Hello Ladies,
Trying to get back on track with my eating. I have purchased candy for this Friday, & of course I had to open some bags to do a taste check... Just in case your wondering... hummmmm good... Thin - I'm really not sure what they are... a neighbor said they were gekcos? All I know they are little lizards... and they are everwhere outside... When I pull up at the drive way, there are probably 20 just sitting on the garage door. I guess I should look up to make sure they don't do any harm to the house... LittleChick - sounds like you are going to be pretty busy tonight...The cupcakes wouldn't be as tempting to me as the frosting. Cat - I'm here... how is your day going? Hope everyone is having a great day! |
Hi Everyone,
It's great to see so many of us posting today. That is really what we must do. I still have not gotten into my regular routine. I thought perhaps I would start November 1st. However, I did walk on the treadmill two separate times yesterday burning off 260 calories total. I also plan on walking this evening while watching my favorite program "24". Finally the weather in Phoenix is cool and we have not had to use the air-conditioner since Sunday. What a relief. I believe this will give me some incentive to do some very serious housecleaning and perhaps some painting on the inside. When it is so hot I just don't have the energy to do anything extra. I embroidered four shirts for our bowling team and today was the first day we wore them, and they brought us luck because we took all the points. I really enjoy bowling--I only wish I could do better, however, I do get a lot of exercise doing it. Michelle -- I hope everything is going well for you! Take care and have a "super" week! Anita |
hi chickies. Oneday- the frosting was a big temptation. And so is all the dam candy around this house. Why can't I give out apples or toothbrushes. LOL

Mornin' chickies - the weather is not so nice here today but I don't feel so bad about the rain when I think of those poor folk in California............ they could do with having some rain. I heard on the weather forecast yesterday that they may get some rain soon. I have not been walking since Monday night and I won't get tonight as I have to go to my painting class. Eating is good but could still be better ............ I will keep on trying and someday I may get it right. At least when I keep on trying the weight stays the same ............. if I stopped trying I would put on more:( Woops gotta go get ready for work .............. Have a nice day all. Blessings in disguise If you look at your problems as problems, they will continue to hold you down. See them instead as blessings in disguise, and that is what they will truly become. If you treat the challenges as excuses for failure, you'll have plenty of excuses but not much else. Approach those challenges instead as pathways to success, and that is precisely what they will be. There is more than enough richness in life for all those who are willing to recognize it. That richness most often comes wrapped in challenge so as to keep its value intact. For if the good things in life had no cost at all, they would not be worth very much. It is the effort, the discipline, the commitment to overcome any challenge, that makes a dream worth reaching. So whatever stands in the way of your dream is really a blessing in disguise. For when you work your way through it, you arrive at the place you most want to be. -- Ralph Marston |
Hello Chicks~~Just popping in to say HI to everyone...and i'm still praying for some good news on the fires in CA.
Our snow melted overnight due to rain, and it took till about 11 for the rains to stop. I've been pretty busy inside all morning, course i don't get alot accomplished, but i feel like i've tried! Tomorrow we need to go get groceries as we are low on alot of stuff. I've been making alot of the yummy squashes that are available at this time of year. One i did whole on the grill(just punch some holes in it and wrap in foil) and one the same way in the oven. I think they are better for some reason when cooked w/the seeds in and then scooped out before serving. I don't know if it's just my imagination or not, but i had some very tasty butternut and acorn squash this way. When i made the butternut DH thought for sure it was sweetened w/brown sugar or sweet n low or something. I said NOPE, it's just that tasty on it's own. I think it was cause it was cooked whole and for a very long time till it nearly fell apart! ~~NITA~~i have seen that the temps your way have finally moderated a bit. 90 today will seem great after all the 110 degree days! The guy we drove down in June with is there in Mesa now, finalizing his purchase of his new home. We wished him well about 1 week ago...talk about an excited guy. He will be about 2 blocks from my MIL and in that same village(sunland springs). The houses are built great there, and now they put the bug tubes in the walls and the floors so they can keep termites out. Everyone is mostly worried about "didn't you see rattlers and scorpions in Arizona???" when the real culprits are those termites. They can really chew up the wood in no time. I can see why they use as little as possible in the new construction of these homes. Lots of steel 2X4's...and then the block and stucco must help too. Nothing much is selling up here however. Our property is still sitting available for purchase and the above mentioned guy cannot sell his house --and it's on a pretty nice lake in the area. It's just a 2 bedroom and i guess the ones looking want 3 bedroom now. He has had it listed for 8 months i think and still no hard bites. Well, i hope i will hear from a few more on here later. I will check back. Stay :strong: and OP~~ i need to do a weigh-in check at least. I feel the same, but i certainly don't want to start going up, as MOOZ says it's just too darned easy to do that! All for now dear chicks~~ :grouphug:  thinlizzie |
Hello chicks:wave: How is everyone doing? I am great. I am working out everyday, either walking or the gym. However I really need to watch what I am eating! That is always the hard part for me. I am trying to get back on track and have joined the new years challenge. Can you believe only 9 weeks to go? Where does the time go? Anyways, wanted to check in and wish you all a great OP Wed..... Michelle....   for you and your family... Sherry :ink: :flow2: :grouphug:  |
Just stopping by to wish our chicks a fantastic Thursday~~~
ChaCha~~things sound great with you. :bravo: for keeping up w/the exercise you've found works for you! I know how close Christmas feels...so much to do inbetween...it's no wonder it's hard for us to control each meal! But our good habits must tide us over. I am going to buy alot of good veggies today and i pledge to eat alot more of them daily. Weather is gray and supposed to rain, but off we go to do a big groc. shopping--so when you are indoors you don't see what kind of day it is anyway! Hi to all the rest of the great chicks!! :strong: :grouphug: thinlizzie |
HELLOOOOO...anyone out there?
I guess i'll post a quick one just to bump us up to the top and wish you all a very fun and safe Halloween. We might dress up and go to DH's sisters for a party tomorrow night. If we both feel a little better. We both have some kind of cold. But we must be nearing the end of it now. Plus it hasn't put us right out of things, we still keep movin. I just made some funny looking sugar free oatmeal cookies. When you start changing the recipe they never turn out real nice, but they still taste good. I used one of his diabetic "candy" bars...the new ones w/the sugar-alcholol so it's supposed to be zero grams of sugar. I guess it digests different. He loves that he can have them as a snack. He only uses them for between meals when he is working hard and his sugar gets a little low. Well chicks, i hope you all have a great day and stay :strong:  :grouphug: thinlizzie |
Happy Halloween!
Had a scare Wednesday night, my dad called & he was feeling real weak & had a major headache. He didn't want to go to the hospital, but we made him go. Stayed up their from 9pm to 3:00am... they ran all kinds of tests but everything looked good, so they released him. Anyway, I didn't get much sleep, came on in to work. My eating has been terrible the last two days. Too much candy around the house & here at work. I am getting back on track tomorrow... November will be a weight loss month for me.. Thin - I had looked at some low carb a while back & on them it showed where the carbs didn't count... something like "net carbs" I'm not sure if i'm using the right term. Do you know anything about that? Hope you have fun at your sister party... Chacha - I can't believe there are only 9 weeks left til the end of the year. Just think 1 lb a week... would be 9 lbs lost... We know we can do it... it's just sticking to a program & doing it. Hope everyone is having a great day! |
Good afternoon everyone,
Well I am also having a hard time getting back on track. I do believe tomorrow will be a better day. By chance did anyone see Entertainment Tonight the last couple of nights. If you did you would have seen this anerexia young woman on there. She is 5 ft. 6 in. and weighs 58 lbs. It is so sad to see her. She looks at least 80 years old or more. You don't really see a person, just a lot of bones. It's going to continue this weekend and a woman who wears a size 14 is trying to help her. She has been in treatment several times but nothing has worked. She is literally killing herself. When she speaks you can hardly understand what she is saying. I believe it could be a wakeup call for those of us trying to lose weight. I am going to the gym and still bowling 5 or 6 times a week. In fact at 3:00 today my DH is going to go with me so I can practice. I really want to be a better bowler and it takes a lot of practice and concentration. It is really cool here in Phoenix and it is raining at this very moment. Well I had better get moving so I can get these e-mails out of the way. Hopefully everyone is having a "super" weekend! Hey Everyone...!!!! Hope everyone is enjoying the last minutes of a beautiful, and in Kentucky unseasonably warm Fall. I just love this time of year. I do see special challenges ahead, and they began yesterday with endless candy from the students!!! The strange part, is by days end I had been given exactly one of each of my favorites a plain Hersheys, Snickers, Butterfinger, Reeces Peanut Butter Cup and a few bakery treats!! Even though they were the mini holiday versions, they were still bad!!! I know everything in moderation and plan for these splurges or as a friend said, 'Times of extreme enjoyment." I have to make this post short because I am due at school this Saturday to run the hospitality room for a basketball send off to open the season. It will keep me at school until 11P. I have vowed to be out by then... last year it was midnight. So, as you can imagine I am running on empty, but still stopping in here for a quick peek and hello to all of my good friends. Thanks for your support! ;) |
Mornin' chickies - sorry I have not posted in a few days but I seem to find it hard staying on track at the moment. My eating has not been good and I am starting to panic as it is only a few weeks until Christmas and once again I have not lost any weight.:( What is up wit me - why can I not take better care of myself? A niece of mine is getting her baby christened today and DH and myself are invited to it and to a meal in a local hotel afterwards. It is a carvery and I just don't know how I will behave with my eating - I seem to have lost some of the control that I had. My 6 months work wll be up soon and at the moment, due to funding, I will not be kept on. In March again when new plns will be afoot they may call on me again. In one way I am glad as I will have more time to go out walking and painting ......... heaven :) but I will miss the extra money. Gotta go now Effort works It's amazing what some good, sustained effort can do. Effort is far more effective than worrying, far more effective than complaining that things aren't going your way. Whether the situation is wonderful or whether it is dismal, focus on what you can actually do with it. Focus on where your efforts can be put to best use. Don't let the details of what has already happened cause you to lose sight of the efforts necessary to move forward. Direct your attention to what you can do now. Then go ahead and make the effort. Go beyond wishing, thinking about it, planning to do it, and just get started. Positive effort will make a far more meaningful difference than arguing about who is to blame. If you feel passionate about the situation, put the energy of that passion to good use, by putting it into positive, productive effort. Always remember that your effort can take you where you want to go. The faster you start, the sooner you'll be there. -- Ralph Marston |
Hello chickies, sorry I have not posted in awhile but the week just got away from me. And I have not been a good little chickie:shrug: I am writing this after eating a piece of cheesecake:hun: I really need to get myself back in control. It seems like everyone else is in the same boat. What are we going to do to get back ourself control. We need to think of some challenge to get us back on track. Anyone with any great ideas? Well I must get going, I need to finish checking my emails before I go off to bed. Hope everyone is having a great night. Take care all.

Hi Little Chick,
I finally got on the ball today and put my scale under my bed. This is one of my bad habits--using the scale as the judge. By just thinking positive and eating properly, I had so much energy that I just couldn't stop! It is really amazing when your attitude changes to positive all of a sudden things start clicking. I started off by bowling three practice games with my friends. I then came home and decided to get up on a tall ladder and clean the stucco on my house as you come in the door. I then proceeded to wash to car; and then I hemmed curtains for my bedroom and took the others down and washed them and re-hung them with the new curtains in the middle--it really came out very elegant. In about 30 minutes I am going to go out and walk on the treadmill while watching "American Dreams." In between all this I even found time to make lunch and re-heat dinner. Whatever you do, do not beat yourself up about not eating correctly. Remember we are human beings and sometimes we just get off track. The fact that we get back on is what is really important. If you had seen the lady on ET who weighs 58 lbs., it really makes you think twice about letting yourself go. Well I had better get off my soapbox but remember also, we are in this together and we will meet our goals. It may take more time than we thought but it can most defnitely be done. Take care and my the rest of my friends have a "super" week! Anita |
good evening
Nita--WTG on putting the scale under the bed!! Man, wish you could bottle some of that energy and send it here.
VEry sad about the anorexic woman. I wonder about the tastefulness of putting her on TV--would they show someone dying of cancer? Hal--your treat is not "bad" if you planned for it and enjoyed it. LC--try to keep posting even if you're not doing as well as you'd like. (I am trying to do same. I have done better on my yoga, but afraid I have been slacking on my walking because my foot hurts. My podiatrist gave me a couple of things to try, and I think maybe the latest is working. ) Mooz--I can see your mixed feelings about your job--but maybe this will be a good chance to take care of yourself for a while. DH gets out of the cervical collar tomorrow, and hopefully DMiL will be home also. (She's now in the rehab unit of our local hospital.) I got annoyed with DH because I decided he needed the cell phone because he is commuting, and I don't need it now. So I gave it to him, and all he said was, "Now I'll have to add money to it." (Incidentally, I had put $25 on it last week--it's a pre-pay). But finally he did say thank you, but it was not his finest moment. Oh, well, those who know me may think I could use just the teeniest bit of improvement also. I need to get up early tomorrow to have breakfast with a friend, so I'd better get to bed. Love to Chacha, 1day, and everyone else I've left out. |
