Morning all,

- sure is not a typical one. Looking at the pictures from Superstorm Sandy. God love those NY'ers. Standing on dark streets waiting for intermittent buses to take them to work. But I have to wonder too what will happen if the office itself is dark?

And yes, I'm going to state the obvious. Big difference between Sandy and Katrina and how people handled it. Godspeed to those cleaning up and getting back to normal again. Will be interesting to see how they handle the flooded subway tunnels. NY like Chicago is a huge mass transit town. Most people rely on public transportation so I wonder how they will deal with the situation quickly as many don't have the means to swap to a car if needed. Cabs will be at a premium I'm sure.
Mel - I hope the damage to your building was minimal and you kept the seniors cool and calm. Glad to hear you won't be long without power. At least I hope not. Post when you can.
Annie - hope you got a hot pad for work. Also if you freeze a bottle of water, it fits right in the crook of the back and works as an impromtu ice pack if the pain gets too bad. Shame you had to run back to work so quickly. Feel better - *sending you a virtual back rub and a tube of non-stinky Ben-gay* And I made the bruchetta chicken yesterday for dinner. It smelled marvelous and tasted soooooo good. Thank you very much. Could not have been easier to do. I'm glad I read the directions and used fresh tomatoes instead of canned. There's enough left for a second meal.
Patty - oh boy - it's hard to have a job that requires you to sit in frequent meetings discussing things that need to get done which you can't do because you are sitting in frequent meetings

Delegate when ever you can and don't try to do everything yourself. As for trick or treaters I'm thinking the only ones we will get is the band of turkeys that roams our yard. We live in an area where the houses are set pretty far apart - parents would have to drive the kids around. There are several "trunk and treat" locations set up in town at churches and public facilities where you can drive to a parking lot and the kids go from car to car and you hand out treats. I think that's a much better idea. Trick or treating is from 4pm to 6 in our town today and I am working so DH is going to have to deal with any kids - I will leave him a small bag of candy - it will be over by the time I get home. I just hope the owner left some treats in case any kids show up at the store today.
I looked at the weather forecast for Java's town and they were only predicting an inch of snow so I hope she was far enough away from where the big dumping happened.
Ceejay - the epicenter of the earthquake was pretty close to home

I will never forget when they said it would take 18 SECONDS underground for a quake from the New Madrid fault to hit Memphis. Towards the end I was really freaked out about an earthquake hitting and ruining all of our plans to retire. I was very relieved to get out to be honest. Interesting how you describe the puff of wind. Glad it wasn't a big one and nothing was damaged.
Shad - hope your day improved.
Gotta jump in the shower and get ready for the day ahead. Hellos to the rest of the chicks - will catch up later.
