  • Happy Easter
  • Good morning ladies,

Happy Day after Easter. Hope you all had a good day. We went to a restaurant for Easter Dinner. All of my favorites so really enjoyed the meal - especially not having to cook or clean up. We had a big lunch so I was not hungry for dinner. I did come home and make a jello salad that had cherry and raspberry jello, a can of cherry pie filling, half a large can of crushed pineapple and chopped pecans. After it sets you top it with whipped topping or a combination of sour cream and cream cheese for a more tart flavor. I think I preferred the tart sour cream base but DH does not like that so I went with the regular stuff. It was really good. My sister and I were reminiscing about how every holiday meal included some sort of jello dish. I remember because it was my job to make the homemade bread and the jello dish. I did go to the store on Saturday and picked up my free ham (using bonus points accumulated at the store). Picked up the fixing for potato salad, deviled eggs and stocked up on fresh veggies and fruits so we will have a ham dinner this week a few days. My seafood box from Alaska is coming on Thursday with Pacific cod and crab for me. I'm excited about that.

We are doing well with vaccinations up here so people were a bit happier to gather again. We had a beautiful warm, spring day to enjoy. I sat outside on the deck for about an hour enjoying the sunshine and looking at my bare yard. They really mowed down the trees and it's a real mess. They tore up the grass with the heavy equipment and haven't finished the stump grinding. DH is not going to pay them until they finish the job - he gave them a deposit but they have a tendency to start several jobs and finish months later if not the next season. We have much needed rain coming in this evening and it's going to rain the rest of the week until Sunday so my yard will be a mud pit. DH was going to go out to photograph birds but decided to stay home today and do some outside yard work while he can. I have plenty of things to do inside myself.

After much needless running around my Mom is getting her 2nd vaccine in about an hour. She had a second appointment at the pharmacy in her neighborhood all along - she just forgot to pay attention. They called to remind her an hour after she got picked up by my sister to spend the holiday at her house. So this morning Sis is driving her back to get her shot and then to my Mom's protest is taking her back to her house to keep her overnight in case Mom has any side effects. My BIL was dealing with his dad in the hospital so things were very crazy at my sister's house. We had a good chat in spite of things.

Nothing special going on in my life. I am still working once a week at the vaccine clinic. We will really ramp up next week as they open the vaccine to anyone age 16 and older. They anticipate 4 times the amount of people we have been doing so far - close to 1,000 people. That's going to make us EXTEMELY busy. Hope to have this all wrapped up before the end of May.

I am rolling around ideas for renovating the master bath. I want to pull the too small jet tub out and replace it with a walk in shower. I would like it tiled in but am going back and forth about the expense of tile vs the less desireable plastic type of shower surround. Tile also needs to be cleaned regularly and I can't get on my knees to scrub grout any more. I want a shower enclosure with a door instead of sliding doors which are hard to clean. We were looking at them at the home improvement store and while I want a frameless one that is more open looking, when I entered the shower and closed the door I got this punch of claustrophobia. My fear is getting stuck in something I can't get out of. I thought to myself, oh no, don't go there and you are going to have to deal with this. There is no way the door can lock so you can't get stuck. I did however once very long ago get stuck in my shower in my house in Illinois. It had very heavy sliding doors and the door got off track somehow. I tried to lift the door and it was so heavy it just tilted and got stuck even harder. Here I am home alone, wet, naked and getting cold stuck in the shower. I believe at the time DH was away on a business trip so I really started to panic. It took me a while but I was able to wedge it over enough to squeeze my way out of it. And when DH got back home I made him replace those stupid doors. Anyway to fix the bathroom the way I want to - replace the shower, remove the impractical built in utility closet and replace with a pantry storage cabinet style, replace the vanity and counter top and tile will probably come out to more than I think DH was thinking. We won't know the estimate until they come out next week and measure. THen we pick materials so they can give us a price. We also want to redo the laundry room and the kitchen too as well as replace the flooring in the main living area. At this point "wanna" and "will" are still under discussion.

Nothing else really new and exciting to report.

I'm sorry you are going into lockdown again Shad. It's good they are staying on top of it. It remains to be seen what will happen here once they get everyone who wants to be vaccinated taken care of and then we have to deal with the elephant in the room - the stubborn who refuse under any circumstance to step up and do their part but would rather act as willing hosts to perpetuate the variants.

I have noticed the price of toilet paper while plentiful has skyrocketed. I told DH I could get a nice beef roast for less money and a 6 pack of the big rolls

And so, with that I will post this and get on with the day. Come back in and post ladies. Getting too quiet here.
  • Afternoon all.

Another lovely day today. Yesterday was mild, but the day couldn’t make up its mind if it wanted to rain or be sunny. Today is sunny so far. I have daffodils blooming. On Easter only a few had bloomed, so I didn’t cut a bunch to put in a vase. Now I will. My strange mishmash garden bed out back that I have a view of from the home office window shows a couple daffodils, which I've never seen come up there in the past. Always a surprise, that spot. But I just have to realize that this house is 65 years old and so who knows what the previous owners had planted there. This mishmash bed, when we bought the house 20 years ago, was a huge clump of trees and shrubs and when we removed all of it, we even found a tall pole – I can’t remember now if it was a flag pole or one for a ham radio operator. Either way, we removed that too. And once the sunlight was on that spot, there came all the different perennials popping up over the years – peonies, daylilies, iris, phlox…and now daffodils.

I had Good Friday off work. I went to my mother’s (vacated independent living) apartment Friday morning to clear away more stuff. I went through a bunch of her sewing notions and yard goods. I took home too much stuff for myself, including my mother’s sewing machine. I currently use mom’s previous one – it was a hand-me-down when she bought her new one. The new one’s not new anymore. And it looks to be very similar in functionality to the old one actually, but I’ll play with it and see if I want to keep it. I didn't come across the manual for it, so I downloaded it. It's 139 pages long because it has three languages in one manual! Unfortunately they are all interspersed throughout. Why??!! I'll have to pick and choose the English language pages I want to print. Sigh.

I took a bag of old clothes home from mom's that I’ll put out for textile recycling this week. We have quite a bit more to go through, but at least a lot of it’s already been sorted for donation, and once we get that dropped off, it’ll at least look better. Right now it looks like a tornado hit.

I visited mom Saturday. First time visiting her in her memory care room. It’s not large, but it has two nice large windows that let in a lot of light and overlook some greenery outdoors. The room itself looks a bit bare, so maybe we need to cull some more knickknack-y stuff from her old apartment to cozy it up. We already selected some of mom’s framed artwork to hang in her room. This is the second visit where mom seems rather tired. The staff tells me she’s still wandering at night. At least she’s in the right place - an alarm will sound when she tries to leave the memory care area.

For Easter Sunday, we had bf’s mother over for dinner. J grilled steak and veggies. We had a family-sized tray of frozen au gratin potatoes I’d purchased on clearance after Christmas and it was sitting in the freezer, so we made that as another side and it was tasty. The day before I’d bought some mini bundt cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes for dessert. We love the lemon cake! Bf asked me to also buy a carrot one. I tasted a crumble when I was slicing it and it tasted more like a spice cake to me. Anyway, very easy, tasty meal and I enjoyed it.

    ==

Happy – I’m glad you enjoyed your Easter meal in the restaurant, and enjoyed not having to do all the cooking and cleanup! == Re the jello dish – yes, we’d always had one at the holidays. Nothing elaborate - it was typically lime jello with cool whip and pineapple mixed in. == I hope you enjoy the crab! Now I’m jonesing for a meal at a good seafood restaurant. Maybe bf and I will do that a week or two after our 2nd covid vax shots as a celebration– mine’s the 16th, his is the 19th. == I hope the tree guys come and finish your job, but it’s good you didn’t pay them in full! Just in case... == I’m glad your mom is fully vaccinated now. Is she feeling okay after the 2nd shot? Very happy my mother got her shots all done before her move happened – definitely a positive about being in a senior living situation, given the difficulties so many are having getting appointments. Bf’s mom gets her 2nd shot tomorrow. == Let us know what you decide as to your master bath renovation. When we have our water pipes replaced (if bf doesn’t get flaky about it), we’ll have the plumbers access the bathtub piping from the front, not the back (which is in a closet), and that will force us to re-tile the tub surround (not DIY, someone we hire). I worry about coordinating the work, but I want this done! If we had a 2nd full bath, we’d replace our tub with a shower like you are, but oh well. No can do - we only have one full bath and a powder room in our house. Resale values demand at least one tub in the house, so that’s that. I do love those frameless glass shower enclosures though – that’ll be so nice for you. Whoa, what a horror story getting stuck in the shower – no wonder you’d reject anything that could potentially get stuck like what happened to you before.

Hi Shad – I hope lockdown is done now. And I hope it’s a long while before another one.

Hellos to the rest of you!

    ==

Tomorrow our fireplace insert will be installed. I wish bf were going to be here, but he’s taking his mom for her 2nd covid vaccine shot, so I imagine he’ll be gone for a lot of it. And of course I have several meetings tomorrow…oh well, I’ll get through it. We’re using the existing set of ceramic gas logs to convert our downstairs fireplace (in the rec/wreck room) to gas. Right now it’s got a gas starter, but is still wood-burning...which is one reason why we rarely use it…so that’ll be nice. And hopefully a motivator to get that “wreck” room fixed up, lol. I look forward to getting rid of the big stack of old firewood that’s been sitting around so long!

This weekend I’ll be back over at my mom’s old apartment to continue the clearing out. My sister asked about my mom’s pots and pans and other cookware. There might be a couple pieces I take, but we’re actually set up pretty well with cookware so I’m not going to take much. I’m only tempted because my mother has some Farberware that matches ours, and has a couple pieces that are different sizes than what we have….okay, I need to stop talking myself into it!!! We don’t have enough kitchen cabinet space to add much of anything!

I’m getting frustrated with bf about the lack of progress on our other home projects. I need to have a little talk with him about this. I’m tired of looking out the office window and seeing the fallen down sections of fencing.

Sometime this week I'll phone the patio shop about our patio umbrella. It's been over a week now, so it should be ready soon.

    That's it for me! TTFN.

  • Hidee Ho Everyone....

Kinda missed Easter but sounds like most had a delightful time. We sure did. We spent it at my bro and SIL. Both my kids showed up so it was extra nice for me. My bro and SILs son is still in Russia on business (has been there since October). He gets to come home May 5. We are looking forward to celebrating that. We all hate it he is in Russia. He stays in his hotel when not at the plant. Russia absolutely hates americans. He is light brown hair and green eyes so he stands out as if announcing I am American. Anyway, their daughter went to her SOs parents in Chicago.

Cs house goes on the market tomorrow. Open house is 1-3. My realtor thinks it will go very fast as Indy is in a shortage of houses for sale. I pray it does cause I don't want two house payments till it does sale. We had to make a couple of improvements, carpet and foundation work. That was about 1500. Hopefully it will sale better now. Fingers crossed.

Only about 7 weeks til vacation. I am more than ready. I have had enough of this work life and need a break. Altho I still love my job here at Edward Jones and this month on the 26th I hit my 6th month anniversary. Training is over this month so I am no longer a BOA in training. I am a full fledged Business Office Administrator. How exciting. My boss and wife are having their third child as I type. She is having a C section. They don't know the gender yet, but I am betting a boy. Just a gut feeling. Just waiting on the text and pictures.

Royce had his 7th birthday and baseball has started. His first game is supposed to be tomorrow but we have 100% chance of rain. The fields he plays on do not drain especially well, so I am guessing it will be cancelled. Both the boys are getting so tall. Jacob is 9 and as tall as an 11 year old. Royce is about the height of a 9 yr old. Jacob hits me just under my chin and I am 5'9". THey are both into playing Xbox, gaming. Minecraft and such. Don't ask me, I have no idea other than the name of the games. haha

We have had exceptionally great weather lately and I am loving it. I also have windows in my office that I can enjoy the sun shining. There is a male and female house finch that have nested on the overhang and visit me several times a day. House finches are red and oh so pretty. Not sure if there are eggs in the nest because she never sits on it, I am afraid to get too close for fear of scaring then off. I will enjoy from afar.

Best get my list of stuff done here at the office.

    Enjoy your day/night!!
  • Afternoon all.

Cool-ish today, but bright and sunny. Yesterday started off cloudy and a bit overcast, but by mid-afternoon it was sunny and near 60. I took a walk after work. I missed walking over the winter!

I need some new sneakers. Was thinking of trying those Skecher Archfit shoes since I do need shoes with arch support. I don’t know why I keep on putting it off. I should just order a pair online and get it done with. I can always return them if they don’t fit or feel right.

Annie – Good to hear from you! Nice you were able to spend Easter with family. I bet your brother and his wife will be sooo happy to have their son home from Russia – so far away and for such a long time! == I hope C’s house sale goes smoothly. The market is crazy right now, so I’m sure it’ll go quickly – is that the reason he decided to sell? Or is it just not wanting to be a landlord anymore? == Awesome you have vacation coming up - everyone needs a break from the day-to-day routine. I haven’t had a *real* vacation in who knows how long. Little weekend getaway last fall to Galena, IL. Another little getaway tentatively planned for this August in Door Count, WI. But nothing big. Need to plan something!!== Congrats on your upcoming completion of training and 6 month work anniversary! That’s a lot of training – good to be with a company makes an investment in its employees like that. So have you learned stuff about investing, just from being in the office and seeing and hearing what goes on? ==I hope you’ll have some funny baseball stories to tell now that you’ll be going to some of Royce’s games…Hey, how are the doggies?

How are the rest of you doing?

As usual, nothing much to report. This past weekend…very uneventful, in other words - boring. Saturday was some errands and lunch out with bf at the Middle Eastern place. Laundry, loaded up my parent’s Amish bookcase with my workout videos. Thought I’d get rid of the old bookcase, but I ended up putting some other exercise equipment on it. Saturday night bf went to a retirement party for the father of his friend who finally retired at age 73. I was just glad to have some “me time”. I watched an episode of Longmire, and also watched the first episode of Heartland. As Heartland is a Canadian show, I’m wondering if I’ll see a bunch of the actors that do the Hallmark shows/movies. Just one episode and I saw two of them I recognized.

Sunday was boring, but I did get out for a walk. Also got out for a walk yesterday. Today after I get this posted I’m going to go to the park and go for a walk. Not doing much else in the way of exercise. I’m way too sedentary these days!

For the rest of the week…hair appointment after work on Thursday. On Friday morning, the repiping company that gave us a quote over the phone is coming out to do one in person. I hope this will finally be the last bit of hemming and hawing by bf before getting this plumbing project started. Friday after work I’m getting my 2nd covid shot. On the weekend I’ll get out to visit mom, and I might spend some time at her old apartment to do more clean out. Oh, also might meet up with my friend D to have breakfast for her birthday, which is middle of next week.

That’s about it, so I’ll get this posted, shut down the computer and get out for my walk!! Take care of yourselves and post when you can! TTFN.
  • Hi everyone,

Time to check in but nothing interesting to report. I am still doing the vaccine clinic - getting tired of it as I'm sure are the regular workers so we hope to wrap things up by mid May and then the stragglers can go to regular clinics or the pharmacies. I think there's about 40% of the people in this area who will fight getting the vaccine so it will be interesting to see how the infections spread and hang in there.

We are getting closer to spring. Some of the places have gotten plants already but it's too early to plant and I am not hauling things inside and out. It was last May that I was bringing flats of plants into the 3 season room for a frost when I tripped and permanently damaged my leg so not making that mistake ever again. We had about 100 trees taken out of the property - some damaged and rotted, some too close to the house for fire danger. They tore the blazes out of the lawn - deep muddy ruts that they have to come back and finish the stump grinding and then smooth things out and lay dirt, grass seed and hay. These people are not the best at being timely. DH only gave them a small deposit and said he won't pay the rest until the job is done - as it is, I doubt we will see them back until June (although in fairness there was a spring road ban for heavy vehicles which lifts today). Right now it's a big mess. I am not into doing a vegetable garden this year - we have a great farmers market, I can buy what I need and we have too short of a growing season to make gardening very worthwhile. I will do a herb box on the deck again. DH is taking 2, week long trips out west in June and July for photography classes and I don't know who he thinks is going to haul the hose clear across the yard to water as well as feed his deer and birds every day. He has a pulled muscle in his neck and has not been able to go get more corn so the poor deer gather in the yard and stare at the house. I can't look out my windows... He said they can eat grass and I reminded him there IS NONE because the tree guys obliterated our yard... He has also been very winey, cranky and babyish and it's getting on my nerves. We also both have been feeling under the weather the last week which has not helped. Extremely tired, headaches, very very slight temperatures. So we've been taking it easy and trying to not annoy each other.

We had the lady come and measure our bathroom and laundry room for remodelling. That was last week, we have to meet with her to pick out tile and cabinets so she can give us an estimate - I'm betting we won't hear from her for another month. EVERYONE is thinking of remodelling projects and there is a severe shortage of laborers up here because some people don't want to work, some are unreliable and this is a small town so employers don't / can't pay as well in the city. We are too old to do the work ourselves. They said we probably wouldn't get anyone to start the project until the fall. We are not in a hurry so that's ok. At least it will get finished rather than DH starting things and then abandoning them. He finally put the door frame up around the front entrance. He took the moulding down 4 years ago when we replaced the door... This is why I want to pay someone to do the job - at least it gets finished. I am not criticizing - I simply cannot help him and he is getting to the point with his age problems with his neck that he should not be doing this either. He is just very fussy and is afraid someone will not do as good a job as he will. Which is a legitimate concern but... you have to work with what you have.

I am still in the battle to lose weight. Nothing is working. I keep bouncing the same 3 pounds up and down up and down. Tried Noom, just started Intermittent Fasting - at least that will break my night time munchie habit. I am getting so tired of this but I know so many of my issues are due to the excess weight so I know I can't give it up.

My Mom is doing fine - got her second Covid vaccine, now she will find something else to make us crazy. My sister has her hands full taking care of the old people. I worry for the stress she has.

Laura - I did not care for the Sketcher line, even my sister who was a long time fan has had issues with them recently as she has more stress on her feet running around. I did have a pair called Mighty Walk Gravity Defyer I got from a place called The Walking Company. They feel like boxy Frankenstein shoes - like boxy sneakers but they are really great if I have to be on my feet for most of the day. Probably the only shoes I can wear for 8+ hours without pain. Extra cush. Speaking of walking - do you ever think you will go back to work in the office again? I see that people are complaining they don't want to leave their work from home offices. Not a good idea to complain... Yay for being done with your vaccine. Don't let your guard down yet. Hope you got going on the repiping project.

Good to hear from you Annie. I hope C's house sells quickly. The real estate market is hot everywhere. Construction is nuts too - you can't get contractors and materials prices have skyrocketed so that's good for the used home market. Glad you had a nice Easter with the family. 6 months on the job already. Glad you like your work - that's important. I hope everything goes well for your vacation - it's been a while and everyone needs something to look forward to. Sounds like the kids are growing like weeds. They gain speed quickly after 6 years old it seems. We have a ton of birds too. We must have 200 juncos that flew in and are taking up residence in the trees. Sometimes the singing is deafening. DH thinks we will see baby pileated woodpeckers this year and is all excited. I love walking outside and hearing the spring bird songs. Male turkeys are all in our yard fanning out strutting for the ladies.

    NO bears yet!
👀 - hmmn accidently opened an emoji panel different than 3fc and don't know how i got that or how to get it back.

Anyway I am planning on a meatloaf for dinner and I want to make a 7 layer salad to go with it so should get started on that now as it needs time to sit and meld the flavors. Hope you are all doing well. Check in when you can...

  • Morning all
It's been awhile but I'm still here. Happy I hear you on the weight issues. I've tried everything. But for me it's the lack of will power. Hello's to the rest.
  • Morning all.

Not much going on in my world. Just work, the home projects, tv, reading, visiting my mom.

Our fireplace insert was installed nearly two weeks ago. We were instructed to run the fireplace for at least 10 hours to cure the insert’s paint, so we did that towards the end of last week (can’t wait to see the gas bill for this month). We ran a fan and the HVAC unit’s fan, had a lot of windows open, closed off all the bedrooms and all was good. I’m glad we did this project. Our chimney liner – made of clay or something – had been deteriorating and pieces would periodically crumble off and fall into our firebox. We didn’t want to install a new liner. Aside from the insert being more energy-efficient, I imagine any wind howling down the chimney will be lessened now that there’s intake and exhaust ducts in there, and the firebox is now sealed.

The repiping company came out on Saturday to actually see our plumbing situation so they could quote us on the same work the other plumber quoted us. We’re expecting a quote in the next day or so. To access the plumbing for our tub/shower, they could probably have opened up the wall behind it, which is inside the closet bf uses – it already has a small access panel behind the tub faucet. However, we’ve decided to just have whoever does this project open it up from inside the tub/shower area and then remodel that whole area.

I’ve been wanting to remodel our full bathroom for a long time now, but we’ve only done the minimum cosmetic things – paint the walls, install a new window blind. Now that we’ve decided to do this…I’m kind of freaked out. Finding the right contractor and making all the choices for materials. I know it would be more practical and satisfactory to just do the whole remodel at once, but right now I think I’m chickening out and I’m going to propose to bf that we only do the tub/shower part – new tub, tile, and tub/shower fixtures. The floor, vanity, etc. can come a bit later. I’ll probably change my mind about all of this a million times, but right now, that’s how I’m feeling.

Since we’re adding a (partial) bath remodel to the list this year, I think the replacement of the 3-season room windows can wait another year or two. I might just get outside with a wire brush/scraper, remove as much loose/peeling paint as I can, and slap a coat of paint on there to protect the wood for the time being. The windows are on three sides, but the worst is on the south sides where the sun hits it for long periods of the day. I just want to protect the exposed wood until we get around to replacing the windows.

I got my second covid shot last Friday, so I’ll be fully protected in ten days. Bf got his yesterday. Not that masks and hand sanitizer will go by the wayside, but we’ll feel safer.

I visited my mother on Saturday and I took her outside since it was a nice day, and it was better than my last two visits.

Work is work. One project I’m working on (an annual thing) may finally have taken a positive turn, and I’m cautiously optimistic.

    ==

Happy – Given we’re having a freeze warning here overnight tonight, I agree that it’s definitely too early to get anything outside. I feel bad for my perennials, but they’ve survived many years, so they should be okay. I purchased some herb seed packets a couple months ago, but haven’t started them yet. I’m keeping my basil plants alive down in my basement mini-greenhouse, but haven’t been using them for anything…I think I’d get more use out of cilantro and oregano. == I hope the tree people get back to your place to take care of the stump grinding and grass. Bad enough you have to adjust to fewer trees, let alone everything being torn up… == I’m sorry you and your dh have been under the weather lately. Maybe you need a break from the vaccine clinic. I don’t recall if you said how many days/hours a week you volunteer there, but maybe it’s starting to feel too much like a job!!! == I’ll be interested in hearing about your remodeling project, if you can get on someone’s schedule! == Don’t give up on the weight loss battle. Are you able to use that nu step machine? Maybe even those small bicycle pedal machines would be helpful, and you could use it from your easy chair/recliner. BF bought one for his mom – it’s call Cubii - but she said it was too difficult for her. He brought it back to our place the other day because he’s going to sell it to a friend. I pedaled for a few minutes at the lowest resistance and it surprised me that it was kind of difficult even at the lowest level…But I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. I find that the machines that use the magnetic resistance just feel more challenging to me. My stationary bike is the same way. It’s not very motivating to only be able to ride at level 1 or 2. …I’m not thrilled with it because of that, and I’m not self-disciplined enough to keep to a routine, so I’ve been rather sedentary myself. I need to do start some 30-day challenges to get back to activity. Planks, squats, etc. == Thanks for the Skecher input. I think I’m just going to continue with the New Balance sneakers I like. Even those aren’t a sure thing, because they come out with a new version of the model I wear on a regular basis and they tweak it – I worry that the changes won’t work for me. == As for going back to the office…I know it’ll eventually happen, but I have no intention of working in our office 5 days a week ever again. It’s just not necessary. Even my boss - originally adamantly against WFH - has come around. Hopefully he’d be amenable to me only being in the office one or two days per week. For now, I feel we’re still a long way off from returning to the office . == What’s a 7-layer salad? My mind went to a layered thing that’s like a taco dip – which I LOVE – but I know that’s not what you’re talking about, LOL.

    Hi Ceejay!!

Okay, I’ll get this posted now. Everyone have a good rest of the week!
  • Hah - speak of the bears and here they come. Today was garbage day so DH rolled the can out late yesterday. At some point a bear came by and had a nice breakfast of 3/4 of a Sara Lee cherry pie, 4 chicken tenders, and 3/4 of a loaf of yellow moldy brioche bread. He made a mess, DH had to go clean it up as the trash people will not even take what's still in the can. So he had to call for them to come back again after he cleaned up. Don't know that they will. I am trying to find a nice restaurant for my birthday. I find something and then find it has crappy reviews. I am not excited about my birthday - have not enjoyed being in my 60's at all. Off now to go get my inner ear crystals reset - vertigo strikes bad in the spring during sinus season for some reason. Be back later to catch up.
  • MIA again. Can't stop now, but I am still alive and kicking. Life is busy just now with all sorts of bits and pieces. Back as soon as I get a moment - probably between breakfast and french lessons.
  • Okay, finally made it back. I've got a new pair of hearing aids. They worked well - for one day - and then I found that with the bluetooth connection I could answer the phone or hear anyone speak. Had to resort to having the phone with me all the time. So today I took the aids and the blue tooth connector back to the man - who was completely stumped as to why this doesn't work. Upshot is that I have a new connector, however the problem still persisted. Answer - reboot the bloody phone. Honestly do we still have to go to the beginning of time to get things to work? For $6K nearly $7K you would think they had ironed out the stupidity wouldn't you.
Other than that I have been busy with Probus stuff and more problems from technology in the sound system - very embarrassing when you have a guest speaker.

The weather has cooled down dramatically and we are in the low teens over night now Perfect for sleeping. Makes a change from kicking the blanket and sheet off when you wake up in a sweat and the air con is now switched off as is the fan. Even the bugs are starting to disappear. Hallelujah.

Having a bbq here on Sunday which is my birthday. I didn't want to take the entire family to a restaurant. I really didn't actually want to go to a restaurant. So I suggested that they bring along a plate each and I will cook up some meat, chicken and sausages. What can possibly go wrong.

Laura - if you have more than one bathroom, go for the full revamp. It's cheaper and easier in the long run. If you don't have another bathroom then I presume that like over here you can hire a bathroom to get around the problem since you won't be able to use the room while waterproofing is drying and there is no running water or toilet (usually about 2 days)

Happy - glad to hear your Mum is now compliant. It doesn't actually stop you getting the virus but the symptoms are less severe and it generally seems to help with community transmission. My doctor is calling me about it, but I am worried about the fact that I have had cancer, and that my blood clots quickly so I am off to see her the week after next.

That's about it for the moment. Time to get dinner on. Not that I have much appetite these days and I get depressed at not losing any weight. Doc will sure hear about that prednisilone when I see her. Bloody stuff.

Sorry to be late; story of my life, always a day later and a dollar short!
  • Hello Chickie Friends!

I have many reasons I haven't posted in so long. I have all kinds of excuses....long work ours, illness, tired. You know.....

I have gained 20 lbs that I can't seem to take off because I can't commit to myself to do healthy things.

So I am here to tell you all I am starting again.....and I need all of you with me. You ladies know my good and bad, this is a safe place to come and share my day...and I need the daily check-in, so here I am.

My daily plan today is to do 30 min on my recumbent bike, log my food in My Fitness pal, journal, clean the bathroom, and get my winter boots and shoes put away and my summer shoes in the closet and get a nap in there somewhere.

We have been told that we will return to work in the office July 6 on a rotating schedule until September and then we should be back full staff daily. I have almost two weeks of vacation already on the July calendar and my shoulder surgery is July 22, so I won't be in the office much at all and with my 6 to 8 weeks of recovery, I really won't be back until October.

I have loved working at home and not having the commute, but I love my salary more so I will be ok with whatever it is.

That's it for me. I better get to doing something towards my list.
