I'm glad your knee is feeling a little better. You sure did a lot with it today. Hope it is not sore.

National Ice Cream Day!!!! How did I miss that one. Well, guess I will just have to do without for now. Hope the flavor you chose was delicious, and that you were able to maintain control while eating it so not to over do it. I don't have that kind of will power for ice cream.

Tomorrow I hope to do a little better on my exercising. I had no time for it today. Came home today and went straight to dog training, then home again and its time to go to bed. No time to eat or anything. Ugh. Trying to catch up on things since I have been away from work.

Was a bit warm out there today. We waited until the evening to tackle the garden weeds. It looks like a tropical garden with all the rain and humidity. I did freeze some zucchini and broccoli yesterday. Still waiting for a nice ripe tomato!

Have an awesome Wednesday!

Sunflowers are still growing. I am looking forward to seeing some buds some day appear.

This picture below sums up how I felt today.

Have a fantastic Wednesday.

Picked the last of the blueberries today and thought I would melt! We were going over to a local farmers fair but it was too hot. It runs all week so we'll go on a cooler night.

Yes, definitely hot and humidddddd! I guess I will have to plan for some type of indoor exercise because even waiting until 8PM is not doing it. I still come in hot and drenched afterwards.

I thought blueberries were a cold/Fall weather type of berry. I always thought they were picked in the Fall.

Hope you have a terrific Thursday! Remember every time you open the refrigerator door to get a blast of cool air, you don't need to grab a bite.

Was planning on doing some painting in this house this weekend, but with it being so hot and humid out, I don't dare open any windows for any long period. So I guess I will just postpone it for a while. It can wait.

I think I will head to the river tomorrow morning with my dog. He will love the play time in the cool water. He hasn't had too much play time outdoors lately. So he will definitely enjoy it. I was planning on walking him early this morning, but the state services were spraying the sidewalks for bugs. So we were only outside for a quick bathroom break.

Tomorrow is weigh-in. Hope we both show some success. Good luck!

Corinna T 07-22-2017 07:56 PM

Exercise
2 mile walk
15 minute walk

Meals
2 eggs
2 figs
Taco Salad, torilla chips
Ice Tea

Went to the river this morning and played ball in the river for 30 minutes with my dog. He loved it.
Then we walked a 2 mile loop for him to dry. Later this morning, I went to the library to get/return a book. I like reading Nicholas Sparks books, but they make me cry to much. I just read too of Danielle Steel's books, but they are kind of slow and seems she kinds of repeats saying things. So I am trying a someone different, a book by Susan Wiggs called Family Tree. Next I went to the Animal Shelter to see the homeless pets, followed by the shelter thrift shop, and bought a new Exercise DVD there. Will have to use it tomorrow.

Today's weigh-in has me down 1/2 lb. Yeah! I hope you are successful too. Have a great Sunday!!

You did good! No change for me....

Getting more rain now and more for tomorrow. I think we live in a tropical rain forest!

I like books, but I'm not much into fiction stories. I read mostly instructional books. But what I do love to do, in the winter, is color. I have a few of those adult type intricate coloring books and all kinds of different colored pencils and markers. I find it very relaxing and a good way to pass the long winter nights.

Have a blessed Sunday!

30 minute walk

We got some rain last night, and a little bit this afternoon. Felt good. My watch quit working, so I decided to get a new one. However, after getting it today, I realized I can't always see the hands on the dial. I need a digital like my last one. So I will need to find another one. Perhaps I will find one on-line. That is what I did last time.

I hope I can squeeze some time tonight for my new exercise video. I was motivated about seeing it yesterday, but feeling lazy this evening. I need to crack the whip on myself and get going.....

Hope you enjoyed your Sunday, and have a terrific Monday.

Not much happening tonight. Very tired. Too tired to take my dog to his class. I feel bad about that, but too tired to drive safely. So I will probably go to bed early too.

There was a tornado that touched ground by a nearby town last night. It must have been very scary for the people that it impacted by it. We are suppose to get storms tonight. We need the rain, so I hope it comes, but I don't want anyone to get hurt or have damage from it.

Hope you have a terrific Tuesday!

Sounds like your garden is doing good! You will be busy canning and freezing stuff.
That is good. Lots of healthy fresh vegetables. I love the summer fruits and vegetables.
Perhaps I will make a good vegetable lasagna this weekend.
Hope your knees are feeling better.

I hear the next front of rain storms will be headed our way on Thursday and Friday, so check on those vegetables tomorrow.

Well, I had some excitement here today. I was picking peppers and my 89 year old mother-in-law came walking up to the garden. She lost her balance and fell. I couldn't pick her up with my bad knee. Thank goodness the neighbor across the street was out in his yard. I called to him and he and his sons came over and picked her up. She was in a lot of pain so I called the ambulance. She has some hip fractures. They're not sure if they will do surgery or what until the specialist sees her tomorrow. Always something!

1/2 hr. evening barn chores
1 hr. spraying weeds

Meals

roast beef sandwich
banana
beefy mac & cheese, stringbeans

My mother-in-law will be in the hospital until Sunday, then go to a rehab facility for 2 weeks. We're not sure how we will handle it when she comes home. I can't do stairs to take care of her. She has 12 stairs to go up to her bedroom and bathroom. I think maybe get a hospital bed and commode for her downstairs livingroom.

Hope the scale smiles at you tomorrow!

Corinna T 07-28-2017 08:37 PM

Oh my goodness! She was probably just glad to be outside sharing some of the day with you, and then to have that happen. That is so sad! I hope you can figure out some type of arrangement in your livingroom for her. However, you have steps there too to reach the bathroom. You may just have to set up a small bed on the side of your kitchen area for her too. I hope you can figure out something for her so she can heal and not have too much pain in the process. I hope the two of you didn't get caught in any of the rain.

Good luck with weigh-in tomorrow!

My new approach is..............

Meals
oatmeal with blueberries
cherries
roast beef sandwich
banana
grilled steak, baked potato, mixed veggies

No change for me....hope you did better

My mother-in-law lives in the house attached to ours, so the bed will be in her living room, not mine. Her kitchen is also next to her living room so that will make it easier for meals. She had a slight set back today at the hospital. Seems her sodium level is too high, I don't think they will move her to rehab until they get it under control.

We're finally going to cut more hay tomorrow....keeping fingers crossed it doesn't rain for a few days.

Have a great Sunday!

Corinna T 07-30-2017 04:21 PM

Exercise
2 hour walk
30 minute walk

Meals

I had problems logging in to this site last night, so sorry I didn't post until today.

No change for me this week. I need to figure out something different to try to get things moving along again.

I did exercise with my new exercise DVD yesterday for a hour. It was okay. I bought some Slimfast diet drinks to try this week in place of meals. I hope they taste okay. I figure I can drink two a day and then have one regular meal a day. Still have a few snacks of fruit or vegetables too. I will start drinking those tomorrow.

Hope your Mother-in-Law gets better soon. It must be unsettling for her right now. Poor woman.

Tomorrow will be another nice day. Hopefully you will find some time to take Steel for a drive. Happy Wednesday!

Meals

It poured like crazy on my way home today. Glad you were able to get some hay in before the rain hit your area. Of course, when I got home, there was no rain there. Seems the storm current has a habit of passing by our area.

Long day at work so I didn't get much time to do anything else once I got home except for a short walk.

I see you had a tomato and cheese sandwich, yes, I still need to make one sometime this week. :)

There is a Peach Festival later this month nearby. I definitely have to try to go to that. Have you been judging any fair exhibits this year?

Hope you have a terrific Thursday.

Another long day today. I am taking tomorrow off, since I have already worked more than my hours for this pay period. I need a break.

Hope your hay didn't get soaked and you are able to dry it out a bit more today.

I may go to a fair tomorrow. Going to take Jack with me so he can see the little pigs. There is suppose to be a greased pig chase so I think there would be so little pigs there too. I think they are so cute.

Have a happy Friday!

My knee and hamstrings are finally feeling better. Now I need to remember to not push it and re-injure them. I hear thunder so I guess we're going to get our daily storm.

I think I'll go watch a horse show on Saturday...I miss it.

I love peaches. The only trouble is I need to peel them before I can eat them. The fuzz makes me itch.

How's the Slimfast working for you? Do you get hungry?

Corinna T 08-04-2017 04:07 PM

Exercise
1 hour walk/jog
20 Modified push ups
1 hour walk at show
30 minute walk

Meals
Slimfast
Mock chicken bites, salad
Watermelon
Taco salad

As long as I am not doing any hard work/exercise, I don't get hungry with the Slimfast. It tastes fine as long as it is chilled. Not much volume to one, so it is shrinking my stomach intake. I get full faster.

Didn't go to the fair today. Greased pig catch is in evening rather than early morning. I didn't go because I don't like to be out late at night. I am a morning person. So we went to a Wheat Thresher, Steam engine, Tractor, etc show. We walked around there and it was interesting.

Good luck with weigh-in tomorrow. Have a Happy Saturday!

I guess we both need to figure out something new to get things moving along. I don't think I will reach my 10 pound loss by 21 August. That is out the door for sure. I will have to be more creative in finding ways to exercise and then control my eating habits.

I hope you have a nice Monday.
==========================

10 Ways to Control Your Cravings
By Paula Dranov
  • You can lose weight by overcoming your cravings now. Here are the latest tricks of the trade from researchers and experts:
  • Avoid your triggers. “You crave what you eat, so if you switch what you’re eating, you can weaken your old cravings and strengthen new ones,” says Marcia Pelchat, PhD, of the Monell Center. This can happen pretty fast. For five days, her study volunteers drank bland dietary-supplement beverages. During that time, they craved fewer of their trigger foods. By the end of the study, the volunteers actually wanted the supplements instead. The first few days are always the hardest, and you probably can’t completely eliminate your old cravings. But the longer you avoid your trigger foods, the less likely you may be to want them. In fact, you’ll probably begin to crave the foods you eat, a real bonus if you’ve switched to fresh fruit.
  • Destroy temptation. If you’ve succumbed to a craving and bought a box of cookies or some other trigger food and start to feel bad while eating it, destroy it. “Don’t just throw it away; run water over it, ruin it. You’ll feel a sense of accomplishment that you’ve licked your binge,” says Caroline Apovian, MD, director, Nutrition and Weight Management Center at Boston Medical Center. Don’t think about the money you’re wasting. If the cookies don’t go into the garbage, they’re going straight to your hips.
  • Go nuts. Drink two glasses of water and eat an ounce of nuts (6 walnuts, 12 almonds or 20 peanuts). Within 20 minutes, this can extinguish your craving and dampen your appetite by changing your body chemistry, says Michael F. Roizen, MD.
  • Jolt yourself with java. Try sipping a skim latte instead of reaching for a candy bar. The caffeine it contains won’t necessarily satisfy your cravings, but it can save you the calories by quenching your appetite, says Dr. Roizen. And the warm richness and ritual can distract you.
  • Let it go. Since stress is a huge trigger for cravings, learning to deal with it could potentially save you hundreds of calories a day. This will take some practice. You can try deep breathing or visualizing a serene scene on your own, or you can speed things up by buying one of the many CDs that teach progressive muscle relaxation. A good one is Relaxation/Affirmation Techniques, by Nancy Hopps.
  • Take a power nap. Cravings sneak up when we’re tired. Focus on the fatigue: Shut the door, close your eyes, re-energize.
  • Get minty fresh. Brush your teeth; gargle with mouthwash. “When you have a fresh, clean mouth, you don’t want to mess it up,” says Molly Gee, RD, of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
  • Distract yourself. If only ice cream will do, it’s a craving, not hunger. “Cravings typically last ten minutes,” says John Foreyt, PhD, of Baylor College of Medicine. Recognize that and divert your mind: Call someone, listen to music, run an errand, meditate or exercise.
  • Indulge yourself -- within limits. Once in a while, it’s OK to go ahead and have that ice cream. But buy a small cone, not a pint. Try 100-calorie CocoaVia chocolate bars and 100-calorie snack packs of cookies, peanuts or pretzel sticks. The trick is to buy only one pack at a time so you won’t be tempted to reach for more. And since even 100 extra calories can sabotage weight loss if you indulge daily, strike a bargain with yourself to work off the excess calories. A brisk 15-minute walk will burn 100 calories or so.
  • Plan or avoid. Vary your usual routine to avoid passing the bakery or pizzeria. If you know you’ll be face-to-face with irresistible birthday cake, allocate enough calories to fit it into your diet.
