    Yeah Renee!!!
    Good job.!!!!
You did terrific this week. I'm glad you enjoyed the book and it helped.

    Today's weigh-in shows....
I went down 4 lbs. Yippee!!! I am glad to see that. We both did great!!!
Got to keep on track and keep those pounds disappearing.
We can do it, and we are doing it.

We got snow today! About 4-5 inches.
It started this morning and and lasted until late this afternoon. It was very pretty.

Spent the day cleaning house. We set up a room in our house for exercising.
We have some exercise weights in there and I picked up two 15 lbs weights,
since that is approximately how much I want to lose. Wow, that is a lot of
extra weight to be carrying around. I need to keep picking them up every once
in a while to remind myself of what I need to lose, and what I have done to my body.

We put out some bird food and the birds of all types just flocked to our window.
We need to get some more feed and a few more feeders. It was fun watching them.
While watching them, I thought of your birds and deer. Do you still see any deer coming around?

Today's Tip from Fitness RX June 2009: Walk Off The Belly Fat
Walking regularly is the best way to prevent weight gain as you age.
A study showed that people who walked only 30 minutes per day gained 18 pounds less
than people who didn't walk. Those who walked further on a regular basis were better able
to lose or maintain weight. Other studies found that people who walked only 30 minutes,
five times per week lost an average of 5 pounds in 6 to 12 months without dieting,
watching what they ate, or exercising intensely. You can lose even more weight if you eat sensibly,
walk further, and faster. Regular walking is the simplest and most effective health habit that
controls body weight and promotes health.

    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    vegetable soup and hardboiled egg
    salad, shrimp scampi, rice

    You did great!

We only got a dusting of snow, but it's very cold this morning. 11 degrees with a breeze. I'll need to wear my facemask when I go do the barn work.
I have a luncheon meeting today. I'll need to careful with what I order for lunch.

Yes, I still have deer. Usually 12-16 come to eat in the morning. I was happy to see my favorite doe made it thru hunting season. Hopefully she'll have another fawn this year, but she's getting older so we'll see what happens.

    Have a blessed Sunday!
  • Exercise:
    1 hour walk in morning,
    15 minutes floor stretching exercises
    30 minutes on elliptical machine
    20 minute walk in evening

    Meals:
Breakfast- tofu scramble burrito (tofu, zucchini, spinach, tomato)
Lunch-Steamed broccoli, red onion, kidney beans, almonds
    Snack-Clementine
    Dinner- Bean soup, carrots

How did it go for your luncheon today? Did you choose wisely?
It must be so nice to see the deer family and their offspring, and
even more rewarding to see the family come back again the next year.

I made the mistake of eating two bowls of bean soup today. My stomach feels very full now.
I was very tired earlier and thought that food was the answer. It was only part of the solution.
I think what I need is a bit more sleep tonight.
So, I was too full to do any more on the elliptical today like I wanted.

Here with a recipe that sounds good. I will have to try it sometime.

    Quick Honey Orange Baked Apples
    4 large baking apples
    1 small banana, chopped
    1/3 cup dried cranberries, chopped
    3 tablespoons honey
    3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    4 tablespoons orange juice

Generously core each apple to allow adequate space for chopped fruit. Peel a strip off the top of each apple. Place each apple in a 6-ounce ramekin or custard cup. Combine banana, cranberries, honey, and cinnamon. Fill apples with fruit mixture. Pour 1 tablespoon of orange juice over each apple. Cook in microwave or oven for 5-7 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes. Makes 4 servings.
  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    hamburger
    roast beef, carrots, potato

    It's a balmy 6 degrees this morning....brrrrr

I'm going to try your baked apple recipe. I have everything except the dried cranberries so I think I'll substitute raisins. Sounds yummy!

Don't think I'll be doing much outside today. I think I "need" to go shopping
  • Exercise:
    11 flights of stairs
    15 minutes floor stretching exercises
    30 minutes on elliptical machine

    Meals:
    Breakfast- berry drink
    Lunch-bean burrito
    Dinner- mock crab bites, carrots

Broke my computer chair today while sitting in it.
Guess I wore it out and made it loose from all my extra weight.
Another incentive to lose weight. My husband is repairing it for me.

If you try the recipe, let me know if you like it or not.

Too cold here too to go outside. I have been doing some exercises inside.

Tip of the Day from Health Magazine, Jan/Feb 2017
    Skip the Chewing Gum
Many dieters take up this habit to keep from snacking,
but it causes you to gulp in extra air, contributing to bloating.
  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores - BRRRRR
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    california roll
    banana
    chicken, zucchini

Warmer out this morning, 8 degrees Did a little shopping yesterday. Stopped at Ace hardware. They were having a sale on sunflower seed, buy one, get one free plus I had a $5 off coupon, so I got 40 lbs for $11. Then I stopped at the grocery store for a few things and treated myself to a California roll for lunch. Today is laundry day. Sam and Chris are going to a farmers Expo in York, PA . They're going to stay overnight. Hopefully we won't get too much freezing rain tonight and lose power.

We had some excitement here yesterday. The police were chasing a wanted female felon and they crashed into one of our fields. There were police cars all over the place. I'm glad the ground was frozen so they didn't rip the hay field up.

    Have a great day!
  • Exercise
11 flights of stairs in morning
    30 minute walk mid-day
    30 minute walk in evening
    30 minutes on elliptical machine

    Fried rice, 2 egg rolls
    Fried cabbage and broccoli

Well, we are suppose to get some warmer weather in the next few days, in the 40's with rain, so
I hope that means that you will get some of the warmer trend too.

Sounds like you got a good deal at ACE Hardware!

Police cars and a felon chase right on your own land. That is exciting. Glad you are okay and your farm is still fine. Did the police catch the female felon?

Tip of the Day from Health Magazine, Jan/Feb 2017
    Eat Mini Meals

Instead of having three large meals during the day,
eat five or six smaller ones.
This can prevent the stuffed feeling
after downing a large meal, as well as the intestinal gas.
  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    vegetable soup, hardboiled egg
    banana
    chicken, noodles, zucchini

Yes, they caught her. She tried to bail out of the car when it crashed in the field, but the police were right there.

We had a bit of ice and snow last night. The roads are real slippery. Lots of accidents around. It's supposed to warm up to the 40's later today.

    Have an awesome Wednesday!
  • Exercise
    30 minute walk during mid-day
    30 minute walk during evening

    Meals
    Berry Drink
    Clementine
    Banana
    Mixed vegetable and tofu burrito
    Beans and cheese burrito

Today it warmed up some at noon and felt much nicer outdoors.
Tomorrow we are suppose to have 60 degree weather.

How are the plans going for your sister's wedding?

Started American Kennel Club (AKC) classes with my dog tonight. It was fun.
Need to learn all the formal stuff first before competitions.

Tip of the Day from Health, Jan/Feb 2017
Taking 10 days off from regular vigorous exercise
reduces blood flow to several areas of the brain,
    including the hippocampus,
    which is responsible for memory.
  • Exercise
    2 hrs. morning barn chores
    1/2 hr. evening barn chores

    Meals
    Oatmeal with blueberries
    banana
    vegetable soup, hardboiled egg
    pizza casserole, stingbeans

Wedding plans are moving along. The wedding will be at my church and the reception at a local restaurant. It's going to be a very small group, just close friends and family.

April is going to be a very busy month. The 7th and 8th are the rummage sale I run at my church, then I prepare the food for Easter sunrise service and then get ready for the wedding on the 29th......

What classes are you taking with Jack? Agility? Obedience?
  • Hello Corinna and Renee!

Hope there's room for another in your Friends thread! Although I'm not nearly as active as you two, I'm looking to increasing that activity along with weight loss using a very low carb plan. Lots of protein, veggies, and healthy fats

So far I've lost about 5 lbs this year, and have been trying to increase exercise although difficult in this weather. Attended a weight class at the local rec center yesterday and feel good about that. I've actually dusted off the old treadmill and will spend some time on that tonight.

    Take Care!

    Andi
  • Hi Andi

    Glad to see you!
  • Exercise
Zilch today (sadly), busy with work....a very long day

    Meals
    Tofu Scramble (with tomatoes, zucchini)
    Portabello sandwich, multigrain chips
    Veggie sub, multigrain chips

    Renee-
I am taking agility classes with him. He loves it.
They have some of the equipment that I don't have at home,
so that is why I signed up, so we could use them.

You were busy working in the barn this morning!
Hopefully all is well there with those horses.

Yes, your April sounds nice with wonderful events.

Andi! Hi, it's been quite some time.
Congratulations on your 5lb loss so far this year!! That is terrific.
Sounds like you have a good plan to keep you on track.
You are welcome on this thread anytime.

Tip for the day: Women's Health, May 2011, Bones
Research shows that just 10 minutes of high-impact exercises
three times a week can boost women's bone strength.
  • Exercise
1 1/2 hrs. morning barn chores
    1/2 hr. evening barn chore

    Meals
    oatmeal with blueberries
    turkey soup, hardboiled egg
    banana
    grilled steak, broccoli, rice

The weather was great yesterday. I don't think I have ever grilled outside so early in the new year.

Went grocery shopping and didn't buy any bad snacks!

The horses are doing fine. Too much mud to do any driving.

Does Jack know how to weave poles? I've seen some agility classes on tv and boy, can those dogs work the obstacles!

I hope the scales smiles for me tomorrow
  • Exercise
    30 minute walk

    Meals
    Tofu Scramble
    Banana, Clementine
    Bean Burrito
    Mixed beans and vegetables
    Few Walnuts

Congratulations on only choosing good food. Your will power is getting stronger.
Stronger desire for being healthy than eating those sweets!

My dog can weave 12 poles, and he barks the whole way through.
He may not be as fast as those on TV, but he has the potential.
He does a good job running through them.

We both have been doing good this week.
I hope we see the results tomorrow!

Tip for the day: Women's Health, May 2011, Pancreas
Shedding just 5 to 7 percent of your body weight
can delay and possibly prevent type 2 diabetes.
