i am typing with the end of a pencil because my hands and shoulder have finally quit due to shoveling during yard work this weekend.
welcome back, wabby. [son will now take over] i agree , low heiny is pretty funny all the more reason i had to make painty feel bad for saying it . kiwi isn't that sane she is just comparitively sane. big difference. i got wonderful mail today it was so exciting lately i've been getting lotsof phone calls from canada. it seems that since the do not calllaw has been in effect all the telemfrket ers have moved to canada where they can harass me legally must go pick up dd , bye l and son |
That just figures! Telemarketers started out in Nebraska, the land of no-accent, and moved to Canada, the land of the really cool accent. I'll still hang up on 'em.
2) Closing day is set and I'm supposed to run out and by insurance. It's expensive. I don't like it. I'm stressed. The builder, who is very nice and low key, sounded not so nice and high key when I ASKED (not requested) if he would be putting blinds in the windows. It's gonna be a stressful week. DS goes to a new school in another town by a new means of transportation; house closes and hopefully I'll find a way to move; and maaayyyybbbbeeee I'll have a new job. The woman-we-don't-like got the other job but this one is better. Some of y'all remember that years ago DS got his black belt and when he went for testing, no one was there. The teacher has just up and quit and not told us. He wouldn't come to the phone. His wife said they were moving to NC because schools were better. They didn't move. This was his wife who got the job. |
Life has such strange quirks.
Cowie, that really sucks that wife of duplicitous oaf gets job and that so many changes are happening. I've been doing so well, and tonight, anyway, I could easily eat anything -- dead or alive if I can catch it. I'll probably post a journal entry first.... Maybe I can talk myself out of it... There isn't even anything "interesting" calling me from the fridge or kitchen. The singer from the 60's that made my heart go pitter pat was David Clayton Thomas from Blood Sweat and Tears. Oooooo wee! I always feel bad if I hurt somebody's feelings (well except for git-ex... and even he's off my list now)... but one of my character flaws is being unable to pass up a pun. Would it make YOU feel better to call me smart ***? |
a little, maybe
|
I've even survived "dumb ***"... but now, FAT ***... them's fightin words.
Hope everyone has a good day. Mine has started off strange. Managed to lose long awaited pay check... perhaps left it on work table at the office. Now must traipse all the way across town to see if I can save face and checking account. Annoying investment of time on a day when I thought I could get to paints AND flowers AND good new book... not to mention a bit of cleaning up here and there. Good news, went to bed without a pre-bed binge. Scale must have known I was thinking about it though because I was up this am. Grrrrrr |
She's only pouting because it was so witty. ;)
Cowgirl, you're going to do just fine. You can handle it. Just keep repeating I think I can, I think I can. Congrats on the new job, wow, you didn't have enough stress without a new job too? This is what I have to do today- Qtrly payroll reports Sales tax report Call accountant about our personal income tax return (of course I filed an extension back in April) Get appointment for lab work for upcoming surgery Pay personal bills And I know there are other things I'm supposed to do, but I only think about them at 4 am. By morning, they fall right out of my head. :dizzy: We're supposed to hit 100 degrees today. There goes the rest of my garden:cool: I wait all year for my lilies to bloom and then we get a heat wave and they cook. |
Wow -- I'm back and I don't think I can deal with all the volumes of messages y'all (hey, I was in NC) have written. But I will try, later on.
Peaches, you didn't wait until I got home to deal with the little puppy! Where did you take it? I would have suggested the Labrador Retriever Rescue Organization, assuming there is one in FL. Hope he got a good home anyway. Later kowies |
Kiwi.... How was NC? coolish I hope.
Hey, all: Is the messiest house award self-announced or is there a judge? I may be a contender. OK. Off to find my check and ressurect my checking account. |

Here's a great joke, with affection for all Canadians, as you know. ********************************************** Two friends lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. They were sick of winter, so they went to a travel agent and booked a trip to Australia. When the two friends got off the plane - still wearing their down jackets, wool hats and snow boots - they wandered into a pub and sat down. The locals wondered about these strangers, so one of the Aussies walked over to the visitors and said, "G'day, mates. Where're you from?" "Saskatoon, Saskatchewan," one of the Canadians replied. "Oh," said the Aussie, returning to his table. "So where are they from?" the other locals asked. "Don't know," replied the Aussie. "They don't speak English." ************************************************* Kiwi |
I got miracle mail today. Mailed to the wrong address and all. SO NICE TO GET..
Kiwi, in my experience 98 percent of Canadians when asked where they're from say "Canada." If you want to know any details, you can ask and they may or may not say. I'd like to know it's them, in advance, and say I'm from the U.S. Wabby, excuse me, but I don't have a new job. The evil woman (WHOM YOU FAVORED OVER ME ALL ALONG) got the job. I have a potential job. 2) For two days, I have worried over insurance. I was supposed to have it yesterday but didn't know that. Insurance people weren't returning my calls and when they did were coming in with estimates SO HIGH that it made me speechless. I called the cheapest one today, went in and wrote out my check. She said, "I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that I checked your credit and you owe us $102 less because of your good credit .. bad news is you have to write another check." I never thought I had good credit. Happily wrote her a check and ran. Now I need movers. color is devil |
I got the cutest postcard with puffy cloudshapes on it! I must be so special!
Victoria! Victoria! 'Toria, 'Toria From the west to the east, From the rich to the poor, Victoria loved them all But I digress. Kiwi |
Kiwi: Loved the joke... am sending it to my Aussie friends.
Cowie... good luck with the "potential" job. We know you've got lots of potential! :D I get to go to a musical later tonight.... Wheee. A little culture. And dancing! |
You guys crack me up
Been busy having my usual bi-monthly mid-life crisis and trying to get in touch with my Higher Self. Working pretty well so far.
Since dh has been home on holidays we have: bought two new book cases and put the boxes and boxes of books that were clogging the basement into them, cut down several trees in the garden, painted another bookshelf and moved the writing desk that nobody ever uses from the living room to the hall. I think we're on a roll. We have no idea whose house is really the messiest, Painty. I'm sure we'd all tie for first place and have to share the honour I'm positively affirming that Peachy will get (no, that she already HAS) her potential job. |
Hi Sug
How is your higher self? I haven't seen mine in a while.
(Example) I spent last night watching reality shows. But really, you have to see Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. It is hilarious. And Cupid and Last Comic Standing are very humorous too. To my credit (in my enfeebled mind only, I suppose) at least I haven't been watching the latest Big Brother or the one where the kids find their father a new wife . But I should probably get a life, right? My project for today is to go to the bank and grocery store to stock up DD for her trip to SoulFest-click here . She's supposed to take a bible with her. I sincerely doubt that she will. She is not going for the spiritual enlightenment, she's going for the rock music and the exhilarating freedom. Did I tell you that DD has a black marker drawing all over her stomach? Her friends at music camp did it on her. It's, well, actually very cool, but of course I feel obligated to make her wash it off. So far, I have not insisted and she keeps going over it with indelible marker  But I'm afraid she really must before she goes to this soulfest thing. It was bad enough seeing her in a bikini at the beach with a "tattooed" midriff, the churchy people will faint dead away. Because you've all been so nice, I'm going to show you--see below. Kiwi |
Silly Kiwi. That's a tatoo, she just hasn't had the nerve to break it to you.
Cowpernia, lay it on me. I have broad shoulders (not to mention the arse) if you need to use me as your whipping boy. It hit 100 degrees yesterday. Another scorcher today. :sunny: |
How do I make my jpeg document smaller so I can insert it in my post? Kiweeeeee???????!!!!!!
|
here i am
what a belly!!!!!
i have nothing to say and no arm to say it with Thank you Kiwi!!!!!!! |
What happened to your personal assistant/slavechild? Come back here and post a decent post. I'm getting tired of talking to myself. Just for that, I'm going to be gone from friday evening until the following thursday.
Suuuuugar - how is it going w/ the DH on vacation? Are you going to do some fun stuff besides the tree removal? I have garden pics to post, but I can't figure out how to make the files small enough for the 3fatchicks. If I email them, they take forever to download. Kiwi, I just can't watch those reality shows. I watched some of the Last Comic Standing until the funny guy w/ the deadpan face lost. I really liked him, and even though it's not a personality contest, I thought he was much funnier than Dat Phan. I'm no fan of dat Dat Phan guy. All the other reality shows are just a little too unreal for me. Besides, I was listening to an actress (can't remember who) that was saying that we're letting the networks get away with a bunch of cheap shows, instead of insisting on high quality comedy and dramas. Remember when you had tv shows that you just had to watch? Hillstreet Blues, LA Law, Dallas, and my all time favorite Mary Tyler Moore? Cute joke, Kiwi:lol: |
You're welcome, Loha -- it's a beautiful likeness! :flow2:

loonie .. I mean loanie ... is that a Brahma bull? Is there such a thing as a Brahma heifer?
Actually, Lohoney, I have a question. My new door has this frosted glass front and the parts, of course, are clear. I need privacy. How should I cover this glass? Or what? I want YOUR answer because you are the smartest and prettiest person here. Honestly. |
I need to get out more
Actually went "downtown" to see Thoroughly Modern Millie live and on stage last night. What fun! Haven't seen and heard live theater/music in ages. I am mouldering away in my happy cave with my husband most of the time, but it's good to get out, too.
Kiwi-guru-- can you send me the "shrinking jpeg" message too? I hope you're going someplace wonderful... but pleeeeease report in afterward!! LoLo -- what's going to fix your arm/hand? We could have a group mental telekinesis moment to zap it into recovery. (I must have seen too many ads for "reality" psychic and healing shows.... but we might as well try.) They could tattoo the whole world on my belly.... AND allow for continental drift.;) Off to see what's happening outside the cave. |
Harumph. Here I sit at a glass company and she asks Lohani the glass question.

Now mind you, sometimes this is true - case in point - Margaret Chou is hilarious, but this Dat Phan guy just missed the mark in my opinion. And my favorite comic got booted out instead. It broke my heart. I refuse to watch anymore. And I agree about the fat guy. He is not funny. He is angry, and it hurts to watch him try to breath. And I don't think fat jokes are funny when you just know it's what is going to kill this guy at a young age. Speaking of fat. There was a very handsome young man of 16 at my WW meeting last night. He had just reached goal. It took him 1 1/2 years to lose ...... drum roll please.......70 pounds!!!!! His mom was there with him and when we gave him the old standing ovation, she was crying. I just checked - the funny guy is named Dave Mordal - you can see his picture at the Last Comic Standing webpage. He was not only funny, but he was a nice guy too. I guess nice guys don't finish last in this case. |
Oh yeah
I think you did already tell us you were going to see big stumps:s:, Wabbit. It sounds absolutely idyllic. I haven't planned a nice type of vacation like that in so long I can't remember. Lately they are all either family visits (granted, a week at the beach is a sort of painless way to visit family) or sailing adventure type things. DH has a really hard time spending $$ on hotel rooms.
Oh that guy you're talking about is the one from Minnesota, isn't he? He was wonderful, very genuine. I really liked him too. I was very surprised he didn't get knocked out in the first round even tho' he was so funny, because he was so normal (I really think crowds feel like they have to vote for abnormal people). And you are right on the money with Dat Phan--the only thing remotely funny about his act has been his imitation of his mother, and it wasn't that good. PW, I can send you the instructions I sent Wabbit, but maybe you should tell me what software you are using, and whether you have a photo editing/paint program on your computer. Just send me a PM if you like. Kiwi |
Ah, the good old days
Crater Lake... *sigh*. I went there once. Hope you have a wonderful time, Wabs!
|
OO-OO-OO!! I just bought tickets to go see James Taylor in September! It's a date w/ my DD!
|
ok wabbby I am on my big fat hands and knees asking forgivensss will u pleasse tell me how to best cover the window

Have a great time, Wabby!!!!!!! How do you have time to have a social life, work and tend that garden?????? You make me feel like a slug. Maybe I'll change my name. I am very unhappy about this reality show trend. I haven't watched any of them. I can't understand why people go on those shows. Don't they understand that they are making fools of themselves??? I used to love "Hill Street Blues" and "LA Law" there's nothing like that anymore. "Law and Order" has gotten tired. I like "Monk" a little. It is not a great show by any means, but it is the best of what is out there. My favorite show is "The Daily Show" but only because I'm so frustrated by what is going on politically and they make the frustration funny. Peaches, I feel your pain about the frosted window. Do you walk naked in front of this window. Does it really matter if people can see through it a little? You could use lace or sheers...but then what is the point of having pretty frosted glass???? Maybe you should have a housewarming weekend, invite Wabby and Bagz and get them to landscape for privacy. I want stained glass transoms in my kitchen, but I can't find anything I like. Bagzie says I can learn to make it in a stained glass class. I believe her. The stained glass store has classes and I think I will take it in the fall. Here is my stained glass problem. As you all know, I like a more sedate color scheme. Everything is so fussy and bright in the stores...and expensive. So, I plan to do it myself. We'll see. I am finally going to the DR for my arm today. That is why I am typing without worry. I am sure I'll be fixed by 3PM..my appt is at 2:00. Thank you for all the compliments on my pic. I was at least 10kg heavier in that pic, but even with the extra weight...my hump is the prettiest in the herd. I'm not going to rise to the bait of those questioning the legitimacy of my breed. Look it up. Sugar, you sure are being productive during your DH's time off. Now you have a whole year to undo all this progress. Kiwi, welcome back!!!! Your dd's belly looks cute....I don't think the Christians will be too hard on her. I also doing think it is going to come off as you wish. Let's face it, she'll only have a belly like that once in her life....if she wants to paint it, now's the time. Painty, isn't it nice to get out and do something other than shop and eat???? Thoroughly Modern Millie is going to be coming through here....I guess it's a national tour? Was it good? Would my 16 year old like it? I remember seeing the movie somewhere around 1965....I don't remember too much about it. My arm doesn't hurt too much from all this typing. Isn't that the killer about going to the dr???? By the time I get there, my problem is usually solved and I feel like an idiot. But I'm going anyway. They are expanding my kids' school into a building about three blocks from the current building. The elementary school will stay where they are and the high school will move. This is supposedly planned for the fall, but construction is going very slow. Now they are saying that they are going to have the kids do 1/2 day in the old building and 1/2 day in the new building. How is my DD, three weeks after surgery and still in an immobilizer, going to move three blocks during the day???? I'm anxious. I'm going to go do something productive...like update windows in the hopes I can get a decent email filter and pop-up stopper. We'll see. bye |
Lo ... you are allowed to leave the heading blank. But, more important, you are my favorite cow because you, AT LEAST, tried to answer me. Now ... the entire kitchen door is glass. No one should be in back of the house. Do I need to cover it at all? I am so confused. It looks right through the kitchen into the living room but there's nothing back there but woods and you have open the gate and come in the fence to get to it.
School starts here next Thursday. There is no time to build a new building. Do they have a shuttle? Have you all noticed that there is a new forum??? This forum would belong to people who have a techie who is more interested in their personal cow status than ours. I think Kiwi should go forthwith and get us a little forum of our own. It would save Lushling a click and she needs to save her hand. |
Good morning again. Of course I am your favorite. I don't think you need to cover the window. Show off your pretty glass.
Yes I agree that Kiwi should get us our own forum. I am trying to update windows. Why won't it work??? |
Yipes! DH is coming home early after lunch (and before dentist). I haven't done anything, including my workout. He's going to have ample evidence of my slug-dom. But I want to keep reading and posting because you are all so cheery.
LoLo... I love your new photo.... not only is the hump lovely... but I do believe is shows your Inner Sacred Cow. Modern Millie was terrific... My friend and I both felt about 14 because there was all this cool tap dancing and creative set changes. It is sort of retro-though in the sense that the character tries to be "modern"/independent... but she is, instead, transfixed by LUV. They've camped it up a little, which I really liked... references to Young Frankenstein, Madame Butterfly, etc. etc. Recommended! We have a sliding glass door from kitchen to backyard... and no privacy fence thanks to Hail Storm/High winds several years ago... We've got vertical blinds that we can close (I close'em if I'm in my jammies and raiding fridge at midnight .... gotta stop that)... and that you can open and see everything.... If you've got woods, maybe you'll attract deer/moose/badgers... (depending on your locale of course. I agree with your appraisal of some hobby/commercial stained glass pieces... There's no reason you can't do something with colors that are all closely related and that is subtle and sophisticated. (The ONLY "reality" show I've enjoyed is Queer Eye for the Straight Guy... now those guys could do you an awesome stainedglass thingy! And you could all have martinis afterwards.:dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy: I wish I was going on vacation again. I made sugestions about LaborDay... but DH wants to stay home... says that EVERYTIME there's a long weekend we GO somewhere. I DO believe HE's the one exaggerating. Hmph. OK. Off to the weights. Maybe I can get back here for cool down. Ciao. |
Gee, Peaches, I don't think you need to cover your kitchen window unless you want to. I live in the puckabrush and I only have curtains on some of my kitchen windows because my mother gave me a set of hers that I liked. And I have a curtain on my bathroom window, because, well, the toilet is right next to the window. Other than that, I just have shades on some windows. Mostly they are bare. But that's just me.
Lohushie, Bagz will make you a lovely stained glass window, won'tcha? We had dinner with some people in Fl. over Christmas vacation who have a stained glass workshop in their garage. The DH does windows and all kinds of stuff. Gorgeous. Originally Posted by : That's a good point. It was fading last time I saw it anyway. DH is not happy with stuff like that. He was sitting behind her and had his arms around her, and it was hard to tell exactly where those hands were. :yikes: I think his blood pressure hit the roof for a minute. Later dolls Kiwi |
Kiwi, heee-heee, Daddies and their girls! It's so hard on the Dads to let their little girls grow up.
Painty, Cowpernia would have crocodiles on her back porch, she's in Florida. No moose in florida, right Cowper? Cowpernia, I have glass french doors on back of the house, and it only gives me the willies if I'm home by myself. So as long as you never let DS leave the house, you should be fine. Is the front door glass just a little one? What color did you pick? When is the housewarming? Lohani, I hope the Dr. fixes your typing arm. I got a phone call from my homeowner's insurance company. She said that an inspector had come to my house and there is moss on the roof and branches. Number 1 - no one asked my permission to inspect my house when I wasn't home. Number 2 - I looked and there is no moss or branches on my roof. None. Number 3 - I've never heard of insurance companies calling up to harrass ppl about there home maintenance. Can you believe this? On that note of utter pistivity, I'll say sayonara. I'll see you cows when I'm back. Kisses. |
Never heard of Insurance co's doing inspections unless they were planning to write a NEW policy. I wonder if it was some scam to find out if you were who they thought you were? I'd be calling the state insurance board.... or asking for a number where I could call THEM.
Creepy. Would rather have crocodiles in the back yard. We're going to Pilot Point Tx tomorrow to see the "obscene" mural of "Eve" that their city counsel is requiring to have removed from some business establishment wall. The charge is providing obscene materials to minors.... I think. Texans really ARE nuts sometimes. |

Turns out it's not me blinking and refocusing -- it's the monitor  For once, I'm not imagining things! :bubbles: Then we're supposed to go to a town celebration with music and fireworks in the town where DD has her music lessons. But it's looks a bit bleak in this rain. We'll see. We had a lovely visit with 3D friends at their camp last night. Waaaaaaaayyyy to far away. But then again, I hear we're all moving there, aren't we? Have a great weekend all Kiwi |
fabbbbbbbbbbbbbbbulous!!!! a rain soaked folk festival!!!! how wonderful!!!! you know i would HATE that---but those young things will STILL have a ball and it will go down in history as the most WONDERFUL event!!!! ohhh to be young again---the rest of my babies are happy to golf in the rain!!! hi there Kiwonkers!!! have fun tonight!!

I know that you cows (remember when that used to sound harsh?) are worthless for advice. What do I bother? Herbie looked at my house and told me that it needs a few more GFI plugs. Like in the bathroom, by the kitchen sink and outdoors.
He also handed over some cash which he says came from the sale of my old car. I'm sure it didn't. Anyway, my washer doesn't spin water out anymore. My dryer has been sitting unused for four years while I used the landlord's gas dryer. Herbie suggests getting new cheap ones. He thinks they can be bought for $100 each. He's wrong as you know. So I can move the washer and see if it's repairable or buy a new one. I can move the dryer and hope mice aren't living in it. Yuck. I want new ones. |
