Jane 01-07-2004 11:45 AM

It's good to be back again!! I made the thread #23 instead of 18, because that is where we left off on Jan. 4. Unfortunately, we lost all the new options, but at least we have the site back!!

Wow!! I can only imagine how horrible the crash has been for Jennifer, Suzanne and Amy, the 3 sister who gave is this site!

While the site was down, Marti, Cristi, Shanna and I kept in touch via email. If you want to be included in case this ever happens again, PLEASE send me a PM with your email address, okay?

Well, I am struggling to stay OP already. After so long of eat whatever I wanted (SHAME on me!!) it is so hard to limit my portions now! I am trying to keep in mind what all of my incentives are, but it is still so hard!!

I've been getting some major cleaning done, and feel good about that! I love it when the house smells like Mr. Clean.

What have you been doing while the site was down?

Jana

Marti 01-07-2004 01:07 PM

Ahhh!! And I wasn't sure how I felt about the new format... I liked it!! That's ok. I see my old avatar is up. Gotta change that. Now it's back to cut and paste with the smilies, bolding and color! :(

Also...all my PM's with your addresses are gone!

Argh!!!! I had written them on my Christmas list and I can't find that either! I am soo disorganized. But I think I can find the cards from Angie, Cristi and Jana... Kayecee & Alyra....could you PM me your addresses? (IF you want that is) Shanna... I already know yours.

Shanna & Alyra---Please re-join! We don't want to lose you!

Ok.. this is short. I need to get ready for school. Yep school. Campus doesn't open until noon, and I only have one class to go to...but it gets me out of the house.

Talk to you later tonight I'm sure.

Marti

SqueakMouse 01-07-2004 02:23 PM

What a bummer losing all funny comments and replies to everyone's postings. Poop, it is hard to come up with clever and quirky replies that will entertain. Oh the humanity of it all!!!!! ;-) Well, I have not even been on this forum a month, but I am addicted and had to register back on here and chat and get to know all of you better. So, Let's hope this crash thing doesn't happen again and we can get back to gabbing, having fun and losing weight.

Kayecee 01-07-2004 08:38 PM

Freaky!

I was really bumfuzzled when I tried to log on and post yesterday and there was NOTHING! OMG! I didn't realize how much I'd miss you girls. I was in a panic because I just realized everybody's e-mail and/or address was on my PM's and I couldn't access that either if this place crashed permanently! :( So pleeeeezzzz PM your addresses and e-mails so that I can copy them somewhere safe. I'll send y'all mine as you log on. See y'all later.

Kayecee 01-07-2004 08:49 PM

Just checking- I PM my address and e-mail to Jana, Marti, and Shanna because they've signed in. Did y'all get it? My user CP shows that I haven't sent any messages so I'm not sure if it's working. :?: When anyone else signs in, I'll send it to you. Bye.

Marti 01-07-2004 08:51 PM

I got it!!

In fact.. I sent you two messages. Let me know if you got them. It says that we may have problems with PM's but I got yours.

Let me know if you got it!

Marti

Kayecee 01-07-2004 08:58 PM

Got it! Ya better read the one I sent back (and don't laugh).

Marti 01-07-2004 09:23 PM

Here I am. Was getting carried away on the other thread.. Forgot I wasn't in the "chitchat" area. And I can go on and on and on...oh wait.. you all know that!;)

Well made it to my first class today. Campus opened up at noon. And that was my last class for the day! I honestly think they should have cleaned up the place a little better before they opened though. All the stairs were COVERED in ice. They only scrapped off a little on a small section... so everyone had to crowd to one side and use the steps!

And get this.. as I was leaving class... I knew there was ice..but dummy me wasn't paying attention, I was focusing on putting my cell phone off vibrating to ring.. and I stepped down... and fell three steps, twisting my ankle. All I heard was.. OMG!! But did anybody offer to help me up?? NOOO!!! I had to get my fat butt back up and climb carefully up the steps I fell on and then go back down the shoveled area!!:o I was so embarrassed! So I quickly walked to my car and got my butt home!

What a way to start the first day!!

I'm not sure how I will do in PowerPoint. I've always wanted to learn.. in fact I took the class years ago.. but don't remember anything. It looks complicated. That or the instructor is just making it sound complicated! My other classes are:

Math
Document Formatting
Business Proofreading and Editing.

Hmmm.. wonder how my grades will turn out!! Let's hope just as good.
Well I better get off for a bit.. I'm sure I'll be back later to check in before bed.

Take Care
Marti

Kayecee 01-07-2004 09:39 PM

Oh no hon! Is your ankle o.k.? Look on the bright side. You could have done what I did when I was in college. I was young, cute, and skinny. There was this one guy at the Baptist Student Union where we all hung out that was sooooooo HOT! :hot: All the girls drooled over him all the time. Of course I was one of them. He decided to walk me out one day and of course I was trying my best to impress. I was in a mini-skirt (you know in the 80's minis were in) and heels with those colored hose that were all the rage. We go down the concrete steps and with about 2 left to go, I go down faster than Pewee Herman in a match with Mike Tyson. :o I pop right up and act like I'm o.k. He's all "Honey, are you sure?" and I'm all "Sure.... no problem." I'm screaming inside cuz my knees are killing me. We make it all the way to my car, he hugs me, leaves, I crawl in and then..... I see that my beautiful colored hose are ripped to shreds and I am bleeding profusely!!! There is NO way that he didn't notice but at least he was gentleman enough to say nothing and let me salvage a little dignity. LOLOLOLOL At the time I was soooo humiliated. (And the bum never asked me out after that- gee... I wonder why! :?: ) LOLOLOLOL

Powerpoint should be pretty easy. I use it all the time with my classes. If you have any questions, just ask and I'll see if I can answer it.

Marti 01-07-2004 09:57 PM

Fantastic!! My very own tutor!! How great is that?!:D

I had to laugh at your 80's attire! I had mini skirts too. And a few years after my daughter was born...(hee-hee) I found one of them and thought it was a tube top!! I was like Holy Cow.. how did I manage to get out of the house in that!! I also had the big 80's hair! Not as big as some of the other girls.. that was a bit much.. but there was no catagory to put me in. I wasn't considered "popular" a "jock" a "stoner".. everybody loved me!:smug: I did have people tell me they considered me border line "waver". I'm like "get out of here!" I even put that colored mousse in my hair. Really cool red!! Do any of you remember that? I thought I looked awesome. Too bad I don't have pictures of my own to look at. One of my best friends from school has some.. but I couldn't even tell you where she moved off to!
Looking back at that miniskirt..... no wonder I got pregnant my senior year. Horrible isn't it!?:o :o (so ashamed)
Young and stupid. Let's hope I teach my daughter better than that!

Where is everyone else??? Shanna? Angie? Alyra? Jana.. I know you usually post in the mornings. Cristi? How about Carree, Mel,Kat, Michelle??? Ladies come back! And share with us your e-mails so we can keep contact if something were to happen again!

Ok.. got the phone ringing. I'm sure I'll be back. James is working. I'm alone again.:(

Marti

Kayecee 01-07-2004 10:13 PM

Glad to know I wasn't the only one looking like Paula Abdul on crack! The funny thing is, I was the best friend of the Pentecostal Church of God's pastor's daughter in high school. I didn't listen to rock, wore dresses, and was a general prude. When I hit college, I wore mini's and stuff, but I always had trouble getting dates cuz everyone called me "The Virgin Mary" behind my back. And you know 90% of college guys aren't going to take you out if there's nothing in it for them. And I look back at some of the guys I did date and sheeesh.... like the country song says.... "some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers." I think we're all stupid when we're 18, Marti! :D

Uh.... BTW.... did I mention that I charge $12 per hour for tutoring? :smug:

Kayecee 01-07-2004 10:29 PM

BTW I don't think that's horrible. You've got a beautiful little girl. And don't be ashamed. My mom was married 2 times before she met my dad. I always knew that she was ashamed of that so it made me REALLY stop and think before I settled down at the ripe old age of 24. If it hadn't been for that, I probably wouldn't have called off an engagement when I was 18 to a guy in our church. Looking back now, I know that we would have made each other miserable and I probably would have left him. So maybe Jhanai will remember the lesson you learned. Does that make sense? :)

Marti 01-07-2004 10:48 PM

Yeah.. It makes sense.

And Jhanai talks with her brother off and on through out the year. ....Did I tell you she had a brother?? Five year difference.

You know what Kayecee? You need to download MSN messenger and we could chat! I chat with Shanna all the time.. In fact.. her boyfriend wonders if we know what a phone is....

Isn't that right Shanna... did you ever ask him what it was??

Does anyone go into the chat room? I've never tried it. I don't even know how it works. Is it complicated? Maybe we should figure a time we would all be able to get online and do that sometime. That would be fun.:)

FrouFrou 01-07-2004 11:59 PM

Hi ya ladies~

I am sad :( the site crashed. When I came back after being MIA for a while I didn't care for the changes but got used to them and am going to miss it.

Marti~I don't think you will have any problems with powerpoint. It is fun-or I thought so anyway. And it is pretty easy. I think some instructors get a little to technical and make it complicated. When I took the course I couldn't understand half of what the teacher was talking about, of course it was hard too with all the interruptions from some students. I just followed it in the book and did fine-aced the class. At the end we had to do a slide show about us/our family. Hey, I took a gander at your photo's and they are GREAT! Love the scenery and the view from the hills.

Kayecee~well, unlike you and Marti I was never into the mini skirts and funky clothes or hair. I had long hair for the longest time and never cared for the big do's-didn't like using hair spray. I had some t-shirts that I got in Vegas back in 1979 when I married for the first time and gave DD one of them a while back-she kept saying OMG you wore this? I told yes-I even had a picture of me in it. It's funny to look back at the clothes everyone wore in the 70's/80's. And about button up shirts and hiding your butt-I do the same! I also wear a lot of dresses-anything to hide my booty.

Jana~What did I do while the site was down? I went and bought groceries yesterday and let DD drive. Came home and did laundry and finished up all my e-cards for the month to the sad mothers. I love that I can send some and then just go back and change the date. I don't change anything on the card as far as the music, message and such unless they lost twins or triplets. I just add an 's' and the babies names. It's pretty easy once I get everything set up, it is just very time consuming-but well worth it. I get emails from some of the mothers saying thank you for remembering them & their baby/babies and making their day because no one else did. I send the cards through angeleyes2.com-has anyone visited that site? It is really nice. They have cards for ALL occasions and you can customize it with a special song, backgroud, poem and your message of course. Very nice site.

Anyway, oh-we put in an offer on a house today and the realtor thinks it looks pretty good. We had put in an offer on a different one Saturday but they turned down our 1st offer & our counter offer. They apparently listed the house at the price they want and refuse to budge even a thousand dollars. I hope they sell it as they are paying two mortgages. Anyway, this one is bank owned and has been vacant for a while and they are wanting to it sold. So we will see what happens, we are keeping our fingers :crossed: That's about all going on with me.

Hope you ladies had a swell day. See ya tomorrow sometime ladies. :)

FrouFrou 01-08-2004 03:08 PM

Hi All~

Well, today is a much warmer day. Geez, it took two days for the kitchen faucet to thaw-finally did last night. Had planned on fixing a big pot of chili yesterday but that didn't happen. Between being gone and the water not working. So, I am fixing it today-of course it is not as cold but it will be good none-the-less. Had some errands to run this morning and now I need to get my butt in gear and get a walk in, or at least do my WATP video.

Marti~I completely forgot to say how sorry I am that you fell yesterday. I hope your ankle is better today. I can't believe that no one helped you. What is wrong with people?

Well ladies, I need to go find something to do. Hope EVERYONE is having a great Thursday! :) TTFN

Jane 01-08-2004 03:46 PM

Hiya ladies,

Marti - hope your ankle is okay!! I too got preggers my senior year. The thing is, I had only been active for less than 6 weeks and got caught! Shame on me!! I was a hippy w/o the drugs in the late 60's and early 70's! Really, I protested the Vietnam war, wore fringe on lots of my clothes, tried to get to Woodstock, had the love beads, and listened to Bob Dillion. ... Lay Lady lay, lay across my big brass bed..... lol.

Kayecee - I didn't get your PM! Try again, okay? What are your ideas about the reunion? Hop over to that thread and let us know, okay? edit: Kayecee, I DID get it, but no pop up to tell me so! How frustrating!

Cristi - I got your New Year's Card today! Thanks a bunch! I sure hope you get the house you are bidding on! Tell us all aout it, okay?

Angie, Shanna, Jodiwhere are you?????

Hi to the others....

Did any of you send a magnetic calendar inside a Christmas card?? I thought it fell out of my sil's card, but she said she didn't send it! I really like it on the fridge and want to thank the sender...

Went shopping today with Mary and the 3 girls. That was an adventure! I think I know now what I want to do with the extra room... I am going to decorate it using the Flowers etc. pattern from Target. They have stools, tables, valances, rugs and other stuff. It is really cute! Mary and Katie said they will sponge paint the walls in the coordinating colors, so that will be too cute, also!

Gotta go fold some towels - bbl,
Jana

Kayecee 01-08-2004 08:43 PM

Hey Y'all!

Brrrr! Still cold here- only 35 degrees today. O.k.- o.k.- I know that Marti would probably love to see it that warm. I saw Oregon on the weather tonight and geesh y'all got hit good. Hope y'all are o.k. Has anyone else been hit hard? No snow here yet- except for a couple of spits here and there today.

Marti- :o I confess- I had done the math- I knew that you said you got pregnant your senior year and you were 33 so I wondered how Jhanai got to be 14 or so! :o I thought that you had said she was younger than Landon and he's 10. I wasn't going to pry. :) I have a hotmail account but I didn't realize you had to download a messenger account seperately. I'll do that in a minute. My messenger name will be the same as my e-mail address, right? :?: If that's true, you can add me to your friend's list. How did school go today? Any powerpoint questions yet? Tim still ain't working, so I need some grocery money.

Cristi- LOL You should get a huge frame and put one of your t-shirts and a picture of you wearing it inside and hang it on the wall. This may sound silly, but one thing that I was really sad about losing in our fire was my two Milli-Vanilli t-shirts! Anybody love Milli-Vanilli? I finally discovered how well dresses camouflage everything and have bought about 20 since spring. I usually wear the ones with jackets. Again, Cato's is a life-saver. I have a lot of nice dresses, but usually only spend $10-20 on the clearance racks. :D I hate the fact that stirrup pants have gone out of style. I loved the black ones. They really helped to slim my legs and I could usually find them for $3-5 at Cato's. The nice thing about being heavy- if you gain or lose 5-10 pounds, you can usually get away with wearing the same size.
 So even if it's on clearance near the end of the season, you know that you'll still probably be able to wear it next year. Now, if you're skinny and gain or lose the same 5-10 pounds, you have to buy a whole new wardrobe. Gee, I'm lucky. :p

Jana- Uh... who's Bob Dillon? OMG I remember my sister was into the hippy thang. She wasn't anti-drug though. I'll never forget complaining to my mom that she was sooooo nasty- she's pulling weeds up near the house and smoking it. Ewwwwww! LOL Of course, as I got older, I realized that that icky "grass" that daddy mowed was quite different than the stuff she was smoking. (Just so y'all know- She was spending the summer with dad who was divorced from her mom- my parents had a hissy-fit and after a huge fight she went back to her mom's in Kansas. They definitely will not have any drugs anywhere near them and to this day, I'm still surprised that one of them didn't have a stroke! :D ) I'm glad you got my PM. The Flowers idea sounds good. I had wondered if you would get completely sick of Blue's Clues. I know how putrid Barney was to me by the time I got Landon old enough to like something else. :dizzy: You can still use it for a playroom. A nice cedar chest or wicker baskets can hide the toys when the kids aren't there. And then you can add a big fluffy chair to read. So it can be kiddy yet an adult hide-out. Do they have toy chests that match the decor? I haven't seen the pattern, but I have a friend that put up a chair rail in her kid's playroom. Then below rail, they used different colors to stamp their hand-prints all around the room. It was soooo adorable. Another friend used chalk board paint on the door and the kids loved it.

Where is everyone else?!?!? I hope we haven't lost some of you. I know it may be a little hassle signing up again if you were newer, but hopefully, it won't happen again. Come back! See y'all later!

Marti 01-08-2004 09:37 PM

Evening ladies---

School was ok today.....no ice!:D But I woke up really sore...my hip ached! And my thighs... I want to blame falling, but I can't. I actually worked out my legs the other day and that's what I'm feeling! Gotta up my workouts! I haven't done anything more since that day!!

Weather is much warmer where we're at. Portland is much worse... it's North of us. I'm glad that we're out of the snow and ice! (for now anyway.) Yesterday the sun was actually out and it felt sooooo nice outside. Almost like Spring! And I can't wait for Spring to arrive!!

Jana-- I'm trying to picture you in all the 70's attire!! You had to be adorable!:) There were so many cute hippies along with the smelly and dirty ones. Those hippies smelled horrible!! They could peal the paint off my wall! So...were you one who threw her bra in the big bon fires to protest??!!

Cristi-- I'm glad to hear that you can use your faucets again! It was cold here, but it didn't freeze anything in our house! If I would have been living up in the hills like last year,.... I would have had problems. Plus, we would have had to bundle up in blankets on top of filling the wood stove... (we had cracks in the house to where you could see the outdoors!! OLD HOUSE) Oh..make sure you keep the pepto nearby after eating all that yummy chili!!:D

Kayecee--Jhanai may act 14 sometimes, but she's only 9. I had my son in highschool and then gave him up for adoption. It was an open adoption so we are close. In a sense that I get a phone call on Mothers Day or Valentines day from him and we talk. His mother is wonderful! couldn't have asked for a more loving and caring mother! Before I had him, I got to meet her for lunch with my adoption couselor. She was soo sweet and I knew from the start that I was going to pick her. And get this....this is cool.....(see I like to share my life stories.... I should write a book!) when we were waiting for lunch.. Judy (the adoption counselor) was asking me questions, like when was my birthday, when was the fathers birthday... and when I told her my birthdate.. Karen (the adopted mother) said "What?!" which startled me because it was the way she said it... so I repeated myself. We share the same birthday! And... get this.. it's not over...the father (who is also Jhanai's dad, my ex) shares the same birthday as her father, who has the same name!!! How weird was that?! It totally felt like we were made to meet!! It was a great thing. And over the years, we've met up together several occasions. The last time though was when Jhanai was five...so it's been awhile. But we still keep contact through letters and e-mails.

See what an interesting person I am!? (hee-hee) And I could probably tell you things that would make you laugh, cry, and even wonder "who the **bleep** are you!"

Shanna--Where you at girl? I seen your post in the photo thread....but the chit chattin is over here!!:D

Angie-- We're missing you! I hope all is well in Canada! You're not overwhelmed with your schedule again are you? Are you still recooperating from New Years Eve??? Come back!

Same goes for you Jodi!! Rejoin us!!

Ok.. time for me to get off this thing for a while. I'll probably check in later!!

Take Care girls.

Marti

P.S. Jana... I'm sorry, but I didn't send out the Calendar.... but if you can't find out who did.... then you can just say I did.:D

Kayecee 01-08-2004 09:56 PM

See- I didn't think that I had taught reading so long that I've lost my math skills! ;) I had been almost sure that Landon was older than Jhanai. I loved the similarities! That is almost too weird! :D

da fat n da furious 01-08-2004 10:34 PM

Hello Ladies

Let me tell you all that I was pretty nervous this morning when I checked and still nothing..
I checked to make sure I had Jana's phone number for tomorrow if it still wasn't up.
I have been sick with the flu,,,horrible cold and achy body but Im already on the mend.
My schedule is insane...I still have my decorations up and I should be right now putting them away but I had to check and YAY we are all back on.

Marti,,,bummer on the fall...your ok now thou right?

I told my friend Susan to join our group so hopefully she will. Shes from Portland Oregon...used to be Astoria. She lost alot of weight...over a 100 lbs...and has kept it off for a few years now.

I have this weekend off finally,,,was told that I would get one weekend off per month and since Ive been there this is my second one...hmmmm ya ok... So Im heading home,,,my cousin Tanyia is meeting me at my mom's and she will do my hair. What do you think of purple and orange? Then we are going for eye exams and then to my old Safeway friends for gourmetten..a dutch thing. We have been doing this for years. Cook on little frying pans...alot of fun.

As for hippy looks,,,I dress more like the 70's now with all the flared pants and chunky boots and beads. Oh ya since I ripped my contact lenses I have been wearing my glasses that are small like John Lennons...lol Peace everyone!

AS for the teen years,,,,Im lucky I lived throu it. I ran away at 17 and did finish high school while bartending,,(too young but they didn't know that) And was preggers at 18 too.
Have talked to Monte about our gt together and hes laughed...lol Told him what I would like to do is,,,all of us go and I make a side trip to meet with you guys and then catch up with them. Hes all for it...so we can start making plans....

Hi Ladies,

Kayecee - Even Katie has heard of Bob Dillion! He's a singer/songwriter of the 60's and 70's who was all for love and peace, lol. About the playroom, I will be geting the pastel rack and bins to match the other stuff. I am getting really excited about the end result, because I know the grandkids will love it!

Marti - the story of your son is a sweet one. You were very brave to give him up, and I'm so glad you get to be a part of his life. Hope you are feeling less sore today!

Angie - hope your friend joins us! BTW, anytime anyone wants to call and chat on the phone, I'd love it! Wow, Angie, you had an interesting teen life, too! I am so glad you will join us in Evansville! Even if it's just for a little while, it will be great to see you!

Hi to Cristi, Jodi and Shanna. Also my buddies Carree, Kat and Ruth!

I am headed to Indianapolis in a little while with my sister Katie. My Katie is named after her since she inrtoduced me to Neal. Her son and dil have bought a 19 (yes, 19) room house there and I want to see it. Thank goodness for Merry Maids, right? He is an established CPA and his wife is a vip with a credit card company. They are expecting twins at the end of February. And we are going to do a little shopping, too.

Btw, it is actually 2 hours later here than what the thread says, I think. It's going on 7 and I gotta run!

Have a good day, ladies!

Jana

Alyra 01-09-2004 09:26 AM

I'm here, I'm here. :)

SqueakMouse 01-09-2004 01:10 PM

Marti: I KNow that chat board is over here miss smarty pants, but I wanted to say something about those cute new pics you put up and I was too lazy to get over here. So there!!!! ;-P
Well if I am to have anything to say after my errands I better shut my mouth now and get going. I hope veryone is having a good day.

FrouFrou 01-09-2004 05:23 PM

Hi Ladies~

Well, I wasn't supposed to be spending money with buying a house and all but I took DD to the mall and ended up in Old Navy and saw some pants and a shirt I couldn't live without! I need to stay away from the shopping centers. I also went to the scrapbook store which is across from the mall-:nono: Oh well, it won't kill us. Plus I need to start saving for the reunion.

We got the house! I am so very excited! :cb: We have set the closing for 30 days but the guy thinks we can close in 2 or 3 weeks. I can't wait.

About the hippy conversation-it made me think of something my son said to me a few months ago. He told me I look like a hippy. I said why because the long hair? He said yeah. I said having long hair makes me a hippy? He shook his head and said yep! Silly boy. Of course I did have the long hair in the 70's & 80's also!I don't wear the flared pants, DD does. Hey, I was happy to see bell bottoms go! This is bringing back so many memories-good ones of course.

Kayecee~I liked Milli Vanilli-their music but wasn't a big enough fan that I would want them on a t-shirt. I watched MTV A LOT back in the 80's when they actually showed music videos most of the time. Mtv and VH-1. And yes dresses camouflage a lot of things! I got on this denim kick a few years ago and have quite a few denim dresses. I LOVE denim! I also wear some skirts and leggings. Leggings are the perfect thing for me. I love wearing them with big shirts and sweaters, and boots. Okay, can we say the word LOVE one more time.:dizzy:

Jana~hope you have a fun time shopping with your sister. A 19 room house-geez! That is huge! You must tell us about it. I too am getting excited about fixing our new (not brand new-but new to us) home the way we want, or should I say the way I want. I plan on adding a lot of color. DH thinks we will take a year to do this- :s: little does he know...I like to get things the way I want them before I settle in. I think that is special that Katie is named after your sister. DD is named after my great-grandmother and her dads grandmother. Now is Katie a nn for Katherine or Kathleen or is it just Katie? I meet some Katie's and Kates who are just Kate/Katie and then some who are Katherine/Kathleen. I am just curious-I have been fascinated by names for many years and am always curious.

Marti~I think that is special that you keep in touch with your son and family, and yes you were very brave to give him up for adoption. I can only imagine how hard that was for you but I am glad he is a part of your lives. Hope school is going good.

Angie~I hope your friend joins us. Sending you some good vibes & luck for the job. :goodvibes: :lucky:

Hi Shanna, Alyra and everyone else. Hope everyone is having a great day. I really need to get going. Take care ALL! :)

Marti 01-09-2004 10:57 PM

Hello ladies--

Alyra--Glad that we didn't lose you after all! How is the house hunting going? Did you get the one in the picture?

Cristi--Congratulations on getting your house!! How exciting is that?? You are going to have to post pictures and share with us.

Angie--I hope your friend joins! Tell her were just a bunch of crazy ladies who enjoy each others friendship and funny stories. Oh yeah,,,,you can even tell her that every once in awhile we actually discuss our weight.:D

Jana--19 rooms??!! Holy cow!! I think I would get lost. And at night I would probably lock myself in a room if I were all by myself! I'd be afraid in a huge house! Get photos and share!

(can you see a pattern here? I want to see pictures!)

Shanna-- How was lunch with mom? Did you get good stuff when you went shopping? What did you get me?:D

ok ladies.. this one is quick.. be back later to check in.

Marti

Kayecee 01-09-2004 11:39 PM

O.k. gotta make this quick- I gotta get in bed. We're going to the hills in the morning to get firewood and take the horse to get her bred. We're going to leave her at our place with some of the neighbor's horses and hope for the best. LOL We had company tonight. They left a little while ago. We had snow crab and shrimp then played Texas poker. Had a wonderful time.

Angie and Alyra!!!!! Sooooo glad to see y'all back! I was beginning to worry!

Well, gotta go. I'll try to post individual replies tomorrow, but we are supposed to go to BIL's to play cards. Have a wonderful weekend if I don't get to say much. BTW congrats on the house Cristi. Pictures! Pictures!

Poppin in!

Poppin in for a min.

I was suppose to take James to his truck earlier and we got ready, then he made a phone call to make sure it was there on time....it wasn't!! It was two hours later! I got back from taking him there about 15mins. ago!! (it's only a mile from home) You'd think they'd have a better schedule!!

Anyway...

I've been talking about posting pictures... and Angie---girl---you have got to post a picture of orange and purple hair!! Are you seriously doing that? I'm not sure what I'm picturing and what you're actually getting is going to match....which is why you HAVE to post a photo!:D (my imagination is running wild!)

Not that it would be foreign to me to see such a thing. You should see my ex-husband. That man can't make up his mind what he wants to do. Any color...or he shaves it all. Tattoo's, peircings....forked tongue.:dizzy: And I wonder now what it was exactly that caught my eye when we first met????? But he's an alright guy. (now!)

But...I didn't come here to talk about my ex!

Well... I believe I'm done for the night. (what a surprise eh?) but I'm actually tired. (and it's not even midnight yet) I thought about tackling some homework but decided against it. That will be my morning tackle.

Take Care ladies
Marti

BTW....I finally fixed my siganature. I had it all mixed up earlier. Lot's of miles ahead of me! And my legs are sore!!!!

FrouFrou 01-10-2004 03:41 PM

Hey ladies~

Awfully quiet around here today.

Angie~I too want to see a picture of your new hair color! You know there was a time I wanted to dye my hair pink-yes I said pink. Do you ladies know of Pink the singer? If so do you remember when her hair was pink? I LOVED it! It was such a pretty color. Of course I never did-didn't have the nerve. Oh, and yes I look so forward to decorating. I am wanting a red room. I thought DH would :faint: when I said that but he thinks it will look good. It is not actually red, but more of a brick red, kind of a deep brownish red. Brandon wanting a blue room made me think of a house we looked at that had a dark navy bedroom-it was a kids room and even though it was dark it actually looked good. In the dining room they had a dark brownish/orange color on half the wall and then a deep hunter green in the living room. It sounds like it would be kind of icky sounding but it really looked nice together. It was just enough color to make it look good-very nice.

Marti~a forked tongue?! I was watching a program once they were showing tatoos and such. Has anyone seen this guy who is trying to make himself look like a lizard? I believe-or was it a snake? Aaahhhhh, I can't remember. But I do remember if being tattooed over most of his body and changing his face and his tongue was split-on purpose! OUCH! The only thing I want pierced are my ears. Even though I think a nose ring, (a small diamond) and a belly button ring looks cool. I would never do it though-too chicken. I did get a tattoo and that hurt. WTG on your walking-I know you will get there.

Jana~how was your day with your sis? Hope you guys had a lot of fun.

Kayecee, Shanna, Alyra and everyone else hope you ladies are doing fine.

We went and signed papers for a loan on the house this morning so it is a go, well it will be Monday. That's about all I have or had going on today, other than the normal doing a load or two of laundry and cleaning a little on the house.

Hope EVERYONE has a great weekend. TTFN :)

SqueakMouse 01-10-2004 08:37 PM

Hello to all the Jaded ladies. I never know what to talk about, so I guess I am going to ramble for awhile and make comments on what people wrote. I hope everyone is doing well today.
My stomach is soooo sore today from the workout I gave it the other day. It hurts to go to the bathroom even. Which is not fun since I am drinking more water lately and I have to go more often. Oh the trauma of trying to lose weight. I am sure we all have horror stories. My boyfriend is constantly making fun of me when I am sore after working out and I moan and try to go to the bathroom. It is either my legs or stomach that hurt and sitting or getting or moving is agony. I am such a baby!!! ;-)

Marti: I thought I knew about your ex, but a forked tongue??? I just can't understand the piercing, branding or slicing of the body parts thing. As you know, I had my tongue pierced for about a year and a half, but it wasn't permanent. Of course I have six tattoos that are but I don't get the other stuff. Did he do that forked tongue thing after you guys broke up??
Cristi: I too saw that program on T.V. That showed that lizard man. He was tooo creepy. I was scared and think there is something wrong with his mental capabilities. eewww ;-P I also dyed my hair weird colors in the summer during my highschool years. Much to the horror of my mother. They were not permanent, but crayola colors freaked her out. I am now a normal, blond weaved color, but never again natural. ;-) I also look forward to hearing about your decorating. I love to do that!!! I think I should have gone to school for that instead of picking dental assisting. Oh well, in my own time will do fine. Congratulations on you house purchase. I was in the process of buying a house when we were laid off from Sony. What bad timing that was and disappointing for sure. Maybe I will get close again some day.

Well, it has now been one week since starting my new weight loss program with my biddy marti. I have gone 9 miles, only 2941 left to go ( I am thinking I may never get there) and I have 140 hours left. This is certainly a daunting task. I am also following a weight watchers plan and drinking lots of water. I guess I better buy a scale so I can know if I am losing any weight. However, even without a scale I am going to try and not give up. Wish me luck!!!!! :-)
Anywho, I am running out of things to talk about and I am starting to ramble on and on with a purpose. I better go for now and get my master dinner started.

Hello to everyone

Kayecee 01-11-2004 10:23 AM

Morning Y'all!

How are all you ladies doing this fine morning? (Now if you're thinking that I'm in a good mood- think again- I stayed up until 1:30 playing nickel poker at my BIL's- got up at 7:30- now I'm on a coffee high! :hyper: ) LOL I was able to hang on to my 5 bucks, but, alas, my DH was wiped out. (The bum even borrowed 4 bucks from me and lost that too! :o ) Now I'm telling him that I'm his sugar momma!

Angie- I'm glad that you're feeling better! Why did you have such a hard time posting after the crash? Did they have to reset your account or something? I noticed on one message that they said something about that. I knew it wasn't like you to go so long without posting. :D Tell your friend to come on over. The more the merrier. :goodvibes on the job opp. And I'm with everyone else- I gotta see the hair. Pictures. Pictures.

Jana- Hope you had a good time with sis. 19 rooms?!? Dang!!! Gotta post pics of that! BTW I was just teasing about Bob Dillon! ;)

Cristi- We need to see the house too! I'm like Marti- I wanna see pictures! I'm shocked! You didn't get a Milli-Vanilla t-shirt?!? :?: Hey babe- I was on front row of two concerts for that one. Can you still get leggings where you live?!? I can't find them anywhere around here and I love them. I may have to come shopping with you!

Shanna- Congrats on the 9 miles! You'll be at your destination before you know it! As for the scales, if your budget is tight- I told the other girls that I go to my doctor's office and the nurse lets me go to the back and weigh my own self.

Marti- Where are you girl? I saw your thread and wanna check up on you. Are you feeling better? Hope so.

Alyra- Hey girl! How's the house hunting? Did you get the one you showed us? How is everything in Australia? Let us know what's going on with you. I was really glad to see you back. I didn't know if you were going to post again.

Well, I gotta go. My mom and niece are going with us after church to eat pizza then we're all going to get Vallory's ears pierced. :cb: :cb: She is sooo excited. I can't wait either.

O.k. gotta share! As I was typing that last part.... a high pitched scream comes from the bathroom..... it was DH.... it was his turn to watch Vallory while she was taking her bath... she's at the age where bathroom noises and such are sooo funny... apparently she was pooting in the water and giggling hysterically but unfortunately she pooted too hard on the last one.....    he's having a hissy-fit..... I informed him that since it was his job to watch her and clean up all her towels and such afterwards that this falls into his territory.... HE IS NOT HAPPY!

FrouFrou 01-11-2004 01:19 PM

Too funny Kayecee!  I can just see your DH in the bathroom saying "Eeeeeew, gross!  Sorry, no I didn't get a Milli Vanilli t-shirt, but I did like their music that has to count for something right?! :D Glad to hear you had a fun time playing poker. My parents used to do that, like twice a month. Only it always ended in a fight which I hated, especially if my mother won. I always thought it was supposed to be for fun. Have fun today getting Vallory's ears pierced. Just don't let her see the gun they do it with.

Marti~hope you are feeling better today. :grouphug:

Shanna~WTG on your 9 miles! Woohoo :dancer:

Alyra, Angie, Jana and everyone else hope you ladies are fine.

Well, I guess we got too excited about the house after all. I should have known something would happen. :( We found out last night that someone else had put an offer on the house at the asking price. Which is fine but I thought because we put an offer in first and had the right to counter-which we did and at the asking price because it was a good price and they had recently dropped it. Little did we know (don't know if this is something new or a KS thing-KS has some weird/stupid laws when it comes to buying a house) that because it is a bank owned house they basically can do what they want-which they are taking both offers and the highest bidder gets it. We are not prepared to offer anymore than the listing price so unless the other people decide to drop it-which we doubt because it is a very good price-we lost it before we even had it. :( Sorry to go on about that. So you can tell how my day is going. Anywho, I am going to try and get something done today.

Take care ladies and have a wonderful Sunday! :)

Alyra 01-11-2004 01:42 PM

*yawns* 5am and I still not have gone to bed yet.
I'm not having the best days. We're waiting on a reply from the landlord of the house we want to rent - I am not highly optimistic, but whenever we are waiting for something like this, it seems to put my life on hold and I find myself very unmotiviated - like I am waiting for the next stepping stone before I will do anything!

A new week awaits, i guess. Ringing the land agent today. The landlord's had our applciation 5 days, surely that's long enough to make a decision and let us get on with our lives either way!

Cristi - sorry you didn't get the house!

Everyone else - thanks for making me feel welcome. It's a lovely group here :)

Jane 01-11-2004 03:10 PM

Hiya Ladies,

Kayecee - I am so glad to know that you really do know who Bob Dillion is! You had me worried! How did the ear piercing go? What I am really interested in is the horse - did she get dinner and a movie first???? LOL!!!

Marti - hope your Sunday is a good one!

Jodi - good luck finding a house to rent. Yes, you'd think a week would be long enough for them to figure out what they want to do!

Shanna - hope you aren't as sore today. Maybe try some warm up exercises first next time.....

Cristi - well, if you are supposed to get the house, you will. Try to look at it that way, okay? Yes, I know who Pink is, since I have a teen in the house. Btw, Katie is her real name, although my sister who she is named after has the name Kathryn.

Angie - did you do it? Purple and orange hair?? I'm dying to see a pic!

Hi to anyone I may have missed.

Well, I had a blast with my sister in Indy. Her son's house was gorgeous! I DID get lost, trying to find where I had left my coat! Then she and I shopped, and I got everything I needed to do the playroom in Target's "Flowers, etc. " pattern. Then Neal and I did the work in there yesterday. It rocks! Katie says to ask you guys if you upload your pictures to this web site. Then she will help me show you what the room looks like.

I have not done well with staying OP. As a matter of fact, I am so Off-P it is ridiculous! I truly think I need to see a therapist to see what my problem is! Dr. Phil would tell me I'm getting a payoff for staying so fat, but other than enjoying yummy food, I truly don't know what it is!

Didn't mean to talk so long. Have a good Sunday!
Jana

PS. Wasn't Milli Vanilli the 2 guys who lip-synced their way out of a grammy?!?

Marti 01-11-2004 03:37 PM

Hello everyone--

The sun is peaking through my window!! Love that sun!!:sunny: Too bad it won't stick around!!

Jana--Yes,,, Milli Vanilli are the two who lip synced their songs. But I liked the songs too... who cares who actually sang it! But I don't think I would want a t-shirt. (sorry Kayecee)
About posting pictures...as you can see... I have no idea how to upload to this site...so I use the Yahoo photo album. It's free.. and you can put a lot photos in there then just post the site. I'm looking forward to seeing the room!! How fun it must have been to decorate!

Cristi--Sorry to hear about the house...like Jana said...you'll get it if you were meant to. Who knows, if you don't get this,,, there may be a more "perfect" house than that one. And you'll wonder why you ever made an offer to the other! I hope you get one soon. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.:crossed:

Jodi--Another peson having problems with the house hunting! I'm sorry it's taking them so long. Could you possibly make a phone call and see what's holding them up? That way if you have to you can start searching for another one.

Kayecee--  Poor DH... but you did say it was his turn for bath time!! And I bet your dd was laughing hysterically about that too! That age is soo fun. You did say dd was 3 or 4 didn't you? I loved every age Jhanai has been through so far!! I just hope when she get's to her teens she doesn't turn into her father!!!( But I honestly don't think I have to worry)

Shanna-- Yep, the idiot, I mean Thom, got his tongue forked. He did that a couple years ago, so that was way after we split. And the weird thing is,,, he goes to Jhanai first before he does anything and they talk about it and if she doesn't want him to do it... he doesn't. He always goes through her first. They have a GREAT relationship. I remember when you had your tongue peirced. I had mine done for about a year too... before James and I got together. I also had my ears stretched... size of a pencil eraser. (yeah I know...what!?) More of a freak than you thought eh? Hee-hee

Well today is a good day. James and I are planning on doing some house work. Yep.. James helps. Great guy.....did I ever mention how great he is??:D I should get off the computer....I want to clean up and then get some excercises in.

Hi to Angie...still waiting to see pictures of your hair!! Oh yeah... it was funny but I thought of you yesterday... we passed a bright orange house that had a purple door!! I had to laugh and wonder what in the world were they thinking...then I thought of you!! Orange & Purple...... I just have to see it!! I bet you'll look cute... it probably matches your personality!

Take Care
Marti

BTW Kayecee---have fun with getting Vallory's ears peirced. That's going to be fun. I had Jhanai's peirced when she was 3mos. old. So cute. Then she had them peirced again when she was 4!! Her dad took her to an actual peircing shop (go figure) and she had to sign the papers herself. So she did. And boy was she proud.

da fat n da furious 01-11-2004 08:23 PM

Well I am so glad yesterday has passed. I have had 2 saturadays off since I started working in Oct. And what happens? We have anear death exerience. If any of you watched the news about Washington state you would know of their horrible ice storm...well we were hit with it and we were not perpared. We left for Sylvan and was like 1/2 hr away on a back road when we saw a car upside down. Made sure no one was inside and hurt and kept going,,,got maybe a 100 yards and going arounda a huge bend when we started sliding into oncoming traffic... missed a car by maybe 3 inches. And then landed in the ditch. and within 30 seconds a big tanker flew by...yay I was freaking. A wonderful guy stopped and had to literally pull us throu a farmers field onto a side road. Meanwhile my cousin was struggling to try and just get out of her house...she called to apolgize for not coming,,,like I would want her to endanger herself. So I didn't get my hair done,,,didn't get my eye dr appointment and didn't visit with my old safeway friends...came home once the weather warmed up.
Plus I kinda a did a relapse thing and felt horrible,,,and have lost my voice completely. (the boys love that...grrr) House is half clean right now,,,decorations are done,,,I have got 2 boxes of normal decorations downstairs and to be honest I don't want to bring them up. I have got so much little trinkets its scary. I could open my own store with all my stuff.
Well I should make some neocitron and head for bed.
night all
Angie
ps Cristi I sure hope things do go your way....

FrouFrou 01-12-2004 03:57 PM

Happy Monday Ladies~

Geez, Angie, I am so glad to hear you guys are alright. That would scare the daylights out of me. I definitely believe in angels and you guys had one with you. I hate driving on icy roads because no matter what they teach you I think on ice all those little rules/guidelines whatever go out the window when you start sliding. Scary stuff and I ma glad you guys are fine. I hope you get better soon and get your voice back.

Marti~James is definitely a keeper ;) My dh is good also if I ask him to help out. But I never do because he works hard enough and I feel guilty asking him to do anything around the house. However, I do have pictures of him vacuumimg and cleaning...he's a sweetie.

Kayecee~how did yesterday go with Vallory's ear piercing? I had my dd's ears pierced when she was 4 months old because I figured she would do it someday anyway so why not do it when it would be easier to care for her ears, and she couldn't really mess with them, so I did. I know some people feel different about letting their DD have their ears pierced. My brother wouldn't let his girls do it till they were 16.

Jana~your room sounds so pretty. I love the color pink and flowers, lots of flowers. As far as uploading the pictures to this site I don't either. But then I use a scanner and then I put them on yahoo.com like Marti. You can have photo albums and the best part is it is free. I am trying to figure out this new set-up. I had the old one figured out and then we bought a new computer that has the new Windows (Office) XP and it is a little different from what we had but I am getting the hang of it. I am working on how to resize the pictures. So hopefully soon I will get some new photo's up and put the link back up to my album.

About the house-thank you ladies. Also, that is the attitude I am taking Jana, if it was meant to be then we will get it. I also believe there is a reason for everything so whatever happens happens.

Okay, I need to run to the store, DD has been waiting for a few minutes. Hi to everyone else. Hope you all are having a fun Monday! TTFN :)

Kayecee 01-12-2004 09:26 PM

Just a quick post. Today has been mad. First of all, are we back to the new forum again? Is that what caused the crash in the first place? Or was it just a fluke that they both occured around the same time?

Vallory got her ears pierced! YAY! She was such a brave girl. No tears- although I thought for a few minutes that there was going to be a river. You could tell that it hurt a lot more than she expected. But she's so good. She's one of those who doesn't even cry when she gets a shot. (Thank god!) And she looks soooooo adorable.

I have to get off here. I think I need at least 8 more hours in my day! :( But I do want to say that I am so glad that you and your family are o.k. Angie! You must have been terrified. I'm glad that you had a good samaritan. Gotta share this one real quick- when I traveled with a gospel group, we had a flat one night. Miles from home, wee hours of the morning with nothing open, little money, and no spare. We were sitting in this parking lot wondering what to do when this black cop turns his car around and checks on us. He says his mother's car is sitting in his garage and she died the year before, so he goes and gets a tire off of it and helps the men put it on our vehicle. The group leader made sure he looked at the officer's name and the town's name that was posted on his police cruiser because as soon as he got to the bank the next day, he was going to send him money to pay for the tire. The cop even follows us out of his jurisdiction to make sure the tire was o.k. The next day, Jeff (the group leader) gets the money and calls that town's police station. He explains the situation to them and says that he wants to know if he can mail the money to the precinct. Do you want to know what the officer's reply was............. Not only did they not have a cop by that name, there wasn't one black officer on their force!!!!! (insert Twilight Zone theme here) I still think about that night at least once a month. So if you wonder whether or not I believe in angels..... Now my short post has turned into a long one. Night girls.
