Good Afternoon! It's another beautiful day in my corner of the world. When the sun moves around in the afternoon, it warms up even more with the two sliding glass doors. The air just came on so our bedroom, on the west side, will be cooler tonight. It's been a putzing kind of day for me. I am embarrassed to say I have three grocery bags full of newspapers, catalogs, and outdated magazines. I don't know why I just don't pitch the catalogs when they come, but I do like to look at them if I have a few minutes before I need to do something else. Keeps me from mindless eating.

My stomach is telling me it's supper time. We had leftovers for lunch so need to come up with something more exciting tonight. Enjoy your evening and have a super Sunday tomorrow. We are going to church and then off to horse camp to watch Zowie ride "her" horse.

Good morning, ladies! Another hot and humid day on tap in the high 90s. We've had nearly 3 inches of rain already this month

I have been having more breathing problems, not too bad, with this weather. I know the Dominion bill is going to be huge this month. I've been going to the Y and then quilting or reading the rest of the day. The young man next door came over and asked if he could continue their rock border around my flower beds and said he will take care of my flowers, too, since he knows I can't be out in this heat. He said he loves to garden. I told him he could do anything he wanted.

Donna, I'm sorry your arthritis is so bad. My arthritis pain is always worse when I don't exercise. It sounds like it isn't going t make much difference in your friend's husbands health if he quits now so he might as well enjoy it. I forget, are they replacing joints in Jack's hand?

Jean, I cringe when I hear of children playing football. Too many bad injuries. We have a lot of riding stables around here. It's nice for the kids.

Maggie, worrying about you. I hope everything is okay.

Have a wonderful day.

Good afternoon! We had commissary day today. It was just for a week though as our regular shopping will be next week.

Jack is watching the Cubs game and I have been busy this afternoon trying to get some things done. I rearranged my hanging bag that holds my necklaces and earrings. I now have 4 instead of just two so I separated them according to colors. This will make it easier for me to find the color I want to wear and see what colors I might need.

I also put the baby blanket on blocking squares to dry, folded two loads of clothes and have knitted the soles of both baby sandals. I am going to go back to them when I get finished here.

I have been buying this Outshine brand of fruit bars that are either 1 pt or no points per bar. I like variety and the commissary has a lot of flavors. Today they hadn't restocked so I didn't get but a couple boxes. I like the mango, peach, and raspberry best. I like the pineapple but I am slightly allergic so I don't eat them very often. The lemon is like eating frozen lemonade. They have veggie and fruit blends too. I have yet to try them.
They are sure nice in this hot weather.

Jean: I get all kinds of weird catalogues. Most of them I just pitch. I get some really wild clothing ones. I get tickled at some of the nuttier ones. You get on their mailing list and you can't get off. Is she riding dressage or rodeo style, or just riding a horse? I have been on my horse in my life and I fell off its behind and never again. I am not afraid of them and think their are beautiful animals, but I am never getting on one again.

Susan: I do what I can exercise wise. I can no longer do walking or treadmill stuff and I need to get into a water aerobics program frankly and I haven't done it. I am hoping my knee would hold up in the water, but it has gotten so bad I am not sure even with water it would be ok. I do setting stuff and some weights. Mainly, it is my hands and my right knee. A lot depends on the weather for me and we have had a lot of rainy days. They are going to replace the thumb joint. He is so very miserable, but there is nothing he can do until he goes in Friday and then gets all the FMLA paperwork approved. Like I said we figure another month. I think he is afraid he will develop the problem in his prominent hand, but I told him with as much as he uses it, ie using screw drivers, pliers and such at work besides him being right handed, if he hasn't already had problem, I doubt he will. He is getting close to 70 and still works full time in a job that requires using tools, climbing up and down ladders, stuff like that.

Everyone have a great start to your week. I am going hunting for a coral/peach nail polish. I have a couple orange colors, but want something specific.

Good Evening! It is very humid here and we are in a severe thunder storm watch right now, but the sun is shining. My church counting partner is gone this week so the pastor's wife helped me count this afternoon. She thought we balanced and left; when I did my part I didn't match her figures. I checked and double checked my figures, then I finally gave up, left everything in the locked file, and came home. We had a 50% off sale in the gift shop so that was a little chaotic when I stopped to pick up the money. There was a finance charge bill waiting for me from a company that I don't like in the first place. The buyer said it was her fault because two invoices were stapled together. I checked through my checkbook and invoices when I got home, and I never got the *^%+# invoice in the first place! Another mess to straighten out tomorrow.

Susan, what is the Dominion bill? Hope your weather shapes up and you are breathing easier. What a nice neighbor to tend to your flowers and plants! I don't like football either, and say a silent prayer before each game for the kids' safety. If nothing else, Ian is like Jason was, and one of the bigger kids. Jason is very particular about checking his helmet to be sure it fits the way it is supposed to. Zowie has asked for a horse for her birthday and for Christmas, but so far no luck.

"Gma," I can't imagine the amount of jewelry you have! I get in a rut and wear the same two or three pair of earrings and call it good. I do wear my watch, wedding rings, and mother's ring every day. I've wanted to do something with the grandkids' birthstones but can't decide what. Ian's isn't very pretty, topaz, and Kolby's is a diamond, Zowie is Emerald, and Maddy is peridot -- not pretty combinations but the jeweler suggested something with a diamond between each birthstone. Are the fruit bars frozen or chewy bars? They sound good! I let myself talked into going on a horse trail ride when we were in Colorado with two other couples. Of course I get the biggest horse and stuck at the end of the line. The "boss" says not to let your horse stop and eat. My horse had a mind of his own and he was hungry; I vowed I would never get on another horse. I haven't either!

Bob says it is time to feed his face so guess that is my clue. Hope you enjoy a nice evening!

Good Afternoon! It's a beautiful day in my neighborhood. We had a lot of wind and a hard rain, 1 1/3" on our gauge, last night. There was some hail damage so Bob was busy taking claim reports this morning. Since I couldn't get my report to balance with the "official" figures at church, I went back by myself to wade through it again this morning. I ran tapes and had the secretary run the same which matched mine. But the cash didn't match the figures and I don't know how to fix it so the deposit will have to wait until next week when my counting partner gets back. I know it is an easy error to find but not for me.

I need to make a WM run and return a razor head for Bob. I thought I had the right one but didn't. Also need some orphan food. Hope you all are enjoying a nice day and evening.

Good Evening! The sun is shining, a breeze is blowing, humidity is climbing, and the air is on! Today was a couple loads of laundry first, then lunch bunch. I should have stopped at the gift shop to pick up invoices to pay but hadn't heard if the one I never received was found or not. Had a message when I got home and decided to just go there tomorrow to write the checks. The buyers are packing things to get ready for the move to the new shop which is supposed to be sometime in July. I plan to make myself scarce!

Bob just asked what is for supper; even though I'm not the least bit hungry guess I'd better think about something for him to eat. Life would be so much simpler if we didn't have to eat! Enjoy the rest of your day!

Good evening gals! I have been working on those #%*+ baby ballet shoes all day. I just put the first one down and it is about 1/3 way done. My hands are throbbing and shoulders and neck ache. I may not be able to even work on them tomorrow.

I have to get the downstairs cleaned tomorrow. Jack's hand was hurting so much he called in sick. His boss said he doesn't have to wait for FMLA paperwork so he wants first surgery date he can get. I never get anyrhing done when he's home.

Jean: I imagine Susan is referring to her utilities. Virginia is called Old Dominion so her electric company is probably that. Here is what the box for those bars looks like. They are like popsicles except all fruit and juice.

Hope you can get your count correct.

Everyone have a good evening!!

Hey everybody! Just finished cleaning the downstairs. I put a pork tenderloin in the crockpot and am making bbq for dinner.

I finished the nightmare little shoe. I still have one to go. I want to go to Joanns and see if I can find a tiny bow button to put on the front of each shoe to make them more girly. It took me about 2 hours to finish the shoe up.

I need to get upstairs and make the bed as I haven't even ventured up there this morning. I slept downstairs the last two nights as I felt like another cold was coming on, but I think it is just allergies. I sure hope I can sleep upstairs tonight.

Jack has his ortho appointment tomorrow and I sure hope they can get him in fairly soon. I think he has done more damage to it since he was in there a month ago. He grabs it and grimaces a lot. I feel so helpless as I can't make him feel any better.

I hope you all are having a great day. Gotta go get that bed made and check my pork.

Good Afternoon! It's been another beautiful day in my neighborhood. I had an eye appointment first thing this morning, picked up some cat food to mix with the diet food that took a big price jump, and stopped at the hospital to pay invoices. Jason was in the area working so called and said he was stopping here on his way home. I had chicken, baked potatoes, and scalloped corn in the oven for lunch so he was lucky. A neighbor just bought a fifth wheel camper and I happened to see her outside so asked for a tour. We worked together at the high school so we spent the afternoon sitting in the camper and visiting. Needless to say, I didn't get anything done in the house this afternoon, visiting was much more fun!

"Gma," I think we have something similar, if not the same, as your fruit treats. I gave up on the church money after spending the whole morning double and triple checking everything. It will get done on Monday with next weeks counting. I hope Jack can get a surgery date asap. Is it just normal "wear and tear" or did he injure it somehow? I'm glad you have one baby shoe done. Too bad you have to make another one but good the baby has two feet. Bar-b-q pork sounds good!

I think Bob is cooking tonight so not sure where we will go. He offered and I never turn that down! Hope you enjoy a nice evening!

Good morning ladies. It is overcast but it is cooler this morning. We are supposed to be 94 today though so it won't stay that way.

We came home yesterday to find two huge boxes with "heavy" stamped on them. They weren't ours. UPS just delivered them to us. What a dope! I guess he figured I got so much stuff it just had to be mine. The number wasn't even close. It was about 4 doors down. Jack walked down there but they weren't home. We figured they were at work. Jack couldn't carry them with his hand so we left a note on their back door to come get them and we left the gate locked. They came late afternoon and thanked us. Jack said he was sorry he couldn't take them down there but couldn't have carried them. The guy said it was ok he was just glad we kept them for them. I imagine some folks here would have just stolen the stuff, whatever was in them. I could have called UPS and made them come back, but then the people would have had to wait to get them so it was just easier this way.

I never got the pork finished so put it in the fridge with it's liquid and will fix it today. We went out for spaghetti instead. Jack had a hankering for Colettas, which is a family owned Italian place here. They have great spaghetti and these huge warm sour dough rolls and real butter.

Jack is still asleep upstairs and I am going to try and be quiet until he gets up. Though he will eventually get the surgery, his ortho doctor sent him to one of his partners who is a hand specialist to do it. Jack has an appointment with this guy on Tuesday morning. I don't know how much more he can take with his hand before he won't be able to even work. It is giving his so much pain. His doctor explained how they now do the surgery and it is pretty amazing. Instead of an artificial joint like they used to, they pack it with something that basically turns into scar tissue and somehow connect it to the index finger. Jack asked about movement and Dr. Manugian said that is provides excellent range of motion without pain.

Jean: Jack hurt it about 3 years ago, but nothing significant. The joint has just been deteriorating over time and it is kind of at crisis level now. Funny thing is his left hand shakes all the time and has since he was a kid. Looks like Parkinson's, but they can't figure out why. Be interesting to see if that quits or not. I finished up the other shoe and boy as cute as they are I am never ever making another pair. Her directions are pretty vague in areas and you have to figure out what you are supposed to do on your own. For one thing she does a seamless cast on, which means you cast on your stitches then you have to pick up and knit stitches from those stitches and it is pretty hard with thin yarn and size two double point needles. I just hope she likes them and doesn't think they look awful. I am kind of a perfectionist when I am giving to someone else and nothing ever looks right to me. I am going to try and find very thin ribbon and lace through and tie a bow at the back and find tiny heart buttons to put on the toe. We shall see how that goes. I found a box of pomegranate ones and a box of black cherry bars at Walmart yesterday so I now have a bunch of different flavors.

Everyone have a great Saturday. We are going out later and wash our dirty car and go to Joanns.

Good Afternoon! We are at the lake, the wind is blowing big time so I am sitting inside the cabin, toasty in my sweatshirt! It was 53 degrees when I got up this morning! We went to see the Music Man production last night; it was all local talent and very good. We came home about 10:30 to very loud music. At first we thought it was our party neighbors but it turned out to be a live band at the marina. We live just inside the city limits and the marina is just a hop, skip, and a jump beyond. Finally, at 11:00 Bob called the "comm" center and found out they had had numerous complaints. The city council issued the permit because the marina is run by the city. The county sheriff is in charge of the law enforcement because it is located in the county; deputies had been there to tell them to turn the music down. Finally, they quit about 12:30. I am calling the mayor and council members on Monday to voice my complaint! It was so loud we could feel the beat! I feel sorry for anyone with small children trying to get them to sleep.

"Gma," it was nice of you to contact your neighbors about their boxes being delivered to your house. I'm sure they were very appreciative. Another case of incompetency! I sure hope the new surgery method will be a solution for Jack. Being in constant pain is not fun.

Kids are asking for food so guess it must be lunch time. They ate breakfast late and so lunch is later today. Hope the sun is shining on all of you! Enjoy the rest of your day!

Good morning to you all. Going to be another hot day here today though it is comfortable this morning.

We have commissary this morning and I dread going through the front gate. They have a rent a cop and last week he stopped me going out of the gate and ask me if I knew the speed limit on the base. I started to tell him it is 35 but 15 near the barracks and before I got the sentence out he started in on I was speeding in the 15 area. I ask him how fast I was going (the idiot had his back to me when it was driving as he was checking ID's at the gate and there was no one else around.) He said he just knew I was speeding. I was irked but decided just to leave so apologized and left. He works the gate every weekend so I imagine he will be there this morning and I am likely to get a lecture since I have been driving Jack around. GRRRR I know I wasn't speeding because I had just asked Jack why the difference in the speed limit between the 35 and the 15. The barracks is just one block inside the gate.

Well, I am knitting another pair of the booties. I didn't like how they looked so am ignoring what she said and doing one of the procedures my own way so they look ok. I got home and found out the ribbon I bought was satin cord and it doesn't tie worth a darn so said to heck with it and went to Amazon and ordered what I wanted online along with hand sewing needles that have bigger eyes. I have the first shoe half done so am over the hardest part to knit.

Jean: Wow that is cold. I put up with music noise here too. Some idiot has his car speakers all the way up and parks in his garage with the door open to visit with friends. It shakes the condo and it is disgusting rap music to boot. Can't do anything about it during the day though. The cops won't do anything until after 10 PM and then rarely show up if you call. Hope you are having a nice time at the lake. My kids and the boys are in Colorado white water rafting and I am scared to death for the boys. I figure my kids get what they deserve doing it but the boys would find it exciting. I have heard to many tails of kids getting that flesh bacteria from being in rivers and that scares the heck out of me. What can I do? I am the stupid overreacting grandma, you know?

Well, everyone have a great day. Gonna knit a bit before I go up and shower for the day.

Good morning, ladies! Another hot humid day in the high 90s. I went out to water my flowers yesterday evening and just that little time had me huffing and puffing and looking for my rescue inhaler.

Other than going to the Y and staying inside, I haven't done a darn thing. I need to go get cat food and a few groceries today but am not looking forward to it. I made some dill pickles from a recipe my yoga teacher gave me. They came out pretty good. No cooking involved so very easy.

Faye, it sounds like Jack's surgery is similar to what my friend has had on both her thumbs. She is using them just fine now and says she has no pain. I hope they can do his soon. You always make the cutest baby items.

Jean, 53 sounds heavenly. I complain about the cold, I complain about the heat, I'm only happy Spring and Fall,.

I wish Maggie would post.

Have a wonderful day!

Good Afternoon! The sun is shining and NO wind today, which is a pleasant change from the windy day yesterday. We got an inch of rain and lots of lightning during the night. Quite a few at church this morning, it was so dark outside it seemed like we were going at night. The wind yesterday made me tired today I think. I've scooped litter boxes and have a load of clothes in the washer. We had carry out chicken dinners for lunch. Talk about being lazy! I did finish cleaning my oven racks this morning!

Another police officer ambush today. How awful, and for what purpose!? The scary thing is it could happen anywhere. I certainly wouldn't blame officers for turning in their badges and saying, "I quit!" The world seems to be changing, and not for the better.

"Gma," it's really hard to drive 15mph! Going into town the speed limit is 30 mph; there is an incline to go over railroad tracks and right on the other side, going down is 20 mph. How dumb is that? The police like to sit in a parking lot, beside a small building and run their radar aimed at the tracks. They catch a lot of out of town people, but I make sure I hit 20 even if I have to put my brakes on. I'm sure the booties will be cute! White water rafting wouldn't be my idea of fun; I hope the CO rivers aren't high like they are around here. I'm a worrying Grandma right along with you! The Sturgis, SD, motorcycle fiasco will soon be here; Jason and Amanda will be going again this year. There have been several fatal accidents around here this summer and I just hate them riding anywhere. Of course I get the "we are very careful and defensive riders" lecture.

Susan, I will send some cooler weather your way! How many jars of pickles does your recipe make? I've never made pickles but wouldn't mind trying. How is the new WW job going?

I need to get clothes in the dryer so better keep moving. A nap sounds really inviting. Hope you all are having a nice Sunday!
