He doesn't die, Terry :) I think you will be surprised at the ending...just when you think you have the story figured out it twists and turns again!
Plans to go the sprinkler/spray park again in about an hour. I've been cleaning all morning so at least won't have that to do when I get home...

Let me know what you think of the movie! We have "Far from Heaven" with Julianne Moore on tap for tonight :)

Emily -- not only do we have the same taste in movies, but also routines as I have been cleaning all day. Dust everywhere! "Far From Heaven" was a really good movie -- a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Now I just wish I could go to the sprinkler park too!!

jelynn 07-10-2003 08:18 PM

Cool Terry! I've wanted to watch "Far from Heaven" ever since the Oscars...and I really like Julianne Moore. Have you seen "The Hours"? I just watched that last week- had read the book a couple months ago-- glad I read the book first, but the movie was an excellent adaptation.

The spray park was really fun- Ian is so good to just lay there or have a nap in the stroller. The big boys ran around the water for awhile and then explored the creek bed (dry creek bed) for snails and cat-tails. Real boys-eh?

Going tonight with a couple friends for drinks- the virgin kind ;) We get Maui Wowies- orange sherbet, with pineapple, coconut and banana...YUM. I need to figure out how to replicate it for home (or not as I would be making them way too often!) Don't know if I will make it for the movie...may have to force a nap for the boys tomorrow and watch it in the afternoon before it's due.

Have a good evening :) Where are you today Cat??

Morning ladies, and especially Terry, how nice of you to answer my post...

My back just keeps getting worse,, so have decided to take the whole weekend off, just rest it.. hubby agreed, then if not better on Monday will call the doctor... can't understand why it just started to flare up again so bad... can't sleep, am getting really depressed

ok. well sit here for long... have to move again.. only place I get any respite from the pain is in my recliner...and I hate just sitting there.. there really isnt' that much on tv.. but I feel like I am being punished into watching old reruns.. so each day I pick a different channel.

Needless to say my dieting is out the door, not eating much, but also not moving much either... good thing its cold outside, rain and cold front came thru or I'd really be miffed....

Don't want to drag anyone down so I'll see you later..
Hope you all have a super day

Dahlia

Morning!

A quickie to just say hello and wish everyone a happy Friday :) :) .

Stomach's not cooperating and I have a major headache -- one of those days you want to crawl back into bed. Sorry, no can do today !

Emily, "Basic" turned out to be so much better than I first thought. I wasn't even going to watch it with him because war movies are not my thing, but because you said Johnny boy doesn't die, I gave it a whirl. It's the type of movie that you need to see again though to get all the clues. All through the movie, I kept saying "remember, Emily said it has a twist at the end" so we were prepared for EVERYTHING!

Did you watch "Far From Heaven" on DVD because they offer an alternate ending which I liked better.

Those drinks sound more like a dessert -- right up my alley, good with a little rum too :s: .

Dahlia, I don't blame you for getting down in the dumps, you've been glued to that chair far too long. It's good that you're going to see the doc -- maybe he can give you something to ease the pain while it mends. Sounds like you did something there all right. Back pain is not a picnic -- feel better soon!

OK, do I send the troops out after our Cathy???!!!! Time to send an SOS email her way ....

Contemplating going to New Hampshire tomorrow and Sunday to see Katie and the place she wants to have the wedding. It's a 3-hr drive both ways (and we always have to stop in Vermont too to see his dad) so I get tired of making it all in one day. I am not a very patient passenger.

I'll check back in later -- too bad I don't live closer Emily, I could taste test those drinks as you figure out the recipe . I really hope you feel better as the day goes by too, Dahlia.

Always, Terry

cat90 07-11-2003 12:59 PM

Good Morning Ladies

You don't need to send out the troops Terry ;)
I was MIA yesterday because i would'nt let myself come online until i'd exercised..if i come online first the chances of me exercising seem to decrease..anyway..once i'd done that the sun was beating down so hubby and i spent a couple of hours sunbathing then we went to Victoria and had an ice cold beer in a beer garden...what a hotspot that was :D then we went to see some of the guys that hubby does work for and one of them (Wayne) said to me "I thought you were dead!! Does he never let you out?" i replied that he did'nt i was kept chained to the kitchen sink :s: then we went to the Waterwheel for dinner :D which was an unplanned treat...so i never got online at all..not like me..is it?

Hubby was harping on about the Stones concert again yesterday too  he said it is going to be bigger than Woodstock and he told me to book a hotel if i could find one but i told him the prospect of being in a crowd of half a million people did not appeal to me (i sometimes have panic attacks in crowded places) not to mention "screaming" people  he then told me that there was only 3500 portable toilets being put on the grounds :( i hate using those at the best of times but at an 8hr concert you would'nt have much choice would you? :p it does'nt sound very many for such a crowd..does it? and i'm not sure just how many tickets they are going to sell either..how many people can you fit in a park? i think i'd better do some more homework before i decide.

Cool Mom 07-11-2003 01:29 PM

Yea, here she is! :)

What a nice day you two had yesterday -- I wish Russ would stay home more but it's not in his work-aholic nature I'm afraid.

Hmm, sounds like he really wants to go, Cathy. I feel as you do regarding crowds so I can understand how it may be a tough decision for you. You could also have a great time once you get there -- sometimes it's the pre-anxiety that is more of a demon where panic attacks are concerned. Maybe you'll luck out and there won't be any tickets left?? Porta potties give me the creepy crawlies too :yikes: ....

Ooops, dogs are barking -- gotta run!

Hope it all turns out OK, Cat.

T

:)

cat90 07-11-2003 04:29 PM

I'm still online T and its almost 1.30pm  and i just found that hotel deal i thought had gone..don't know what to do :dz: i just told hubby and he did'nt say "book it" so maybe he's not as bothered as i think ;) i think i'll just let it be and hope that the idea just goes away

Hmmm, :chin: he's out on the deck sunbathing..i don't think he can get much blacker  i don't look like i have a tan at all compared to him

Cool Mom 07-11-2003 04:44 PM

.... are you sure he's still awake out there?!

jelynn 07-11-2003 04:54 PM

Cat- I heard there were 800.000 last year in that park for Youth Day Int'l (I think that's what it's called when the Pope visits??) That's just too big a crowd for me- I mean is there even that many people in Canada
What a fun day you had yesterday!

Terry- I'm actually watching Far from Heaven right now- trying to multi-task ;) I was just too tired last night when I got home at 10:45 to start it.
Have fun on your road trip if you go...

Was up coughing half the night so ran to 7-11 before JIm left for work for cough drops- I've only needed one, but at least I'll have them if I need them tonight.

Well, I think the boys are outside and I really should know where :)
Emily

jelynn 07-11-2003 08:02 PM

Terry- I did watch on DVD, but can't find the alternate ending! I looked at all the bonus material...
e-mail me and tell me what it was :)

Smiling Sal 07-12-2003 04:17 AM

Hello to everyone, have been very busy this week, no time to post during the week, am here now though.

Editted Highlights - Eating was good until last night, exercise has been slow but have done some.

Em hope your friends family pull through and those guys turn up soon

jelynn 07-12-2003 09:26 AM

Hi Carol! Great to see you- sounds like you are doing great. I did pretty good through the week too (esp. condsidering my emotional state...), but last night had a mini-binge. The only upside was that it was with DH and not alone. We both love our chocolate.
Unfortuntately the search has been called off for the hikers....it had been 16 days and no sign of them at all. It is presumed that they were disoriented with the blizzard and winds that started and fell into a crevass at the top :( It is just heart-breaking and I just can't even imagine what the family is going through. Plans for a memorial in the coming weeks.

Today will have to be spent cleaning a bit (try not to do that on Sat... ) but took the day off yesterday and we're having friends to dinner tomorrow so have to. I'd like to go to come garage sales this morning (on a mission for an old-style Pyrex butter dish!) but want my kids to sleep in more so we'll see.
Have a great weekend everyone

Btw, Carol- what Holiday do you have the 14th? YOu don't celebrate Bastille day do you? j/k

cat90 07-12-2003 01:49 PM

Good Morning Ladies,

Em, 8 hundred thousand :yikes: too many for me too  its bound to be televised so you'd probably see more from your living room couch than you would sandwiched in a crowd like that!
I just think its a lot of expense to go to, to end up watching a video screen anyway

Not making much progress on the dieting front :( i'm just not trying hard enough..i don't know if i'm just content with the way i look or just darn lazy  i know that once i book my airline seat to England tho' i'll want 20lbs gone overnight

Meigg 07-12-2003 11:15 PM

Hello....

Hello everyone. I am back. ;)

Well, remember that job in Indiana that I was commuting to? Dan and I got an apartment there (we own ours in chicago, and did not get rid of it). 1 week after we moved I quit my job (on July 2nd). Needless to say, Dan is a little upset. It hurts us financially, but we are fine even without me working. Let's just say that "it looks good on paper". We actually have to live it one month to be sure.

I had HORRIBLE anxiety that let to me not being able to function. I had a run-in with the CEO that I don't want to even talk about. What he was doing was illegal, and I couldn't be a part of it. He was also never there, and he basically wanted me to run the company - can you say, "not my job"???

Anyway...I have gained (i don't know how much because i don't want to face the scale), and I am depressed (and so is Dan). Not fun:( .

It sounds like you guys are having fun this summer, and I am sure being back here will brighten my mood. I just feel stupid and useless right now. Don't mean to have a pity party (sorry).

Anyway, I have hesitated to come back, but here I am. I will get this weight off, as now I have time to really focus on it. Tomorrow I will come with a new attitude as well.:)

Can't wait to check in tomorrow morning and start working towards my goal again!

Thanks for listening - Meg
