Hi again,
Emily, pampered piggies sounds like a nice treat... only don't think I could do my nails as I still can't bend that much... speaking of bending, Cathy, you are doing Pilates... what would you say about it being done with a bad back,, some of the exercises I do for my back look like something done in a commercial I saw for Pilates but am wondering in the long run how it would work out.. Meg, my hat is off to you.. I think waitressing is the hardest job around... you are on your feet all the time, carrying all those trays, etc., remembering orders and putting up with all those people... gee sounds like what I did around the house raising all those boys....:) anyway, glad you enjoy it... Coolmom... congrats on your surgery being over and done with..and you can see so much better... Hurray for you...... I hate wearing glasses and can't wait till the doc will do the cataract thing and I won't need them anymore.... but its still to early. Hubby had his done a couple years ago and he sees great.... Ok, got a new cook book so am trying a new recipe for supper. It's called Campbells taco bake... all the yardsaling I did today, wore me out,, I sat down when I got home to watch Room by Room and missed 2/3rd of it... nodded off... but felt better when I woke up... little cat naps are good..:) Colleen, I am 53, married for 31 yrs. and have 5 sons...and 3 grandbabies, 2 boys and a girl... 3 and 1.5 yrs. old...joy of my life...Looking forward to getting to know you better. Pam, hope you are feeling better. Hello to everyone else... Dahlia |
Isn't it nice to have Meg back so much?! Hmm, carrying all those platters may give you scuptured Madonna arms -- good luck on tonight's test. And, thanks for the good wishes -- I hear ya loud and clear about eyesight. I never take it for granted!
Dahlia, I gather "yardsaling" is what we call "tag sales" here Connecticut, and in New Hampshire and Vermont they are called "garage sales." Discover anything good?? I know many people who comb the countryside buying goods to resell on eBay. Glad you enjoyed your nap. Em, yep, that's hot! Have a safe trip home tomorrow ... Just waiting around for Russ to come home and then we are going out to dinner. Nothing fancy, just a neighborhood restaurant for a salad -- he usually has a full meal. He's definitely a meat and potatoes guy. Cathy must be busy packing or cutting her hair! OK, ladies, time to play a little solitaire on the computer. Catch ya all later! Terry |
Hi Ladies
Hello Colleen and welcome..you won me over when you said "lather, rinse..repeat" we like to giggle around here ;) Hi T..just got your email..i'm glad that everything worked out well :D (knew it would) i was looking at websites last week trying to find a hairstyle that i like and i found a couple of pictures on greatestlook.com that i'm thinking of taking with me and no i have'nt been sheared yet :s: I got a letter from Jacqui today and she sent three pics of Olivia..she has 2 teeth..is crawling and standing up :) just watch i'll get there and she'll take off running!! on one of them she is wearing the sunglasses that i sent her but Jacqui must have been too close and did'nt get all of her head in  which is a pity because she's smiling and it would have been a good one. I posted them over at Yahoo. Meg..i've seen waitresses carrying all those plates..its quite the balancing act  and sure to build muscles like Terry said. Dahlia..i have'nt been doing Pilates recently i've been treadmilling but it certainly does stretch your spine out. |
Hello Darlings,
Colleen, welcome to our group. You are about to be introduced to a most wonderful group of special ladies. They rock! I must admit your post had me giggling, I'm a chuckler like Cathy and when you made the shampoo comment I thought to myself "There's a girl whose gonna fit right in!" Post often so we can get to know you better and congratulations on the pounds lost thus far. We're all in agreement that it's a Lifestyle change not a diet so the slower the better as that means it won't be coming back! Great job. I'm turning 30 next month (whoa, was a bit dizzy for a moment trying to remember where the heck my 20's went:dizzy: ) I'm married to Erwin, we celebrate our 6th anniversary next Saturday and I have no kids, but two dogs who are under the impression that they fit the bill. Their names are Tuffy and Toby. Now you know a bit about me :) Emily, that Pampered Piggies party sounded awesome. I love stuff like that and if I can learn to do it myself so much the better. I really don't like feet and I don't like a stranger buffing any part of me  I'm also so darn ticklish that the first time I went for a pedicure I darn near booted Lori in the mouth. Oops...I'm much better now though. Dahlia, I love yardsaling but never get a chance to go because I'm not a great driver (am awful with directions) I'm glad you had a good time and let me know how that new recipe turned out. I like the Campbells' recipes as they're easy to follow and have ingredients in them that you'd find in the pantry. Cathy, holy cow has Olivia ever grown! She's such a doll and I love that pic of her. I'll have to pop over to Yahoo to check out her others. You're so lucky. Terry, what can I say? You know I love ya. I'm so glad to hear all is well and you're feeling great. I've heard from Sunny so that's a go. Let's both try not to go crazy on the weekend. Meg, way to go with your training. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you did well on that test. I know you aced it though, you're such a bright cookie! Tomorrow we have tickets for Miss Saigon so I'm quite excited about that. I also had my official weigh in this morning and am down to 147 even so I'm thrilled! I think I will take my measurements again too just to see if anything else is moving and shaking (well besides my butt :s: ) Doesn't matter how much I lose that darn cellulite is still there. Oh well who cares! That's what support hose are for...to squish your tush and belly in...oh the joys of dressing up. Off to take the dogs for their walk. Have a wonderful Friday evening gals, Pam |
Hey everyone...thanks for the nice welcome! I'll warn ya....I'm a big ol' whiner....a former co-worker nicknamed me Miss Patience, and with good reason...I have none. So this losing weight thing is HARD for me. I'm still waiting for the first ten pounds to be gone....though maybe they are...I didn't weigh myself until a couple or three weeks into this endeavor.
But I do want to say this--I want to take all those people who say "it's just math....calories in vs calories out" and smack 'em. According to that formula and what I've been keeping track of on fitday.com, I should be dropping a pound every three days. HA! Anyway...it was another long week at the Job That Eats My Brain (and sometimes sucks out my will to live...;) ), and after work I headed to the Y for 15 minutes on the elliptical and 30 on the treadmill, so I done good. Then I came home and had mexican food. :o But I'm still in my calorie allowance for the day. Hope everyone has a nice weekend. Yoga class starts up again tomorrow morning..YAY! I love it, even though it is QUITE the workout. Colleen |
Morning!
Colleen, I'll stand right behind you when you decide to smack them. Now that I have been doing the South Beach Diet, I realize more than ever it's also what you eat that counts too. As I have said before, when I was doing WW, all my points were carb heavy. At least now I am more conscious of what makes me gain and what doesn't. Confession time: I caved last night though and had a sugar attack so I ate some red twizzlers and some cookies -- my stomach is not doing so well this morning. Now I just need to remember this for when my next attack comes. If I can't stop at one, then don't have any. Cathy, she's beautiful! I need to go over to Yahoo and see the other pictures you posted. Two teeth already -- she's cutting them early I think. Hey, she can be penpals with Ian when they get a bit older :) . Sorry, Em, I'm fixing them up already! Pam, I bet you were smiling ear to ear at your weigh-in -- awesome, lady :) ! I keep forgetting you are only 7 years older than my daughter. Any plans for such a momentous birthday? Dahlia, now that Cathy mentioned Pilates, I did have a doctor give me back exercises once and they helped tremendously. He also said that by strengthening your abs, you strengthen your back too. Russ and I went browsing the stores last night looking for a TV for Katie and Stu. We were going to buy them a washer and dryer but his parents beat us to the punch, so I thought they could use a bigger TV as there's is a 19" from college. An early Christmas present :) . Meg, how'd ya do on the test???!!!! Looks like it's going to be a beautiful day as there isn't a cloud in the sky. A good day to sit on the deck and read -- just have to clean it first as it's mess after yesterday's rain. Happy Saturday everyone! |
Hey, Cathy, I didn't see the new pics of Olivia at Yahoo -- and my eyes are better than before! Is there another site that you did them on rather than the TPAT?? But, I did compare Jacqui's baby picture with Olivia -- she definitely has her mom's features. She's going to be a looker!
|
Morning Ladies
 T..come after me with a :rollpin: will ya? i forgot to CONGRATULATE you on losing ANOTHER 2LBS!! :bravo: l did'nt put the pics on TPAAT they are on my site @ http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/cathy_cat15 l use this one to direct family to so they can look at holiday pics etc ;) but l don't think they ever do  they are'nt a very :comp: literate bunch  they would rather :write: than surf the net or download a messenger on to their :comp: l was thinking the same thing of Olivia but then i remembered that her Mum was walking at 9mths so looks like she's going to be the same :D then Jacqui will have fun trying to keep up with her  Lucky Katie and Stu..what generous parents they have :D I'm annoyed with hubby this morning  i'd had my dinner before he came home so all he had to do when he got in was to put the potatoes and corn on to a plate in the oven (that had a large steak on it!) and enjoy..little did i know that he saw the crockpot was on..which had tonights dinner in and thought "hmmm, :chin: looks a little raw" so he turned it onto high and i got up this morning to find a steak in the oven because he did'nt look in there  and my beef (tonights dinner) burnt in the crockpot :rollpin: he'd better keep outta my way today. |
Cat - tried to access the photos - couldn't see them. Can you look at the link again?
Terry - so you are liking SB Diet? I am slowly starting to faze back into atkins. Like this morning I had an omelette without the potatoes, but still had the bread. I am going carbless (except for veggies) the rest of the day. I also made a GREAT iced tea that is decaf mint (I made suntea, and used 2 mint tea bags with it). Colleen - I use fitday also. Good for you for exercising. My goal is to get to the gym next week as well. Pam - enjoy Miss Saigon. I have seen it 5 times, and LOVE it. I saw it in London twice, New York once, and Chicago twice (can you tell I love theatre?). Well, there was no quiz. But I now know the wines and beers backwards and forwards. I studied for 3 hours yesterday. What a geek I am! I guess they figured that because I worked at the other location I knew everything. Today I made a list of everyone who we are giving xmas gifts to, and started to assign gifts. I am planning on doing alot of baking this year to save $$. I found a website that talks about baking and freezing cookies. Then all I need to do is wrap them. I started baking in August of last year, and it totally helped. I just thawed them in December and put them in gift bags. This year I am going to do chocolate dipped pretzels and fudge in addition to cookies. I am too organized for my own good! Hope you guys are having a great day! Meg |
I'd say you are organized, Meg! LOL It's 102 out and you are thinking of baking for Christmas in July?! I"m just not motivated enough to be that orgnaized and have a nagging fear that if there were cookies in the freezer they might not make it until December
Well, I am back in Canada land and it's still H-O-T!! For another good week...oh well, enjoy it becuase it's a short season here right?? Boys travelled great as usual, but I'm tired today! Didn't help that I stayed up until 1am visiting with a sis and BIL-- It was great fun and I'm so glad my boys know and love their cousins. Watching those 5 little boys (plus 2babies) was a hoot :) Now the laundry pile and trip to the grocery store...my 2 favorite things NOT. JIm's sister and family are on their way through tomorrow so I have to make some kind of semblance of a real meal. They are travelling from Wyoming up to Jim's parents, but stopping here for a couple days. More fun with cousins! (They have 5 kids- oldest 12) Cat- I couldn't access your pics either :( Well, I'm going to start gung-ho again here on Monday. Ian will be 3 months and you can only have that new baby excuse for so long. I really need to start exercising regularly even if it's walking...I WILL REPORT! Well, I need to run and get my Saturday stuff done before I lose my day! Emily |
 i just saw my mistake  i should have put an underslash after cathy not a - so i've fixed it and it works now ;) boy oh boy..those cookies would'nt last here Meg :nono: i'm such a greedy  i've eaten a kilo of chocolate fingers in about a week i'm just addicted to them :yikes: good job they have'nt affected my weight! I've only got 2 weeks left before i leave so i'd better be good and try and drop a few before i leave..it would be nice to get under 150lbs before i go :cloud9:
Hopefully all of your good intentions will rub of on me and i'll get OP..back tomorrow..Goodnight  |
Good Morning! :)
Cathy, I very much enjoyed your photo album -- thanks for sharing with us. I love your home and the gorgeous views that surround you guys. And, what an undertaking that greenhouse was -- I didn't realize it was that involved. Got a charge out of you laying pipe -- what a woman! :D And, I don't even have to tell you what a cutie Olivia is especially in grandma's glasses hogging the camera! I can see it now -- you are going to have a hard time leaving that little love. Meg, God bless you -- making Christmas cookies in July -- that is impressive! I thought I had read somewhere that you can freeze cookies upto 6 months -- hey, you're a month behind, you should have started baking in June  ! Emily, glad to see that you made it back fine 'n dandy :) . How long of a ride is it to your folks? Ian is 3 months already -- he seems so much older than 12 weeks. Enjoy your next batch of company -- between you and Dahlia, you two are our social butterflies. Morning Colleen, Carol, Pam and the rest of the gang ! We made a quick trip to New Hampshire yesterday to deliver the TV to Katie and Stu. We had to leave at 4:30am because Russ needed help carrying in the TV, and because Stu had to leave for work at 9am, that meant we had to get there by 8am. Not much traffic that early in the AM! We did hit quite a bit of mist and fog so it was a bit spooky. Stopped for dinner right before we got home -- wine and steaks. It turned out to be a very enjoyable day. Meg, anxious to hear how your job went this weekend .... This house is a disaster zone which is usually the case every Monday around here. Have a lot of store work to do today too so I had better get a move on. Hope everyone has a good day! :) |
Hello all am back from a week in the caravan with mum and my boys and am frantically trying to catch up with the washing before heading off 'up north' with Ray and the boys for a week. We're going to Aviemore, close to loch ness, so if you hear about anybody find the monster on the news over the next couple of weeks, look closely cause my boys are determined we are going to find it :) :)
Cathy how long will you be in Glasgow, bet it's a quick turn around and in the middle of the night. I am only 45 minutes from the airport, most of the time, 1.5 hours during rush hour.:( Have decided that my exercise needs to step up a gear. Ray has brought me a new bike and has just finished assembling it - am off for a trial run around the houses. Will pop back later |
For some reason I can't access the forums on my reg. browser (IE) but can on Netscape. I thought it was down all yesterday and today- finally tried Netscape on a whim and there you all are! I don't know what's wrong...
Tired today- still catching up from my travels and company and the HEAT and all that. It's going to be Hot all week- don't feel like cooking or eating really. Hey! maybe I'll drop some weight! Too bad I still have to cook for my family. I think Ian is awake upstairs (And if he's not he will be soon since I can hear Connor screaming at Brendan!) I'll try to be back later Emily |
Hi Ladies
Terry..she looks a "rum 'un" in those glasses does'nt she? Dame Edna (not to mention Elton :s: ) eat your hearts out  l was just comparing the latest photos with the last ones and Pam is right she has grown! she almost looks like a toddler playing with her teddies :D l hope it does'nt break my heart too much when i have to leave  The pictures of me laying pipe were only added this morning  at 1.30am i could'nt sleep because of the heat so started going through pics to see what i could add ;) Carol..it will be afternoon when we get to Glasgow although it will really be morning for us then we've got to add 8hrs for the time diff :dizzy: i just hope that we have'nt to sit on the tarmac for too long before we continue to Manchester  last time it was over 2 hrs and it made the total 'ordeal' 16hrs! Hope you're enjoying your hols and good luck finding the monster ;) Its stinking hot here too Em..i'm only in the mood for icecream and ice lollies today  ooh..i've just changed channels and its a repeat of that fantastic Oprah show with all the gorgeous women on that lost a ton of weight...think i'd better watch it :s: |
