Bagz ifz you're so board, why dun't you defend me in my pettttiness about the popcorn instead of swearing and making me feel like pinning angel pins to my tee shirt for protection against all the bad forces that are attracted to such words.

Wabboid, I think he may be burned out on fundrasiers but I don't care because we're probably the ONLY customes who have been faithful to him and him only for this length of time and a little payback is very appropriate I think. Besides he has a 2 year old baby girl who will be having fund raisers of her own. The point is to make the kid feel good not to buy the stupid product. If he didn't want anything, he coulda made a donation.

I am feleing depresxed and unahhappy. both. Don't gain weight, Bagzzzz. Lose more!!! DO IT OR ELSE!!!! snarl.

Wabby 10-29-2003 04:39 PM

OK, you're right, Peaches. The guy's a heel and you can be p*ssed if you want to. I would have bought the popcorn. I have major guilt pangs if I don't buy the girl scout cookies from the children in front of my grocery store, and I don't even know these kids. Don't feel depressed and unhappy. It will make me feel depressed and unhappy and I don't need any help. And if Bagzie gains back her other 8 pounds I will feel really depressed and unhappy, so don't do it, Baggggggzzzzzeeeeeee!!!!!!Let's start up a new weight loss challenge - how about 10 pounds off by the time Wabby has to go see her boobie Dr. for her final post op visit? That would be 10 pounds by December 9th. Or we could do the 10 pounds by winter solstice like the lovely maids at the group next door.I did my upper body weights and ab exercises this morning, so there. I'm feeling depressed enough that I can't even seem to motivate myself enough to go get some lunch today. You know it's bad when I won't even bother eating. And yes, those Krispy Kremes are still sitting in their box. :?: The high point of my life is that Nordstrom has their free gift with purchase at the Clinique counter starting today, and miraculously, I've run out of foundation makeup just this morning. What are the odds of that happening?

Bagzz 10-29-2003 05:14 PM

my free gift with purchase is another selection of swear words---@##$ *#@!! and of course how could i forget @#$$% .NOW I AM READY TO DEFUND PEACHISS-----THAT HAIRDRESSER IS AN IDIOT IF HE THINKS HE HAS TO WANT OR NEED ANYTHING ON ONE OF THOSE FUNDRAISER SHEETS-----THE NEXT DOOR BRATS CAME WITH SCHOOL CHOCOLATE BARS---I SAID I DON'T WANT ONE BUT I WILL BUY ONE FOR YOU TO EAT YOURSELF----THAT IS ONLY BECAUSE IT WAS CRAPPY CHOCOLATE OTHERWISE I WANT IT MESELF-----AND NOW JUST TO SABATOGE MYSELF AND ALL MY EFFORTS AND ALL YOUR SUPPORT---------- I WILL DIVE INTO THE HALLOWE'EN CHOCOLATE BAR BARREL----SEE YOU WHEN I COME UP FOR AIR. @#$###!!!!!&&!!!!!

It's a sign. :lucky:

I went grocery shopping tonight, than had to wait for dd to get done with dance class (I swear her teacher keeps her later and later every week), while my frozen stuff slowly thawed. By the time I got home, I was in one crappy mood, especially as I had to maneuver around all the junk to get the groceries inside, move stuff off the freezer to put food in it (the vast quantities of green tomatoes are ripening on top of the freezer), and I couldn't use half the kitchen counters because they are covered with towels and containers to catch the drips that are now practically pouring through the ceiling -- since it is apparently going to rain for the rest of forever, I guess I might as well get used to it). Then I couldn't fit everything in the refrigerator, so I decided to use some things up: I'm having a 5-year-old wine cooler at the moment. Nice and aged... And a bag of Frito twists.

Okay, the Fritos didn't come from the fridge. You caught me. :o

I did my bit for the fundraising turkey supper tomorrow -- I cut sheet cakes for an hour or so this afternoon. And I didn't even eat one. I had a couple of fingertipsful of frosting, that's all. I swear.

I don't know, Peachers, the barber guy is pretty clueless about customer relations, I'll grant you that. But he might just be one of those people who don't spend a dime on anything. I would think people who own their own businesses would often be like that. It's a lot different from getting a paycheck every week -- business might be good this week and nonexistent the next. Of course I speak from the perspective of a gasping community, where everyone is spooked about where the next paycheck is coming from. Tonight I heard someone say that the local stores haven't started putting up Christmas merchandise yet (of course the worst offender for early Christmas stuff was Ames and they went bankrupt some time ago). That's kind of strange. Also at the store I was cruising the candy aisle for Halloween candy and I was shocked to see that the shelves were full!! Usually if you wait till only a day or 2 before Halloween, you've got little to choose from.

Eh bien

The barber guy told me he drove to Ft Walton Beach to buy a pink witch costume for his 18 month old to wear Friday night as she walks up and down the street (or is carried). His stepson got a brand new car when he turned 16. Before he was 17, he didn't like the car so they got him a different brand new car.

Bagzz 10-30-2003 12:15 PM

he is unalterably a total arse 0

Cowpernia 10-30-2003 12:28 PM

we chan change the subject now. I just ate a grilled chesse with 3 slices of cheese and butter. how many points is that?

This is a sure sign of how boring we are - we don't have another subject to change to.

Cowpernia 10-30-2003 03:12 PM

we could discuss my spelling

Wabby 10-30-2003 03:46 PM

We could talk about my Mandarin Chicken salad I got from Wendy's today. The lettuce was not fresh, it was wet, and a couple pieces of the chicken had that nasty grissley stuff on it. I still ate every last bit of it. Let's discuss my spelling of grissley.

So far today I have -
Made bed, picked up bedroom.
Wiped down my bathroom counters.
Loaded morning dishes and wiped kitchen counters.
Put doggies in kennel.
Gone to the post office, mailed a package and bought stamps.
Mailed my bills off.
Stopped by the Goodwill and dropped off a couple bags of clothes.
Picked up a prescription.
Dropped off my library books.
Vacuumed the office.
Wiped down front counter.
Entered accts. payable in computer.
Filed all my accts. payables.
Ate a soggy salad.

I'm procrastinating on doing a couple qtrly tax reports. I still have until tomorrow to get them done. Guess when I'll do them.

I think I deserve to read my book for awhile. I just finished Good in Bed and Slammerkin. Both really good books. Both an easy read. I'm working on Empire Falls, which is about a mill town in Maine - Kiwi have you read this one?- and The Interpreter of Maladies which is a Pulitzer prize winning book of short stories. I've been trying to read Atlas Shrugged which I understand is supposed to be a great literary work, but I just can't get into it.

Anyone read any good books lately?

Cowpernia 10-30-2003 04:01 PM

I don't like Atlas Shrugged but am now reading The Wonder Book of Air by Cynthia Shearer and love it a lot

Uou have done a lot, Wabbo. I have eaten popcorn and sanwich and lots of Earl Gray tea. Had the builder stop over to get the ceiling fan going. It involved switches, chains and a remote and we didn't find the right combo, DS and I. Then I watched Casablanca. And now I am a puddle.

The builder told me not to waste my $ on Rid-X as the ceptic tank already has bacteria in it. He said to get it drained every 3-5 years unless I use the garbage disposal a lot then do it every year. He has seen 18 inches of grease in tanks where people said they don't put grease down the drain. What fun is this? Why have this stuff if you can't use it?

Cherry Cow 10-30-2003 09:10 PM

Umm... hi. I hope I don't kill this thread too.

Wabby, I'll join your challenge. That will give me three pounds left to go to reach my new year goal.

Peachy, at this point, there is NOTHING entertaining about marching band!! It is sucking away our will to live! Just kidding- sorta.

Hi Bagzie, Kiwi, Sugar & all.

Oh, I get it, the guy's a complete moron. Why didn't you say so?

Leave it to Ft. W. Bch to have pink witches! How progressive!

Wabby, you are a good girl. (Did you really do all those things? Are you on speed or something?)

I haven't read any of those, except Atlas Shrugged. For that one, you have to have about a month free of other activities, plus a clear mind. Oy. I read it back when i had a mind.

I read schlock now. Good schlock. Right now it's Maeve Binchy. Nice and fluffy. Also I'm reading a collection of short stories by a Maine author. It's called Officer Friendly. I got it because of the name. We have an Officer Malcolm that should be called Officer Friendly.

I made an excellent crockpot beef stew today. I didn't use a recipe. Maybe that's where I've been going wrong lately -- bothering with recipes. I just threw in beef and onions, sprinkled them with flour, salt and pepper, tossed them to coat the pieces, and started the crockpot. Then I threw in 2 huge carrots, 2 huge potatoes, what was left of a bunch of celery, a little can of V-8 mixed with a small spoonful of beef bouillon paste and some hot water. Then I yanked an old bay leaf off the decoration hanging over my sink (the dust makes it all very special), tossed that in, plopped the cover on and drove to guitar lessons. 4 hours later, we had delicious stew. DH raved.

a purple puddle?

Hi Cherry! Tonight is the last regular high school football game here. Aren't you done with that marching soon? DD plays in the pep band -- they don't have to march, thank goodness. They also don't have to go to away games. It's all a little too easy. Not that I'm complaining. It's mighty cold this time of year when they do play -- playoffs are coming right up and our school's in them, so she'll be freezing her little fingers off.

DD is going to school in a white halter top, slinky tight knit pink skirt, strappy high heeled sandals, pearls and my great-aunt's old beaver coat. What do we think this costume is supposed to be? I'll take votes all day.

Here's something I didn't know about until recently. www.film.com is an online film festival. A local boy (I don't know him) has a film there "Fall of a Saga" but I can't get it to play. It might be a fun site if it works for you.

Wabby 10-31-2003 11:46 AM

I did do those things, Kiwi. Today was a more normal day -

So far -

Drank 1 1/2 cups coffee
Did my upper body weights and ab exercises
Sorta made my bed, wiped off bathroom counter
Put dishes in dishwasher
Put doggies in kennel
Got to work 10 minutes early so DH could make 8:30 appt.
Checked in with youse guys

Hmmmm. A good excuse to look like a hottie on a school day? Where's the pictures?

Cherry are we going for Dec. 9 or winter solstice? Bagzie you need to get back here and start counting points too. And the rest of you too.

Kiwi, your stew sounds so yummy, I may just have to make something like that this weekend. Only problem is, my crockpot's crock broke. It took me about 6 months to finally throw it out. The replacement crock would cost more than buying a whole new one. I guess I've given up on finishing Atlas Shrugged. The library website won't let me renew it. Apparently they think that I should have finished it by now - I checked it out in June!! Somebody needs to come here and post something amusing - otherwise you're stuck reading my drivel. The weather has turned wintry - poor little trick or treaters.

Kiwonk 10-31-2003 03:18 PM

She is also carrying a gold lamé evening purse with chain handle, and wearing bright red lipstick. Peaches is getting warm.

Went to a friend's mother's funeral today -- down in the bigcity. Had excellent lunch with DH and just got back a little while ago.
Then tonight we are taking 3 girls to a Halloween party at the coffeehouse where DD sometimes plays the guitar. That's another hour drive each way.
Guess I'll make DD do some of that driving. If she can drive in high-heeled sandals.
There was absolutely nothing whatsoever for teens to do tonight in our town, so I offered to drag everybody to this 'do. Hope it's worth it.

I may wear a plush kangaroo. Do you think this would be a good look for me?

Picture tooken this morning. Ain't been developed. Someday we will get us one a dem new-fangled gigidle camrys and put em peektures right up onna web.

P.S. Incredibly, we are having really nice weather for Halloween. This is the first time ever that I remember a Halloween that wasn't either pouring rain or freezing cold. And I'm too old to trick or treat.

Just flew in from Halifax...

...and boy, are my arms tired!

1 1/2 hour delay in Toronto, missed my plane from Frankfurt to Hannover, had to take one two hours later. Lost dh's cell phone number and had to phone friends to get him to phone him. Credit card didn't work in phone. Had some change on me luckily. Will post more when not so crabby.

Didja get the postcards from P.E.I? Muffie, I couldn't send you one 'cause I wasn't sure if you were still at the same address.

couldn't phone Kiwi because of course I left the number at home- duh!

Cowpernia 11-01-2003 09:26 AM

I am soOOooOO happy to hear from sugarrrrrrr but I can't understand where she is. I think she may be in Florida. No postcards year, swwetiepie. You go rest then come back and tell us about Halloween.

I had zero trickortreaters which means I have a bowl of Tootsie Rolls to deal with.

Don't worry, I would probably have been online anyway  Oh well, sounds like you had a heck of a time getting back, but I hope you had fun in the Merrytimes!! Looking forward to my postcard -- I love PEI, went there once, but I want to go back.

I have a headache -- not surprising, considering the eventful Friday we had. Friend's ("Fingers", for Peaches' info) mother's funeral, gathering giggly girls and pizza, driving some more to go to this coffeehouse party, drinking wayyyyyyy too much coffee, listening to live music, including my own DD and her friends. They got good response from the crowd (which varied from under 10 to about 20 people), but the highlight for me was a song she did by herself that I hadn't heard before -- it was beautiful and she got hearty applause from everybody. They only had one voice mike, so when she sang with her friend, she either wasn't miked or had to lean in to sing into it (of course this is a small place, no stage, a mike isn't absolutely necessary). For this solo, a guy who was an old hand at this set the mike right up to her and made her get closer until she was really using it right. And man, was it beautiful!

Not that I'm bragging or anything....

On our way home with 3 tired girls in the back seat, DH decided to shake things up a bit and drove us to a lonely cemetery that he had found while doing genealogy research. It's in the woods off a long bumpy dirt road, and it only seems to have 2 graves in it, one of them the headstone was knocked over and is gone and the other one: Harriot Crosby. This place is quite large, surrounded by a beautiful 4-foot high stone wall, and a lovely squeaky gate with the name Oliver Crosby in cut-out letters in the iron. We aren't sure if they were related to DH's family or not, but it's a great place to go at midnight on Halloween

I bought halloween candy too. We have never had trick or treaters. I just buy it to eat. I am bbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaddddddd.

Our pumpkin is very silly. It's huge and we drew vertical lines on it, a polka-dotted bowtie and buttons. It's basically a headless pumpkin. Placed the enormous thing on the swingbench beside the front door, with old sneakers balanced on the rung under the seat. Looks ridiculous. I thought about cutting out a circle at the top and letting guts spill out, but that sounded a bit gruesome. I'm so twisted.

Anyway, welcome back, Sugar!

Hope everyone had a ghoulish Halloween!

Kiwi

Cherry Cow 11-01-2003 06:50 PM

I got my postcard today! Sugar P, sounds like you had quite an adventure! Wow!

The other day, when I was cleaning, I found the batch of postcards I bought to send to y'all this SUMMER! I'm so embarrassed, especially since I can't remember where I put them!

Wabby-- Hmmm... I'm going for 13 pounds off by Dec 31, so for me, Dec 9 is probably a better goal (guess I should put away this peanut butter cup!)

Kiwi-- we've had either football games, competitions, or band practices every weekend since July. It's getting very old. C had to miss tonight's game for another thing he had been planning since late spring and the teacher got upset (the only performance C has missed or will miss.) Meanwhile, the teacher ended jazz practice early (with no notice) so he could carve pumpkins with his kids. Aww cute, except we'd like to be able to do stuff with our kids too!!

Sounds like you had a cool Halloween!

We only got about ten Trick-or-Treaters, so we have a bowlful of candy to deal with... along with the candy N scored while he was out there. We had fun Trick-or-Treating.

N isn't feeling well tonight, so we have to skip a Halloween/wedding party we were invited to. Oh well, guess I'll work on that novel I'm trying to write in 30 days.

Hi Lushanie, Peachpernia, and Muffie!

Don't feel bad about the postcards -- I do that all the time. When people actually receive something from me, they are just that much more amazed....

A Halloween/wedding party -- that sounds very strange. Is everyone supposed to come in costume? Suppose the bride and groom marry the wrong people by mistake?

DD and I stayed up watching movies last night. I borrowed Dark Passage from the library -- a murder mystery with Bogart and Bacall. And then we watched The Three Faces of Eve on TV. She hardly ever watches movies with me, so it was rather nice. Joanne Woodward was amazing.

I have a hormone migraine. I only have one magic migraine pill left and I'm saving it for an emergency. So I'm trying to feel better with Excedrin Migraine. Not working very well. Everything bothers me. DH and DD were watching some tapes of The Gilmore Girls yesterday (DD has a cold, so she's uncharacteristically all about TV this weekend) and that woman's voice was so annoying to me, I had to put earplugs in while I was working in the next room! And right now, the house smells because someone heated up a pizza in the oven and that's bothering me (and not in a good way, it smells burnt).

I'm so fragile. :joker:

And so endless fascinating. Because, after all, non-stop rambling about nothing is what everyone comes here for, right?

Kiwi

Cherry Cow 11-02-2003 02:40 PM

N got better, so we did get to go to the party. The bride and groom got married on October 20th in New Orleans and then came back to throw the party. It was cute. The bride wore her dress and an orange wig and the groom wore an orange suit and top hat. I'll have to ask Monday if that was what he wore for the wedding! :-)

It was fun. We danced and danced and I counted it as my exercise for yesterday!

Also, today, I believe I hit a new low weight- 171. It's been a couple of years since I was that low!

Kiwi, watching movies with DD sounded nice. I'm sorry about your migraine.

I'd better go... I'm trying to get about 3K words today and I'm meeting a bunch of Internet strangers up the street. (I wish I could meet you guys! You know the only Cybermom I've even talked to on the phone was Beth, yet now I'm meeting people I've "known" for less than a month! Of course, they live here and y'all don't.) (You can follow the novel-writing fun on my blog.)

Kiwi

I guess then you could call it a blessing in disguise?:o

My words of wisdom for today:
  • NEVER go on a road trip to Prince Edward Island with your parents
  • people in the Maritimes sometimes talk like pirates (which is a good thing, IMHO)
  • don't fly Air Canada if you can help it - they go out of their way to make you cranky
  • postcards mailed on Monday from Nova Scotia get there faster than those mailed on Saturday from PEI. Go figure.
  • seen one airport, seen 'em all

HEY! SHE SURE KNEW A LOT ABOUT YOU TWO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad she didn't know squat about me.

I liked Karen in MN. She told us about the one nice place -- on top of her dresser with a music box -- that inspired her to clean up the rest of her house.

Dusty, on the other hand, I can't stand!!!!!!!! What's wrong with someone who takes notes on people?

I'm making a lovely beef roast with garlicky potatoes for dinner. Doesn't that sound nummy?

Cold weather makes me cook.

Stick that on your hard drive... ;)

Kiwi

Lush 11-02-2003 06:37 PM

Wasn't Karen in Minn the one who described her period disasters in detail? I don't like people like that or period sponge people...or people who live in Florida who take notes on people.

Wabby 11-03-2003 12:06 PM

Must have been before my time. Either that or there was nothing interesting about me to make notes on.

Welcome home, Sugar P!!!! Thank you for the lovely postcard from PEI! I was thinking I'd send you all my postcards from last summer for Christmas cards. Were the babies happy for you to get home? Was the big baby happy for you to get home?

Lush, come back here and tell us what's going on with you.

My friend who is 39 just found out she's expecting baby #2! Baby # 1 will be 18 months old when the new arrival gets here. Can you imagine??? I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

Cherry, have you used any of the Firm tapes? Are they worth the $$$$'s? I'm thinking of buying their latest infomercial offering. It has 3 tapes, a weight stick thingie and their "fanny lifter" (do you really think there's any hope?) for 3 eeeeezy monthly payments of 29.95. What do you think? Sounds like alot of money, but I've given up the idea that I might actually join a gym. Once I'm home after work, I know better than to think I'd go out into the dark, cold night to work out.

We had exactly zero trick or treaters. Kiwi, did you see any ghosts in that cemetery? You can brag all you want about DD. You deserve to.

I agree about the bragging on your DD Kiwi----I wish I could hear her at the coffeehouse----She and my dd could do a duet----we had a coffeehouse last week at the highschool ---i LOVE them!!!-----Wabby---thanks for the peptalk last week-----after a DISATEROUS Hallowe'en week I have calmed down, boxed up the junk to take to my sister the music teacher to use as bribes and am ready to contritely count points----I have FIRM tapes===== I think they are good if you actually do them but as Cherry and LUsh and cowP will attest---the ladies are serious TARTS!!!!!!! skanky tarts.

Wabby 11-03-2003 06:14 PM

OK, skanky or not, I ordered a couple Firm tapes. The ones that sounded the least likely to make me sweat. Firm Basics:Fat Burner and another one the 1-800 lady talked me into. Just the tapes, no "fanny lifter", because I'm realistic and I think it's probably fallen and ain't gonna get up. I bought some of those newfangled panties, not the thong thingies, the kind that look like lacy shorts. The DH just loves them, but I'm not too crazy about the back view. That was probably more info than you'd care to know.

Everybody here at work is sick, sick, sick. Except me, and I'm trying not to breathe the air that these other sickly ppl are.

Cherry Cow 11-03-2003 07:36 PM

Wabby, I'm glad you didn't get the fanny lifter, since I've heard they're pretty wobbly. I have a high step that would work for those tapes. I actually stopped buying Firm tapes after I got one too many compilation tape from them, but the workouts are good... if you do them!

Personally, I prefer Cathe!

I saw that informercial -- that looked pretty good, didn't it? I'd buy it, but I already invested $70 or something in BeachBody tapes. Maybe after I get a beachbody, I'll get firm :dizzy:

Gee, I didn't see any ghosts. One of the girls wouldn't get out of the car, and she wasn't even letting us scare her. All the screaming from the graveyard, and the popping up from the other side of the car had not the slightest effect.

Wow! You are a saint! Can I have your autograph?

Wabbit, do you know if there are any dog parks in your neck of the woods? My friend is looking for somewhere to let her sweet doggie run free after being cooped up in the car for a week, and now in an apartment until they move into their house.

I spent the day at the car dealer today waiting for my car to not be finished getting worked on  -- Honestly, I have to come back again next week so they can look for more things that aren't wrong with it. I decided to take a walk (on a busy highway) and went to the Humane Society. Looked at all the doggies and kitties. Picked out 2 dogs to bring home. Didn't bring them home, of course, just picked them out. Picked out several lovely kitties. Didn't bring them home either. That was fun. ? Better than sitting in the waiting room at the car dealer watching Fox News. Why do people watch that? I actually had to leave the room when that horrible judge from Alabama came on to rant and rave about his precious 10 commandments rock. What a putz.

haha That was fun. I called a Southern fundie zealot a Yiddish dirty word. But really, even the Supreme Court wouldn't listen to this guy, but they had 'im on Fox News.

Kiwi, I think Portland Parks have certain off leash doggie hours, but that's probably too far away from where your friend is living, if she's in Tigard. She should call the local parks department and ask. Out where I live there are all kinds of places, but I live in the toolies. Does your friend like the area so far, or is she horribly homesick for Maine?

So what I'm getting from all you exercising cows is that you actually have to do the exercises for the tapes to work. Damn. And who is Cathe?

Kiwi, that girl sounds like a party pooper. What teenager doesn't love to be totally freaked out on Halloween? You have amazing self control to just walk away from all those big eyed dogs at the pound.

Kiwonk 11-04-2003 03:30 PM

Thanks, Wabbit, I'll pass that on. She says she's looking for stuff to do, trying to get to know the area. And she has airplane tickets to fly home in December for a few days!

I thought just owning these :strong: tapes made you skinny. Thinking about them makes me tired, so it only stands to reason...

I've got to go vote. We have a very interesting bunch of things on the ballot this year -- casinos and such.
