Good Afternoon! It's another warm afternoon here, but not as warm as yesterday. The mosquitoes and flies were awful at the game last night. Ian's team won, he had several outs at 1st base, and a nice home run which was fun.
I had lunch bunch this noon. The waitress was "new" to us; an older gal, overweight, ratty turning gray hair in a wad on top of her head, and black eye make-up put on with a spoon. Her voice was scratchy, for lack of a better term, like she is/was a smoker. She just looked tough! Am I being CATTY or what? She took our drink order (all ordered water), and took forever to bring them. Then another half hour went by and she came back for food orders. It's the same menu each month, so we all knew what we wanted when we ordered our water. Food finally comes, we wait some more then she brings our bills clumped together in one folder instead of individual folders like we usually get, so we had to figure out which belonged to who. One gal always uses a credit card, one uses a gift card, two use cash, and I write a check. She finally comes back with a hand full of bills. She tries to hand the whole handful to one gal and she is the math teacher no less! So the teacher says, "this is not right, my bill was $7.62 and I gave you a $20. The waitress got flustered, took the money back, and said, "high finance isn't my bag!" Then she took a few bills off the pile and asked if that was right. It wasn't. She had no coins to make the rest of the change come out right. She finally said she'd round it down to $7 and call it good. We all looked at each other and rolled our eyes. I doubt she will be there the next time we go in July.
Bob is out at the farm. The landlord decided to remove some cement floors from old hog buildings, a few trees, and then bury them in a 25' hole. Farmer friend Rich could plant a few more rows of beans and Bob was going to make sure the beans get in the holes like they are supposed to. Not sure when I will see him tonight.
Maggie, the game was fun except for the bugs. There is one little guy on the team who barely comes mid-chest on Ian, who is 5'8". The pitchers have a hard time pitching to him, but when he hits, the ball really flies. As the game was finishing a truck spraying repellent (?) drove around and through the park. We were very impressed with the little town! The older homes were well taken care of and updated, an area of new homes that weren't all alike and had good sized yards, a nice park with what looked like a new pool and playground equipment, three different denominational churches that we drove by, and an industry (NOT a packing plant) that Jason said employs around 600 people. There was a nice Main Street with shops, a restaurant, grocery store, po, etc. There is a town square and as we drove into town I pointed out the steeple saying there is a huge church thinking it was probably Catholic. As we got closer, it is the court house! We both said we could live there, about 30 minutes from Sioux Falls. The cats like cold water from the fridge, never thought about putting ice in it.
I need to change clothes and clear off the counter. Enjoy the rest of your day and evening!
