Morning all. Rainy evening last night and earlier this morning. No watering required! Now it looks sunny, so it’ll be nice to get outside at lunch. :sunny: The temps dropped quite a bit, which doesn’t bother me at all.

Michelle – Hurray to you for any distance you run in these events, and then walking the rest. You’ve come such a long way. I’m not much of a running fan, so I guess anything that makes it fun - be it music, bubbles, colors – is a good thing if it motivates someone. The glow run/walk sounds fun. Good for you with yesterday’s fitness assessment. So will you continue with the group training sessions?? I hope the dosage change helps.

Ceejay – So if you’re the only operator on the shift, do you see other people at all, like those from the light office? Nice you “talked” to your cousin. :)

Happy – Nice you’re loaded down with all those fruits and veggies! I have yet to get to any farmers markets. There’s one today at Federal Plaza down here – maybe I’ll get over there at lunch. I like soup a lot, doesn’t really matter what time of year it is. The portable chairs are the camp-type ones that store in a bag with a carrying strap. The brand we bought is Kijaro. Bf bought the XXL size because his legs are long and the deeper seat worked better for him.

https://kijaro.com/products/chairs/xxl-dual-lock/

Re the mulch – we bought a lot, but we have yet to spread any of it around!! Re book club – I’ve skipped a few of them on purpose, but I don’t think there’s been one since maybe April?? Anyway, I might have mentioned previously that I’m easing myself out of the club because I don’t enjoy them all that much anymore, probably because I just don’t fit in that well with the group. I did, however, decide to host one more club at my house because it’s been such a long time since I did. So it’s on July 17th. Yes, a Friday evening. Dunno how that date came up (though I didn’t say it couldn’t be a Friday), but it’s fine by me. Gives me an excuse to take a half day off work (or maybe a whole day?). So that will sort of be my last hurrah for the book club.

Annie – You had a busy, busy weekend! Nice you saw the family. I saw the fresh catch on FB – YUM. I think C needs to construct a fish-cleaning hut out back, LOL.

Hellos to the rest of you!
--

Nothing going on here, so I’ll just get this posted. Have a great rest of the day!

Just remembered I have photos of the old and new DR cabinets.

Old:

New:
Oops, slightly fuzzy. But I'm sure you get the jist.

Holler if it's slowing everything down on the thread and I'll remove them.

Hi Everyone. I survived Monday at work but it was a long day. Today was better. Both managers were out and I accomplished a lot and left on time.

We have rain again here in Ohio. It is depressing...I want sunshine so it feels like summer.

I am out of the habit of exercising and I really need to get back treadmill every night. I am proud of him. Now, I need to get into a routine and start feeling good about myself.

Happy: Did you enjoy seeing your friends that you wanted to at the thrift shop?

Annie: It sounds like you had a great weekend and spent some $$. I am like you when I am at Cracker Barrel...I always buy something. Should I tell you that there is a Cracker Barrel right beside Kings Island?! lol

Michelle: I hope you get the issue with the depression meds worked out.
As for the 10 k and the 5 k's. I say a combination of fun ones and then ones where you are concentrating on the mileage and the time you finish in.

Laura: It sounds like you had a lot of fun over the weekend at the festivals with the music. My DH and I like to do those festivals and listen to music.

The before and after picture of the cabinet is quite a difference. Good job on getting it to the "after".

Ceejay: Some week are harder than others to eat well and clean. Just get to it. How are you doing with using the exercise bike?

Terra1984 07-07-2015 08:44 PM

Michelle ~ Have you worked out to VB's dvd yet? If so do you like it?

Ceejay52 ~ Yeah I cant wait until Scott buys Jurassic World on Blu-Ray

Susie ~ Laura ~ I like my glasses, I just wish my eyes would get adjusted to them already cause I've gotten a headache every day since I started wearing them but the guy at the Walmart Eye glass place said that will happen until my eyes adjust to the new glasses.

Happy ~ Hi *Waves Back*

Laura ~ Love the picture of the new cabinet, Happy Belated Birthday, I hope you had a wonderful birthday.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I got alot done today, I cleaned the bathroom, swept the kitchen floor,Put away my clean clothes and went and got my glasses adjusted because they were a little tight around my ears but now they are better. Tomorrow I have school but I dont have to go until 11 a.m. I'll be there until 4 p.m. and then Thursday I go to school at 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. and then my friend and I are going to lunch and then the movies and then Scott and I are going to the movies on Sat. so I have a busy week and weekend but its okay I dont mind being busy. Take Care everyone.
Good dreary morning here in Indy. Yuk, we had 4.5 inches of rain YESTERDAY. So much flash flooding. Was hard getting home from work, as I despise driving through water on the roads inches deep. Couldn't turn around, two lane road with no where to go. Just go slow and hope for the best. I have been taking a co-worker to and from work the past several days as her car needed a new alternator and her nephew was repairing it for her on his time. All done and she is back to driving, anyway I guess my point is I had extra driving in the nasty rainy, flooded stuff.
C went up north after work last night to visit with his parents, sister, niece and nephews. He spent the night and staying the day to visit. Thankfully I couldn't go. Not that I don't like them, it is just a lot of time to invest when after an hour of being there, there is nothing to talk about and is very boring. Instead I got a lot done at home last night. Two loads of laundry, dishes unloaded and reloaded, one of my flower pits<---due to rain, weeded. Sassy girl and I had a nice evening and she stuck to me like glue.
My veggie garden is probably going down the tubes. I have harvested 4 jalepeno peppers so far. Everything else is pretty much too soggy for any growth or produce. My tomato plants have lovely blooms and the leaves at the bottom of the plants are turning yellow and dying. Bummer.
TERRA...the glasses being too tight may have caused your headaches also, hope the adjustment took care of the problem. Have fun with you friend and BF.
SUSIE....I have actually eaten at that CB before. Yikes more money going out! Hope you get to feeling better about yourself and exercising. Nice when management is out of the office, amazing how much more you can accomplish.
LAURA...your new corner cabinet is very pretty. I like it a lot. So very different from the old one. Very nice.
CHELLE...10 years is a long time to be on the same anti-depressant med. They can just quit working for you. If the upped doseage does not help, you might want to look into switching it up. Hugs dear sister friend.
Hello's all the way around to you fine group of ladies. Hugs!
happy2bme 07-08-2015 09:11 AM
Morning everyone,
Quick post for me - I have to wake up and then shower up quick and head off to a meeting where I need to be conscious enough to take minutes :write:
Laura - I love the new cabinet. Really pretty. Much more a piece of furniture than the utility cabinet you had before. Just works better for decorative items than cookbooks. Thanks for the info on the camp chairs. Maybe because these are not supposed to sag, they might be more comfortable. :crossed:
Annie - sorry your garden is sogging out. I don't know where the farmer's market people are getting such nice produce, no one's garden seems to be doing well this year. DH said yesterday that he heard early in spring they predicted a cooler summer and they were right. I missed that prediction. Today I had to turn the heat on in the house to take the chill out. I know what you mean about C and the relatives. I felt the same way with DH's side of the family. Two of them had limited interests - they only talked about what was going on in town and the people they knew so it was extremely difficult to have a conversation with them - they did not watch tv or read the newspaper to discuss current events. Didn't go to the movies either. I dreaded the time I had to spend there. :rolleyes: How is your foot feeling in all this soggy weather? No extra aches?
Terra - I think after a day or two you should not be having headaches. I would ask to see someone else at the glasses place to make sure they made them correctly.
Susie - sorry to hear you are stuck in that Midwestern rain belt too. :(
Michelle - although I don't know enough to comment, I'd say too that after 10 years it might be time to re-evaluate your medication. However, I also understand that it's tough getting things regulated. Worth a discussion with the doctor I suppose.
The peaches and blueberries I got the other day are fabulous. I gave each of the volunteers at the shop 2 peaches and they were all thrilled. I was not happy when DH called me in the afternoon. I have a doctor's appointment 1 week prior to surgery for a pre-op. Each time this year that I have made an appointment with my doctor, they have called ahead of time to reschedule it because she will not be in the office. This is the third time this year. No problem they said, they can do it with the nurse assistant. Problem is I can't stand the man - he is cocky and a jerk - and I'm not the only one who feels that way. And the lady - well she didn't know I had shingles when I saw her. I really like my doctor but I guess it's time to consider switching to DH's clinic across the street. :rolleyes: Anyway, must run for now. Hello to all the Worldlies.
Laura705 07-08-2015 10:55 AM
Morning all. It’s semi-dreary out there today. Bleh.
Susie – It’s Hump Day, so we’ll be halfway through the workweek soon. :carrot: We’ll get through it. :yes: I’ve also haven’t been exercising lately and my body’s telling me I need to get back to it! I'll probably buy a punch card for the group fitness classes today or tomorrow and get back to it. I’ve also got another 30-day fitness challenge I started yesterday – abs & squats.
Terra – All the headaches don’t sound good – if they don’t go away now that you had the frame adjusted, you should definitely get back to the optometrist because the lenses might not be right for you. Sounds like you’ll be busy for the rest of the week. Enjoy the lunch/movie with your friend and the movie on Sat. with S. :) I had a nice birthday, thanks.
Annie – Wow, that’s a lot of rain. :rain: We had a lot overnight Mon/Tues in our area, but not as much as you. Sorry your veg garden isn’t doing well because of all that rain – what a waste of the effort you put into it. :( It would be nice if this rainy pattern would finally end, and then maybe things could dry out and perhaps you could get a harvest of some sort. :crossed:
Happy – That thought crossed my mind too – where are the folks at the farmers markets getting their produce?? Outside the local area? Actually, I recently read an article about an indoor farm located a ways west of Chicago but still close enough to be considered “local” for all the city restaurants that want their foods locally sourced. One big gigantic greenhouse. Glad the peaches and blueberries are to your liking. What’s with the doctor always rescheduling?! That’s ridiculous!! Okay, she’s a good doctor and you like her, but that’s not much help if you never get to see her!
Hellos to the rest of you! Hope you’re having a good week.
~~
Nothing much to report. As I commented to Susie, I’m starting an abs & squat challenge. One of those 30-day challenges. I noticed it only has one rest day every 9 days – not gonna like that, but I’ll give it a go.
As usual, my right arm & hand was numb when I woke up this morning. But it’s usually fine shortly after I get up. Today it’s still feeling tingly. Another reason to get back to exercise. By exercising I’ll build more muscle and that will increase my circulation and maybe prevent the numbness. So it’s back to the exercise classes for me. Here at work I have a couple old “stress balls” (remember those little Nerf-like balls?). I’ll take mini-breaks and use them to work on strengthening my hand and forearm strength.
Movie night was switched to tonight this week. I didn’t bother to vote, but they chose the movie “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl”. It’s got a good metascore, but I just don’t feel like seeing something with someone dying. So I’ll skip it.
That’s it for me. Have a great day everyone.
Shad 07-08-2015 02:16 PM
Drowning!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No, not in rain. In work. Tomorrow I go to Adelaide and there are some things I must finish today. God help anyone who wants to change things after that. It would be okay if they would just stop changing their minds about things that they want.
So here it is 6am and I am at work. Time to get on with it.
diyana 07-08-2015 02:20 PM
I feel your pain, Shad. The design team has changed, re-changed, and keeps changing the design of the new website. I'm hoping that I now have a finalized design. Now I get to implement it.
miniDoodles 07-09-2015 06:31 AM
Hello there everyone.... I'm alive but my life has been upsetting because I was diagnosed w a autoimmune disease a few months back & after trying a few different RX, I haven't improved.
I'm not giving into emotional whining, that's why I never told anyone here or my family, only my Dh knows, until now. I don't want my sons treating or feeling differently about me.
2 years ago this November when I was in the ER & hospitalized w my bleeding ulcer, I was given a blood transfusion & although the blood is supposed to be very safe, the nurse makes you sign a waiver for consent because there is always a risk. I was in my bed dwindling without any strength being told that the ER doctor said I needed the blood. Now I wish I had said No & let God taken control of my survival. I understand that me receiving tainted blood puts me in the very low percent receiving a condition/disease.
Please forgive me for this post, I haven't given up Hope that my immune system will become Healthy again, that my medical problems are going to Heal.
Some ppl want fame, prestige or wealth, Not me... Ever since I became a gramma, my personal goal is to be at aLL 4 of my grandchildren's High School graduations. This is the only genuine motivation I have to be alive on this earth.
I'm sorry I haven't posted the last week, I'm struggling to feel normal like before. I want my life back like it was 6 months ago & also before my blood transfusion happened.
I'll b back... :hug: Love & hugs to each of u Beautiful, silly, sweet girls. :hug: Dee
I hope your gardens get better & you're having a fun summer.
annie175 07-09-2015 08:06 AM
SHADDIE...CHELLE...I feel your pain on this stinking report, granted it is not the level your pain is with a program and website, but still a PIA.
DEE...praying for you and a healthy recovery. I will also put you on the prayer list at church. I am sorry you are feeling poorly with this. Hugs sweet sister.
LAURA...yes a lot of rain. On the local news they said we have had 12" of rain since June 1st. Also said that the farmers may lose anywhere from 40 to 60% of their crops this year. So I guess my garden is no big deal. Are you sleeping on that arm too long or above your head? Sometimes C gets the tinglies when he sleeps like that.
HAPPY...how was the meeting yesterday? Get anything accomplished with it? My ankle/knees so far are not troubling me with this rain, but I am sure that will be next. lol
Nothing much at home. C got home from his parents around 6:30. He had eaten already so I ate a whole mango by myself and we were both in bed by 7:30. I wasn't feeling up to par yesterday. I tell you there is no middle ground with my bowels, it is either go like crazy or stopped up till my eyes buldge. Once I get going then I can't stop. Must be the meds I take and probably not enough water. I am going to try to up my intake on water.
Make it a great day, hugs to all, and extra hugs too!
diyana 07-09-2015 12:19 PM
I'm so swamped at work which is good...and busy in the evenings too between working out, taking Santa for playtime, and a few writing and web projects I'm working on.
Sorry I'm missing out on all of your lives. I promise I'll try and catch up.
Much love to all,
Laura705 07-09-2015 12:34 PM
Morning all. Another cool overcast morning. We had more rain overnight.
Shad – Safe travels to Adelaide. You need some downtime!!
Michelle – I hope you get the site design implemented with no other changes!
Dee – I’m so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I hope you and your docs find a med that works for you at managing this illness and getting healthy again. :hug: There’s nothing to forgive for your post, and don’t worry about not posting – we’re here!
Annie – That’s awful about the crops. And to think the west coast is in such a bad drought! Yeh, I sleep on that arm. I have to change that. Last night I wedged some throw pillows under my shoulders and did alright. I imagine this will be a trial by error type thing until I figure out a solution. I’m sorry your guts are giving you issues. I hope upping your water intake helps!!
Hellos to the rest of the Worldlies!
As usual, nothing much to report. I did day 2 of the challenge last night. I ate a Trader Joe’s frozen entrée for dinner last night – Vegetable Panang Curry – and boy did it not agree with me digestively speaking. It wasn’t spicy, but maybe too rich? It tasted fine, but it won’t be something I buy again.
Tonight I’ll buy a punchcard and do a class.
That’s all for me. Looks brighter outside - I'll get outside at lunchtime. TTFN.
ceejay52 07-09-2015 01:32 PM
Dee
I feel for you as my cousin has an auto immune disease. She's on a six weeks leave rom her work. Her problem lives with in her adrenal glands plus some other things. Sending you good vibes and prayers. Feel better soon.
Laura
Are you still on Spark People? Like your new cabinet. Wow, two challenges at one time. I need to do something but not sure what.
Annie
I think we are getting the same system of rain that you have. At least we haven't had to water the grass. Hope they can get that report the way they like it. Sorry you are having intestinal problems. Think I've finally got mine I control.
Happy
Love the picture posted on FB of the deer. Hope I can remain as active as you are when I retire.
-------------
My 60 hour work week came to a close yesterday and I have a 4 day week end to look forward to. Hope the rain will stay away for these 4 days. I'm tired. But Shad has 60 hours in 4 days so I can't complain.
Weigh in this morning showed that I was up 2 pounds but that's okay. I'm still 8 pounds down. I am back on track with logging my food which will have to be a must if I lose the weight. My numbers have to match mathematically before I lose weight.
happy2bme 07-10-2015 12:23 AM
Good morning everyone,
Waiting on the washer repair man. He just called, I think I lucked out with the older guy who kind of knows what he is doing. :crossed: He should be here in an hour. As DH and I joked, of course he will not have the part that he needs to fix the washer basket. 3 weeks wait for another service call ;) Those poor guys are so understaffed and overworked, like nurses - it's hard to get mad at them.
I am debating about canning some of the peaches I have. I froze some from last year and they kind of go mushy when you thaw them so you have to use them in pies or smoothies only. They would hold up better if canned. The truck is coming back July 27 to the Eau Claire area - that's a 2 hour drive from here if I need more peaches. While I was standing in line waiting, I was talking to a lady who said she orders the peaches online from the farm supplier. I looked them up - through this "buy off the truck" method, I pay $37 for 25 pounds of peaches. If I was to purchase them directly from the supplier I would pay - no lie here - $120 plus shipping for the same equivalent. :faint: :yikes: No wonder people buy 4 or 6 boxes of these at a time. It's no problem to drive to Eau Claire as DH has some picturesque areas he likes to photograph. So we'll see. The peaches and blueberries are delicious. I also have some rhubarb a friend gave me to cook up with some strawberries for DH. Last night I made a chicken rosemary soup with the leftover roasted chicken carcass (and extra meat) from supper 2 days ago. And I made a pot of the Olive Garden Zuppa Toscano - a light cream based soup with kale, potato slices, bacon and hot Italian sausage and Parmesan cheese. Both soups came out yummy. I have some beef bones to roast up today and make a small pot of vegetable soup. Just making enough for about 4 bowls of each flavor. DH found that he loves the caraway rye bread from the bakery (just like the kind he had as a kid he says) so it makes for a nice on the light side but filling supper.
I am frustrated with the vet's office. Our cat Nina has severe food allergies and only eats a prescription dry cat food. She nibbles treats and takes a passing lick at her sister's wet food but most of her calories come from the dry stuff. We ordered a bag a week and a half ago. Usually it comes in about 4 to 5 days. No bag and they were supposed to call us back and never did. This is prescription stuff so I can't go to the local feed store and pick up a bag anywhere. I have about a half cup of food left and they said because of the holiday they were delayed. I had to get stern on the phone today - it's not like I can give the cat something else. Should I tell her, oh Nina I am sorry but you have to go hungry because I suspect someone forgot to order your food :s They just called back and the food should be in tomorrow and they are going to carry an extra bag at the vet just in case. I was thinking we should order 2 bags but the stuff is almost 50 bucks a bag!
Our meeting went ok yesterday. Half the people who should have been there weren't and we had some others who finally got a chance to speak their mind which was good. I thought it was a successful meeting all in all. In between cooking, I spent the evening typing up the minutes so I could get that off my plate and move on to other stuff. Today I have to do some cooking, laundry if the washer is working, and work on a fundraiser. It's really nice outside - would be a good day to go for an ATV ride or do something fun. I prefer to do stuff during the week rather than deal with the weekend warriors who come up here and act like this is their exclusive digs on Friday to Sunday. It just that Friday seems to roll around awfully quick lately...
Annie - your innards sound like mine - I kind of blame the meds - simple stuff like TUMS will send me rocking and rolling and it seems to take days to stabilize. I took some Pepto Bismal (over the counter stuff) last week Thursday when I got to feeling poorly after the smoke flavor in the bbq ribs and I am still feeling the effects today. :shrug: And with you, you do seem to eat a lot of fresh, healthy stuff so that has to be frustrating. That is terrible about the farmers losing so much of their crops. Will mean even higher prices at the grocery store for us but it is devastating for them. I always thought you had to be a strong, sturdy person in so many ways to be a farmer. I would complain about my office life but it can be so much worse. I hope you get to feeling better.
Dee - I am very sorry to hear of your health woes. You are right, I think we realize later in life when we have to deal with it more - the best thing you can wish for is good health. With the doctors being overburdened and care compromised and today's medications causing so many side effects - it can be downright depressing. And when you are used to being so active and getting sidelined, that takes down even the strongest person. I hear you about the blood - I too did not like the open ended waiver that the hospitals give you to sign. Oh things USUALLY don't happen and it's MOSTLY safe. But still... if you have no accountability how do I know you are doing the most you can to make the blood products safe? Then again, are you sure you contracted this from the blood or is it just bad luck of the draw? I hope you will be ok and that they can find something to manage the disease for you :hug: Keep your spirits up and stay busy so you don't make yourself crazy thinking about it.
Michelle - good luck on the countless redesigns. Oh no, not another one :yikes: THAT's not a tweak, that's a REVAMP! Do you also have to worry about not only computers but android access of your site?
Shad - is it me or is each successive assignment you get more and more fraught with impossible deadlines and a multitude of demands? Seems like they really cranked up the hamster wheel on this one. Are you going to renew the contract?
Laura - I hear you on the lack of exercise. I have not gone to yoga for a month and I can feel everything stiffening and tightening up. I do try to stretch in the morning and I am looking at probably 20 exercise videos I can use to supplement but... oh and there is that pool pass I bought a year ago and still have yet to use. Kick me please. It's good to hear you are doing the fitness challenge again - those seem to be quite demanding and since you have to do them every day, at least you are keeping up with it. As to your question, I am not sure what is going on with the doctor - don't know if she has something going on in her personal life. There are only 2 doctors at the clinic, perhaps she is overwhelmed. That's an interesting idea about growing food under controlled / indoor conditions. Makes sense because when you depend on food - say for a restaurant - you have to deliver (growers) or you lose your livelihood. Have you never gone to the Farmer's Markets downtown in the Civic Center / Daley Plaza - whatever it is called now? I used to break my arms practically hauling far too much produce back to my office on Michigan and Randolph and then truck it back to the train station. But I am a sucker for delicious, fresh produce. I think they even had flowers and crafts stuff last time I saw it which granted was very long ago.
Ok ladies - my apologies. I had to interrupt when the washer guy showed up. He greased some things. I don't see how that in any way will fix the loose basket but I will try a load later and he can come back. He seemed like a nice, competent fellow. And he vacumned out the inside of the dryer - oodles of lint balls. Then we had to run to the shelter to take a picture of a sailboat. Of course we stopped to play with the kitties. They have a wonderful outdoor fenced porch they call "the catio" where they can lounge on beds and enjoy the fresh air and outside flying things. Then into town for errands. Then we went to another town an hour away so I could go to Kohls and return my too big but otherwise perfect omlette pan set. Had dinner at the Chinese buffet but I hardly ate much - didn't feel well. DH chowed down for me. Home, had to make some phone calls, had to check and respond to emails regarding the purchase of the thrift shop. Had to read real estate contracts. I just sat down to watch a little tv when DH announced that he'd REALLY like to leave quite early tomorrow for a road trip so that he can get flowers in the early morning light. Oy vay. :faint. So now I have to hurry and get the dishes in the dishwasher, clean the cat box, take a quick shower and try and fall asleep fast. I apologize missing some of you on personals. I will check back in tomorrow night. Oh and we have to get home early enough to pick up Nina's prescription cat food which I HOPE will be in as they say since I am going away for a while tomorrow and leaving them with a scant half cup of food for both of them. Sorry kitties :o Anyway - goodnight all. Talk to you tomorrow.
