Happy - Thanks for sharing the Mel moment. I remember that one. What a fiasco. She was always putting out fires, literally and figuratively. I definitely think that Meadow should give Nina a good whack. I'm sure that's what D's kitty will do to Santa if he bothers her. I hope that D's kitty and Santa will be able to work it out fairly quickly.

Came across this article while I was looking up something else. Thought it really fit in with the whole Mel moments and Christmas thing...

From her local newspaper a while ago...

Michelle - as far as the job goes - you have to do what you are comfortable with. I'm sure each and every one of us would take a different approach from each other, simply because we all have different needs as well as what we can tolerate and what we can't. I wish you well and hope that you find something that works out for you.

And you are right - cats do have a way of bossing around dogs. I've seen more than one of them (including several of mine) give a dog a good cuff. Get a fielder's mask and umpire's outfit for Santa

Happy - Thanks for the link to the article that had some quotes from Mel. Bless her heart. She was always doing for others. As for Santa...I think an umpire's mask would be a good idea....or even better a goalie mask! D's kitty has all her claws, and I'm sure she'll use them if she needs to.

I'll try this again. It didn't post.

Happy
That was very good advice for any one.

Annie
Hang in there. It's always tough around this time of the year.

Michelle
Don't blame you at all for trying out the job in SF especially if it doesn't interfere with the other one.

-------
My friend has been sick for at least 3 weeks with some kind of virus. Not really sure what it is cause she wouldn't go to the doctor. I was really overwhelmed with this because this is the way that my mom had her heart attack. I went behind her back and sent a message to her sister who is a nurse via FB. I told her what was going on and told her how concerned I was. She assured me she would go to the doctor next week. I haven't heard from my friend this afternoon. But I will text her in a few minutes.
The only thing I've done today is clean my bedroom and have rested the rest of the day. I've had a headache most of the afternoon. It may be due to the storm coming in tomorrow.
The girls down the street came and asked for a ride but I said NO. I guess they have forgot that I told them this summer I was not giving any more rides.

Morning all,
Got woken early this morning by a bunch of drunks. This building has an atrium in its very centre. Nice place to sit and have a drink in the cool airy space. However it's draw back is that it echoes. And this morning this loud mouthed drunk was singing - if that's what it can be called. However he appears to have passed out because silence has returned.
Bloody IE, usually I can press Enter and it goes to the next line. Today it decided to post. At least I didn't lose the post I suppose.

Michelle - I have to say it, but I think you have or will by the time you decide, lost any credence you may have had to do contract work. Maybe even permanent work. It's your choice, but I am afraid it doesn't work the way you said and employers talk - amongst themselves and around the world. They may be able to try before they buy but the employee can't. It is not an employees market. If there was full employment status you just might have gotten away with it, but there isn't and probably never will be again. It costs companies to recruit and employ. The old golden rule applies I am afraid - them that has the gold makes the rules. Sad but true.
Still it is your choice - how you are going to decide whether or which of them is for you in a couple of days I don't know. Always takes me at least a solid week of hard graft and mental confusion to work out the projects. Good luck with that.

Happy - little Nina sounds like a bit of a bully to poor wee Meadow. Hope that passes soon enough. Maybe they are dealing with the abandonment earlier in their lives in their own ways.

Damn, now I can't see what everyone else has written. I'll be back.

Okay - easier all round to start again. Now where was I? Oh yes Happy.

Those appetisers sound okay too. But a bit rich for breakfast time. I will stick with a couple of boiled eggs or some cereal.

Ceejay - it's not so bad working Christmas day. I did it for years when the ExDH and I had the cab business. At least you don't have to deal with Joe Public face to face as I did. Those girls sure don't give up do they? I thought they were moving away sometime back???

Laura - trying to work out what we did two years ago is always baffling. I sometimes can't remember what I did 2 days ago. Guess you will get there. Do you have files (archived on the computer or in a folder at the back of the filing cabinet about what you did)
Sounds like some bargains in the food department. Strange to hear of a food store closing - they are usually the last to go - everyone has to eat. However, I guess if they were specialist foodstuffs then they can't really be afforded at times like these.

Annie - you've had such a hard year. Time to sit back and reflect now. Spend the time you need with the bro and the cousin. Let the family pamper you somewhat rather than you racing around after them. And remember that you have been given the gift of life. You owe it to those who don't to live, love and remember them and theirs in times to come.

Susie must be really busy. Haven't seen her for a while.

Okay, better get on with the day, starting with coffee. I am going out to Chris (ex Japan) for lunch today. And it is bloody raining. Still I am going.

See you late. Oh and here is a picture of wee Isaac. Born late on Monday 16th so he was just 5 days old yesterday when these were taken.

Shad - Little Isaac sure is adorable! Thanks for sharing the photos. And thank you for sharing your comments about my decisions and the potential damage I'm doing to my credibility. I really do appreciate your input and insight.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. I can't be on here long as I have to finish packing up boxes and my clothes to take over to D's. He'll be here in a few hours after he gets off work.

Much love and many hugs,

It's been raining all day and part of last night but I think this system is close to moving out of the area. It's left approximately 4-5 inches of rain. The streets are holding water but no deep stuff like we have had in times past.

I took my friend some chicken noodle soup and another Sprite. Her color is still not good. Her sister the one I talked to called her and told her to take some Immodium so I got that and took that to her along with some chicken noodle soup. I don't think she'll be able to go home tomorrow. She's still as weak as a kitten.

Watched the Grinch that Stole Christmas last night and thought of Mel. She like the cartoon version. I've also watched Charley Brown this week also.
While I was digging through my DVD's I found a Beginner's Yoga DVD and did 30 minutes of that. I stopped when she did what looked like the splits. I could have done the rest of the DVD.
I've made a meatloaf and home made soup. Will make cornbread in a little bit.

Guess this guy was celebrating Christmas a wee bit early. I'm very lucky that I live in a quite neighborhood. The girls down the street had big ideas last summer about moving but they didn't pan out. I'm going to continue to say no when they ask. Yesterday I didn't feel like dealing with them.

Michelle
I'm going to be anxious to hear about the job and new living arrangements. Keep us informed.

Nothing else to report. We may have some more storms before this system gets out of here.

Morning all,

Sorry I haven't posted. Got a bit distracted but then again, it gets very quiet in here on the weekend anyhow.

Shad - Isaac is such a cutie. And what a great head of hair! I agree that he's very alert looking for a new born. Great personality trait if he's already curious about the world. Hope his Mum has recovered well. Enjoy your visits and have good travels.

Ceejay - that was really sweet of you to take your friend some provisions. I wonder if she has that strain of flu that is going around. It darn near knocked the socks off my niece - left her quite weak so it's doubly nice of you to look in on your friend. Is this the one who has the recent surgery? Your meals sound yummy - good comfort food. I had to laugh about doing the splits on the Yoga DVD - there will be none of that here either Guess you won't be having a white Christmas. Although I would much rather have the snow than the warm weather and the Christmas tornadoes it brings down your way.

Guess I'd better get a move on here. Nothing's getting done with me sitting here.

Popping in to say help It sure is quiet in here.

Happy
Yes this is the friend who had minor surgery a while back. It sure is taking her a long time to get well. I know one thing I don't want it. I hand her stuff through the door.

Just a quick check in...I've got all the stuff I had at my step-mom's moved over to D's house. I'm about 40% unpacked...there's lots of reorganizing to do around here. Luckily, I still have most of my stuff in storage and will keep it there for at least a few months.

It's nice here. D's brother and the other roommate are very nice and really like Santa. D's cat has mostly just hissed at and hidden from Santa...but she'll come around eventually.

Time for me to call it an evening. I'm leaving early tomorrow to make sure I allow enough time to drop Santa off at Day Care, then get to the train station by 7:00 or 7:15 so I can get to the office in SF on time.

Much love and many hugs to all,

Mornin' chicks. Mel moment for the day...

WARNING WILL ROBINSON...THE RAMBLINGS OF A DEMENTED DECEMBER DUCK FOLLOWS:
(our thread title that month was Worldlies Demented In December )
I HAVE TO SAY I HAD A WONDERFUL DAY TODAY. WENT FOOD SHOPPING WITH JEN. PUT EVERYTHING AWAY AND HELPED OPUT IN THE OFFICE. ONE OF THE GIRLS HAS HURT HER BACK AND WILL BE OUT TILL THURS OR FRI.
JEN AND I NEED TO MAKE ABOUT 2 MORE TRIPS TO THE STORE FOR THE REST OF THE WINTER SUPPLIES. I LIKE TO GET A LOT OF BIRD STUFF, NON-PERISHABLES AND PAPER GOODS. THEN THE LITTLE STORE DOWN THE STREET CAN DELIVER THE MILK AND BREAD STUFF WHEN THE BAD WEATHER COMES. SO WE ARE ON OUR WAY.
THIS YEAR I SAW TO IT THE SENIORS GOT TO DECORATE THEIR OWN TREE....I MAY HAVE SAID THIS ALREADY....WO WHEN I WAS DOWN TODAY THEY ARE ALL SO EXCITED AND EACH ONE TOOK ME INTO THE COMMUNITY ROOM TO SEE THE TREE...I MUST HAVE REPEATED THIS ABOUT 50 X'S TODAY!! I THINK MY TIRES WORE A BLOODY HOLE OUT IN THE CARPET!! AND THEY ARE JUST SOOOO PROUD OF HOW IT LOOKS TOO! I WAS VERY SENTIMENTAL TODAY AND REALLY HAD A TOUGH TIME NOT CRYING WITH EACH ONE OF THEM.
THERE HAS BEEN ANOTHER DEATH IN THE HOUSE AND MANY OF THEM HAVE BEEN SICK, IN & OUT OF THE HOSPITAL THESE PAST 2 MONTHS. MORE THIS YEAR THAN THE 20 YEARS I HAVE BEEN HERE. PNEUMONIA IS RUNNING RAMPANT AMONGST THEM AND UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS. BEEN A TOUGH SEASON.
SO WE MADE JOKES...OR RATHER I DID....THEY LAUGHED A LOT. THEY STILL LOVE WHEN I SAY WTF AND GO HYSTERICAL OVER IT. I THINK THEY LIKE THE SHOCK OF THE F WORD. JEN FINISHED(ALMOST) PAINTING THE 2 SETS OF FRONT DOORS, INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. THEY HAVE GONE BANANAS OVER THE WINDOWS AND SOME SAT QUIETLY WHILE SHE PAINTED. JEN HAS QUITE A FOLLOWING. SHE USED TO WORK FOR SENIOR CITIZEN AFFAIRS AND THEY STILL MISS HER. I WAS SO PROUD OF JEN. SHE HAS SUCH A NATURAL GIFT WITH THESE SENIORS AND THEY JUST LOVE HER SO. EVEN THE ONES THAT HAVE A HARD TIME SHOWING ANY LOVE ARE BEING DEMONSTRATIVE. IT AMAZES ME WHAT A LITTLE KINDNESS CAN BRING OUT IN PEOPLE AND EVEN AFTER 20 YEARS IT STILL AMAZES ME. SO I WAS HAPPY ALL DAY BUT TEARFUL TOO.
