What a wonderful Mother's day I had. Kiddos, spouses and gbabes all came over around 10:30 am and brought breakfast. DIL made a french toast bake and cherry delight. Sis made cinnamon rolls and fresh cut up fruit. Coffee, juice and milk. I received some very nice cards and gifts. Surprised to say the least. A dozen roses, beautiful 8x10 pic frame, butterfly candle holder that holds tiny candles sis brought, lovely cards that made me cry, starbucks gift card, then C gave me a very nice card and a huge Philodendron plant. Yes, spoiled, made my MD much better and for a while did not miss my momma quite so much. I seriously think I need counseling (ok you all can jump in here now as I know you have been waiting for me to open this door) about pain, loss and my stinking emotions.
Saturday was baseball game, hilarious. One little boy on the other team got ready to bat and his dad yells out there, be a dinosaur, he made a growl face and heck if he did get a hit. I about fell out laughing, it was priceless, too bad dad didn't get a pic of that. They don't keep score, as once 5 batters hit and run, they all run home and that is the end of the inning. Jacob actually stopped a ball when he was playing first base. Every outfield inning the kids switch up as to where they play. It is kind of like organizing the disorganized. After the game, Chris took the boys, Sam and I went for our pedicures. It was nice, we then had lunch at the Olive Garden. Soup and salad does it for me, I leave alone the breadsticks. Grocery then home to do laundry and put groceries away.
Great weekend!!
SHADDIE...well I guess ODDU gave you your workout for the day with all that chasing you did. Priceless...you running down the road in your night clothes and slippers, dang where is my drone when I need one. lol. Good luck on the new assignment, hope it is worth the $$$.
SUSIE...I am in your corner when it comes to employees going to competitors, I have had to cycle out 3 since I have been at WF. Even worse on-boarding the newbies. Hugs. Good job on the WL. I am so proud of you. Keep on keepin on!
CEEG...I won't beat you up over eating the wrong things, however I will bop you with MELLIE's rolling pin. lol
Shad – That was quite the adventure chasing after ODDU the other day - twice! Well, you get a break now from dog duty. Your son and his partner will soon learn how much they have come to rely on you for dog care and so many other things! I hope you can find less expensive digs in Sydney.
Ceejay – Yeh, sounds like there might be a bit of jealousy on your bff’s part re your asking your sister to help you with that surgery. Re your cougar friend – I agree hotel living would get very tiresome. Did she know what she was in for when she married this guy? Oh gosh, sorry you had that diverticulosis flare up on you, but in my world popcorn and brownies would be awfully hard to give up! I’d say those are definitely in my top 10 of sweets/snacks. Re craigslist – yes, these last few things I've purchased I came across very easily & quickly – didn’t have to search for weeks on end. Good job on the exercise bike! Great that your uncle's on email - I wish my mom was…
Susie – What a lot of drama last week at work! And what a lot of extra work for you! I guess all you can do now is hope they find a replacement soon…and enjoy the OT pay. Great job on the weight loss last month, and with the exercise as well. Keep up the good work! I’m glad you enjoyed the concert. I’m looking forward to seeing some bands at the outdoor summer festivals. Re FSA - I’m glad to be out of that now for the reason you said – making sure you use up the entire amount. Still adjusting to having the HSA though. With my HSA, I didn’t realize that claims would be coming from my insurance company through the HSA. I was accustomed to getting all my bills directly from my provider. Knowing my new night guard would not be covered by my dental or medical insurance, I was waiting for my dentist to bill my, but I received nothing. Recently I looked at my HSA account online and saw a claim for the night guard. I guess I'll deposit the money in there and get that paid.
Annie – Sounds like you had a very nice Mother’s Day. The baseball games have to be very entertaining for you! Okay Annie, yes, I bet some counseling would do you good, but then again, I think everyone could benefit from some counseling!!
Congrats to Michelle for finishing that half marathon. I hope you’re not in too much pain today!!
Happy – Have a safe trip back home today.

It was a lovely weekend here. Friday got up to 80 and when I left the office that day, it just felt like summer. Saturday was quite a bit cooler than Friday and breezy, but still nice and sunny. Yesterday was just about perfect.
Late in the afternoon Friday I left work a bit early and picked up my Body Bar. I walked about a mile from my building (in the opposite direction of the train station) to the seller’s condo. This woman was selling it because she’d used it for PT after shoulder surgery and didn’t need it anymore. I took the bus with the bar to within about a half mile of the train station. I decided to walk the rest of the way instead of waiting for the bus. Guess I was a bit nuts - that 12-pound bar got pretty heavy during that walk, and it was rather warm out too, so I was working up a sweat. I was glad to get on the train and sit after that. Bf picked me up from the train. I took a much-needed shower when I got home! At least I got my exercise!
Saturday morning the toilet in the full bath - which had not been flushing like it should for a while - got completely clogged and wouldn’t flush. I tried the plunger and then the closet auger. No dice, just a lot of sweat on my part. Watched a couple youtube videos to make sure I was doing it right. Yup. Decided our auger was low quality and went to the home improvement store for a better one. Turns out ours was a $9 one (heck, what did I know about quality augers when I bought it back when we first moved into the house?). I bought a better one for $34. When I returned home with it, bf had some words for me about the fact that after he’d tried to clear the partial clog, he’d told me we should have a plumber rod the pipe. I didn’t recall rejecting the idea outright, but he never did act on it. At some point after all the yelling stopped, he decided to try the better auger. He was very pleased with himself when it actually worked. I was glad not to have to pay a plumber to do the same thing we could do ourselves.
After that I went to pick up the “tool tower” I found on craigslist. Then it was a couple loads of laundry, some puttering around the house, and a dog walk. It was not the most productive day, but starting it off with a clogged toilet and then an argument was not the most positive thing for my mood.
Sunday I tidied up in the kitchen and dining room and read the paper for a bit. Before getting in the shower, I hosed off the tool tower as it had some dust and cobwebs on it. We met bf’s mom, aunt, and his brother and his brother’s family for lunch for Mother’s Day. We had a nice time.
We drove bf’s mom and aunt home (bf's bro had picked them up), and when we got home, I took doggy for a walk. I sat out in the yard when I phoned my mother. What a nice day it was to be outside! Re my mom - I may have been too optimistic about the effects of bf's pep talk with my mom about getting ready to move - she still has doubts about the realtor. Sigh. I will, however, get going on getting flight reservations to visit her in June.
Finally I get in today. This sight is getting on my nerves today. I hope they were updating.
Not much going on today.
I didn't get in the full 15 minutes last night as I ran out of time. It was 9 p.m. when I finally got on the bike. I did get in 12 minutes so I'm not going to fuss at that.
I called the gynecologist office today to speak to the girl that schedules the surgery but she wasn't in today. I will call her back tomorrow as time is running out for my sister to get time off to come down here. I just don't trust my bff to be well enough to handle this.
Annie
So happy that you had a good Mother's Day. And thanks for not yelling. One bag of popcorn usually doesn't bother me, but since I was hormonal so I ate the second bag and that set it off, plus a binge on brownies. Oh they were good.
Laura
You were brave to carry a 12 pound body bar home with you. And yea for getting the right tool for plumbing purposes. I bought a small "snake" but should have gotten a bigger one. But I do have the land lord so I didn't buy the more expensive one. I was hoping I could do the job myself. I love the temperatures when they are in the 70-80 range. I should have gotten out side also. I will this week end if it isn't raining. Think my "cougar" bff didn't really realize what time her dh would spend in his work which is construction. And she is like myself very easily bored.
Susie
I do wear the fitbit on my shoe lace. Glad you enjoyed the concert with Vince Gill. I hope you can keep your work load at a minimum this week.
Another dreary rainy day here in Indy. Just about over this crap. Can't even get my garden in due to the rain and soggy ground. Guess it is going to be another bummer on the garden season this year. Of the next 15 days on the weather site, 11 of them contain rain. Bleh. Oh whoa is Indy and me. lol.
CEEG....hope you get your surgery scheduled soon and over with. I have had two D&Cs in my lifetime, both after miscarriages. The third miscarriage did not require to have one since it was so early on.
LAURA...Gez wonder woman, carrying that bar all the way home. It is a wonder your arms don't hurt from carrying it. Glad you got your toitie fixed.
Hello to all, I am not in the best mood so I will post and pray for a better attitude. Hugs
Morning all. Rainy here, but at least it's a bit warmer than yesterday.
Ceejay – Yeh, I wouldn’t be spending a lot of money on tools if I had a landlord that takes care of repairs. Re the exercise – something is better than nothing! Keep going.
Annie – Yeh, it’s such a letdown to get this crummy chilly (yesterday) and/or rainy (today) weather after a few beautiful days. Bleh. Hope the forecast changes and it’s not as much rain!!! My mom keeps asking me if I’ve got my veg garden going yet and I have to keep saying no because the weather just doesn’t seem consistently warm enough. I’m sure I could put a plant in the ground, but without sun and warmth, it’s not gonna do well. I do, however, want to get some herbs planted in some pots. I can bring them in the house if need be. Re the weighted bar – funny I wasn’t sore after carrying that, but my right forearm was sore yesterday because I was hosing down my tool rack on Sunday and I was holding down the trigger of the nozzle while I sprayed. Of course I forgot that this nozzle actually has a locking thingy on it.
Hellos to the rest of you!

Nothing much to report. I got the state’s license plate sticker renewed for the SUV yesterday. About a week late because the state stopped sending reminder cards in the mail in order to save money because the state is so broke.
We’ve been looking on and off for my bike computer for a while now and yesterday I finally found it. It was by bf’s pile of junk on the counter. Of course he didn’t know why it was there. Maybe I was stupid to give it to him to store along with his bike computer. Good thing I’m not all that gung ho about how fast or how far I ride and could do without the computer altogether. That is, if I ever get out on a nice bike trail this year…
That’s about it for me. Bf's got his class tonight, and I might go out and do some grocery shopping. We haven’t shopped in forever.
Hi,
Made Sydney. got to my bed for the night and got to work yesterday. Miracles happen.
Now in my home away from home for the duration. It's nice enough but bloody expensive. Will have to stick it out for the 3 weeks left on this contract so I can get living away from home allowance if they decide to extend, which I think they will since training people are not easy to get right now. Last night I wandered up and down the street to get some food and stuff. Will have to go the other way tonight because the grocery shop between here and work is awful. Got to find another one. There is however a Spanish deli and tapa restaurant down there, what a treat!
So I go off to work again. It's a good 10 minute walk to work so I will get my steps in this week. My feet are protesting about the shoes. Not used to those after nearly five months of not wearing them or only wearing runners.
I'll try for some photos tonight to show you my new place and surrounds.
Shad – You should carry your work shoes in a bag and wear some comfy sneakers for your walk to the office.
Ceej – Glad you’ve got your procedure scheduled. Get it done with!
Hellos to the rest of you!!

Nothing much to report. I didn’t really do a good grocery shop last night, just hopped over to Walmart and bought a few things, including a bunch of frozen entrees so at least there’s something to eat. Tonight bf will be home and we can put together a list. I took some shredded chicken from the freezer to thaw and maybe tonight we’ll have soft chicken tacos for dinner. I bought tortillas, but we need some cilantro, and maybe some black beans.
I watched the 6th episode of Mercy Street (the PBS Civil War series about a Union hospital in Alexandria, VA). That’s the last of the season, now to wait for the next.
I’ve been tracking my eating in MFP, but the calories are way to high. Need to cut back.
morning
told my boss this morning about the surgery schedule. And text my co-worker about her working schedule. It's going to be cutting it close for a 2 week notice. but you know certain things have to be done.
I was going to hand in my resignation on the 31st but this has changed my plans. It's a little early for it anyway. So maybe in June which will be closer.
________
Laura
I'm getting to the point where I buy enough groceries for my work week and the for my days off. This way I am not as wasteful.
Annie
Ugh report days. At least in June I will not be responsible for it.
Shad

Hi Ladies,
Sorry I did not report in sooner. Got in just fine on Monday. Uneventful flight as I hoped. DH was a few minutes late picking me up - he could not remember if my flight was at 1:04 or 2:04. (It was 2:04 and I had a BIG AND COLORFUL copy of my itinerary posted on the front of the refrigerator right at eye level - his not mine - but still he said he didn't see it). The rains had left Chicago early so while it was a bit bumpy for a while, once we got above the clouds - not so bad. The plane was packed as it was on both sides of the trip but luckily no screaming babies so it's all good. I was just sitting down to post yesterday when DH said he had a bunch of things planned for the day including errands and a drive. I was going to protest that I had things to do but some of those errands involved me and he was trying to surprise me with a drive so fortunately I put the filters on before I said anything. We were gone all day and got home in the late evening so no post. Had a nice day together. We are having issues getting an electrician to move circuits and set up for the new hot tub. We had to have the 3 season room guy nudge his buddy an electrician. I swear it's so HARD to get anyone to work around here. Today I had a busy day - quick coffee and over to the thrift shop for our monthly meeting. We hardly get anyone to show up any more. I swear I was dreading going in myself. I am so over the drama. Sure enough, one of the most vocal ones was complaining because someone had the AUDACITY ( ie. unmitigated GALL to sign up to work with her on Memorial Day). Can you imagine??? I DON'T NEED A HELPER!!!! It just really set the tone badly. And there is no support from those in charge to get her to SHUT UP and behave like her age instead of her shoe size. And after she and her partner (yes, the coven is reconvened as the troublemaker has returned from her winter fancy pants home down south... ) started complaining about how they would not follow the rules, they started berating another volunteer for not following the rules. I did not miss this, I kid you not. I also had yoga today - a good session and picked up sandwiches for dinner because I need groceries and don't feel like going to the store.
I had a great visit with my family. Each time I see my Mom she seems a bit more frail but she still had her feisty on. We got her some Grumpy Cat stickers, pens and buttons and she was over the moon. I also got her a book by her favorite author, some candy from up north and we bought her a new pair of sneakers she wanted. She was delighted with the attention and yes, she wore that pink net scarf I got from the thrift shop proudly - said it matches the piping on her gray jacket. It was a nice Mum's day and my sister and I played the "let's get mom riled so she slaps us" and we both got alot of good laughs.
Ceejay - so your plans are to retire shortly after your return from surgery? And you are NOT resigning - you are RETIRING - make sure you word your letter appropriately. Just saying... That will give you some time to get used to being at home and going stir crazy while you recover But it will be nice when you get used to it, I promise.
Laura - we made soft chicken tacos in the crockpot and they came out fantastic. Finished them with a light honey lime flavored dressing and yum yum. I really wanted to see that program Mercy Street - it came on after Downton Abbey and I kept forgetting to tape it. PBS generally does not do reruns or on demand. Was it good?
Annie - I am sorry you are feeling blah. I hope the sun comes out so it can cheer you up. You are a big nutter - I loved my surprise. Thank you
Shad - I guess I must have read fast or missed something. I thought this job was not going to work out and yet, there you are in the big expensive city again. I wish you could retire too. There comes a time when you can't drum up any more enthusiasm... Hope you get settled in before your wallet gets emptied. I agree with carrying comfy shoes with you to walk in. How quickly we get out of sync.
DH just asked about supper so I'm going to pause this and come back tonight.
Yet another rainy blah day, over it. Funny how we let stuff set our mood. The weather and especially the # on the bathroom scale. Altho the scale has been kind to me in registering staying the same, I would like for it to move on down.
Sis colored my hair after work yesterday. I stopped and got Chinese on the way home from work. Me-hot and sour soup and vegetable mei fun<--very skinny rice noodles. It was kind of salty so probably not as healthy as it could of been. C wanted crab rangoon and pork fried rice. We both have enough left over for tonights dinner which is good as I have a "meeting/workshop".
HAPPY...so glad you made it back safely. Couldn't wait to hear about your trip and momma visit. You and sis are just plain ornery when you are together getting momma riled up. I love it. I am glad you liked your surprise, I try to pay attention to everyone's posts. lol. Blonde brain scatter. Yes I have BBS. bahaha.
CEEG...glad the boss is on board with your surgery schedule, but really what could he say? NUTTIN' Co-worker will have to deal with it. Like HAPPY said, be sure to put RETIREMENT and NOT RESIGNING in your letter.
That is all I can remember from the prior page so I will have to post as is.
Hopefully each day will get sunnier and better. One day at a time as they say. Will try to post a "FAT" pic of me with my brothers here in a bit.
Morning all. My rubber boots were squishing in the yard this morning – wow, what a lot of rain we’ve gotten. And it’s humid and jungle-like today. Ugh. Enough already!!
Ceejay – How far in advance do you have to formally give notice of your retirement? You’re still planning on end of August, right? How many days do you expect to be off work for your surgery? I can see with a small staff, it helps to have advance notice of time off so as to have time to shuffle the schedules.
Annie – Yeh, our license plate stickers are more than I want to pay, especially when we have to have one for the state and then the village sticker as well. But I understand in Indiana that your registration fee is based on the age and/or value of the car, so a newer/expensive one has a high fee? With Illinois, I pretty much hate paying any tax or fee that goes to the state because so much of it just goes to waste and corruption. Our village is another matter – bf is always noting the new/fancy fleet of vehicles our police department has. --- That’s a nice photo with you and your brothers.
Happy – Welcome back! Were the kitties happy to see you?? Glad you had an uneventful flight back home. And it sounds like you had a pleasant visit with the family. Too funny about you and your sis getting momma all riled up, just because. Okay, is a net scarf one of those light transparent scarves from way back when that women would wear over their freshly coiffed bouffant hairdos? Sorry the behavior of the thrift shop volunteers is so unpleasant. I can see you losing your enthusiasm for the shop when you’ve got those people creating a bad atmosphere. I enjoyed the PBS show Mercy Street. There’s a fair amount of medical gore, however, which I imagine is very realistic given the primitive nature of medicine back then, along with less than ideal conditions in military hospitals at that time. As usual with these types of historical dramas, I find I’m learning a lot. Not that I knew much about the Civil War to begin with...
Hellos to the rest of you.

Nothing much to report. I worked out this morning. I have an offsite event to attend this afternoon that I’m not thrilled about. I'll likely leave right after the presentation and skip the cocktail reception. I have to get back home anyway because bf has class tonight and I have to feed doggy.
My new earbuds were delivered earlier this week and I’m happy to have them. So far, so good. I also have a new cell phone cover. It fits fine, but the design isn’t as bright as I’d hoped. Bf applied one of the new skins to the screen of my cell phone and I think I like it better than the old one – it feels slicker and easier to swipe and has good clarity. I’ll give it some time to see how durable it is…
That’s about it for me. Everyone have a great day.
Happy
Thanks for that tidbit of information. Glad you had a good time with mom and sis. It's unfortunate that I will have to turn in my letter of retirement soon. but a couple of weeks later will not be to bad. The want retiree's after age 62 to give a full three months. Man this is creeping up on me fast.
----
We've had a good rain with a bit of thunder this morning. I'm not in the mood to clean but suppose I better get on with my day
