Thanks, Cathy. I hate to be whiny, but geeze! This is why people give up.
I did tell the dr how much I was exercising, and she didn't really say much, other than "well, do cardio as many days a week as you can". Uh. Thanks, doc. And I did get blood drawn for a thyroid panel yesterday, so we will see how it comes back. I will say, I am still ALWAYS tired...I'm waiting for that "you have more energy when you exercise" thing to kick in. But I have a feeling it'll all come back normal. Colleen |
Cathy, it's kind of scary isn't it? Sometimes I don't recognize myself anymore but that's not necessarily a bad thing...keeps Erwin on his toes at any rate LOL.
Colleen, I suffer from an underactive thyroid but have been on meds for it for the past 3 years and luckily it has never inhibited my weight loss. If you're feeling sluggish I really found that when I started taking a B-complex pill in the morning it has helped my energy levels. Something to consider and it won't affect any other meds that I know of. Well I guess this morning we are supposed to be putting up the border in the sun room but Erwin has been staying downstairs this morning so we'll see if I can get the proper nagging tone working to see if he'll come and help me get it up. We're so close to having that room done but this is when it gets easy to put it off and I don't want to do that. Marni and Makenzie and I are going to Heritage DAys later this afternoon so that should be fun. It's not going to be 90 today, more like 80 so that makes it a bit more enjoyable to get out and about. I wouldn't mind getting a bit of colour before Janet's wedding next month so we'll see what happens. Have a great Saturday all and I'll check back in later. Hi to Terry, Dahlia, Emily, Grandma G, and everyone else. Pam |
Dang, I just lost a long post to you guys -- remind me never to hit "refresh" on this board again  .
Anywhooo ... ..... Good Morning! :) Colleen, what smart ladies we have, and Cathy and Pam have pretty much summed it all up -- you are doing great despite what the doc implied (remember, weight loss isn't always their specialty and they don't keep up with all the latest research -- some just think that eating less and exercising more equals weight loss and we all know it's not that easy!). :bravo: My own experience has shown me that what works best for my body is cutting back (not eliminating!) white carbs (anything white -- pasta, rice, potatoes) which have little fiber and only promote hunger, and refined sugar (I substitute Splenda and try to stick with foods that have 3-4 grams of sugar). When I did this, the scale started moving down. Different food plans work for different people so perhaps you just need to mix up your food choices a bit more. You blew me away with your exercise routine! :D Just awesome is the only way for me to describe it -- kudos :) . I am not promoting SBD but if you want to learn more about it check out prevention.com. It differs from Atkins in that it promotes eating good carbs and good fats. Like I said, sometimes our bodies just need a change in order to rekindle weight loss. All these weight loss plans work, it's our bodies reaction that makes the difference in how the scale responds. BTW, you can vent here anytime because we all do it when the going gets tough and that's what we are here for! Cathy, you sound just like me, you keep on driving and only stop for the necessities! I just hate pullling off the highway -- don't ask me why. Speaking of travels, time to get this show on the road here -- first stop is newspapers and another cup of coffee. Love lazy Saturday mornings :) ............ T |
Grrrr, Lazy Saturday Mornings  i have to go out and get some home insurance because hubby let it lapse and i've only been nagging him about it for about a month  so he goes out yesterday for the whole day i might add while i did laundry and ironed and packed and he came home last night with A QUOTE!!
A :censored: quote! and that is $300 more than what we have been paying and i think he's going to pay it  i said to him "you had all day to get some other quotes" but he had other things to do like socialising  this morning he went out for breakfast with the same bunch and the overpriced quote is still sat on the table!! MEN!!! :rollpin: I'll be back later (if i have time) |
Oh..and the other good?? news is that the price of my flight has dropped and we could have saved over $200 :rollpin: anything else going to happen today  i know i need gas in the car  and i still have'nt bothered getting any meds :yikes:
|
Cathy -- count to 10 and then you won't kill him! Usually if the price drops you can ask for the lower price -- I've done it before. Give it a shot .... hope the afternoon goes better!

Hello Ladies!
Lazy Saturday here too...kinda. I had my sister here this week so got behind on my routines...had to play catch-up on laundry and mop my kitchen. Jim went to go help a friend hang dry-wall- said it would take a half hour and turned into 3.5 grrrr. SO I went to lunch with a friend, came home and nursed Ian and went out again garage-saling for a bit and dropped in on a frind who just bought a new home. Now we're just lounging. It's so hot (still!) here- too hot to be outside. Colleen-I understand your frustration...it's so hard to be patient with weight-loss. I know when I've been OP and working out too I feel like after 3 weeks or so I should be a size 10!LOL :bravo: Great job on your accomplishments so far!! And you are 7 lbs down- not up (like me!) That is success in and of itself!! You've gotten some great advice- just don't give up. We're all in this for the long-haul. Pam- can't wait to see a pic of your sitting room! How fun to re-decorate. I'm getting the itch again...at least to finish what we've started. Still need trim and mouldings around the doorways from when we did the hardwood last year...and some baseboards too. I want to re-do my basement, but time and $$ are always the issue  Terry- :bravo: I don't think I've congratulated you on your 25 lbs gone!! That must feel so great- good job girl :) Cat- Probabaly a good thing that John took off for breakfast this morning eh?? Hoping you get your $200 refunded!! A big hello  to all unmentioned- hope everyone's doing great. I'm back on the wagon and rearing to go. Pam can I just say you are such an inspiration!! I know I can do it because you have...wasn't that long ago that we were close to the same weight. Now here I am waaaay past that (the wrong direction) and you are at goal! :bravo: Whoo-hoo! Later babes... |
Just stopping by for a second or two to say good morning and wish everyone a great day :) . I love lazy days, Emily, and I think one should be declared a national holiday every few months :D . I am almost afraid to ask Cathy how the rest of her day went yesterday :yikes:. Back to my morning coffee and the papers. Love to all .... :tired: Terry

Had a great family day today. After church we took a drive out to a provincial park about 90 minutes away. Walked around the lake and enjoyed nature :) It was a beautiful marshy trail- love places that take me away from this prairie land! :) We were really close to the mountains of Waterton and Glacier Nat'l parks- the smoke wasn't bad from the fires there (much worse here in town- must be theway the wind is blowing) We saw tons of dragon-flies, minnows, pelicans wild-flowers...the boys thought it was just great. Ian traveled great as did the big boys-- Just a really enjoyable afternooon. WE got home and the boys (Jim and Brendan and COnnor) went out and picked my peas and beans. This is our first attempt at gardening and must say it's been a good one. Thoroughly enjoying my fresh beans- now the tomatoes need to ripen :T: Also got a good 35 minute walk in- delivered a book to a fried that we are doing for our book club this month (Crow Lake by Mary Lawson-highly recommend it!)
Tomorrow is a holiday so JIm will be home- not sure if we are going to do a work/project or more family fun. Guess we could do a bit of each-eh? Well, have a nice night everyone  |
Morning :) ....
It's pouring cats and dogs, oppressively humid, and thundering this morning. Oh well, I don't have any outdoor activities scheduled for today. All my agenda calls for is decluttering Katie's room and hanging her new curtains and putting on her new bedding. I am redoing her room in navy blue and white. She still has so many "things" all over and under her bed (art work) that I think I will just bag and box and then let her decide what to do with them. I am toying with the idea of getting a day bed in there with a trundle bed underneath and making that room into a guest room. Depends on how ambitious I feel! Did so-so over the weekend diet-wise. Caught myself snacking last night but the good news is that I stopped :^: in time for any real damage to occur -- I hope! Emily, what a lovely day you guys had -- I vote for more family fun today as house projects will always be there and can wait. I bet the boys are enjoying putzing in the garden too. Coffee's done so let me go and relax with the morning paper -- have a great Monday everyone! Always, Terry :) |
Hello ladies,
Can't be long...is to painful to sit at desk. My summer really sucks so far,,I reinjured my back last Thursday, while making my bed. Who says housework can't hurt you? Anyway, been sleeping if you can call it that in the recliner, can't lie down,,,am on the schedule for a cordizone shot in my spine on Sept.. 8... a loooong month of pain...and oh yes, on Friday took the maximum dosage of pain killers, and ended up in doctor's office sicker than a dog... scared poor hubby real bad... so can't take them anymore...to hard on my body. Well, so is this constant pain.... Hubby's best friend died last Thursday. He got a call and went to the hospital to see him, but he was already in a coma, and didn't last much longer... hubby is glad he has just gone to visit his friend a week ago while he was still aware of everything.. he had cancer. So we went to the funeral this morning. Longest half hour service I ever sat through, considering I can't really sit in a chair without a lot of pain..but I got thru it... came home and slept a couple hours in the recliner.. body was just throbbing... I am so fed up with this.. am going to discuss a permament solution. But will get the shot in Sept. going to California in Oct. hate the thought of more surgery, but can't go on like this.. I honestly told hubby last weekend, it was a good thing I don't know how to use a gun... not that I would but I cannot live like this... Ok, talked long enough, got to get up and move around and then get settled for the night in my recliner.Just wanted to check in with you all... let you know I have not jumped ship.. Will catch ya all next time. Dahlia sorry to dump all this on ya... just wanted you to know why I wasn't posting. |
Ooo, Dahlia, that sounds NOT FUN. I can sort of identify with you...I whacked my back out on Sunday and spent the day lying around, trying not to move too much. Today it's much better, and I can't imagine having to live with that kind of pain for a protracted period of time! My sympathies.
Well, since I messed up my back, there was no exercise yesterday, and there was no motivation today...plus, I decided I could take my birthday off, right? Anyway...there was mexican food for dinner (I gotta just NOT START on those chips!) and then, of course, CAKE. And oh my goodness, this was the best cake I've ever had. Only had one piece, and I think I may take the rest to work and let THEM eat it tomorrow. And tomorrow, it's back on the dang wagon. My parents are doing SBD, I may borrow their book and read up on it. I just don't have the energy to do anything but play the calorie game right now, though.... Colleen |
Hi everyone, have recently returned from the sunny scottish highlands to the now even sunnier and hottier scottish central belt. Hope Cathy is having weather like this.
I gained a whole pound while I was away last week, am so surprised it wasn't more, but am now monitoring my eating like a woman possessed to ensure it and some of it's friends are gone asap. |
Hi all....still feeling very discouraged and frustrated!
I DID have more birthday cake last night (but I mostly budgeted for it)....brought the rest to work and let them finish it up. Today we had Krispy Kremes in honor of my 5 year anniversary at my job. I didn't eat one. And boy was THAT hard. I think KKs are made with crack.....if I have one, I want the entire box. Anyway...still feeling rather blue about the whole endeavor. But can someone tell me...WHAT should I be eating so I stay w/in my calorie range AND am not constantly famished? Because famished is what I am. Today, for instance....special K for breakfast, a chicken breast with rice and salsa for lunch, some light and lively yogurt for a snack, and a small sirloin, an ear of corn and a salad for dinner. And a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich. And I am STARVING. What gives? I have NO idea how people can do 1200 calories a day. None at all. I'd be eating my own arm. Did manage to get out and ride 6.5 miles after work. Yesterday we lifted weights, and we'll do that again tomorrow. That should count for something, right? :( Colleen |
Heyyyyy! Where is everyone??
I can't believe I used my powerful thread killing abilities on THIS thread! :D Anyway...hope everyone's had a good week, and has an even better weekend. Colleen |
