the sweet ones sweeter So I guess by not eating junk very often, we allow ourselves to enjoy them that much more when we have the occassional "not-so-good-for-us" snack

Good Morning everyone. We went eat out last night instead of today for Father's Day and we did have buffet, weighed myself this morning and not as bad as I thought. If we go to the movies today water and butter free popcorn. Have a blessed day. My goal for this week in addition to weighing in with a loss is to weigh myself just ONCE and not everyday.

Default Good Morning Ladies!

Hubby going off on his trip for work today, so we had his Fathers' Day dinner yesterday- Shepard's Pie and Apple Cobbler (his fav!). I did not have- way too many calories in too little food! Had a WW frozen dinner, salad and lo-fat ice cream- yummy (really!)
Went for three mile walk yesterday- will do again today. Gorgeous weather right now. Praytherosary-I have a hard time staying off the scale too! May follow someone's lead from boards and have hubby hide scale! I know, I'll have him bury it in NJ when he goes! Seriously, it is not good for the soul to be tied to it everyday.

Job search continues- have not heard anything as of yet from folks I spoke to last week. Kids are out of school now- so between them and working on diet and exercise- keeping pretty busy. Do miss work, tho!

I have to agree with the statements about when you are not eating junk food in a free-for-all way, it really does taste better when you have some thing you normally don't. That Forbidden Fruit thing, I guess! A couple of thoughts I would also add are that food in general seems to taste better to me. Since more thought and care is going into what you have, also that you are consuming less- what you eat is more important to you. It's definitely a quality vs. quantity issue. My eyes can fill with tears over the wonderful taste of a piece of fresh grilled salmon. I guess I had a love affair with food before- now it is a lasting, mature relationship!

New kitten (Peek-a-Boo) still leaping and hopping all over us at night. I will post pics of him- and other furbabies- when I figure out how! I wish you could hear this adorable little sound he makes when he plays. It's sort of a tiny meow, a purr and a grunt rolled into one!

Well, that's about it for now, girls- have a wonderful day!

Hey Barb! Nice to hear from you. Glad you are walking. Here when we get our lazy butts out of bed to go walking we are up at 4:30 am and usually out the door by 4:45 am and it's already 80 degrees! You are soaking wet before you even get the dog's leash on. Anyway I love cats too! And I WILL NOT weigh in until Friday or Saturday morning! Our scale is a doctor's scale so if you move it it goes out of wack and it's kind of hard to hide, but I feel that if I don't stop this I will become too obsessed. Anyway will go to the movies this afternoon and NOT overeat. If we go eat out afterwards will take the meal and first thing cut it in half. Have a blesse day.

Thanks so much everyone for your warm welcome and great advice...it does seem a bit easier to focus on a little number than a huge overwhelming number like 100!! You guys really make me want to stick to it and become the best person I could be! I'm planning on going shopping today and getting some healthy food/snacks and getting a food/exercise journal, do think a journal like that would help?? Anyhoo, thanks again for beign so nice!!! Hope everyon has a great day and talk to you soon!! Thanks again!!!

Harlow girl,
I think a food/exercise journal works very well. I do one myself and it keeps me honest with myself, plus when I am stuggling, I can look back at when I was doing well, and get a "road map", so to speak of how to get back on track.

Have fun shopping!

Susie

I agree with Susie that journals are excellent tools, in addition to logging in food and exercise you can log in feelings and see where your destructive patterns come in and also positive things you have done to lift you up. We went to the movies and did ok. We went eat at Applebee's after and the first thing I did was cut the meal in half and I couldn't even eat the half so now I have lunch today and supper for tonight. Anyway have to get ready for work. Have a blessed day.

I too keep a journal... Not only does it keep you honest with yourself, but it helps me keep track so I can enter all of my calorie stuff into fitday. Another thing it does for me is deter me from eatting certain things... I see something and say "Ooooo...I want one of those!" and then I think that I will have to write it in my journal and I don't want to have to have that in there, so I tell myself I don't want it enough to have to write it and just move on... it's great!

Default Good Morn to all!

Hello Hello everyone!

Just wanted to pop in real quick and say good morn to all and I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

CG Susie on not gaining any weight! And I LOVE your statement on what you deserve. It's a great outlook ( that I may borrow ).

Hug - I don't have any advice on how to avoid eating "bad foods", lol...I just battle the craving everyday and there's no easy way for me to do it other than to understand why it is I shouldn't. But there are tons of ppl here with tricks and ideas that I borrow from constantly! I'm sure someone will have a great tip to help you.

Hope everyone had great weekend!

Angel

Hello everyone...I know, it's been about two weeks since I've posted and I feel really guilty!

My DH was gone for two weeks (went to Europe) and I went a little crazy. Planning to get back on track here. It's SO hard to get back into the groove! I'm sure I've gained a few pounds but I don't think it's anything major.

Just to get back on track for now...that's the plan.

Welcome back Girlie. I went to the store the other day because I needed a couple of new jeans and shirts for work so I bought 2 in my correct size and one a size smaller and that way I'll make sure I lose weight to fit into it and when I do lose weight I'll have at least one shirt to wear. Another suggestion, go to any clothing store and try on clothes and remember the sizes and then go after you lose weight and try them on to see if you would wear smaller sizes, that is fun to do, either alone or with a friend, it's a good motivator. Anyway good luck everyone.

Trying on clothes used to be a downer, but lately it has been fun... I play a different game though...Guess which size will fit since I wear different sizes in different stores... Mostly 14 or 16, but on Saturday I went to New York and Company and tried on a dress... I was feeling hopeful so I tried on a size 12...and it FIT, I was soooo excited!!!!

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I was AWOL yesterday. Had on of those days where my Interstitial Cystitis flared up and I was hurting badly. All I could concentrate on was getting out of pain. I"m feeling better today and praying that I stay that way!

Even though I was hurting, I did manage to go for a walk. That helps some.

Tardy: You are welcome to borrow my outlook..we ALL deserve to reach our goals! I know you will do it!

Girlie: Welcome back. It's not important that you got off track..what's important is that you've come back! I'm sure you didn't do to much damage.

Pray: I love that suggestion about trying on clothes to remind us of where we have been and where we are going!

Jen: WOW! I size 12!! What a dream come true!

It's good to be back and I hope everyone has a wonderful day. Stay fit gals!

Susie
