Congratulations on the weight loss, Arabella!!!! :hb: Looks like thou hadst a good day!!! :jig:

Going to go ahead and post my exercise for today because I'm about to hone in on lunch and then work: 5 minutes :tread: (I count EVERYTHING), 30 minutes aerobics class (fun), 30 minutes yoga, 60 minutes tai chi! Will be back with menu later, going to bed EARLY as I'll be working a festival all day ... lots of walking up and down hills involved so I'll finish the 390 minutes for this week that way. Huzzah!

Amarantha2 03-19-2004 08:06 PM

Sorry for two in a row but I'm making these now and they'll be on my menu that I'll post tonight, so ...

Good to be home....

I missed reporting in every day. Maybe if I could've checked in I would've behaved better! :o :^: :o The good news is it's nothing like the gastronomic debauchery of my past, but it was absolute food orgy by my standards today. So I'm feeling a little puffy because of it. Too much Indian food and too many sweets. No matter, I'll deal with it this week when I go completely back on program. That was fun, but my old frame can only take so much.

So, it's official---Spring is upon us. Happy Equinox!!! :D

anagram 03-20-2004 07:02 PM

I'm cutting me off for the day and also going to shut down the computer for the day.

I'm in a ballpark 1800 calories, I think. Not my best day but surely not my worst.

Apple 100

Toasted bagel w/pb 600?

Carrot 50

When in doubt, round up! I did.

Amarantha2 03-20-2004 08:48 PM

And happy equinox to thee Eydie and Anagramatic and Arabella and Wildfire and Ceara and Dollar and whatever other :queen: s have posted on this thread!!!! I'm back from a grueling day covering a fiesta and posting early also and shutting down the computer as I'm TIRED! Did ok, not the most nutritious of days and there WAS that caramel frappacino, but it was quite hot and I'm still not feeling well and walked all day and had left my cooler of food in the office, sooooo when they delayed one event I wanted to shoot, I absolutely had to have the drink to keep going ... except coffee is dehydrating so I'd have been better off finding something else, except there wasn't anything ... so ... the following is a partial list. I may have something else later but won't post it ... I'm thinking the frappacino is higher than I've put it but that's what's in the calorie book, sooooo ... exercise was walking around all day, although sometimes I sat down ... but I at least got enough in to reach my 390 minutes for the week and I'm starting a new three-week initiative tomorrow after I weigh in and see where I am.

Good mornin' all...went to a late St.Patty's day do last night...had 2 Harps and some really good food...I mean healthy...and good conversation. And slept like a rock. It was relaxing to socialize with people who do not connect into my life in any other way than just as neighbours.....

T'day is HRM's weigh-in! Well?

I need to know...does thinking about exercise count? .............Thought not.

I've been on a seefood and drink whatever diet....not a lot, just not good choices or times....today is a new day!

Gotta go!

Have a :cb: I did! :cb:

Happy first day of spring!

Yo, yo, yo and yo!!!! :balloons: The weight o' the amazing and fantastic Empress Amarantha hath NOT changed in a seven-day!!! She be smilin' about that with her Irish eyes, Queens, as this meaneth that she did NOT go back into the 150s!!! Huzzah!!! No applause, please. Just send flowers!!! :flow1:

But seriously folkes and folkettes, my new Ultima Initiative (aka personal challenge) begins today. Weight loss goal is 146. The initiative focuses on health, weight and fitness but includes a list of subgoals that will bring life into balance so's I CAN focus on health, weight and fitness. I will complete the Ultima Initiative in two phases, evaluating and mayhap setting new parameters when I reach Phase II. I will continue to report here everyday unless work or illness force me to skip a day or so or if the computer dies or all my compadres on this thread decide to give it up and if they do, I shall send the Fierce Fitness Compliance Crone (FFCC) after them!!! :rollpin: :fr: :yikes: Likewise if Amarantha tries to give up or give in or makes a bunch of stupid excuses, the FFCC will come after her as well and chase her back to Ultima Land (where the sky be always blueth with fleecy white clouds and the grass smelleth sweet and the wind bloweth cooly through sylvan pastures and balanced blood sugar and sensible weight maintenance/loss be the rule o' the day for the fabulously fit population)!!!!!

Ok, my personal Ultima Initiative containeth the following directives to Amarantha (aka ORDERS :drill: ) ... Exercise 400 minutes per week, eat a weekly average of no more than 1800 calories (thus allowing for CHEATING :cp: on some days :cp: )!!!

Subgoals (which are NOT mandatory, just a good idea) are to continue to strive for the healthy balanced carb/protein mini meal lifestyle, continue to meet all my life committments and unexpected challenges and not use them as a reason to gain weight and do beadwork every day!

That is all, over and out! I'll be back with my food/exercise report anon!

Amarantha2 03-21-2004 09:58 PM

Sunday: Ok on calories but balanced nutrition and exercise lagging. The FFCC be lurking outside the door urging me to sleep so's I can be at gym early tomorrow!

Hello,
Just as promised on the other thread I am here to assert that I will eat well, journal, exercise and meet my goal of 140 by the summer solstice. 13 weeks. 13 pounds. Easy math.

So far I am off to a good start today. Tofu scramble with brown rice and broccoli and some tahini toast. And coffee of course.

I will be back later for the lunch report.

Amarantha2 03-22-2004 04:36 PM

FFCC speaks out!!!

Yowza, we have our legal eagle :queen: Z in the house!!!! :cp: And she be taking aim at the summer solstice!!! Huzzah!!! Great goals, Zadie, and thanks for sharing!!!

Likewise thanks as always to :queen: Anagramatic for that Sunday report ... looks as though thou didst well, Anagram!!!! Huzzah!!!!

I'm doing an early exercise report because before I forget ... did one hour towards my 400 weekly minutes: 20 walk/run on treadmill, 40 weights, total body with core focus! Unfortunately, it's getting somewhat warm here in good ol' AZ and after gym I was moved to have a DQ caramel sundae ... full menu report tonight!!!

:queen: E, where be thee? :queen: Arabella the Wood Nymph? :queen: Ceara? All other regular and semi-regular food/exercise thread journalisimos? Let's go, our wonderful goals await and it's almost summer!!! We need to stick to our gunneths, post our efforts and inspire each other ... (P.S., that last message is from the phantom FFCC aka Fierce Fitness Compliance Crone, not Amarantha, who'd really rather eat dulce de leche sundaes and read magazines all day rather than work out!)

OKEY DOKEY!

It's supposed to rain for the next 3 days so I played ball with the heathens early...before the ground unfroze and became soggy, and I have cut some fresh kitty willows....they look so fuzzy...

Still have only a glimmer in mine eye re: exercise. Motivation where be thou? Thee? Canna make up me mind.

We had a water event here last Tuesday...one of the pipes in the upper bathroom sprang a little pinhole and DH had to clear out the vanity, so while it is cleared we are painting it so I must be off! That will be some movement.

Hopefully I can curb my eating everything in sight behavior today.

Ok, dokey, we've got :queen: s Ceara and Zadie back in the Kitchen Parlor o' Divine Food 'n Fitness!!!! Yowza!!! Yur looking good C n' Z ... methinks playing with the canines counts as exercise (unless it be my Old Dog, when it really is veeeery sedate)!!!! Had to go work in newsroom this a.m. and succumbed to a few bad food choices but just went shopping and it's looking good for evening. Will have to exercise tonight as I need to take a nap and eat a meal first!!!!! I'll be back (Arnold voice) with me little reportie!!!! Avast!

Amarantha2 03-23-2004 08:23 PM

Yo!

Avast, a wandering band o' Merry Pirates hath shown up at Amarantha's chamber door and hath challenged her to a TUESDAY NIGHT TOURNAMENT!!!! The game is for all the pirates and Amarantha to NOT follow BFL's eat-every-three-hour thing for tonight only and to quit eating after 6 p.m. ... which is NOW, more or less!!! A crowd of well-wishers be gathering in the courtyard as Amarantha and the pirates take their places at the finish line ... huzzah!!! :cp: Who will go the distance, Amarantha or the pirates? Film at 11.

In the interest o' A winning her Tuesday challenge and leaving those pouty pirates by the wayside stuffin' their faces before the midnight hour heraldeth the new eating day, A be asking me, Elberta Crone, the fab 100-year-old nutrition expert that cooks for her, to post her Tuesday menu and exercise report NOW ... at 6:24 p.m. ... because she intendeth to not eat anything else and more exercise dinna seem very likely either!

Sis, boom, bah!!!!

zadie k 03-24-2004 11:39 AM

Yesterday finished off with a lunch of a cucumber, tomato and cream cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread, a snack of yogurt and pasta with veggies for dinner. And a oatmeal raisin cookie. On balance, not too bad.

Today so far: oatmeal with raisins. And coffee.

Just narrowly avoided a brush with girl scout cookies.

Amarantha2 03-24-2004 03:21 PM

Yowza!!! Huzzah!!! Hooray for :queen: Z who fought off an assault from the dreaded Girl Scout Cookie Demon  !!!! :cp: Good going, Zadie!!! You're moving on down those 13 weeks!!!! Huzzah! :cheer:

Amarantha hath had a small victory over  Food herownself. Though she vowed to do this only once a week, her treats are getting to be once a day (which is kinda ok). Depression hit after gym and a nap and the realization she hath no work assignments (good also) and no life, so she hied off to DQ AGAIN for a SMALL caramel sundae. Ate the caramel and half the ice cream and THREW THE REST AWAY (thus bringing the calorie count to where it's really supposed to be)!!!

Reporting Wednesday exercise now and will be back with menu tonight or tomorrow: 20 weight room, 30 aerobics class/abs, 30 yoga, 60 tai chi! :jig: Over and out!

zadie k 03-24-2004 04:41 PM

Ack. Just failed to exercise proper portion control over a massive bowl of turkey wild rice soup and wheat bread. At least it was not tragic food choice like fudge or something.

Amarantha2 03-24-2004 05:38 PM

That sounds good and healthy, though, Zadie!!!! Fudge is evil. We don't like it, right?

I'm absolutely craving carbs and having whole wheat pitas warmed in microwave and sprayed w/butter spray at every meal it seems. These are a lifesaver right now. I need to eat a meal w/vege and fish or something but it's too much trouble! Later ...

deleted2 03-24-2004 05:49 PM

I'm not feeling my best today and am making poorer food choices than normal. Lots of snack-y things that don't require any effort or thought--and not nearly enough water! Today was supposed to be my big aerobic day, but my old frame just couldn't do it, so I did 50 min. of Pilates instead. May do some yoga later--or not.
It's a miracle that my scale is still showing my weight at 135! :D

anagram 03-24-2004 07:31 PM

Kashi Good Friends cereal w/2% milk

2 viactiv
cup ham and split pea soup (ummm!)

Kashi Heart to Heart cereal

I think I've managed to save the day after my chip excursion. Note I'm not even crazy about chips but there they were and they were good and not overly abundant.

Fudge, who said fudge? I've been having my periodic craving for PB fudge. Good thing I'm really fussy about it. Will probably have some pb in diet tomorrow but hopefully not fudge. PB fudge - my biggest weakness.

Feel better, Eydie.

Amarantha2 03-24-2004 10:04 PM

Yo, :queen: E, 50 minutes of Pilates is AWESOME!!!! You're doing great! But I'm sorry thou feelest not up to par!!! Howsomever, methinks it be ok to not always do thy usual grueling workout!!!! Congrats on the maintaining ... I'll be joining thee anon ... in fact, we're ALL gonna be joining thee in the maintainers circle ...

Yowza, :queen: Anagramatic, congrats on the save-the-day-after-chips!!! :) I like Kashi cereals also ... wish they still sold the fruited grab-and-go cooked kashi in asceptic packaging. I loved that. Maybe I can order it online ... I'll have to look. Ahhhh, pb fudge ... ... hast thou ever tried a pb smoothie? Lots of ways to make it ... I like soymilk, honey, a graham cracker, ice and some pb ... my new healthier way might be cottage cheese, splenda, cocoa and pb ... a lot of people use bananas in these but I react badly to bananas. Anyway, this is great for pb cravings!

trying this again after losing an earlier post. I did ok last night, but not great. Leif's birthday, so...1/2 a stuffed chicken breast, corn, a small dollop of mashed potatoes and, unfortunately, a slice of birthday cheesecake.

today I redeemed myself with a yogurt breakfast and a spinach salad so far.

Amarantha2 03-25-2004 04:23 PM

Looking good, Zadie!!! :cp: Chicken sounds good.

I've had a bad day and lost temper and been overly candid with publisher and the court system (both) and am ready to retire. This has led to over consumption of calories and sugar, which I'm trying to balance with carb control shakes. Will post the damage tonight!!!

Eydie, I replied to thy pm!!!! Hang in! Think, think, think (Pooh madly tapping head)!

anagram 03-25-2004 08:04 PM

1/2 portion pretzel stix

I think I topped 2000 today and that's a nono - but no binging or gorging. I twice today was in places which had for sale (and right there on the counter) homemade peanut butter easter eggs. I passed them up, royal folk< and that's a toughie for me>. And they'll only be around for a few more weeks, so it's now or never. I think last year I did buy two that the E.B. left for me on Easter. Not sure. I think I'll try to do without them this year. Am I strong enough? Also have not yet succumbed to the call of the jelly beans.

Indulged in lots of emotional eating today. Tomorow will be better. :^:

Amarantha2 03-26-2004 12:38 AM

Yo!

Well, Eydie, feeleth not like the Lone Rangerette in the emotional eating 'cause I did it, too!

Anagramatic, feeleth not alone in topping 2000 'cause, well, you weren't the only one (report below)!!! :coffee: Congrats on passing up the homemade Easter candy ... I personally did NOT pass on candy eggs and that's gotta stop 'cause it's a long time until Easter ... I think, actually I don't know when Easter is this year ... we need the holiday challenges back, methinks!!! Your pb smoothie soundeth good ... cottage cheese is so useful ... I used to make a lowfat cheesecake with it ... might try it again soon.

Here's my report. I really like this thread. It's interesting to report it here every night because when I just journal it in my own hard drive or in a notebook for myself I don't really look at it again. And journaling it in a separate journal on the 3FC journal forum is just kind of pointless and lonely. I feel this way we share a conversation about our eating and exercise.

From looking at today, I see I'm eating too much protein and not enough produce. Also the sugary treats have to go. I'm noticing that when I stick to BFL clean eating I have a hard time eating enough calories but when I stick in even a few sugary treats, I have a hard time controlling calories. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure why I have weight and health problems!

Speaking of emotional eating - I'm fighting the urge right now. I FEEL like having something like a whole rye bagel w/peanut butter. For the third morning in a row, RA is so rough I'm ready to call for prednisone. Don't want to for obvious weight gain reasons. But toughing it out is tougher sometimes than others. I also had more applesauce last night because I required another pill (which clearly says take with food). I did not take it with food, had the applesauce when I developed stomach problems and then went to bed early so I'd be asleep until they went away.

Okay, I think I'll have oatmeal. Right? Right!

Kaylets 03-26-2004 06:56 AM

Hello all!

Sorry to hear eveyrone is struggling the past few days but at least I know its not just me....
In fact, is it full moon??

Yesterday I had to struggle ... so many times, the idea of "eat till you're sick to your stomach" came to mind.... ??? ....
but I do realize, this was triggered by emotions, being tired, etc....
Amazing what we do almost by just reflex when we are not feeling ourselves...

And I give myself a big gold star for sitting thru a "brunch" of all but one item that was safe for me....( boxes of donuts, cookies, muffins, pepperoni, homemade banna pudding, homemade sticky buns.....

I grabbed three or four flex points of cheese and drank water and coffee....Luckily, I noticecd two other ladies were doing the same as I was... just avoiding...smiling, talking...

And you know what else I noticed?? Most of the "slim" people, filled their plate moderately, ate slowly and DID NOT refill....

Which again, makes me wonder why I am so affected by "supersize" and "all you can eat" mentality and so many at the brunch were not..... or were they quietly working their plan????
This certainly was not a LO CARB brunch....

The cottage cheese smoothie sounds interesting...have to take a look...
