Good morning to you all. Rain has moved through but it is going to be a bit cooler for a few days then back into the 80's. I like the cooler mornings as I can open the door to the deck and let in the fresh air. It won't be long until it will be too hot even in early morning to do that.

I am going to do some vacuuming today and that's about it I guess. I am in the middle of a series book and will probably finish it up today. I haven't gone back to working on my afghan and really should work on it. This weather has my hands aching and my knees have been killing me, especially the bad one. I hate taking meds for it so I have just been putting some heat on it.

I took out a pot roast and will stick it in the crockpot with carrots and potatoes for dinner tonight. We enjoyed the spaghetti but the clean up is awful. The sauce no matter how low you put it pops onto the stove, countertops, etc. One reason I rarely fix it and we eat it at a restaurant instead.

Jean: Hope it is starting to warm up in your part of the world. I like "Paint Your Wagon" too. Just something about Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood singing. I am a big fan of old movies and older movies. I love Doris Day films and The Thin Man series. I think because I like the clothing. I was born in the wrong era. I love the clothes of the 40's and the adult clothes of the early 60's. Unfortunately back then you had to be really thin to wear clothing like that. They dressed Myrna Loy so lovely in those films. We have tons of dvds here to watch and rarely do. I tend to watch stuff on tv if it is something I want to see. Jack is a big John Wayne fan.

You all have a nice day. I am going to go get some breakfast then get showered and dressed.

Good Afternoon! The sun is shining again today but it is windy and "cold." The church computer is still not fixed, and will probably end up replacing instead of fixing. So we counted, the money is in the bank but my part isn't done. I guess all the names, addresses, phone numbers, and emails have to be re-entered individually. I'm not sure about the donations but know they couldn't pay bills last week. Like I said before, I'm just thankful I didn't do it. We have a soccer game for Kolby this afternoon. Maddy was supposed to play too, but several on her team are in band. The 6th graders are meeting with 5th graders and their parents to share some music and explain the band program. If she didn't participate, she wouldn't get to go on the amusement park trip. I don't know if they forfeit the game or will make it up.

"Gma," I bake my spaghetti in a casserole because otherwise I end up wearing the sauce down the front of me. The church youth group puts on a spaghetti dinner every year; I've been known to tuck a napkin in my collar. We haven't had that for awhile - sounds good. Today feels like an afghan kind of day! The sun has disappeared.

I need to change clothes and get ready to leave when Bob is. I don't want to get left behind! Hope you all enjoy the rest of a terrific Tuesday!

Good morning to you all. Still cool today and looks like rain they said we weren't going to get but now looks like 60% chance. I have to run to WM today and get more milk and bread and some cleaning stuff the commissary didn't have so I hope no rain until I get home.

I have a killer sinus headache this morning and my darn knees are still hurting I guess because of the rain coming in again. I have been limping around for a solid week. I told Jack last night if it doesn't get better soon I am going to have to unfold the walker and use it because it is hard for me to walk even in the house.

I bought a new case for my Ipad on April 24 and have had the worst time getting them to ship it. They had some kind of printing problem on the 28th but the website day to day said it was shipping but it never did. I chatted online with people twice and the gal yesterday assured me it would ship yesterday. It finally did. They had no problem taking my money way back on the 24th though as it zipped through my bank in one day. The case is personalized with my name and is the reason for the hold up.

We definitely close on Friday so will be glad to be done with that mess. What a total headache! We are now having trouble finding out the time. Sheesh wish people would just do their jobs and get back to you when you try and contact them about something.

Jean: What a mess for all of you at the church. I wonder if these things with the school are planned or not as it seems they wouldn't have two things at the same time when the whole team pretty much can't be in two places. Who knows. Hope Kolby's game went well. It is 51 here this morning and going to get around 75 but not until late afternoon.

Everyone have a great middle of the week.

Good Morning! It's a beautiful day in my neighborhood; 55 degrees, sunny, and NO wind! I've been catching up on dusting places the sun is showing as needing attention. I've been seriously thinking about having our furnace vents professionally cleaned. It seems like the dust multiplies overnight. I need to go to WM for some orphan food which I didn't realize was almost gone. Two trips there in one week. Kolby's team won their game last night, and I found out he is the only 4th grader on the team. He had several good plays and made one of the points. Maddy didn't end up having the band thing, talk about mass confusion. Only the 7th and 8th graders were supposed to go but the 6th graders also got the information sent home. The soccer schedule was changed and for some unknown reason her game was rescheduled from last night. The coaches and parents keep in touch through their smart phones, crazy!

"Gma," the soccer teams are city sponsored, not school. Like I told Beth though, the school calendars are set before the school year starts so "someone" should be smart enough to be aware when scheduling games. Because the kids are playing on temporary fields, and the area isn't as large, the scheduling has been challenging I'm sure. Hope your headache is gone, I hate those sinus headaches! It sounds like our rainy days found you.

Maggie, Susan, and Gail, what are you up to today?

I have strawberries to clean for lunch so better keep moving. Hope you all enjoy your wonderful Wednesday!

Good morning to you all. Supposed to be absolutely beautiful for the next 4 days then rain again on Monday. I am glad the guys won't be delivering the bed in the rain for sure. They should be calling today to set up a time to bring it on Saturday.

I am going to go upstairs this morning and dust and put the new pillows upstairs in the spare bedroom. I told Jack I would try and make the appointment for the bed for the afternoon on Saturday. That way we could take apart our bed, strip it, take apart the frame and store it and vacuum under the space where the new bed will go on Saturday morning rather than do it on Friday and Jack have to sleep on the mattress and box springs on the floor.

I now have the hotel booked for our ballgame trip to Atlanta next month. I sure hope the weather will be good because we can't travel back to a makeup game. It is going to be a quick weekend trip. Atlanta is about 6 hours from here but a bit too far to try and do it in one day.

Jean: Boy, the whole thing with Maddy was screwed up wasn't it? Glad Kolby won his game and had a big contribution. I don't know if Jackson is playing soccer this year or not. He's a year behind Kolby in age and grade. He turns 9 next month. Guess I need to contact his parents and find out what he wants for his birthday. Yum strawberries! I can't wait until the good produce starts coming out. I hate the crap you get in the winter months especially tomatoes. I like to just slice tomatoes and eat them with a bit of salt, but not in the winter. Oh, let me know if you would like this recipe and I will email it to you. It is a recipe for crockpot cinnamon rolls.

Everyone have a great day. Jack's last day this week so hope it goes fast for him. Time to get some breakfast

Good Afternoon! We've had another day of sunshine, NO wind, and 73 degrees this afternoon! I picked up orphan food at WM this morning, stopped at Walgreens for an allergy prescription, vacuumed fur, and addressed birthday cards for church. I sat down to look at the mail, and now I'm thinking I should get up and do something constructive. On the other hand, maybe not! Bob will be home for supper soon; maybe it's his night to cook.

"Gma," our bed sits on the waterbed drawers that we've had for years. I'm sure there is no hope for the carpet underneath! A new bed is exciting! If the crockpot cinnamon rolls are easy, I would loved the recipe please. I just read a 90 minute bread recipe on FB, and my first thought was it would most likely be several hours for me to make! Our strawberries have been huge, but good for the most part. I buy an angel food loaf cake, from the store bakery, to have with them. Bob likes ice cream with his, sometimes I do and sometimes not. Is Jack on vacation or is there a holiday down there?

The food network is on tv and it's making me hungry! Bob just got home so will check with him for supper ideas. Enjoy the rest of this terrific Thursday!

Good Morning! I know I posted yesterday! I wonder where it went? It's another sunny, breezy day, and heading to 85 degrees this afternoon. This morning I finished vacuuming and could go back to where I started yesterday and start over. The sliding doors are open and several neighbors are mowing. After lunch I'm going to tackle a pile of clothes I've been moving from spot to spot -- get ready Good Will, SOS Store, and church rummage sale! I have a friend who just moved after living in the same house for 30+ years and she said she kicked herself more than once for not keeping up with getting rid of things that they no longer wear, use, or liked.

"Gma," as I said yesterday, our bed sits on the waterbed drawers that were the rage years ago. I'm sure there is no hope for that carpet underneath. I just read a tip on buying a new spring and mattress set and that the life is 8 - 10 years. I would hate to guess how old our set is. Our strawberries have been huge and pretty good for the most part. The produce guy said smaller ones should be coming soon. I would like your cinnamon roll recipe please. I offered the kids a night at the water park resort the weekend we go to the 99th birthday party for Bob's aunt. Bob sings that Sunday so am thinking an easy brunch type meal before they head home. We will "celebrate" Kolby and Zowie's birthdays at the same time. It's good they are old enough to understand schedule conflicts with soccer games and practices.

Bob is going to grill steaks this noon, so I have baked potatoes and scalloped corn in the oven. Hope to see you all some time today. Have a great day and enjoy!

I lost my whole post just now. It said I wasn't logged in then dumped the whole thing. Beautiful warm and sunny day today. I have laundry in the dryer and am washing the bed sheets so I can box them up with comforter and take to Goodwill. We will have to paint down the road as the room is burgundy and gray and my new bedding is peach, gray and taupe but no one goes up there so it can wait. I'm going to leave the gray trim and paint the walls peach.

The closing is done as of yesterday thank goodness. We went out to celebrate at PF Changs but found we weren't hungry and brought most of it home.

Tomorrow is commissary day. I hope the bed guys come soon so we can put everything back and not have to mess with it tomorrow. We need to get the car cleaned out and washed and vacuumed tomorrow. I am going to go out next week and get my nails done and pick up stuff from WM that the commissary doesn't have.

Jean: Let me know if you make those rolls and how you like them. I want to get strawberries tomorrow and hope they're good. Maybe your weather has stabilized some now. We seem to be really starting to heat up, but it's been nice having lower utility bills for the last 3 months. 😊

Everyone have a nice Saturday. 👋 to Maggie and Susan

Happy Mother's Day to you all! I hope you all have a lovely day today.!

It is beautiful and warm and sunny today. Just a gorgeous day. We are heading out in a couple hours to go commissary shopping, back home and unload and put away then out to get the car washed and lunch. We will come back and watch the Cubs game.

I slept my first night in a bed in 9 years last night. It will take some adjusting of the chambers to get my side the most comfortable for me, but I was able to stay in the bed all night. The incline on the bed for my upper body has been great and Jack says it doesn't bother him at all. I think it will be well worth the money.

I have a ton of stuff coming in this week. I bought two pairs of sandals and another capri set for the summer. I went ahead and ordered two more sets of the commercial shelving units with the casters since they were on sale and the in store didn't have them. They ship them to the house for free so can't complain about that. Jack just hast to haul them into the house and set them up. I also ordered two sets of surge protector extension cords, one for the bed upstairs with the air conditioner and one for down here for my Ipad and phone and such. I am keeping FEDEX and UPS busy this week.

I got the graduation announcement yesterday for my brother's oldest daughter's college graduation. I am so proud of her. She has cerebral palsy but has never let it hold her back from anything she wants to do. I will get her a card and send her a gift. I have to get a birthday card for my bff too as her birthday is the 16th.

Well gals, I am going to get dressed and read until we have to go. You all have a wonderful day today.

Good Afternoon! We got up to thunder, lightning, and rain drops but the sun came out mid morning. It's been breezy but nice enough to have the sliding doors open. Beth and her family came bringing brats, buns, and cake for lunch. My contribution was baked beans, chips, carrots, dip, and ice cream. Zowie had soccer games today so they were staying home. She played three games yesterday; we made it to one which her team won.

"Gma," Happy Mother's Day to you too. If I make the rolls, it won't be until the 21st weekend. Right now my stomach isn't much liking the brat (?) I had for lunch so nothing sounds too appetizing. Know you both are relieved to have the closing finished. I'm glad you like your new bed! Is it one that each of you can raise the head or foot for your personal liking? You will keep the delivery guys hopping this week!

I have laundry in the washer which should be done. Tomorrow is counting at church but haven't heard if the computer program is fixed or not. We have a birthday coffee for my "mom" at her assisted living place in the afternoon; she turns 90 tomorrow. Bob has practice at 4:30, Maddy has a game, and Ian has a jazz concert. We will miss both of those. I really hate to miss the jazz concert but there is no way we can make it in time. Maddy and Kolby both have games Tuesday, and Ian has another concert next Monday night which we will be able to attend. Lots of miles on the car!

Hope you all have enjoyed a nice day!

Good morning to you all. A bit cooler today as we are expecting some big thunderstorms this evening.

I did a load of laundry, made the bed and vacuumed the upstairs. I ate a bit of lunch and have been reading a lot today.

Jean: Sounds like you day was very nice yesterday. Lots of running around for the grandkids things though. I talked to Jackson and he just got braces on his teeth. Seems a bit young since his 12 yr old molars won't have come through yet, but maybe his orthodontist wants to get a head start. He has huge front teeth that have gapped. Jay said he had a couple days of problems but he is doing fine with them now. Did you know Oprah Winfrey owns part of WW now?

Everyone have a good start to your week.

Good Afternoon! It's been another gloomy day of wind and rain. The computer program I use is still not up and running so I was done at church by 8:30 this morning. Stopped to pick up the gift shop money and deposited that on our way out of town. My "mom's" birthday party was nice. We got to sit at the head table with flowers and balloons. She introduced us as her daughter and son-in-law already knew the others who came. Several came from her previous apartment area. Bob is at practice for an hour or so. Usually there are two singing bass but he is on his own this next time. I am watching The Pioneer Woman on the Food Network; she makes everything look so simple and delicious. Makes me hungry!

"Gma," I agree Jackson seems young for braces. We were fortunate that neither Jason nor Beth needed them, and I don't think any of the grandkids will either. Kolby's front teeth seem so big so I hope he grows into them. I have seen the WW ads featuring Oprah. I don't know how much the meetings cost now, but know it's not cheap. The morning meeting I used to attend is no longer available here and the evening meeting includes people coming from surrounding 30+ mile radius. It meets the same time as I have bell practice so that takes care of that.

I should think about something simple for supper. After cake this afternoon, I'm not really hungry. The dining room hostess asked what kind of cake it was, chocolate or white. My sister said, "zebra" and then to me she said her mom asked for marble cake. When she ordered it, the baker said marble is yellow and chocolate while zebra is white and chocolate. It was delicious! Wishing you all an enjoyable evening!

Good morning to you all. We have had thunderstorms early this morning and more rain in the forecast. The temps are in the 60's right now and with the rain I don't imagine they will get very high. It is sticky though.

I need to clean upstairs bathrooms today but am not climbing those stairs if my hip doesn't quit aching. I hate rainy weather as it seems all the aches and pains come out.

Jack left for work just a few minutes ago and I have a load of laundry to put in the dryer. My washer is making a funny noise during agitation though it continues to work so don't know what that is about. I sure hope we don't have a big bill ahead of us with it. I swear we have had more problems with laundry appliances. They are made like crap anymore anyway and cost you a fortune.

Jean: Sounds like her birthday was lovely. I saw the actor that played Patty Duke's father in her show passed away. He was 93. Seems like everyday you see someone you grew up with gone. Stinks to get old sometimes. Tv used to be great but it is awful now. We don't even watch network tv and the two shows I watch are coming to an end so when baseball season is over I doubt the tv will be on in the evening. I watch a bunch of the cooking shows. I like Chopped and we watch Eat Street and Unique Eats and Sweets in the afternoon while we are eating dinner. Jack complains at how weird the food is on them and I keep telling him that's why they're called Unique. Hope your computer problems can be solved soon.

Everyone have a good Tuesday.

Good Evening! Just got home from another round of soccer games for Maddy and Kolby. Both teams won their games and it was a beautiful night to be sitting outside. I ran some errands this morning and then after lunch we stopped at a Sioux City nursery looking for a plant stand. Beth gave me a large plant for Mother's Day and Ernie decided the leaves were pretty tasty. It's a fun place with lots of things besides plants; I also bought some more flowers for the deck.

"Gma," we are supposed to get more rain tonight and we don't need any more right now. Very few farmers have their beans in the ground let alone finished with corn. It just dries out enough to get back in the fields then it rains again. Appliances sure aren't made to last very long that's for sure. Every once in awhile my fridge sounds different and Bob says it is a vibration noise. We are sneaking up on the furnace project but I'm waiting for some constant warm temperatures! I haven't seen the Eat Street nor Unique shows. I will have to look to see if we even get them.

I am tired and heading to bed. Tomorrow is my lunch bunch and I've got to drag out my sewing machine to mend a new top. The sleeve seam wasn't stitched in one spot so hope I can sew it without it being too obvious. I try to check seams when I buy something but somehow missed this one. Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday tomorrow!
