Satine- I have googled a few different Kale chip recipes. One suggested that you cook them at a lower heat for longer and leave them on the pan for 3 or 4 minutes after you take them out of the oven. That really did make them crisper. Another hint was to "massage" the olive oil onto the kale. I just put 1/2 table spoon of oil in a bowl with the kale and stir. Then I toss it around with my hands and rub all the leaves so they have a very thin even coat of olive oil.

dcapulet Hugs! You are going through so much all at once! Just take things one step at a time!

Have a great weekend eveybody!

Morning everyone, hope you all had a good weekend ...mine was pretty good, but too short as usual ...don't know how much longer I can do this working thing, lol

Dcap - I'm sorry, sounds like you have had it pretty rough, with all that stress it would be really hard to focus on losing weight ...hugs to you.

I've been on the phone most of the morning getting the run around from St V Breast Center ...I had a mammo done this Summer and OF COURSE they wanted further tests done, but somehow no one can tell me what these tests will cost me, every time I get someone on the phone they tell me to call somewhere else ...frankly I'm quite over it ...and those freakin tests are so expensive and I have horrible insurance ...with a huge deductible ....so either way I'm screweddddddd ...okay enough whining I guess ...I'm just more paranoid about it because one of my friends just got diagnosed at 42 with breast cancer ...

Have a good day ladies

Kate you are so right about the walking partners. I had two really good walking partners once. We walked faithfully. Missing them. If I were still in Virginia would know where to go, but I haven't taken the time to really learn about NC yet and the area that we're in, there are too many loose dogs, dogs that jump their fences, so I won't walk around here. I look having my music when I walk but I'm a chatter box so I prefer to have someone to talk to I'm gonna have to remember to place my Kale in a bowl to coat with the olive oil, thanks.

Carri, my daughter loves Ulta and Sephora. I don't know anything about make up. Each time I have wanted to look pretty my daughter or my cousin have applied the make up Ha I hope I can get back on the wagon in a few days if not tomorrow I went to Virginia this weekend and ate a ton of treats that I hadn't had since December so I now need to detox Carri, praying you get some real answers soon regarding the cost of the additional test. Did they at least tell you what they think they may have seen?

dcapulet, I'm sorry to hear of all that you have going on. I pray that things get better. Prayerfully the meds won't have that effect on you

Linda, where are you?

Well I ate everything under the sun this weekend and I enjoyed it all. Had a blast with my youngest daughter and some great friends. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Rennie – I absolutely LOVE Ulta and Sephora …I spend way too much $$ at Ulta, it’s like my second home…I’m all about my make up and nail polish …I have so much nail polish ( over 100 bottles ) that I had to buy this shelving unit for my bathroom …dh bought for me actually , he was sick of seeing it all around …see if I can add a pic of it at the bottom of this post. It’s pretty cool.
Yeah, I’m right there with ya not doing well, needing to detox as well …
Yes, I have a lump that I’ve had for several years that they just keep an eye on in the left one, and it’s time to get another ultra sound of it …and they said they saw some calcifications in the right one ( whatever that means ) that needs another mammo …I just had a friend who was diagnosed with brst cancer and she is my same age…so it has scared me into getting the additional tests just to be safe…and yes I did finally get someone to help me with the price..she said approx 800-850 for both tests …not cheap, but what are ya gonna do I guess…better safe than sorry.

Getting two fillings done this afternoon so I know I won’t feel like eating much unless its soft. Dh said he would make me some instant potatoes, hahahahaha.

Later ladies !!

Carri, I have a few bottles of nail polish only because what ever color I get on my nails I will purchase for my feet. I have my pet egg and my shea butter to do my feet so I don't wanna pay for a pedicure but I don't know how to apply the gel to my nails and file them smooth so I do treat myself to that. I like your wall unit. It's nicer than the ones at the nail spas Glad you got some help with the pricing, I hope you can get some assistance with the cost. I don't know if there is such a thing but one can hope ... gotta take care of you. Two fillings and potatoes ... ah maybe use today to help detox and drink some broth ... just a thought (but who am I) I need to be doing the same thing. Though I've already ate the kitchen ttyl

Carri, me too. A post-er on another thread just posted her menu for her fasting/low calorie days ...

B- 1 egg (70cal) 2 slices of bacon (90 cal)
L- EAS Advantedge Shake (110 cal)
D- Laura Lean Beef Burger (160 cal), slice American cheese (60 cal) and a touch of mustard. ... may add a cup of steamed broccoli if really hungry.

... plenty of water, don't eat anything after 5pm. She plans on doing this the rest of the month. She said it is to shake up the metabolism a bit.

I may try this for a day. Would you want to try this together?

Good Morning everyone!

Had a great weekend. Friday night was dinner out with my mother. Then we went to a paint n sip fund raiser for my grandson's preschool. Saturday was visiting with my cousin, then helped mom with a few things and I bartended that night. Sunday hubby let me sleep in. Then I went for a 3.5 mile walk, it was 88 degrees and sunny. I was exhausted when I got home. We then sighted in my new deer rifle. I am already for my first time deer hunting, just over a month away. After that I spent a couple hours cleaning and rearranging my art/craft room. Then we move most everything out of the living room. We will be paintng the ceiling and walls along with getting new carpet! FINALLY!! In 2005 we got carpet, we picked some cheaer stuff because we had a new puppy. Hubby promised we would have new carpet for our son's graduation. He graduated in 2008...We are FINALLY getting new carpet.

Yesterday it was too cold and windy (40 mph with gusts to 60 mph) to walk so I went to the gym. I did 60 minutes on the elliptical, I was exhausted but glad I made the whole 60 minutes! I plan on going again tonight.

Kate YAY on the new carpet and great job on the elliptical.

Carri, how's your mouth feel? What did you eat for dinner? I am doing the fast/low cal day (well the day isn't over so I am attempting to do it). I had an egg pattie, 3 pieces of bacon with 1 slice of American cheese, and then I mixed one scoop of Slim Fast powder in 8 ozs of water and poured it into my coffee. That was lunch. I missed breakfast, so I guess that was brunch

Evening ladies …ughhhhh my mouth is still so sore…I had 4 shots and then two hours of them having my mouth propped open to work on the two fillings…my mouth has just had it, I’m having trouble opening it a lot ( which my husband says is a great side effect, haha, hates to hear me gab I guess ) …I’m still on soft foods for a day or two more I guess …ouch ouch ouch

Rennie – I do that anyway, well part of it…I normally don’t eat after 6:00 and it has helped a lot , I also don’t have any carbs after about 3 or 4 …and that has made a huge difference, so no carbs at dinner. I don’t think I could just eat that kind of stuff all day but I can see where it would do the trick …I drink nothing but water so I’m good on that. Let me know if you try it and what you think.

Hi Kate – great job on the exercise …it’s almost getting too chilly around here to walk, and I hate that because I love walking outside, never get the same experience of the outdoors on a treadmill lol

Can’t wait to leave work in a few mins, go home and put jammies on and just veg …I had it with this work day !!!

Have a great night ladies !!!

Morning Ladies …still struggling here …at least I’m getting some exercise in that will offset my food troubles lately. I hate that when it starts to get cooler and days shorter that I want warm comfort food.

I didn’t have a good night last night ( beyond the food thing ) …I didn’t get much sleep because dh was out late and so today I’m Ms. Grump at work, and then come right into something stupid here of course …see ? grumpy lol

Linda – well now you just have me worried because it’s been so long …at least message one of us or stop in and say “hi” so we know everything is okay with you and the family. I always get so worried when someone just drops off suddenly, especially the thread owner.
Hope all is okay.

I’ll check back with you guys later …have a good morning.

Hello everyone!

Yesterday the weather was better so I was able to get out for a walk. My dog always comes with and runs up ahead a bit. I love watching him chase rabbits, birds and even bugs. It makes the walk go faster. I was about 100 yards from my turn around point yesterday and rolled my ankle and fell. Nothing serious, just some scrapes, but of course it happened when I was furthest away from home. I brushed off the dirt and "walked it off". Just made me realize why I bring my cell phone with, if I would have needed help I could have called hubby or mom.

This morning one of our customer sent warm fresh cinnamon rolls from a local coffe shop/bakery. A woman brough two huges boxes each with a dozen cinnamon rolls, butter and extra cups of icing. She dropped them in my office when I was at the bank. My office smelled so sinfully good! But I set them in the break room and didn't have any! It took a lot of willpower, but I am glad I didn't eat any!

Carri- hope the mouth gets feeling better. I HATE having dental work done!

Better get back to work! Have a great day everyone!

LOL Carri, I'm sure that is the reward for my husband when I have dental work also I hate the way they keep your mouth stretched for so long. That's truly uncomfortable. Hope your mouth feels better soon Carri I did do it yesterday and it paid off with a 2.2lb water weight drop. I did a bit of snacking also and it still paid off. The snacking was a trade out (not intentional, just happened) in place of dinner. I need to try the no carbs after 4, thanks for that tip. You are so right with the not getting the experience of the outdoors on a treadmill. Well here's a hours later to help with the grumpiness Hope your mood is better now Carri, I've disappeared so many times, so prayerfully she's just taking a break and all is well.

Kate, is your ankle ok. I've done that twice and had hairline fractures each time. Be careful Lady ... cinnamon rolls Someone put a bunch of carby snacks in our break room today. I didn't touch them. YAY us Kate

I had a nice water drop of 2.2lbs. Eating properly always works for me the first day. Let's see if I can string another one along I made my first baked sweet potato (baked for 8 minutes in the microwave). I added a little margarine, nutmeg and cinnamon, pretty good

Morning ladies ...

Kate - cinnamon rolls are a BIG weakness for me so I would have probably given in, great job that you didn't...I know how hard that is.
Hope your ankle is okay, I hate when I do things like that ...cause the older you get the more those things start to happen, haha

The mouth is not feeling any better, I've been taking a lot of ibuprofen which I hate, but feel like I need to to get thru this first week of soreness ...still eating soft foods only.

Rennie - congrats on the loss ...glad to hear that way of eating worked for you...yes, I highly recommend the no carbs after 4 thing ...it also really helps with belly bloat ...I get a lot of that from carbs. Your sweet potato sounds good.

TGIF So glad it is Friday ...hope you guys have a great weekend !!! Talk to you Monday.
