Morning all,
It's cooled down a bit out our way, but is still warm. The humidity hasn't hit yet but no doubt will shortly. We seem to be having an invasion of the white caper butterfly (at least that is what I think it is) and I am hoping that nothing in the garden is attracting them to lay eggs and such. Love butterflies but they can be destructive from time to time.
Still no news from the keyhole surgery. The wounds are healed and the bruising is gone and I don't expect to get news from the colonoscopy until the end of the week. Waiting is hard but I said yesterday that it was time to start living again. Time to get on with life be it long or short. I am going to enjoy what is left. Accordingly, I am making plans for putting the vegetable garden to sleep for the summer and sorting out the house so I can get on with planning this RTW holiday that has been hanging about for several years.
Annie - have you come down to earth from the Cubs win yet. Good on them. Well done Cubbies. Must have been the brightest I see you have my favourite team (in the whole world) in Chicago this week - playing the Irish in Rugby Union. Unfortunately the All Blacks lost, but it sounded like it was a good game. I wait to see the result in the next game. Like the Cubs, the Irish hadn't beaten the Nzrs in 111 years. They have finally broken the drought.
Always good when you have the house to yourself. You do get past living with the kids again. I feel your pain.
Lucky you having a stand up desk. I had one in the last job I had in Melbourne. I loved it.
Hope S had a good birthday.
Susie - good luck on the interviews. Hope you ace the lot of them and then have to decide which job to take.
Happy - Yeah, I am totally with you on the weird appointment times that happen. I know when I had the keyhole stuff, I was told I wasn't 1,2 or 3 on the list so don't arrive before eight. When I go there at 7.45, they said they had been ringing me to find out where I was. Got home to collect the mail, and there was a letter telling me to report to the hospital at 8 yesterday morning.

Then I got 2 letters reminding me to go for an appointment - they must have really wanted to see me! I would not have been happy to have been left to get on with it as you were. That's not any form of therapy. Sounds like the session from ****. I hope you are doing okay on the pain stuff now. It's been a while and I can empathise on the time taken as I feel exactly the same way and I am not in the same pain frame as you.
I hope you have sorted the railing now. Would it be possible to put another thinner rounder railing on top of the drink railing and glue and screw to the steps side of the drink rail. You'll never get a drink to stand up on that anyway - I know cause I have tried

I know exactly what you are talking about here.
Your Italian dinner sounded good. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately I don't have my appetite back yet. But since the internal systems are beginning to resume normal operations, I think that will come soon. Were you Pepe le Pewwwwwwww?
Laura - I don't think I will ever get over that prep stuff. I spent a fair amount of time leaning over the kitchen sink with a badly extended stomach trying not to be sick and knowing that if I was I would probably have to do the whole thing over so I was NOT going there.
Glad to read that you have done your civic duty and voted. I am so over your elections over there. Why the heck does it have to take so long. Ours are all over in 6 weeks, change of government takes one week and then life just carries on. I don't envy any of you making a decision here - either the class clown (and a scary one at that) or the lady in a jacket with the supercilious smile and the smug hand gestures. I give no preferences for either. If I had a choice I would ask the Obamas to stay on based on a monthly contract until such time as you can find someone with decency and honesty and put them in the white house. At least with the Obama's there isn't a trail of scandal or a whiff of corruption, or mega mania reigning supreme. I should stop there it isn't my country and my input is beyond the bounds of friendship.
Is the mattress looking good in it's new home?
Hello Carol Sue. Feel free to drop in at any time
Ceejay - must be a bit of a pain getting in to the house and trying to get settled and then getting chucked out again for renovations. But it won't be long before you are permanently there and away from the family squabbles. It's tough living with family again after you have been on your own for a long time.
Hope you and your sister enjoy your buddyship in weight loss. Have fun.
I think I am now sort of up to date. I really need to get off here and go tidy up, dust and clean my room and start on the third bedroom. ODDU is asleep in the bathroom. It is quiet around here at the moment. I will go down to the garden shop shortly and pick up some more Echinacea plants. They were in the nursery hospital yesterday and I got three, I might need some more to fill in the area I am intending them to go. Garden is growing quite nicely now.
So be good or be careful
