Good morning gals. Please forgive me, but from Friday on our life has been a mess.

We got a text from my sister in Phoenix that her mil was very, very ill and they didn't expect her to live. She said she and her husband were flying to AR and would be there Friday. We hurried around and packed and took off on Thursday and didn't get back home until Sunday night. We sat at the hospital for two straight days and she passed away late Saturday night. I cannot tell you how awful it was. To explain our connection besides Larry, my grandmother was my step grandmother but the only one I have ever known since she married my grandfather before I was even born. Her daughter is the one that passed and I was close to her like an aunt. On top of that, Larry and Jack are very good friends having gone to electronics school together in the Marines/Navy here in Memphis in the early days. It is how I met Jack. They would hitch hike on weekends to go to Larry's house. His mom became a second mom to Jack since he couldn't go to New Mexico to see his mom. So basically their whole family is part of our family and they treat the two of us like their kids. I won't go into all the sordid details of what happened to her, but when I walked into her ICU room I was devastated. She weighed less that 60 lbs, her chest was caved in, she was on a ventilator, the bottom half of her bottom was bloated up from a build up of carbon monoxide gas (had to do with the cancer in her lungs and them not working) I kissed her, told her we loved her held her hand for a couple minutes and then left. I couldn't take it and I didn't want her to see me lose control or the kids have to comfort me when it was their mom dying. We are leaving tomorrow morning as the viewing is tomorrow evening and the funeral on Thursday. We had to rearrange a bunch of doctor's appointments, but I was not going to not go. Her husband was concerned about whether we got home ok and if we were coming back. He wanted us there even though we are not blood. She was such a wonderful lady in every way. It is stressful for Jack and I because something came up last night we have to deal with and it had to be done right away.

Susan: I will have to preorder the book. I saw it was coming out, but didn't know when. Hope you had a nice time at your tea.

Jean: Hope the mail thing got straightened out. We are supposed to be in the 70's this week, but then will drop back to the 50's.

Everyone have a great day.

Good Morning! It's a gloomy "wet" and sloppy day in my neighborhood. Snow is melting, which is good. Now if the sun would just come out for a whole day it would be most welcome. I've been to church to count money; not many in church Sunday so not much to count. I thought we had the gift shop credit figured out, but found another discrepancy so went back again and met with the accountant upstairs. I refuse to pay a late charge for an invoice I never got. After sending $3000+ in checks Friday, they can eat $1.20 imo. The excuse was "they" (the buyers) were so busy with Christmas merchandise yadda, yadda, yadda. I played cards last night (bad cards and took low), stayed up too late when I got home, and now feel like I could use a nap. I thought it was next week until the gal that I pick up on my way called to see if I was playing. I thought it was next week. It helps to look at the calendar! Have more laundry to put away and need to vacuum fur bunnies, maybe vacuuming will wait until tomorrow.

"Gma," I am sorry about the death of your friend/family member. It's never easy to lose a loved one. Have a safe trip. How far away is it?

Bob will be home soon so need to dream up something for supper. Hope you all enjoy a nice day!
