Shaping For The Future
Time to get back on track by eating healthy, exercising, and thinking positively to influence the desired changes we desire in our bodies. Working on this together we can provide the support we need when we are feeling down, slacking off, and tackling blocks in our progress. In addition, we can share experiences, and cheer each other on when we have success. It's time to get started...
|
Here I am...ready to start again!
|
Yippee! Glad to have you here again. :carrot:
|
Happy Saturday!
I started it by cleaning the oven, now going on 3 days. But now I have decided to finally call it quits. If I can just get my husband to do the same. He is using the power sander with wire brushes to clean the racks. I tried to get him to stop 3 times now and he still says I am almost done. During the last 2 days working on it, I was the one who kept saying I am almost done. Well it is not perfect now, but I have spent too much of my life on it. This 3rd time I used oven cleaner and it helped, but there are still spots that are hard to access, so that's it for me. Now just need a good hot burn in it, and then I think we will be ready to go. So my goal is to lose these 30 lbs. I can definitely feel the weight sagging on my body. So I am shooting for 1-2 lbs a week. I think that is reasonable. I know it will come off easier at first, and then get harder as I get closer to my goal. Maybe I will go for a walk today (rain/sun) and just do something different. Time to get started....till later. |
You have really been tackling that oven!
Finally we are going to get a few days of sunshine, then hurricane Florence is going to drop 2-3 inches of rain on Monday. I actually lost a few pounds, but I have this old lady belly fat that won't budge...... |
This is the house of endless spiders and flies. The flies just love to linger under the window, and when I open them about 20 fly away. It seems they have been growing from the base of the windows. All different size spiders keep showing up everywhere. With enough use I expect they will all move away. I hope so.
Spent yesterday just cleaning house. Today will go to a flea market and hope to take a long walk too. Need to find a church to attend. Have to do some more research on it. Hope Florence dwindles down by the time she reaches your area. Congratulations on losing those pounds. :carrot: Have a great Sunday! |
Did some stretches this morning, and spent time on my elliptical. :ebike: Tried to get the hubby to join in, but no luck there. Was going to to go for a walk, but then the landlord was going to stop by, so wanted to make sure I met up with him. He was very nice and helped us figure out the heating system. I hope to have heat and hot water in the bathroom tomorrow when I wake up. :crossed: I'm so happy that he stopped by when he did too, because we showed him one of the drainage areas that is starting to plug up and found out it is our septic system. So he will be back tomorrow to help get that drained. Yippee! It is much more pleasant to work with him than his rental manager.
Back to work tomorrow. It is only a 4 mile drive. Now I don't spend hours on the road. That's a relief. The exercise part was easier today, just need to work on my eating habits now. They are still out of control. :eating2: |
Back on the elliptical this morning and some more stretches.
Stores are getting the Halloween candy out I see. Need to stay away from eating too much of that. |
We got pounded with rain yesterday, but nothing like the horrible flooding in North Carolina. Sunny today. Really can't do much outside because the ground is so saturated. I have late lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, stringbeans and cauliflower planted and they look great! The raised garden was awesome this year.
Trying to watch my portions and snacking..... |
That is a nice mix of vegetables. Sounds really good. Reminds me I need to make some vegetable paprikash. I haven't made any in a while. I bet you are really glad you have a raised garden now with all the rain.
Back on the elliptical again today. Still need to work on my portion sizes. |
:welcome2: Hi Chris77
Still cloudy with drizzle here.....I hope the weather changes once Fall arrives on Saturday! I have 3 outside projects to do as soon as the weather cooperates. Put fence around the blueberries, add stall mats and replace some fence in the paddock. Corrina, did you finally get hot water? |
Down 2 lbs :cb:
Hope you have good results too! |
Wow Renee!!! Another 2 lbs gone, you are doing great! :carrot: My weight didn't change this week. I need to make a few changes to what I have been eating for breakfast. I think that will help. More oats, muselix, or granola rather than eggs.
We did get the hot water to work now and when we want it. So no more cold showers in the morning. Worked outside yesterday tackling the overgrown weeds. I will have to tackle it in stages to work them down to where I can mow them. I want to have a area behind our garage on the hill for our dog to use for the bathroom. Welcome Chris!! |
Went to the agricultural show today. Walked around for 3 hours. I love the Wensleydale Sheep. There were all types of other breeds too. Beautiful wool. There was a woman there who does everything from starting with raising the sheep to the final product of making various sweaters. They look nice. She custom makes sweaters and other products too. They are expensive but will last for a long time. I am considering having one made.
Yesterday went to a flea market in the morning. Bought 3 plants (conifer tree, geraniums, and lavender) to put around the outside of my house. Later around mid-day, walked the one mile to church. Enjoyed the service in the old small church. I walked back there again today and just said a few prayers. I think it will become one of my new short walks. My eating is not the best. I started off with a good frame of mind, but the whole wheat seeded bread is just so good. I think I ate 1/3 of the loaf today. That shows no signs of moderation at all. I need to avoid buying that in the future. That will cut out some extra undesired calories right there. Have a great Tuesday! |
Well, to celebrate the first day of Autumn, I baked a pumpkin pie. I only had a small piece :)
Yes, the sweaters will last a lifetime. I can't wear wool. I get all itchy. We have an alpaca farm not to far from here. She also makes things from the wool. Gloves, socks, scarfs etc. I can't wear that either. Some people are so talented. Sam goes back to work next week. He's doing really well. Even the doctor was surprised at how far he has come. He's only going 1/2 days for 2 weeks to see how it goes. He thinks he will be fine. We're getting more heavy rain tomorrow and Wednesday. |
Wool makes me itch too. I usually try to wear a shirt or turtleneck under it so it doesn't bother me so bad. That seems to work. However, I know of other people who can't even do that.
I glad that Sam is doing much better. I hope that his new work schedule turns out to be fine too. Good job on the will power today with the pumpkin pie! That would be hard for me. I ate a small snack this evening for supper. Trying to only eat very small meals in the evening. Also, managed to not touch the candy bowls today at work filled with candy bars and sweets. One day down and a many more to go. Hope the rain is kind to you. Have a good Wednesday! |
Stayed on track with exercise this morning and two meals. However, my coworker bought me a TWIX bar this afternoon. Instead of saying no, I ate it. I need to find a way to politely say no. I plan on that tomorrow. I know, I should have done that today. I will advise of my diet rules tomorrow to avoid future pitfalls.
|
We had flooding here yesterday and right now it's raining again! The ground is super saturated.
I know I would have eaten the candy bar. I love chocolate! Yes, it would be best if you made your co-workers aware of your diet rules. I got lots of exercise today. 2 of the horse stalls flooded and I had to shovel all the wet shavings. Hope they don't flood again tonight! |
No change this week :(
Sun is finally shining!!! I have a busy weekend. Putting up some fence today and working at a horse show tomorrow. Have a great weekend! |
Down 1 lb this week. Yippee! I might catch up to you yet. :D Well, I finally got the hubby to stand on the scale this morning. So now he has to face the facts that he needs to lose weight with me. I hope so. I may try counting calories this time around and see if that will work. It can be a burden sometimes, but we will give it a go for a few days anyway.
|
Well, I'm not doing very good at counting calories. I haven't found the time to research the amounts on line so far. Guess I need to be aware of the foods I eat and the amounts until then.
Acquired a slow cooker yesterday. I haven't had one in years. I tend to cook stuff in my pressure cooker most of the time. So I will test the slow cooker out today with some soup of some type. Thought we were going to get our first frost yesterday, but didn't. Felt cold enough for it. The leave are starting change colors now. It definitely feels like fall. Hope the rain has subsided for now for you. Have a good Tuesday! |
We had a beautiful weekend. I worked at a horse show on Sunday. We had more rain today and are under a tornado watch right now. It's going to be quite warm and humid the rest of the week. I got out my Fall decorations, but it certainly doesn't feel like Fall!
I love my slow cooker and use it a couple times a week. One of my favorite recipes is putting a whole chicken in it, then use the broth for soup. I have never used a pressure cooker. I made a cinnamon apple cake and it made the house smell soooo good. I might try a tiny piece :) |
Hope the tornado didn't head in your direction and the winds subsided.
Made cabbage and beans in my slow cooker. It was okay. What type of other meals do you make in yours? Did you cut up your chicken when you put it in there? I think you would have to just to make sure it all got fully cooked. Cinnamon Apple Cake, my mouth is already watering just thinking about it. :) Spent time on the elliptical this morning before work. Did a mini walk with the dog tonight. Breakfast was granola, lunch was taco salad, and dinner was cabbage/bean soup. |
No tornado, but we sure got lots of rain.....
For the whole chicken, I put some chopped carrots and celery in the bottom then put the while chicken on top. I season the chicken with poultry seasoning and smoked paprika. Cook on low for 8 hrs.or high for 5 hrs. I always check it with a thermometer just to be safe. It's delicious. Chili is another easy fix. I don't do many vegetarian dishes. I'm sure you can find some with Google. Cleaned out my purple martin houses and picked string beans. Having broccoli salad, grilled pork chops and roasted potatoes for dinner. |
Great words :)
But it's so gosh darned with sprinkles on top hard to be on a diet when there is so much yummie food around!!!
|
Down 2lbs for weigh-in today. Yippee!!! I hope you have good success too.
Did you get any of purple martins this year? I think we may buy some pheasant feed a bit later in the fall and lure some of the pheasants around the area to our house. Been throwing the peelings down one lane, but nothing has touched them yet. Guess the wildlife is still feeding on all the apples. We do have our neighbor's sheep visit us about daily, but I don't consider her wildlife. Her name is Betsy and our dog is always looking for her. He likes her. Hope you have a good Sunday! |
You're doing great!!!!!
No change for me :( Yes, I had quite a few martins this year and hopefully more next year. Can you believe it's raining again! Sam took a drive around the fields and said he's never seen it so wet. Almost got stuck a couple of times. I haven't seen a pheasant around here in years. I think the foxes and coyotes get them. We do have a flock of turkeys, |
You started off great on your weight loss. I am still trying to catch up to you. :)
Glad you got the purple martins that you were hoping for. Hope some sunshine heads your way soon. Doing good on my eating moderation for the last few days. Got to stick to the plan..... |
Went for a nice walk yesterday. Got a neighbor a few miles away that sells fresh free range eggs. So took a walk over there to get a dozen. Will have to try them out later this week.
Today took a nice walk around a reservoir. The weather was beautiful. Tonight was not good though. Ate way too much food while watching TV. I got to stop doing that. I know better too. |
Weigh-in today shows up 1.5 lbs. What?!? I am going in the wrong direction!!! Hope you do better than me.
Rainy here today, but I did get a short walk to church in the rain and then some time on my elliptical. Little steps. |
No change for me again :(
We had lots of rain yesterday with a temperature of 80. Today we're down to 50! We've had crazy weather all summer so now I hope things change. We have lots of projects to get finished before winter sets in..... I'm in a baking mood with the colder weather....not good when you're trying to eat healthier! |
Off today and tomorrow. Hope it doesn't rain, so I can get a walk in, cut some weeds, trim my bushes and trees.
Haven't been doing so good on my diet. Last night I ate a small bag of cookies. Of course it was sitting in front of the TV. I really need to ban eating in front of the TV. I know what I should do, and I really need to make sure I do that. |
Had our first hard frost last night. Yesterday I picked the rest of the peppers, cauliflower and broccoli. Drained the hoses and put all the potted plants and hanging baskets down in the cellar. No more gnats or mosquitoes!
Have a great weekend! |
Weigh-in for this weekend showed no change for me. I am not happy about that. I need to look more closely at what I am doing and what I can change to start getting these pounds to drop.
We had our second frost this past week. Got part of the trees/bushes trimmed. Have a few more to do still. At this time of the year, it is dark out when I go to work and dark out when I come home. It feels so strange. I look forward to seeing some sunshine today as I switch from day to mid shift tonight. Hope to take another walk somewhere this morning. I love seeing my dog run down the wooded trails and fields. He looks so happy. The trees all look beautiful with color right now. It has been very windy so I hope there are some leaves still remaining. Hope you are doing fine and all is working out well for your husband at home/work. Did you get all the hay you hoped to get for this year? |
Super windy today. My mats and plants outside are getting blown all around. Off to order our weedwacker and lawn mower, finally! I hope my hubby doesn't change his mind again before we get there. Ate a purple sponge cake slice today with orange topping. Not to big but very festive for Halloween. I wonder if they used beet juice to color the cake. Moderation is key. Have a good Tuesday!
|
Been very windy here lately. The house sounds haunted with the wind whipping around it, and the doors opening and shutting by themselves. Makes it very festive for the Fall season. The leaves are about half gone now. November will soon be here.
We went for a walk this morning along a small country road and then back through a wooded path along a stream. It was very pretty with with moss covered rocks and sun trickling through. Still have a few bushes and trees to trim up. Hope to get some of those done today if the wind dies down. We did order the weed wacker and lawn mower yesterday. Yippee! Have a Happy Wednesday! |
It's been chilly here. The leaves haven't really changed color yet. I don't think they're going to be very colorful because of all the wet weather we had. Expecting our first nor'easter on Saturday.
We've been selling lots of hay now that the colder weather has arrived. I still have some cabbage, broccoli and parsley in the garden. I'm already planning what I want to grow next year! Glad you got a mower and weed wacker. I think we'll need to mow 1 more time this year. Enjoy your Thursday! |
Haven't been eating the best. I can't seem to get motivated. I start off good in the morning, but it seems to go downhill after that. Perhaps I will look into some of the fresh liquid diets. However, I would like for it to be something natural. I really would like to try to avoid all the preservatives that are contained in various sorts of foods. I think the bad parts of my body are preserved enough.
|
No change for me today. I'm glad I didn't gain any. I need to take baby steps I believe. Just focus on losing at least 5 lbs for November. I think I can do that. I should be able to do that at least. Want to join me? We can do it if we put our minds to it.
|
I didn't even step on the scale! Yes, I will join you!
I've been baking way too much....... |
