Ah! Morning
And I am in a much better mind set I think. I fasted 24 hours successfully. Not that big a deal, but it was for me. I managed to control 1 thing in my life for that time. Now onwards. T'day's challenge....just fruit and veggies and lots of water. Benefit of fast...I discovered that I like apple juice cut with 1/2 water (got ya there didn't I?) and hot....I'm just so cold these days....likely still a leftover from the extended TOM....chilled to the bone most of the time.....And I dress in mega layers!!!!
Am off to try Mr Treadmill again.... and then brekkie. Got the girls out in the runs already and have some runnin' around to do! Congrats on the great losing guys.....I hope to join you soon...a lot of this is in the mind I hear.... Ceara  :drill: |
Ceara, I wish that my Garry would drink his apple juice cut with water. It's one of the little things we 'argue' about. He loves the stuff and I say it's just empty sugar calories, and have the apple instead. He's all grown up and I try not to say anything at all......oh well. It's such a burden being perfect and possessing the wisdom of the ages. :o
|
Yo!!! Crazy day and the food challenge bit the dust again since I decided to stay for a second session of woodcarving this afternoon and now have to run off to do a late meeting and have been eating all wrong and too much. So I'm going to try the Thursday, Friday, Saturday 28-point thing again and hope I haven't gained back that friggin'!!!!! Yo!!!! See ya, you slayers are doing great ... it's freezing here and all I want to do is eat and retire from work for the rest of life, or just eat, that'd work, too!!!!!
Yo, definetely, I think all juices should be cut with water ... don't agree they're totally empty calories but they're too high ... anyhow, gotta go!!!! Yo, again!!! |
Ok now....
Ok yesterday was good...is coffee cream a vegetable or fruit? If not I made it so yesterday...part of my ":queen:lie" rights. Had a successful day with that challenge. Drank lots of water besides.
Today thus far I've et a tbsp of cottage cheese...snitched when I fed the puppy...and had a coffee....prolly why I'm having a typo problem. So today I will go back to my basics...and the challenge is not to eat AFTER 7!!!! By the By I've been alcohol free since Monday or that was the last I had...so do I say Tueday? Too much higher brain function for me  Am off to hunt up the elusive oat meal and then attack the table clutter and the treadmill in those orders! Ceara :drill: |

Nothing quite satisfied me. I could've kept up the search and eaten a lot more! |
Feb 5---Thursday

2 ww toast w/ peanut butter, ff cream cheese, lettuce, carrots clementine strawbery yogurt smoothie 1 pc. cornbread Slimfast bar [130 cal] Salad [lettuce, vegs, ff feta, ff Italian, 2 tbsp. almonds, soy 'chik' patty] lo-fat ice cream sandwich snax: sm bowl veg. bean soup 4 ww crackers w/ peanut butter 3 pcs. dark chocolate Calories: 1800 Exercise: 20 min. Pilates**20 min. Dumbells**40 pushups**200 crunches**4 miles treadmill Another "prowly" day for me. I couldn't find anything that really satisfied me, so I was still considering eating at 8:00 last night even tho I wasn't hungry. I hope this is just a fluke, hope it's not some new self-sabotage thing my wily brain has come up with. At least I'm doing well with working out! |
Yo!
Hmmm. All members of the  Food Slayer Contigent seem to be doing well except for Amarantha!!!! Yesterday was another off day ... just eating to medicate my emotions, etc., etc., but still moving forward nutritionally, although calories have been high. I've decided the every two week weigh-in may be happening this week as well. So trying to hold the line for a few days and set new mission goals on Sunday!!! My sugary laden menu so far has been:
EAS carb control Scottish oatmeal w/tablespoon Turbinado sugar 2 pkgs pb cup (4 cups) Planned for lunch/early dinner: salmon w/dill, corn, broccoli I've been searching everywhere for barley, as the original Body For Life book noted that this was a good carb to enjoy with a protein serving ... I'm trying to think of different grains to fill that role than always brown rice or corn. Coucous is a thought but I can't find the whole wheat variety. Oh, well, the search goeth on! Later ... |
No, no, no,...
Thou art not the only one Empress A....I too findeth meself aimlessly cruisin' the larder as :queen: Eydie hath described. Eating after 7 was not met last night...although food for the day wasn't bad....and still no alcohol. But may socially have a wine with dinner :dunno: maybe. Will see. No I am NOT DOING WELL....even with small things at a time....think I need to handcuff my wrists to my sides...I'd prolly use my feet then
Ceara  :drill: |
Hello .....
I like barley too... specially in soup-- think I found a sweet barley dessert recipe too but never put it together.... We passed on Chinese takeout last night as DH didnt come home b/4 bowling....usually that's Thursday dinner but its been too usual if you know what I mean....I've been eating dinner and saying... what's next... Just beginning to realize it really is Friday night... guess the ice storm/ flooding had me on edge...now that I'm home I am unwinding.... We bought wonton wrappes a while ago ... anyone know how long they will last in the fridge?? Unopened?? I bet they've been sitting there too long... Anyway... |
Yo, :queen: K, I think thou canst freeze the wonton skins but they don't last long unless you do ... could be wrong, though. Just what someone told me. Where dost thou get thy barley btw, I couldn't even find it at Trader Joe's?
:queen: Ceara, methinks I'll definetely be joining thee in the food free after 7 hour! Have eaten carefully today but the  be lurking and whispering in my shell-like ear: "Suuuuuugaar laden treats to be had at the convenience store down the street. Or go to Walmart. Life sucks, Walmart be forever and they have dooooooonuts there!!!!!!" Beware!!!! Found out that a young woman who inspires me at the gym because of her strength and positive attitude is training to get on to the U.S. Olympic team for something-or-other. I love to see how strongly she trains ... was thinking about our  food missions here and wonder if she ever eats pb cups? Probably not too often! :) Here's my final menu, plan to eat about 2-3 more points later ... esp. if I decide to make the whole wheat, high pro oatmeal cookies I have planned for this weekend: EAS carb control shake (2 points) Scottish oatmeal w/tablespoon Turbinado sugar & butter spray (3 points) 2 pkgs pb cup (4 cups, total 10 points) EAS carb control shake (2 points) Scottish oatmeal w/tablespoon Turbinado sugar & butter spray (3 points) Dilled salmon (2 points) Brussel sprouts w/butter spray (1 point) Corn w/butter spray (2 points) Planned for later 2-3 points Total points: 27-28 Avanti! |
Ok, Food Slayers, listen up!!!! This be Elberta Crone, the oh-so-fab-100-year-old-babe-who-looketh-and-feeleth-so-good-because-she-eateth-so-healthily, and I have a few announcements for the gathering!!!! Welcome to the Imperial Kitchen and this meeting of the  Food Slayers/Challengers Club.
We be the best and most consistent group o' food slayers/challengers and  Food (not cake) summoners within a radius o' 15 magik :queen: doms!!!! WE WILL PREVAIL over the forces o' milk chocolate with peanut butter, caloric wine and just general nutritional slackiness!!!!! RIGHT? Right! I can't HEAR ye, Amarantha!!!! :drill: Right? RIIIIIIGHT!!! Too right! Ok, Amarantha, what be THY  food challenge for today? And by-the-by, didst thy points total hold last night? It did not, EC, but all my food was  food. Not cake, I hope! Nope! Anyway my  Food Challenge for today is to get back on track with 28-30 points AND NO PB CUPS! Amen? Amen. Anyone else? Let's step up to the plate, Slayers and make this a  Food Challenge Saturday!!! Yay! Ok! Bye! |
My  food challenge today will be to simply keep my calorie count at or below 1500. There's been too much creeping up the last few days. My own clever inner demon, I think.

Yea, :queen: E, them  s are sneaky ... creepy and sneaky!!! Stay strong!!! I will, too!!!!
Am thinking of a lemon bar whole wheat makeover this weekend! Soundeth doable! |
Empress, I was in Wal-Mart today and saw quick-cooking barley in their tiny 'kosher' section--maybe you could look there. I wonder if there's a big difference in the fiber content of the whole natural barley vs. pearl barley. [I always think Pearl Bailey when I say that! ]
|
Eydie-- Did you make the blintzes yourself?? Sounds delish!
DH just made steamed apples w/ cranberries-- 3 apples sliced in water w/ splenda and cinammon...we put a handful of fresh cranberries too.. then served w/ big dollop of vanilla yogurt in the middle.... yum. Went to the library and found a Moosewood Daily Specials Cookbook.. I have no idea what took me so long to realize "soup" and "supper" are related words... Anyway..... I remain candy free... in fact, I have a new "mantra" when faced w/ a temptation.... "Do I want to start a binge over......?"......So far, its worked w/ bagels... and some cookies a coworker had on her desk... you know those big bags of sandwich cookies... these were Peanut butter sandwiches.... I know one of these times I will be faced with something that yes, might be worth a binge..... but so far...so good... |
Yo, Slayers, must report that today's mission for Amarantha was a failure! We aren't even gonna talk about it and Amarantha be glad she decided to go for the two week weigh-in again this month ... this Saturday binge may NOT be over yet, :queen: s!!!
Howsomever, A be not discouraged and intendeth to get back on track tomorrow and have a nice weigh-in next week. This is going to involve some debingeing and lots of healthy experimental cooking and Elberta Crone hath been pressed into service because A needeth healthy baked goods and stuff for travel, especially Tuesday which shall be a killer day. Exercise needeth to get back on track as well. Eydie: I'll look in Walmart, thanks! I did find two interesting items in Basha's natural food section (Basha's is a grocery chain). I've been looking in vain for brown rice syrup, which even Trader Joe's doesn't sell anymore, so was pleased to find barley malt syrup (which is similar to the brown rice syrup only with a bit more of a bite) ... it was almost $6 a jar but worth it (needless to say I ate a tablespoon of it as soon as I could get it open). This will make good muffins, or maybe gingerbread bars with whole wheat four and protein powder, mayhap? :) The second item was bulgar wheat ... I'm going to make a pilaf (sp?) with this sometime as soon as I can find some good salmon to go with it. I'm amazed at how much my diet is starting to resemble Body For Life again ... except in my case, I'm having several of those "free" days a week ... clothes are tight. :queen: s I need to get these demons outta the :queen: dom!!!! Tomorrow! I'm posting a new challenge and going to go at it! Ok, bye! Finally finished work ... messed up and lost some info I need but sent the story anyway hoping they can fix it for me ... sigh ... brain dead! Congratulations to Kaylets for remaining candy free and to Eydie for her good day and to Ceara for the good day I KNOW she's going to report!!!!! Yowza! |
ALL ABOUT AMARANTHA: Sorry to shout, :queen: Slayers, it is I, Elberta Crone, the fab-well-you-know ..., reporting that the fab Empress Amarantha be about her  Food banishing missions with gusto this a.m. ... she cometh into the palace kitchen and saith, "EC, I've had it with counting points as it is artificial and doth not reflect my scientific belief that calories DO count. Fiber and lower fat be good but there is no real science that saith that fiber makes foods less caloric. Accordingly, please tell the imperial nutritionist that I be wishing to set up future menus and challenges on a counting calories basis. I shall henceforth strive to eat in a modified Body for Life (or Zonelike, if thou prefer that term) pattern of small healthy low glycemic meals roughly balanced between carb/protein/fat and continue in the quest of learning to bake treats this way.
Editing: Decided to get real and weigh in and I'm only up 2. This is good, considering. Will change my sig now and set out on the mission being as pure as an  (not cake)! Amarantha's February Food Quest I, Amarantha, pledgeth this day, Sunday, Feb. 8, to set forth on a 21-day quest to banish the Binge Demon , a particularly evil member of the Demon Food gang  that be seemingly forever loose in the royal neighborhood. To accomplish this banishing, I’m pledging to eat in a range of no more than 1500 calories six days a week and no more than 1500-2000 one day a week so’s my metabolism will stay strong!!! :strong: :rollpin: Though this be not about eating, but in a way is, I further pledge to exercise 360 minutes each week of the three week challenge! Quest Report: Week 1, Day 1 & Counting; Calories ????, Exercise ?? Minutes |
Kaylets, I didn't make the blintzes--Brand name was Ian's--got them at the natural foods market. They were quite good and they really hit the spot! I was at Wal-Mart yesterday checking out their meatless frozen stuff. I saw a meatless version of sweet and sour 'pork' and meatless 'chicken' and gravy. I thought I'd seen it all with the veggie corn dawgs! Will wonders never cease? Of course I bought them--gotta support that!
Amarantha, if you don't mind I'm going to steal your idea of 1500 calories 6 days, 2000 one day. I like the idea of having a little something extra one day a week! I'm with you, counting calories has been "the way" for me. Like it or not, calories do count. And it's done wonders for my math skills----really! When I met Susan Powter she told me that she takes in between 3000-4000 calories a day. Well, God bless her---wish I could have that much! Maybe if I had her energy.... I also want to make sure I take all my supplements this week. I've parcelled them all out into their little compartments for the week. I don't know why it's so easy for me to forget them. Gotta make it a habit. Have I mentioned---I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!! :D |

coffee w/ ff 1/2 and 1/2
spinach frittata 2 'sausages' clementine 2 ww toast w/ humuus, spinach, peppers, cucumber tomato soup spinach frittata 1 c. ww pasta w/ butter buds, brocolli snax: ff vanilla pudding w/ strawberries and banana Snickers 'Marathon' bar calories: 1475 fiber: 26 grams fat:42 grams water: 7 cups exercise: 3 miles walk If you haven't tried it yet, the snickers 'marathon' is good, but I'm not deluding myself that it's anything more than candy. I'd have it again when I'm in a candy bar mood though. Best thing about it was it was chewy and lasted a while! |
Hmmm--- I was researching the marathon bar when I was thinking of doing my speech on marketing-- I expected it to be the same nutritional content as the "origional" snickers bar... was suprised that it was less sugar and fat and even more fiber...
In the store today pointed out to GF the ***fast soups have sugar in them... who would expect? Marketing...... :?: :dizzy: |
Yo!
Doing well on the calories, though I DID have pb cups (sue me!) !!! ;)
Baking a crab cake for dinner with corn. Will post a whole menu tonight or tomorrow a.m. but confident I'll make it through at 1500 ... still have my "cheat" day of 1500-2000 to save for emergencies (maybe Tuesday). Set up all my calorie and exercise spreadsheets again ... really ready to go for my pre-spring goal! Eydie, I'm thrilled to have thee "steal" my idea ... actually it's a version of the good ol' Body For Life ... I need to work in that cheat day, though I don't eat "clean" all the time as one is supposed to on the other six days ... just gonna focus on calories. Re that, hope this is ok, 3FC, but I'm going to mention a magazine by name ... I don't work for them (would though, if they should ask ... hey, guys, I'm a writer/editor) ... anyhow, I like a "diet" that's in the new Energy mag ... it's not a "diet" (as it explains) where one is deprived ... it outlines a plan for eating clean three days and having a free day, then eating clean for three days, then free day, etc., or it just encourages you to mix them up anyway you can. It has a handy list of "clean" and "free" day foods and explains the nutritional principles of "clean" eating (basically the Body For Life way, which is very healthy, IMO). I like Susan Powter's energy, too. Must have been inspiring to meet her. Kaylets: I haven't seen the Marathon bar ... must check it out ... except I've just emailed my brother a pledge to give up candy (except for sweets I make myself with healthy ingredients ... can't wait to get at that barley malt syrup but I've been too tired to cook today ... will have time tomorrow because I'm only working a late meeting and nothing else). We'll see if the no candy thing helps ... it's not part of my 21-dayer ... Gotta go, was thinking today that the friendship with unhealthy eating is just like when my friend of many years dumped me inexplicably ... it really bothered me for a long time ... today I realized that for some time now I've been more free in what I say and do and believe because I realize I was heavily influenced by her friendship, her depression and limited world view ... would never have shared with her the prayer to Artemis that I posted on the other thread (it may seem trivial to pray for diet help, but believe me it is not) ... she would not have understood ever having a serious thought about the Goddess ... ok, I'm rambling but trying to say (trust me, this is food related) that the little packages of cupcakes, candy, whatever in the convenience stores that I thought were my friends are really keeping me from being the person I'm meant to be. Food begone! I'll stop rambling now! I really love this thread, too, Eydie. Will post recipes when I do some more experiments. |

Here we go again!
I shouldda known........no way I gained that much that fast eating what I did....jeez...down 4 pounds this am over yesterday. The TOM (in my case of the week  ) hath arrived with a vengenance....explains the draggy, headachey, b****y way I 've been feeling all week-end....not too tolerant of the 19 year olds' ways these days...not that they are particularly bad...just that I'm less tolerant...and now know why. Think this is in the wrong thread...O well..I have drugs this time...start them next Sunday.
Yes Empress A, yesterday was very good foodwise....I'll list it now but I still don't know calories...maybe I should learn? 2 eggs scrambled, with 2 tbsp cottage cheese (I do this in the microwave in a measuring cup) 2 cups coffee w/6% cream 1 med apple 1 cup whole wheat pasta with 1 cup lentil pasta sauce sprinkle of parmesan cheese 1 chicken breast baked with p cheese 1 cup mashed potatoes w/ grated carrots 1/2 cup turnips, boiled (I LIKE them this way...sorry!) 2 sour dough/rye biscuits, 2 tsp butter desert..2" slice of  food cake w/ fresh slice strawberries and a small scoop of mint ice cream with chocolate ripple. Water...1200 ML. No food after 7 and no wine. Went to bed crabby at 6:30 actually :) . Now  to another good day for all of us....especially me! Today's challenge...healthy human portions, no food after 7, no wine, no booze, lotsa water and some treading...have a full shift...'til 8 so I'm off!! Ceara  :drill: |
Demon Foods Begone!!!!!! That's our Demon Food song!!! Begone! Begone!
Yowza!!! Not the wrong thread, DFS (Demon Food Slayer) Ceara, 'cause all here in the palace kitchen be cheering for thy 4 pounds down!!! :cheer: And they be cheering for thy good food day as well ... EC saith, "Whoopee that be a healthy day o' eatin' there!!!!" Yowza!!! Keep a'goin' and them  s'll be shakin' in there  boots if thy name be only mentioned.
EOEA (that would be Empress o' Everything Amarantha) be off for a busy day as well. She telleth EC (Elberta Crone) to petition the forces o' the universe for strength to face Day 2 of her 21er!!!! Special challenges today are ... sigh ... not wanting to do anything 'cause it's cold (46 degrees right now) and working late in mountains making her want to overeat in the daytime ... today she saith she be going to eat more produce and eat 5 small BFL type meals to approximate 1500 calories and fill in gaps with healthy snacks AND eat no friggin' pb cups! She wanteth to save her high cal day as long as possible as WE KNOW WHAT HAPPENS when them  s are in the neighborhood and nibblin' away at Amarantha's weak brain! Yowza! She may also cook her bulgar pilaf (sp?), even if she can't spell that word. She will post recipes when she hath some. She is doing a detailed food journal today and will share her menu on this thread!!!! Yowza!!! She also will prevail in showing up at gym and exercising to meet her goal of 360 exercise minutes per week (food related 'cause A needeth to BURN those  calories from last week's overage and it be part of her 21er!!!) CAN SHE DO IT! Yowza! She can! 21-Day Challenge Report: Week 1, Day 2 & Counting; Calories ????, Exercise ?? Minutes Let's go out there, DFS folkettes, and win one for the Gipper! Whatever that means ... have a banana ... or two ... :cb: :cb: |
P.S. Ceara, I love thy recipe for eggs w/cottage cheese ... am going to try with Eggbeaters ... as soon as I get some cottage cheese ... mayhap would make a good quick dinner before heading out ... with an orange for dessert? Yowza!!!
This good food talk is inspiring me!!! |
Ok, I'm doing three in a row, but ... my day's been so complex I'm not going to post a menu, but I'm doing great with eating and on target for Day 2. In lieu of menu, I'm going to bore you :queen: s with two experimental recipes ... I'm trying to get protein and complex carb into each meal in the true BFL style:
German Chocolate Protein Brownies Line baking pan w/nonstick foil, spray w/zero cal canola spray, preheat oven to 350. Mix: 1/2 cup self-rising flour 1/2 cup whole wheat flour 2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 scoop Designer Whey Vanilla Praline protein powder 4 tsp. Just Whites egg white powder 1/4 cup Splenda 3/4 carton EAS Chocolate Fudge Carb Control shake 1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese 1 T. barley malt syrup Bake at 350 for approx. 20 minutes or until done. Cool, cut in 12 squares, approx. 55 calories each. Omelet ala Ceara w/sprouted toast 1 container Eggbeaters to equal 2 eggs 1/4 cup fat free cottage cheese 1/4 cup canned mushrooms chives Mix in medium round microwave container and scramble gently, form into omelet shape, eat w/ 1 slice sprouted grain bread toasted in oven and sprayed w/butter spray. Omelet: 80 cal, toast 80 cal. |
Breaking the streak
Am home for supper..
Eating today 3/4 C oatmeal w/ 1/4 C raspberries 2 C coffee w/ 6% cream 1 1/2 C black bean soup 2 rye/sourdough biscuits (homemade) 1 oz almonds 1 small apple 1 chicken breast baked w/ p cheese 1 c boiled turnip ! 1/2 c brussell sprouts And that should do it!!! 2 c of water so far....guess I'll drink at work! Ta-rah! No eating after 7!!! Ceara  |
Not only Queens, but geniuses too!!!! :D First I was intrigued with Ceara's brilliant microwave egg/cottage cheese idea, but then Amarantha knocks it out of the park with her microwave omelette idea. Honestly it never occurred to me to microwave eggs in a pie pan to make an omelette. I'd mostly given up omelettes because I refuse to use the oil it takes to get them to scoot around properly in the pan. But the microwave/ pie pan thing is just crazy enough to work. Can't wait to try a egg sub/ cottage cheese omelette with some clever filling!
Thanks! And it's a quickie too---even better! :) |

Hi, I'm in the newsroom waiting for someone to tell me where they put my camera disk that is supposed to be on this desk!!! Meeting then home and I'm only at 1255 and not hungry. Ya know what, when you DON'T eat 2 packs of pb cups in a day, you have plenty of calories.
Re microwave omelets, Eydie, you have to cook them very gently ... use a rubber spatula, swirl the eggs into a flat shape and micro them for 30 secs or so, then kind of do as you would in a pan ... just keep moving the uncooked egg around to the edges ... don't overcook as the eggs continue to cook even after the power is turned off ... Ceara, thou be a genius with that cottage cheese ... my Eggbeaters were delicious ... also I had the cottage cheese to put in the German chocolate bars ... more like cake than brownies ... they could use a glaze and more cocoa but I couldn't find my cocoa powder ... if you use baking soda and cocoa, btw, you get the characteristic red of traditional devil's food cake. Anyhow, I loved the bars ... Old Dog wanted one but it had chocolate in it, so she couldn't have it. She's mad now. Later ... |
Hmmm thanks guys!
I didn't know I was so brilliant. I've been doing scrambled eggs that way for years....since the kids were kidlets. I don't like washing frying pans and the pyrex measuring cups come clean so quickly...I have occasionally added green onions etc. for meself. The whole process takes about 2 minutes on high with a stir in the midst!
Yesterday was good...so onto 3rd day....challenges the same. Gotta run...programme this am! Ceara  |
Bananas are my favorite because they have appeal ... old joke!
Yo, Ceara, I think green onions would be good w/the cottage cheese. I may get some. Where I grew up we had deep fried cottage cheese patties made w/cottage cheese, green onions, eggs, breadcrumbs, and topped with hot sauce (now called salsa!!!) ... I've never been able to make these low fat ... but putting the onions in with the egg beaters and cottage cheese and microwaving might taste somewhat similar. Yes, you are brilliant.
I want to thank the Demon Food Slayers for participating on this thread as my wonky nutritional profile is getting better and better thanks to your ideas and inspirations. Right now I have a marathon (not the protein bar) day ahead ... this may be the high cal day but if I can stick to the lower range I'll be happy to still have that ace in the hole for the end of the week. Feeling very inspired despite a sinus infection. Last night I zoomed past all the convenience stores on my road home and didn't feel hungry until about 11 p.m., so I had a light meal and watched Surviving the Iron Age. No time for gym today but am going to walk some and have been making up the time to ensure I get the 360 minutes. Will try to post menu tonight ... yesterday's was too complex (repeating myself) but I'm keeping detailed records for the 21 days. 21-Day Challenge Report: Week 1, Day 3 & counting; Day 2 calories: 1480, Day 2 exercise 70 Minutes! Don't forget to have some potassium today!!! Elberta Crone hath left bananas in the larder but Amarantha's allergic to them so feel free, DF Slayers, to take some: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: |
P.S. Do you do the microwaving in pyrex? I used plastic but worry about chemicals leaching ... will try my little pyrex dishes, maybe buy some more.
Ok, bye, Slayers. Have one more banana: :cb: |

And do you find the Cottage Cheese stays with you when you put it in the omelet or is this just your recipe that you've always used?? ** Time for tea! |
Thanks for the recipe, Kaylets! I always forget saurkraut is out there; I'll have to give it a try.
I recall reading in one of my old macrobiotic cookbooks that saurkraut is good for warding off sugar cravings. Just have a spoonful of saurkraut when you're craving cake and...nah, I'm not buying it either! |

Kaylets...I'm interpretting "stays with you" as you don't get hungry quickly? Yes it does in that case...I use it instead of cream or milk which is normally how you "cut" eggs up here when you scramble..or add water...the microwave melts the cottage cheese without drying the eggs to death. The sour dough biscuits are made with white flour...that is what you feed them with...the starter that is..plus milk and sugar. The yeast or whatever is in the sourdough eats up the sugar. (the recipe uses oil, flour, baking soda and powder and salt, or p cheese instead). I have made them with unrefined whole wheat flour but I'd wanna playa bit...they were a bit stonish. That is why I'm currently playing with rye...there isn't as much gluten in rye flour so the flour ratio gets skewed...these weren't tough though...does this help?
What is a big saurkraut...?...a can or do you pickle them whole? Aren't they just pickled salted cabbage? usually shredded? New stuff..I love it! Anyway...am off Ta-rah off to drink hot water...am lacking in that today...feel parchy. Ceara  |
