Good morning to you all. Sorry I didn't get in here all weekend as we were super busy. It got pretty cold here over the weekend but we are supposed to get warmed back up all week.
I have a bunch of work today today and this week and I am waiting on a call from the scheduling nurse about the gyn test. She didn't call Friday. If they drag this on, it is going to have to wait until we come back from the cruise and I am going to have to go back to the doctor's again and start all over. You either have space to do it or you don't. Right now it is up in the air so I hope she calls today.
We never did get to the movies so am hoping we can go on Saturday. Jack has been working overtime and though it is nice, it messes up trying to do anything.
Susan: What a mess! I get so tired of the outsourcing and then not being able to understand the person supposedly going to help you. Most of the time I feel they don't understand what you want let alone you understanding what they are saying. It's ridiculous. The car has been fun finding out all the things it does. We took it out on the interstate and found some of the safety features to be great. It has a back up camera, back up sensors that warn when you are close to something, forward sensors too and nifty mirrors in the side mirrors that light up when someone is in your blind spot. The car needs washing, but it still has paper tags on the outside so we unsure whether they would be ok going through a car wash so it will have to stay with bugs until we get permanent tags. I won't bore you with all the other stuff, but it is fun.
Maggie: Glad Will is feeling better.
Jean: I have a different problem with UPS if it is this one driver. He is probably in his 30's, black and nice enough, but he stands and knocks at the door forever until I answer instead of just knocking and leaving the stuff. Why? He stares at my boobs! Why he would want to stare at some old ladies big flabby boobs I have no idea but I completely quit answering the door for deliveries anymore. I have shades on both windows so he can't see in. He even went so far one day that he wrote up a note and stuck it to my mail box even though my gate was unlocked saying he would deliver the next day even though he could have put the packages inside the gate or up by the door. He must have thought better of it as he came back a bit later and knocked and got a faceful of my husband, whose boobs he didn't care for I guess. He hasn't been around or just leaves it now as I get stuff all the time so I wonder if my husband scared him off I did complain, but I had no info as to who he is or a badge number or anything as he has nothing on his clothing and from what I understand, unlike commercial deliveries, you don't necessarily get the same guy all the time.
Good Afternoon! The sun finally came out this afternoon but it is so windy! Dirt is blowing all over and the air is dirt colored. Ick! It's been a busy day for me. Just two of us to count this morning; the secretary didn't show up at all and didn't call. As I was leaving the minister came and said she had been up all night in the bathroom, so wasn't coming in. I got my flu shot and picked up the gift shop money in one stop, counted that money, and have it ready to deposit tomorrow. Changed clothes and left for a P.E.O. meeting this afternoon picking up two other ladies on my way. Have changed clothes again and will head to card club later. Tomorrow is on the road to a soccer game, our last one. Ian has a football game another hour north so we aren't going to that one. He has one more game next week.
"Gma," I hope you heard from the nurse today. I hate the "hurry up and wait" game. We used to have the same UPS driver all the time, and he was so good! When he retired there was a huge open house for him where they have their warehouse and people from all the little surrounding towns came. I think too many delivery people have the "oh well" attitude and NO pride in their work.
I am going to sit down and watch the news on tv. Enjoy your evening!
Good morning all. Well, Jack just left for work and I have a ton of stuff to do again today so will have to get to it when I get done here. I have stuff to haul to the corner for the trash so I can sweep and mop today. Jack leaves boxes in the house until Wednesday in case of rain, but it isn't supposed to rain today so I am taking them out so I can get some work done.
I heard from the scheduling nurse so my test is going to be the 9th. I don't have to be there until 10 am so am a bit worried about my blood sugar as I can eat past midnight and who knows when he will get to me. I can't even drink oj.
I got my yearly mammogram letter, but am going to wait until December to schedule that. There is too much going on next month to try and fit it in somewhere. I have a pharmacy appointment about my belviq on the 3rd, the test on the 9th, our cruise and Thanksgiving, and possibly a doctor's appointment regarding the surgery.
I actually slept all night last night, which I haven't done in a long, long time. I usually have to get up once to go to the bathroom.
Jean: Nice of the minister to let you know. Hope the game went well and they won their last game and Ian won too. Stay warm today. It is chilly here again, but is going to warm up into the 80's today for about the last time it looks like.
I have my appointment with the orthopedic surgeon this afternoon (about my foot). Thursday is my 12-hour appointment at the research center and then I have to go in Friday morning for a quick test there. Tonight I have quilting bee, library bee tomorrow night, another bee Friday. Next week is the quilting retreat so I'm busy!
Faye, I hope things go well for your tests with the doc. Is your test in the hospital or the doc's office. If the hospital, I'd call and ask them what to do since you are diabetic. When Sandy had her surgeries, she wasn't allowed to eat after midnight but her diabetes didn't react badly. Usually they try to schedule diabetics first thing around here.
Jean, you are one busy lady! They say being social is one of the things that keeps alzheimers away. If so, I have nothing to worry about!
Good Afternoon! We are in Sioux Falls waiting for Zowie to get home from school, then off to her soccer game. It's a beautiful day, NO wind, sunny and 72 degrees. Perfect! Amanda is going to Ian's football game.
"Gma," I hope you got everything done that you wanted to do today. It seems if I don't get my chores done in the morning they don't all get done. Glad you have a date from the nurse.
Susan, you are our energizer bunny around here! No grass is going to grow under your feet! Let us know how your surgeon appointment goes. A friend asked what I do with my time since retiring. She is afraid to retire thinking she will just sit home and stare at the walls. I gave her a volunteer list at the hospital for starters!
Not much newsy so I'm going to surf the net a bit. Hope you enjoy the rest of the day!
Good morning! Cool and a little less warm today. I am going out this morning to the county clerks office to renew my disabled placard. I drive all the way out to the town where the Navy base is because they aren't as busy and I would have to wait all day otherwise. I have to drop a check off in the mail to my brother for my sister's care and may get the bugs washed off the car. I need to take a good look at the license plate where the temp tag is to see if it is enclosed so it doesn't get wet.
I had to buy a couple pair of blue jeans. The ones I have I can't keep up and putting a belt on them makes them bunch up too much under my shirts. They are pretty baggy. I hated having to buy new stuff so soon, but I have to have jeans that fit. I just went down one size so I hope these aren't too big also because sending them back takes forever and there is no place here in town I can get jeans big enough to fit me. I have a couple of older ones, but they are a shade too tight yet and I can't stand tight jeans.
Susan: Hope all goes well with your dr appointments. Let us know what the doctor decides about your foot. You do stay very busy. Now that I have a car, I can do whatever I want during the day so will have to find things to do I guess.
Jean: I heard it was lower 70's at the Cubs games last night, which is unusual for late October. I heard it is going to be a crazy winter up north with a lot less snow but who knows. Hope they games went well.
Everyone have a great day. I need to get my chores done early so I can head out around 8 or so.
Good Morning! It's cloudy, windy, and much cooler today. The weather started out so nice yesterday but the clouds rolled in and dropped a few raindrops just before we headed to the soccer game. Zowie's team won, 8-0, but the other team was "mean" with tripping and elbowing. Amanda returned from Ian's game in time to watch Zo's second half. This morning I've been to get my nails done and renewed my library book. I was going to return it without finishing it but read a couple chapters waiting for the library to open, so my interest is renewed. I have a church memorial meeting later and then bell practice. Next on my today's to-do list is litter boxes, so I'm off to do that.
"Gma," on growing out of your jeans! I imagine you enjoy being able to run errands whenever it's convenient for you to do so. I've heard we are supposed to be cold but not as much snow this winter. We'll see I guess.
I need to get busy! Hope you all enjoy a nice Wednesday!
As the doc said yesterday, "Susan, your foot was just a big mess and it's back to being a big mess again! He is going to fuse my second toe that is try to get over my big toe so that it stays in line and I also have a bone on the bottom of my foot that needs to be shaved down so it's going to be another fun time. Just waiting for a date. He also said the arthritis is getting worse in my feet.
One of my friends at bee last night showed us her 70th birthday gift to herself - a small butterfly tattoo on her shoulder. I saw whatever floats your boat but no tattoo for me.
Faye, it would be good if you found something to get you out of the house a little more.
Good morning to you all. Going to be in the mid 80's here today again. This is some loopy weather for sure.
Got all my running around done yesterday and came home and did a bit of work and took a nap. I am going to tackle the upstairs bathrooms today and get that over with. This is commissary weekend and we need to go out on Saturday and get stuff from WM that the commissary doesn't carry. We were hoping to get out and blow out leaves off the deck and such this weekend, but they are predicting rain so don't know if that is going to happen. Jack is going to take the car tomorrow to take some of the guys out to lunch and he said he was going to take towels and make them sit on them to go to lunch. I bought leather cleaner wipes so will clean up the seats and such when he gets back home or on Saturday.
I am waiting for my paperwork for my blood work and stuff for the hospital test. I thought I would get it yesterday, but it didn't come. You should see my computer desk as I have sticky notes about all the appointments I have and need to make with dates and such across the shelf. I have always done it this way and put the appointments in my Ipad calendar so I don't forget them.
Jean: I think you asked me a few posts back about whether it was being done in the hospital or dr office. This procedure has to be done in the hospital so they will use general anesthesia for it and I can't eat after midnight, blah, blah, blah. I plan on letting them know about my bsugar reading for that morning so they know and may take it again before I go in. My bsugar has been in the 90's ever since I started Belviq so hopefully there will be no problems with it. I don't know why coaches don't discourage poor sportsmanship. Kids should love playing just for the sake of playing and shouldn't have to worry about getting kicked on purpose or tripped or other nonsense. What book are you reading? I am reading some bookbub free one that is some murder mystery with witches or some such thing. A little kooky but an easy read.
Susan: So now after he works on it will you be back in a boot again for awhile? No one is going to stick ink under my skin either! If I want a tattoo I will get one of those temp ones that fade and wash off, but I have no intention of marking myself up at my age. My son has a long tattoo from shoulder to about his elbow of the smoking caterpillar. He was in his 20's when he got it and added to it a bit but I haven't seen it lately. My husband has no tattoos even though popular with sailors. Not going to happen since he is scared of needles! I wear enough jewelry, I don't need a tattoo.
Everyone have a great Thursday. I am off to get the day started.
Good Afternoon! It's been a strange weather day with a bit of sunshine, lots of clouds, breezy, and cool. We are supposed to get some rain tonight and tomorrow. Bob was in hopes they would get finished with harvest tomorrow. I spent the morning having coffee with a friend, then did a couple errands. This afternoon I dusted and vacuumed fur bunnies. There was an article in today's paper saying not to feed stray/feral cats in town. They have become a big problem in the riffraff neighborhoods around town. A few years ago the police trapped them by the hundreds and the vets put them down. Since we don't live "in" town I will continue to feed my orphans. I have a haircut tomorrow then think I will be home for the rest of the day.
Susan, I'm so sorry about your toe! I think it sounds like a big inconvenience for you again, not to mention the pain. I'm with you and no tattoo for me either!
"Gma," I am reading The Collector by Nora Roberts. It's a large hard back book and took me awhile to get into it. I really should start reading a book during the day so I remember what I read, and not have to reread the next night. It seems like paperback books go faster. I hope your hospital procedure can be done ASAP so you can move on to the next step. I know you are looking forward to the cruise. Amanda was telling about the parent/player meeting, for the next football team. The kids and parents have to sign a contract saying there will be no drugs, etc., and if there are any derogatory remarks or yelling at the refs, the person will be asked to leave the game. They have to request special permission to stay somewhere besides at the hotel with the rest of the team. There is a chartered bus reserved for the OK game, but they have to win both games in Minneapolis first. That same weekend is a Vikings game and a home hockey game on top of these kids and families all coming. They are playing in the Gopher (?) Dome, whatever team that is.
I'm thinking soup sounds good for supper. I have some frozen potato/cheese soup that I need to use. Hope you all enjoy a nice evening!
Good morning to you all. Going to be another warm day here but we are looking at some rain this weekend. I noticed a pretty big tropical storm/hurricane bearing down on the pacific side of Mexico and supposed to make landfall today. It is a category 5 so a pretty big storm. I think Alicia's dad lives on that side of Mexico so am hoping they are going to be safe.
I finished the downstairs yesterday and am going to tackle upstairs bathrooms if my legs will let me. I was up a lot last night with pain in my knees and hips and my hands hurt a lot this morning.
I got my paperwork for my blood testing and made an appointment to go in and get it all done and such next Friday. I imagine I will have to park a bazillion miles away again. I can't believe a hospital has only two handicapped spots but spots for every membership group, you can imagine. The one group has 16 parking spaces in the front row alone.
The pillow doesn't work so back it goes, the sleeve curls so back it goes and the blue jeans are a perfect fit, but they sent peacock blue instead of stonewashed so back they go. I ordered another two pair and it says stonewashed so hopefully they won't screw it up again. I need the jeans for vacation because I just can't keep these others on very well. I can wear a belt, but it looks like those hillbilly cartoons where the old guy has his pants tied one with a rope.
Jean: Hope you enjoy the rest of the book. I have a book saved for vacation I am itching to read and a couple more that will come through before I go so will have a bunch of my favorite authors then lots and lots of others I haven't read I get off bookbub. Is his football through school or a league? At least they are trying to keep things in line with the parents. It is a shame it even has to be a subject brought up.
Good Afternoon! It's a gloomy rainy day in my neighborhood. A day like this makes me appreciate the nice warm days we've been having even more. I went for a "tiny trim" this morning and got a full blown haircut. I have clothes in the washer that should be done by now. I have nothing planned for the rest of the day -- I'm tired for some reason. Bob went to the office to see what he has missed during harvest. If there were any problems or questions they called him while he was farming. Our hard maple tree leaves are beginning to change colors. When they drop they cover the yard like a blanket. It takes several pickup trips to get rid of them.
"Gma," what kind of pillow did you order? I guess I missed that along the way. I got the shoes I ordered, same size and brand I have worn before. They are comfortable bordering too wide unless I wear heavier socks. They are just a dress flat type shoe so I can't decide whether to keep them or not. I know if they stretch at all I will walk out of them. It would be nice if the hospital, you have to go for your blood test, would have valet parking. The football team Ian is on now, is his school's 7th grade team. The next one is a SD state team.
I need to get clothes in the dryer and start another load. I'm going to turn up the thermostat on my way! Hope you all enjoy the rest of your day!
Good morning to you all. We are supposed to get rain all weekend. We got some spits and spurts last night when we went out. I had forgotten we have "intelligent" wipers. They come on automatically when the windshield has rain on it. They about scared me to death last night as I wasn't expecting it and had forgotten the car had them.
We went out to see the "Bridge of Spies" movie last night. It was really good and we enjoyed it very much except for 4 older teenagers who came into the movie I guess expecting something else or they were running from theater to theater. They kept running in and out and up and down the stairs before the movie started then once it started were there about 15 minutes and all of them took off with the girl shouting "Hil Hitler," as she left. Wow smart kid considering this was about an incident in the 60's not during WWII. Anyway it is a very good movie and Tom Hanks does a great job.
My female stuff revved up yesterday and I only got the fridge cleaned out. I wanted to clean upstairs bathrooms but the cramping was so bad I said to heck with it. We have some shopping to do at Walmart early this morning so maybe I can get to it when we get back.
Jean: I bought one of those between the knee thigh pillows that are sort of wedge shaped. It was too hard. I have an expensive pillow I bought several years ago like a sleep number one or something that conforms to your head and always stays cool, etc. I took it out there and put it on the seat last night and it seems to do the trick. I have an extra one so I don't need this one as Jack likes those really flat pillows and sleeps on two of them. I have to be careful getting in or I slide the pillow, but I told Jack for long trips he can help me get it pulled back into place. Anything to relieve the pain in my thigh that comes from the seat pushing on the blood vessels. I have leaves all over the place we need to get cleaned up and were going to do that this weekend sometime but not with the rain. We are going to have rain pretty much all week so I doubt they dry out enough to try it next weekend either. We were away from home last weekend and the trees and shrubs, etc are still pretty green here. I thought after the frost several days ago they would really start to change, but not so far. Kelly and Tom have at least 20 trees in their back yard and there are a lot of leaves for them to clean up for sure.
Everyone have a good Saturday. I just bought the new John Grisham book, Rogue Lawyer, so I think I will sit and read for a bit.
Good Afternoon! It's a beautiful day in my neighborhood, sunny and NO wind. I spent the morning washing, drying, and folding farm clothes. Bob has a closet in the garage so he puts them away however he wants. He grilled steaks for lunch and I made scalloped corn and baked potatoes. It seemed strange to eat a regular meal together at noon. I need to balance the gift shop check book and file that paperwork away. I think we will make a quick trip to the cabin tomorrow. Beth and Kolby are having a scouting adventure (sleepover) in a church gym some weekend. She thought the air mattresses sounded better than the hard floor.
"Gma," we had the rain yesterday and I was glad to see the sun today. I had to laugh about your intelligent wipers. Doesn't your car have the adjustable lumbar (?) support in the seats? It will be a gloomy week for you if it rains all week. Next weekend we will be dark at 5:00, or close to it.
I need to keep moving before I fall asleep. Enjoy the rest of your day!
Good morning to you all. Rain, rain in the forecast for us today. We had rain pretty much all day on and off yesterday too.
Commissary day today, which is always awful when it is raining. My list isn't very big so hopefully it won't take long. Jack says it will take an hour anyway as it usually does. We have this big mat in the trunk of the car that is wrapped in plastic and we think it is to protect the trunk. It is too big to go anywhere else. We are taking the MKS to get groceries today so we shall see how the trunk is. It is pretty darn big so hopefully all my luggage will fit for the cruise. Have to take those shoes you know!
This weather is playing havoc with my arthritis though and with the female stuff again I am pretty darn achy. I try not to take anything unless it is unbearable. My shoulder really aches this morning and my hands. I am going to put the heating pad on my shoulder for awhile when I get done here.
Jean: Yes we have back and seat lumbar, but this seat thing has nothing to do with that as the lumbar is in the center of the seat and this is the side next to the door. The new cars have the front seat sides built up on them, sort of like a U instead of __, and where the seat is curved up on the sides it pushed on the varicose veins on the side of my thigh and causes them to ache. I found two solutions combined that work. After we got groceries at WM, we came home and put it all away and went out for a drive to Jackson, TN, which is about 90 minutes away to see how it would work. I took that fancy pillow and I wore my long leg shaper and the combination kept the pain away. The pillow conforms to your head so it conformed to my leg and is soft not stiff like the seat. The shaper leg worked sort of like one of those thigh supports you can buy to keep the leg restricted and the combo worked. We drove to Jackson, ate lunch and came back and though my knee bothered me because of the rain, the thigh didn't. It had been extremely painful before, so much so I told Jack I might have to ride in the back seat to go to Florida as the back seat is a bench seat and doesn't have those winged sides. We are having steaks for dinner tonight. Jack will have a baked potato but I haven't decided yet on a half one or extra veggies. I hate dry potato and unless you put a lot of butter on it, etc it is kind of bland.
