  • Ceejay ~ Oh okay I'll add you on My Fitness Pal. Scott isnt on my fitness pal he isnt dieting or working out.

    Annie ~ Thanks, I am gonna have a great day today. I hope you have a great day today too.

    Happy ~ Sometimes its hard to sleep at night if I took a nap during the day but usually I dont have a problem with falling asleep at night even if I take a nap during the day.

    Susie ~ Hi, How are you doing today? I hope your having a great day.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I woke up at 7:30 this morning so just like 9 mins ago. My plans for today are to walk outside for 30 mins to an hour and fold and put away my clothes. Mom and I are gonna pick up Scott at work at 3 today and then we're gonna go to my mom's bank and pull out money for the mortgage and then we're gonna go to Walmart to do our monthly shopping and then we'll come home and put away the food and non food items and then we will figure out what we're gonna do for dinner.
  • Good morning. We have a little bit of rain this morning but not the thunder showers we had all day yesterday. I really didn't mind them. When I was outside yesterday evening, everything looked and smelled so fresh. It was like God washed the world!
    Both me and DH are off work today. We get it as a holiday. We will go to the Easter musical at church tonight. Today we are just doing some house cleaning and laundry. Tomorrow we have an oil change scheduled at the dealer in Dayton and I want to go to DSW. Time to shop for some more sandals and flats. I bought 3 pair of sandals at JC Penny the week before last. They are more dressy for work, and so I need a couple for church and then a couple of just casual weekend attire and I want some flats too. Going to cost some $$ but I figure that I have worked enough OT to justify it.
    My new recumbent bike came yesterday. I'm so excited about my work out room. Last night DH was on the treadmill and I did the bike. I only did it for 10 min..didn't want to stir up that spot that is healing and then I did some of my PT exercises. It was a nice little workout.
    Happy: I hope your travels are save and you enjoy every bit of your time with your mom.
    Annie: My DH keeps saying to me "I can't believe the final 4 is in Indy and I'm not there". He lives for college basketball. Your Easter dinner sounds nice and having it on Saturday will leave you time to enjoy church on Sunday and then just relax.
    Michelle: You have been a very busy lady. When I was reading your post I was thinking about how the timing to have your surgery and all the work you did to get ready for it and since was perfect timing. God knew you had a lot coming down the pipe and He gave you the time and means to get healthy so you would have energy and be able to do all the things you have been doing.
    I think your plan to use 4 hrs of the day to job search and 4 hours to drum up freelance work/or work on that is a very smart direction to go in. I'm sure that you will have work soon.
    I forgot you were going to see Sir Elton! I bet it was amazing. My favorite Elton John song is "Crocodile Rock" because it has my name in it!
    Dee: I am praying for your April 10th appointment. It sounds like you had a great time with your grandbabies and it's nice you will have a few days of down-time.
    The doctor I am seeing is actually a dermatologist but specializes in wound care of the skin/body. They do call the clinic a "Wound Care clinic" and so he is the "wound doctor".
    Terra: Enjoy your walk today. It's nice to go early in the morning.
    Hi Laura--I hope your day is a good one.
    Hi Shad--do you get a long weekend away from work? I hate to admit that I don't know how your holiday's work. I know that my London colleagues will be off work on Monday for Easter Monday.
    I better get of this computer and get to moving. I want the house cleaned by Noon and then I'm going to do a self-pedicure and maybe take a nap.
  • YES SUSIE....Your DH would of had free lodging, you can rub that into his can't believe he is not here. lol. My house is about 15 minutes from all the hoopla.
  • Morning all.
    Dee – Glad your grandson enjoyed Cinderella. Now that I think about it, he might have enjoyed Cinderella’s "physical attributes", LOL. Awww, sorry to hear your hubby will be gone again this weekend. Sweet of him to be worried about you running into a deer on the road. I say just be very careful and avoid driving during dawn/dusk/dark times of day. Re rubber boots – yes, better than needing snow/winter boots!!! Thanks for the input on the cars!
    Happy – I hope you’re having a good drive today, and that the vertigo doesn’t bother you. Thanks for the information about your car and the features. Neither bf nor I do a lot of driving in the car, so I don’t think navigation or satellite radio are that critical for us. But like you said, the various models have various features packages and you don’t get to pick/choose like in the olden days, and most packages have more than you want/need. I’m alright with using my cell phone’s google maps app in lieu of navigation, but I think the models bf is interested in (both US-made, BTW) come with navigation. A Garmin unit would be handy for switching between cars as needed. I can see how the on-star type service would be a good thing to have out by you. Bummer about that design flaw re your rear roof/windshield. Was it the first model year of a redesign? I’d really like to have a remote starter…speaking of, bf’s mom has a vw and if I recall, either it can’t be done, or VW offers it only through the dealership. They also don’t sell windshield wipers for her vw at an auto supply store – have to get them through the dealership. I didn’t know that VW was like that ‘til bf’s mom bought the car at the end of her lease and had to start paying for stuff herself. Re the rubber boots – the ones I have don’t have any support, and I don’t wear them enough for long periods of time to bother putting one of my pairs of custom orthotics into them. The boots, however, are handy for the yard. For walking/commuting I should check into a pair of rubber shoes, some type that laces or buckles so the fit can be a bit more secure.
    Annie – Sorry to hear about your friend from Humana losing her hubby. And just when she was going to retire. Very sad. That shrimp parmesan dish sounds tasty. Did you find a recipe for it yet so you can make it at home? Let us know how the ham turns out in the crock pot. We’re also having ham for Easter and will use the Nesco roasting pan for it so we have room in the oven to do the taters (scalloped from scratch), green bean casserole (bf’s fave) and whatever rolls we end up making. Angeled eggs, lol. I like that. I’ll have to make time to boil & dye some eggs…and I might hop over to the Dollar Tree to make up some small baskets/goody bags for our dinner guests – bf’s mom and my friend D and her sis. Gosh, yes, I should think tourists might shy away from Indy with the exploding manholes and that religious freedom law causing such a kerfuffle.
    Shad – Glad you’re keeping busy now. You’re into your weekend now – hope you had a good flight back home and that you’re having a good weekend.
    Ceejay – enjoy your OT pay. How do you like your hair cut? Did you buy anything good at Barnes & Noble?
    Terra – Any special plans for Easter? Hope the shopping goes okay. I should think the stores will be busy today and tomorrow!
    Susie – Glad the wound doc said you’re on the mend now. Congrats on your new exercise bike – saw the pic on fb. Bet you can’t wait until you’re more healed so you can start using it! I’ll keep an eye out for a pm or email from you re KI. Looking forward to it! Enjoy your shoe shopping today!
    Michelle – Nice sendoff for Bob, may he rest in peace and his family and friends keep his memories alive. Nice you had a short getaway to Vegas. Glad you enjoyed Elton John. So very talented! Bf and I have seen him twice, with Billy Joel. Great shows. Good plan for the job search and freelancing. I know you’ll find something suitable soon.
    ~~
    Let’s see, I’ll start with Wednesday. I got home from work and changed clothes for yogalaties class. Bf had the car, however, and didn’t get back until my class had already started. I was ticked at him, but it wasn’t too late, so I drove over to class. Only to find that class was cancelled. I was steamed about that because I hadn’t gotten an e-mail warning me. When I got home, I found a message on our landline phone that came in around 4:30, saying class was cancelled due to a family emergency for the instructor. I wish I’d checked for messages, but I didn’t notice the blinking light. I also wished bf had been home to get the call so he could tell me, LOL. I suppose I’ll have to watch for that, or get the school district to add my cell phone number to their records.
    Anyway, I was already in workout clothes, so back at home, I did the 4th 15-min. segment of the pilates dvd, working the thighs. That was the most challenging one of all of them IMO. It moved very fast and was full of sun salutations and lunges, squats and plies. I was sweating a bit by the time it ended!
    Re the icemaker – the tech who came to the house the other day didn’t find anything wrong with it. He believes a piece of ice may have blocked the water inlet or the sensor or something and caused the water to keep flowing. As of now, it’s up and running fine. To be on the safe side, we’re going to be careful not to pile up too much food on the top freezer shelf that’s right beneath the icemaker. The thought is that it redirects the cold air flowing into the freezer and might mess with how the ice maker works. For now, all’s well, except we’re out the cost of the tech’s visit, $62.
    Yesterday I did a Piloxing class at the recplex because I wanted a break from the circuit class. I like this instructor better than the other two I’ve had for past piloxing classes I’ve taken, so I might actually do this one again. It was a good sweaty workout. About half the class (and the instructor) wore weighted gloves. I bet that really increases the challenge, because my arms were feeling it without any extra weight. It was good to be in a studio with the mirrors – wake up call to get my act together with trying to lose this excess weight!!!
    I don’t recall if I mentioned my cell phone issues – when the phone would get down to 30% battery level, it would go into power save mode and turn off/down a bunch of settings – wi-fi, Bluetooth, auto rotate, brightness and volume. It would also switch over from mute or vibrate to sound. So all that would happen unless/until I would plug in the battery charger. I’d checked through a bunch of my settings to no avail. Very, very annoying. Bf kept saying I needed to do a system reset, but first needed to back up everything onto the Galaxy software. Well, yesterday bf decided I’d put if off long enough and took it to a tech at the ATT store while I was at my exercise class. Turns out it wasn’t a faulty update that caused the issue, it was a setting in my AVG (anti-virus) app! So no reset needed and now I can let my battery completely die out if I want without all the settings going wonky. Yay!!
    I know this will sound silly, but somehow I misplaced one of my combs last night after using after I showered last night. It's driving me nuts that I can't find it anywhere. I'm sure as soon as I buy another, it'll turn up.
    Our office will close at 3 pm today. There’s a special express train at 2:25 that I probably won’t be taking, but I’ll try for an express that leaves at 3:45. I’ll go home and do some house cleaning or shopping. We’re having bf’s mom over for Easter dinner on Sunday, as well as my friend and her sister.
    Tomorrow I’m meeting a friend for breakfast, and after that I have a hair appointment. After that will probably be more work around the house, including making a dessert for Easter.
    That’s about it for now. Time to post! Have a good weekend and a good holiday everyone.
  • Morning all,
    Sorry to be MIA but things have been a bit hectic around the joint.
    It's raining AGAIN, never seen such a late wet season here. Generally the rain is gone about mid March.
    I'm home for the long weekend and I have been catching up on the neighbours doings, the family doings, and sorting out stuff for my last week down south. Funnily enough I now have people coming to me asking me not to leave. And I see that they have replaced me with 2 people. Good stuff that. Meantime the project lurches on from one crisis to another. Biggest problem is lack of planning, organisation, and lack of communication. Everyone says a lot, but it doesn't always gel and you find some one else doing already doing the work you were asked to do (because they were asked by someone else). There is yet to be any formal documentation done for training - which starts next week and they still haven't got a full system to train on. One is due to come on line this weekend but it needs testing etc to ensure it works properly. That should take some time.
    Enough of work. The garden smells delicious at the moment. With all the rain we have had, the Murraya (mock orange blossom) has come into full flower and the place reeks of orange blossom. Unfortunately the rain and the heat are forcing the weed seeds to sprout as well and it is all I can do to keep up with them. Can't poison due to the wet so I try to get to them before they flower, but can't always manage it.
    Today will be long overdue housework in the bathroom, loo and laundry. I did get a new vacuum last weekend. Put it together yesterday. It's a Bosche and it really is quiet. So far seems to work well but I have to work on changing the heads on it because they are so tight I can't get them off.
    It also has self cleaning filters - so I will have to work out how that works. It seems that you press a button and the filter swivels 180 degrees and puts the clean side to the dirt. The dirty side then gets sucked clean. Yeah well we will see how that works.
    In the meantime, I had better go get on with it. Lots to do and I have some shopping I need to do today. Yes we do get the 4 days off. I don't go back to work until Tuesday morning.
    And while I think about it, I won't be taking up the next job in Melbourne. It was just too hard logistically since it is on the other side of the city from the airport and will take too long to get there on a Monday and I would only manage to make the last flight home on a Thursday. So I am jobless for a while. These things have a habit of working out and I don't mind some downtime.
    Catch you all tomorrow when I definitely will do personals.
  • My doctor's visit was good and bad. The tick is gone. I had them to x-ray my wrist, the one I hurt when I fell off the bicycle last month. It's still swollen and tender. It showed a crack in the bone. Dr. said that it's healing good and that it was to late to put a splint or cast on it. Told me that next time I hurt myself this bad to come in then not later. I do have a bladder infection and he gave me Cipro for three days, 2 per day, morning and evening. And he told me to lay off the Cokes. I have become a Cocaholic.
    I really like the person who cut my hair. Not to many listen and do as they want. She did exactly what I wanted.
    Next I went to Barnes and Noble. I had heard that my nieces husband had puzzles there. I love his at work. Guess this will be my past time when I retire.
    I spent the night with my friend.
    This morning I took her to her physical therapy session. Then to Walmart to buy groceries. I came home and have been doing nothing since then. I did cook dinner.
    My step niece corrected my sentence that I used on the picture of the puzzles I posted on FB. What can I say!!!!!!!
  • I'm up watching the late news to get sleepy, but it's depressing so I stayed awake to read to relax. Our son phoned me today asking me to come w them to Milwaukee, I told him I couldn't do the 5 hours getting there Friday night & 5 hours back Sunday, that's too much sitting & would cause sciatic pain in my right leg & foot again. I could tell he's concerned about me & Friday.
    I ran into a friend today that told me about her niece's home burning down Monday night, they lost everything. She's 27 years old w a 3 year old & 5 month old baby girls. The fire happened while she & her husband were sleeping & their Verizon cell phone charger overheated, in the room next to their girls bedroom. Because they're a young married couple struggling with bills, their insurance policy is only on their home structure; no extra coverage for appliances or furniture contents or personal belongings except a $3,000 relocation allowance.
    Their receiving donations, but don't have a home yet. The young wife is still traumatized, afraid to fall asleep in a home of their own again. They're living w different relatives & she keeps feeling the electric cords for heat wherever they are. It's so sad... I told my dh about them & now he gets why I always unplug our small kitchen cooking appliances except his coffee maker w a timer & now we won't go to sleep or leave home with anything on a charger after their tragedy.
    I'm sorry if I'm boring U, but maybe someone reading about their fire could possibly save another family from losing their home or being injured in a fire from a electric cord or appliance overheating while sleeping. I don't mind ppl reminding me about things because life does get crazy-busy for all of us
    Have a fun weekend & try not to get a BIG tummy ache eating up your Easter basket candy Dee
  • Susie ~ I didnt work out yesterday but I'll be sure to do it today.
    Laura ~ We are gonna have a mini Easter dinner. Do you have any plans for Easter tomorrow?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    I woke up at 8:00 a.m. this morning and its now 1:23 p.m. We'll see if mom gets off after 2 p.m. today. The power is out by her work so they might be just as business as they were yesterday. We had a bad storm night before last so thats why the power is out in some parts of town. We might go to the Chinese buffet for dinner tonight. I hope we do I've been craving Craw-fish/ Craw-Dad's.
  • Hi Everyone. It's been a full day. When I get done posting, I need to go paint my toes in case I decide to wear sandals with my dress tomorrow for Easter. If not, my sling back taupe shoes will work. They have kitten heels. I have slowly been replacing all my high heels with those. Trying to be stylish and yet kind to my knees and hips.

    We got the oil in the car changed today--nice thing about it was that it was free! The first two oil changes for the new car is free--well...I did have to buy a new car to get the "free" oil change!

    I got some great shoe shopping done today at DSW. I bought 3 pair of flats, and six pair of sandals. I think I'm set---and broke!

    I would like for all of you to keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I had my 6 month blood work done on Thursday and they called with the results on Friday.

    It turns out my blood calcium number is high and my Vit D is low despite being on prescription Vit D. This is usually a sign that that the parathyroid gland has a tumor one or all 4 of those glands. They are usually benign, from what I read.

    She had me go get a blood draw this weekend at the hospital and I should know Monday is those numbers show something is wrong with the parathyroid. I am scared to death! I have been trying to keep my mind of it and praying a lot.

    I finally got my home office organized and dusted. It feels so nice to sit here and feel like things are in place in this room.

    Now, the closet that is in here is another story! But that will be another day!!

    Shad: Your new vacuum sounds nice. If that filter works that way, I might have to buy one. That sounds pretty slick!

    Dee: What a sad story about that young couple. Thank goodness everyone got out of the house. Things can be replaced...people can not.

    Are you enjoying your quiet "at home" time? I am still praying for you and your appointment on April 10.

    Annie: I just showed my DH your message.....he was like..."you have got to be kidding me!". He is glued to the TV. I also told him that you made egg noodles for Easter Dinner Saturday night...he loves homemade noodles....I think he thinks you are the perfect woman right now! hahahahha!! my poor DH..... lol

    Laura: I am one who doesn't check my home phone machine very often as well. I usually give my cell phone # to everyone that I want to hear from. I don't even tell doctor offices, and such that I have a home number and if I have gone there a long time I give them my cell # and tell them we don't have the home # anymore and ask them to take it out of their system.

    That is good news that the fridge repair wasn't to expense..other than the water damage and the service call. It's always something.

    I do love my new bike. I rode it 10 min yesterday and 10 min today. I'm starting to heal very well from the cyro surgery wound...but I'm taking it easy and not irritating that spot, or trying not to.

    I'll reach out to you and Annie next week on FB messenger about KI.

    Ceejay: I'm so glad that you went to the doctor! I can't believe you were even functioning with a UTI...they kill me! Also, that is crazy about you wrist! However I did the same thing with my hand a few months back and I got the same "come in sooner than later" speech from my Ortho.

    That's awesome that you like your hair cut...nothing is worse than not liking your hair.

    Terra: I haven't been to a Chinese Buffett in a long time but I think it sounds pretty good. For me, it's all about the veggies...since I don't eat meat, or chicken or fish or Craw-fish/ Craw-Dad's. Did you guys end up going there?

    Hi to Happy and Michelle.

    I better go get these toes painted. I'm not sure I'll be posting tomorrow ...Happy Easter everyone!
  • This has been a good day and a bad day. We had a good turn out at lunch with my uncles. Had some cousins to come also. At lunch one of my cousins had a phone call stating that one of our good friends was killed in a car wreck. He was about a year and a half older than me.
    My cousin posted a very good picture of my three uncles on FB. I shared it.
    Also today we went to check on my aunt's house who is in Texas. Everything was good there. The lawn needs to be mowed. I changed the light bulb on the front porch. Also went to see their neighbor that I have known all of my life. She's been in poor health.
    Happy Easter everyone.
    ------
    Susie
    It's been tough going this week but I do feel better with the antibiotics that I'm taking. It was a hard choice on going to Jonesboro to see the doctor there.
  • Good morning ladies,

    Just a quick check in to wish you a Happy Easter. I hope you're all doing well!

    I'll be going over to my step-mom's for Easter dinner.

    I've managed to come down with a cold...seems like I always do after I fly somewhere.

    That's about all the news for me.

    Lots of love to all,
  • Hi everyone,

    Happy Easter to you all. I hope you will all have a good holiday with friends and family or just you and the Easter Bunny if that's the case.

    I got in here just fine, we made great time and had a pleasant trip. Going back it looks like there's lots of rain headed in, not sure if we will head back early to avoid it. Mom was VERY surprised and equally happy to see me at the door. We are having a great time together.

    My sister just announced that I have to get the computer off the table as we are about to eat shortly and I have to set the table. I will try and get back on later tonight.

    Hope you are all having a great day!
  • Happy Easter every one. Today has been a good day with family. I'm exhausted. In fact I had to stop half way home because my eyes were burning so badly I couldn't see. Stopped at a Sonic and got some caffeine and an ice cream cone. I think I was to tired to be driving.
  • Happy Easter to you all. Hope you are all having a good break.

    I've been busy with the house cleaning so I don't come home next week to a dusty grubby house. Getting the packing done now so I can go down to Melbourne for the final week.

    Went out to lunch today for a friends birthday. We had a good ol' chat and a reasonable meal. Now I am back home again to get ready for tomorrow.

    That's about it from me. Haven't been anywhere or done anything exciting. I'll catch up again tomorrow.
  • Happy Easter Monday and night for you SHADWICK!!

    Our Easter "Saturday" was quite nice. I was not feeling up to snuff and was even carrying a slight fever. 101. It broke during the night Sat and all is well. Don't know what the hey that was about. Jacob and Royce had a great time hunting for Easter eggs. I hid them on my porch as the yard was just to darn soggy from the snow/rain in the past. The "golden" egg had 5 bucks in it. lol. It was actually a yellow, oversized plastic egg. Church on Sunday was extra nice. Sissy and family joined us for the first time ever. Royce slept in my lap the entire time. Of course I was in church and heaven. Yesterday afternoon was leftovers for dinner, laundry, dishes, general cleaning. Then we relaxed to a couple of rented movies. Bed came at around 8pm, but was up and down till 9 finishing up the laundry.

    Posting before I lose it. Will finish next.
