September Sassy Sisters of the Worldlie Type
Ayyyyy, you ask for it, you got it Sistahs. ;)
Rolling out of a not too bad August into Sassy September for the Wordlie Chickee Babes. Thanks for the title suggestion Annie - I was thinking of incorporating Sassy into the title and yours is great. Sassy the puppy is ADORABLE. Love the pictures. She looks so soft and cuddly. Her face looks like a mix - are you sure she's all Chihuahua? Glad she's a sweet girl. Ok, let me set up the links and finish housekeeping for the new thread rollover. |
Alrighty, back again.
Last night we went out for a fish fry. Except that mine was broiled  We were going to go out to one of the lakes and try and capture a picture of the "blue" moon except that I guess the butter on the fish was a bit rich for me. I really need to get in the habit of eating yogurt on a regular basis to easy up the queasy tummy issues. Not that I don't have at least 6 cartons sitting in the refrigerator waiting on me. DH is about to go off to the cousin's house who offered us a good pile of split wood that he can't fit into his storage shed. Will make for many a nice fire in the pit outside. We still have warm days but the nights are getting cool again so a fire will be nice. I also noticed that the trees give off alot of moisture at night - just like camping in the woods so about an hour after sunset things like the chair frame and seats start to get rather damp. Makes the fire all the more cozy. Anyway DH got a snap or two but wound up getting to the lake later than planned because he had to drop me back at home. He said the pictures will come out better if there is still a bit of dusk light in the sky rather than total blackness so we might try again tonight. My Mom might be scheduled for her heart shock test the end of this week, depends on how her blood tested yesterday. He regular doc is eager to get this on with - apparently there is a heart valve that thickens up with the atrial fibrilation, if it gets too thick the heart shock (to get the heart beating back into a regular rhythm) will be ineffective so he is anxious to get this done. It's just that her numbers (for the degree of coagulation in the blood) need to be in a steady range and they have been erratic all along. Hard to decide what is the right thing to do because it's a bit of damned if you do, damned if you don't. DH too is starting to get a bit antsy with his treatment. His numbers have been very much in range with the coumadin meds and he goes every other week for blood testing. Thanks to the new medical plan in retirement, we not only pay a high price for health insurance, but also foot a much larger piece of the cost of treatment. So these frequent blood tests mean we only get to buy groceries 3 weeks out of 4 in the month  Anyway he is eager to get to the next step as this going to the doctor ever week it seems is getting old. My Mom is tired of the trips too because unlike DH who can pop in the car, Mom needs to bum a ride from someone as it's too hot and difficult for her to take the bus any more. I was hoping to go spend some time with her after the procedure but I'm sure that's exactly how the timing came together and I was offered a job  Not much else going on. It's quiet and sunny. I need to finish my data entry and want to organize the freezer and make a meal plan to use up some of the stuff that's been in the freezer for a while. Since I'll be right in town tomorrow, I guess I'll just pop over to the grocery store after I get out of the shop. I'll come back later for more personals. |
Happy...thanks for starting the new thread and using my suggestion for the title....miss Sassy is sleeping in my lazyboy chair at the moment. She has SO FAR been very good. She has pottied outside everytime. Hope she catches on and tells me when instead of me taking her out ever 30-45 minutes. That is how I trained my last two dogs and it worked out well. Hope she is just as smart.
Sassy has already reminded me of Hella B. I rolled a ball to her and she rolled it back with her nose/mouth. Several times...just like Hella B. Made my eyes water. Sissy, Ainsley and I went shopping today...Lil Man is sick with a cold AGAIN. He is cutting about 4 more teeth. He was in a pretty good mood but still yet a lil crancky. God love him. Anyway, got hair supplies at the outlet for cosmetologist (Sissy). Then went to Walmart and got grocerices and what not. Fixing ranch burgers on the grill even if it is raining like Isaac. Tatos in the oven. Salad with fresh garden fixings. A little jealous.....Chris's parents are keeping Ainsley and lil man over night tonight. First time. Not bad for 11 months and I have been the only sitter. Guess they decided I needed a break...Really??? let me decide the break! Gotta get the dishwasher unloaded and dinner started...have a marvy evening and morning. Love and Hugs.... |
Guess I have lost all track of time because I really thought today was the last day of August. Now I have to catch up a couple of days. Lucky I found out now though because tomorrow I have to get dressed up and go to an expensive dentist to talk about fitting an implant. Ouch on my bank balance. This tooth will likely cost around $7K allthough there is likely to be two teeth on the one implant since the rotten tooths neighbour is also on the way out. Ah well better make the most of today.
Shortly I will go out and dig over the rest of the vege garden and plant some carrots, beetroot and sweet corn and some more lettuce. The last lot have grown nicely and yesterday I went and sprayed them with liquid fertiliser. They should probably leap out of the ground today  and the whole thing needs to watered and mulched. Then it willbe back to the hole in the ground in the front garden and get on with that although I don't see a lot happening there today because the DS2 has taken most of the power tools around to the rental house and I don't fancy trying to make a saw cut with a hand saw on a 10x2 inch solid sleeper or rather 3 of them and and some with more than one cut. I could of course always go round there and steal the circular saw. Or buy another one. Annie - sorry if you got upset with my crack about Sassy not being a dog. In my mind unless they are over 30kilos and stand over knee high, they are not a dog and unfortunately some breeders seem to take their responsibilities to the dog very lightly and the breed is not known over here for its temperament. Enjoy the dog. Probably rolls the ball around with her nose because she can't fit it in her mouth. Happy - thanks for setting up the thread. I guess I should get back to work if I am forgetting the time and the day. Or maybe I am getting into the wind down mode after that last contract. Sure took me long enough. Glad to hear that you have a part time job. The symptoms you are having with butter issues sound remarkably similar to those that I had when going through menopause. Listen to the gut, substitute natural yoghurt or creme fraiche for cream and oil for butter (except on toast when butter is the only thing that will do) Since the day is getting on, better get on with it. Back later. |
THANKS HAPPY FOR GETTING US OUT OF AUGUST!!
I DIDN'T WANT TO BE LEFT BEHIND!! I HAVEN'T READ ANY POSTS YET AND WON'T BE ON FOR ANOTHER DAY OR TWO. EYES ARE IMPROVING VERY QUICKLY BUT STILL PAINFUL WITH LIGHTS.. HAPPY WEEKEND:beach: |
Thunder boomers kept me awake till around 2.15 this morning. We got some much needed rain also. They had us under a flash flood warning and I'm sure some there was street flooding. My lawn looked green this morning for this first time in a while.
Happy Thanks for setting up the new thread. Hello's to every one else. Have a safe holiday. |
Good morning ladies,
Have I mentioned that I HATE THE ADS on this site. The interactive ads that are just waiting for you to hover over them interfere with typing a post. And I have proved it out so I know that's the case. I understand since this site is free they need to generate revenue and I'm ok with it but some of the ads are really annoying. Yesterday we went out for Chinese food for dinner. :T Then we went over to the lake area where DH took pictures the other night. We were out on a small boat dock and waited and waited and waited. The moon was coming up behind a large plot of trees. We could see it peeking out on the horizon and it was nice and big but by the time it cleared the tree line it was normal sized. I need to read the manual in regards to taking night shots as none of mine has come out thus far. The night before I went to bed at 3am :o and knew I had to get up early today so I tried that Zzzzzquil sleep aid stuff. Works great! I don't think I was up 5 minutes after my head hit the pillow. I got a good night's sleep and am now wondering how I'm going to make it standing on my feet for 8 hours straight today. Actually I'm not sure how long I will work today or if it's just a mini orientation kind of thing. I've got to go jump in the shower and get ready so sorry no personals for now. Will try to come back later and let you know how things went. Hope y'all have a nice Sunday :D |
Shad, Shad, Shad.....no offense taken. Too funny but you are not alone in thinking she is not a dog...hahah. She gives me much happiness and full of character....AND Curtis wanted to name her Shadow..Shad for short...we both loved the name but felt it would be disrepectful to you. She truly is my shadow...follows me everywhere. Even if she is mellow, sweet and calm, at least the name Sassy fits her owner...lol....I truly do NOT sweat the small stuff....just worry about dumb things.
Happy....glad you liked the zzzz quil. I like it myself. We were too cloudy over Indy to even glimpse at the blue moon. Sassy and I layed out on the back patio watching the clouds hoping for a view. Nadda...next chance is 2015. Boooo since the world ends December 2012...lol. CEEG....we got about 15 minutes of rain so far which was supposed to be 3 days of rain. It all came right when I was grilling out last night. Hopefully we will get some rain today...so far...not. MELLIE...hope your eyes and whatever else needs to feel better, feel much better. Hope you got to see the pix of Miss Sassy....maybe I will repost. Gotta get moving, it is already 10:30 and all I have done is unload the dishwasher. Curtis went back to bed cause he got up at 5, couldn't sleep any longer. Now he is snoring. Go figure! Loves and hugs... |
Thanks, Happy, for starting the new thread. Congrats on the new part time job.
Annie - Miss Sassy is adorable. Sorry ladies, I'm not up for writing personals. Let's just say I discovered some news late Thursday night that had me unable to work on Friday. I stayed in bed most of Friday and yesterday (except I did manage to get to my hair appointment). I'm going to try and declutter today...but let's just say that trying to mend a broken heart and having important and painful discussions to try and fix an injured marriage are hard work, and I'm fairly exhausted. Of course, crying does take a lot out of a person. I'll go into the details some day...there's fault and pain inflicted on both sides. In the meantime, can I ask for your prayers for me and DH that we can make our marriage work? Much love, |

Morning all,
Woke up this morning at 4.00am all fired up about where my wallet was. I couldn't remember seeing it yesterday. Of course it was sitting on the dining table all the time. Silly me. Dentist today - expensive one - looking to see about implants - not really looking forward to that but it needs to be done. I suspect that half of my sinus problems are related to the fact that some of my teeth are not good. Annie - I wouldn't have minded you using Shad's name. My fatchick name is after all the same name as the dog I used to have. His name was Shad O Clover. But Sassy would have had a lot to live up to with that name. Mel - hope the eyes are getting better all the time. Maybe you will be back with us during the week. I think I should speak with you as well - just to ensure you are not doing things you ought not to do - so maybe later this week?? Ceejay - isn't it amazing how grass greens up so fast. Before you know it you will need to mow it again. Happy - Hate all ads but understand the necessity for them. Just hope that the powers that be realise that any ad that interferes with what I am doing at the time is the product that will be banned from my shopping basket. So far most of them are being ignored. Have to admit that occasionally I will click on some outrageous claim or other just to satisfy my curiosity. Never bought anything tho' but got a laugh or two out of a couple of them. Good luck with the job today. Michelle - whatever is the problem in your life, ensure you do not close the door on something that you have loved up until now. Ensure you have all of the facts before making any decisions and then weigh up the information before coming to any momentous and possibly permanent decisions. Take the emotion out of the situation and deal only with facts. It makes decisions much easier. Life is fraught with strange happenings and not all of them are exactly what seems obvious now. I will keep you in my thoughts and if you need any help then let me know. Anyway, better get on with the shower and the gathering of courage, not long to the dentist now. Thank heaven it is a fairly early appointment and I don't have all day to sit around thinking about it. See ya |
Hi everyone. Just a quick pop-in.
Happy- thanks for setting up our new thread. Congrats on the new job. How did today go?? Love that hummingbird pic! Annie - Sassy's adorable. :) I think it's the ears that make her look different than the typical chihauha. Yesterday was circuit class & housecleaning. Late afternoon was a "taste of" festival in a suburb w a large Italian population. One booth has the best rice balls (Arancini). Yum. Today was some more housecleaning & bf's mum came for dinner. We had grilled salmon & corn & Thai cukey salad. Yum. Just kicking back watching some tv right now. Nothing planned for tomorrow 'cept for more cleaning & laundry. |

Happy Sunday/Monday all & Happy Labor Day. I didn't refresh or something last night (or maybe I can blame it on the ads, haha), but I missed a lot of posts.
Shad- I hope the dentist Appt wasn't too bad. 7k sounds very painful!! Good thing your wallet wasn't lost- you'll certainly need it. :halffull: Mel- glad to hear your eyes are improving, but sorry to hear about the other stuff. And all the alarms sure didn't help!! :tantrum: Everything happens on the weekend!!! I sure hope today will be calm for you & you can rest up & recover. Ceejay- of course you want & need the rain & so of course you get flooding. Mother nature is quite the jokester. Are you working today? Michelle- I hope things are looking brighter after sleeping on things a couple days. Praying you and dh find your way through this problem and come out with a stronger marriage. Hellos to the rest of you. Java, new month here- hope to see you pop in for a quick visit. Nothing much to report after my late post yesterday. Gonna read the paper I didn't get a chance to read yesterday. And there's another one on the driveway today - a holiday freebie I guess. Off to brew some tea. :coffee2: |
Mel- thanks for reminding me to check out Happy's artist link. But my tiny iPhone screen sure doesn't do her work any justice. Gonna have to go to the big monitor in the home office to get the full effect! Thanks for the link Happy!

Morning
Laura Yes, I'm at work. So far so good. Mel Bless you, you already have had a busy day. Glad you are feeling better. Annie The dog is really cute and looks playful. Happy How did your work day go? Praying that the day is quiet. but their will be some that will forget and call. thinking that the light office is open. |
Good morning ladies -
Thanks for all your love and support. DH and I are working on moving past the hurt. We had a nice evening yesterday at the races. It was very much like old times. Today, he's going to rest and try and get over a sinus infection before he has to fly to CA on Thursday. I'm going to attempt a bit of decluttering. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to get back for personals later. Much love to all of you, Michelle |
Clomp.... drag.... clomp.... drag....
The lurking, sneaky turtle crawled along, dragging her shell, and followed all you lovely ladies into September. Hello and how'dyou do? :coffee2:
|
Good morning ladies,
I made it through the first day on the job and what a day it was. Outside of a 15 minute break while I ate my lunch (quickly) I was on my feet constantly from 10am to 6pm. Came home too tired to even eat. I thought of Annie running around at CVS after working all day and I don't know how you did it woman. :faint: The owners are super super nice people and they were very patient with me. It was an awful lot to learn at once because you do everything - greet customers, bag popcorn, restock shelves, run the cash register, clean up and a multitude of other things that get done to open for the day and shut down at night. To go from retirement and getting mush brain to hyper activity was quite a challenge. I am glad that I have some comfy shoes but at the end of the day my back and feet were looking forward to a nice soak in the tub  I guess I did ok because the owner talked to me about working more hours than just the weekends and at the end of the day she gave me a key to the store. They have had the store for 4 years and I think it was mostly just those 2 doing it all and they are open 7 days a week so I think they are happy to get some help and a break. I was most nervous about the cash register. There are 3 different pricing structures and 3 different sizes plus 2 specialties so that makes 11 possible prices to try and get straight. I'm sure it will come with time. This is the last big weekend for the tourist type crowds so it should slow down alot after this. I can have all the popcorn, frozen yogurt or drinks that I want but I was happy with just water yesterday. Funny, after a bit you don't even notice the popcorn smell although when I came back from lunch I noticed the smell of fresh popped popcorn as soon as I walked in the door and last night sitting and talking to DH, I realized how I smelled of it. There are worse things to smell like  I do like it even though it's strenuous and I will probably wind up working more than I thought I would. Don't think I'm up for full time though, I'd still like some days to myself but we'll see how it goes. I could have gone to bed at 9 last night but went to bed at 11 (which is early for me) and slept like the dead. Awoke at 6am today awake and ready to go if not a bit stiff. DH was laughing, said no more 3am nights for me anymore  Michelle - I'm sorry that you are DH are having some troubled times right now. I do hope you can work past whatever is causing the problem. Believe me, I understand - this coming from someone who was thinking this week that maybe we should be part time spouses as this full on 7 x 24 thing is a bit much ;) I'm glad to hear you had a nice day together. Take it one day at a time and keep the lines of communication open. And heaven knows, there are some things you will never both agree on - in that case one of the two of you has to learn to let it go. Wishing you well my friend  Always there if you need to talk. Ceejay - shame that you have to work on a holiday but I hope it's quiet for you. Looks like Isaac cracked the whip and gave you guys a taste of his tail with the storms and all. Laura - yes you will have to look at the artwork on a full sized screen. I love her prints. I'm sure I'm going to have to be working the day of her next art showing so maybe that's a good thing. She does beautiful stuff. Hope you have a relaxing weekend with tea and the Sunday paper to browse over. Shad - OMG those implants are so pricey!!!! I really should get 3 myself but I just can't really justify that sort of money. And one of the guys at my last job who got one said that once in, some foods like popcorn will be banned forever as I guess certain hard foods could break the tooth. So maybe they are the porcelain china of teeth :D  Great advice you gave to Michelle - applies to any of us. Mel - actually the ad I had the most trouble with was the one for the Republican candidate. If the mouse came anywhere near the ad, it would pop up with him talking. More annoying than the Garmin lady on the GPS  Shuddup already!!! I'm glad you liked the picture of the hummingbird. That was a lucky shot. Now my camera is out of focus and I have to read the manual to get it back again. Seems like everytime I try to take night shots, it gets hosed up. I'm glad the woman in the office learned her lesson about gossiping. Sorry it was at your expense but she was lucky she picked someone who didn't take it harder than you did. Holy Geez you've had a crazy busy weekend so far - hang in there - full moon is over with for now  Annie - hope you are enjoying the weekend with all your friends and family. Yes, if you named Sassy in honor of Shad's Shad then that would be big paws to fill as Shad was a special dog. I guess perhaps the mix of long and short hair parents softens the chihuahua look. Back in TN the nail salon owners had the cutest dog that was a mix of chihuahua and something else - sadly one day someone opened their gate and stole the dog. Bad people :rollpin: I think many of us associate little dogs to being high strung but I think they have bred a calmer demeanor in them. Ellen - hope you are having a nice weekend with the family. DH went in the back over an hour ago to take a nap and the longer I sit here, the sleepier I get. However I do need to go to the grocery store. Hopefully by now everyone has come and gone to do their holiday BBQ shopping and I hope the store is not crowded. So I guess I will get off the computer and get a move on here. Have a good day chicks. |
 Hello Java, glad you found the new pond here :D
|
Afternoon chicks! Had a busy weekend and didn't hop o the computer at all except to read a little yesterday at work. Will catch everyone up tomorrow...we slept in and now most of the day is gone!

Good morning everyone! Whew…what a weekend! Where to start???
Saturday DH and I took the Metra into the city, and caught one of the “El” trains to the Cubs game. We had a good time. This is the 4th one we’ve been to and we really enjoy going, even tho DH makes a big stink about the Cubs. I worked Sunday and got off in time to make it to church for a change. Dh took the kids at our “regular” time and went to a friends BBq. I was not feeling very well after, so we both headed to bed pretty early. Monday we slept in/lazed around then took the kids to a nearby trail and walked for a bit. Poor DD3 got really hot…had little red cheeks and sweaty hair. I had to send Everyone else ahead and take it slowly with her to get her to finish…she is way too big for me to carry and DH had already carried her on his shoulders. It turned out to be a good thing we saw a deer eating only about 20 ft from us. I got a pic with my phone will check it out and post if any good. Today is back to normal. Dh is starting his day here at home cause he has an Ortho apt at 11:30. I should be meeting mom for her Mall walk…will try to go for a full one once she is done. DS and DD1 have another Cross Country meet this afternoon. Prob will have Turkey burgers for dinner. Have to find a side to go with it…Mac & cheese for the kids and veg for me and DH. Mel~Glad yesterday was quiet for you. Continue to rest and feel better…how is Jen’s foot…still healing? Happy~wow, your job sounds busy, I don’t know if I could do a full 8hr shift on my feet…between my knees and my lower back, I think I would be crying…or have to take some heavy duty drugs to get me thru the day. Hello Java!! Glad to see you are still with us! Michelle~So very sorry that you are going thru all of this right now. I’ve been praying for you and your family. Ceejay~How was work? Laura~Anything good in the paper? We did not get as much rain as was predicted, but it has been nice that we have gotten a little over a few days. Shad~I hope your trip to the dentist went well, I could not imagine having to pay full price for that tho…thank goodness for insurance! It definitely puts into perspective the 2 small bills we owe for medical. Annie~Sassy is so very cute! Hope the training continues to go well Ok ladies, I have to get rolling. Gotta get some breakfast and get ready. Luv and hugs ladies!! Have an awesome Tuesday!! |
Ellen
Like your mantra. We all need to take each day as it comes. My day at work was really good for a change for a holiday week end. Michelle Glad that you and dh are working through the problems. Happy Wow, getting the key on the first day is a great compliment. They must really liked and trusted you. But who wouldn't. It's a little different than sitting all day huh. I'm not sure I could ever get used to the popcorn smell. Mel Glad that your Monday was a quiet one also. I get to rest on Thursday. Hi Annie Know you were busy over the week end. ------ My day yesterday was pretty quiet. Had a few sewer calls but that's about it. Started getting a headache late yesterday afternoon and I'm trying not to let it get full blown -My ear has been bothering me so that's probably the cause. |
Good morning girls,
Another work day for me. My back and foot are still a bit achey. I hope I make it thru the day ok. Yesterday we both took it easy - at least during the day. Then I made him go with me to the grocery store in the afternoon. I made chicken fajitas for dinner - they were good. Tried my new on the stove cast iron grill pan. The side I cooked the peppers on cleaned up really good as I lightly oiled the veggies before cooking. I had a chili lime marinade on the chicken and forgot to oil the pan before I set those on so that will require a bit of elbow grease to clean up. Will have to wait until tonight as it took me over an hour to clean up afterwards and then I had to break up the rotisserie chicken and bag and put away all the veggies and fresh fruit I bought. Got to put the garbage out tonight so I went through the refrigerators and cleaned them out as well as gathering the paper trash so it's all ready for DH to finish off. By the time I got done it was 9:30 and I had wanted to relax and watch a bit of TV before bedtime. When I'm cleaning my mind is going 60/40 with all sorts of stuff I'm thinking so if I try to go to bed right after, I just lay there wide awake. TV kind of shuts my brain down  As it was I didn't get to bed until after midnight and it took a while to fall asleep. When I have to get up in the morning for something like work or a trip, I wake up alot during the night afraid I will oversleep. I woke up at 5am today and couldn't fall back asleep. Maybe I'm channelling Annie  Sure to sleep good tonight tho. Mel - glad the police are looking after you, perhaps if the office people hear their concern they will think twice about pushing you so hard. Loved the Unsinkable Mellie thought! :D Ellen - sounds like you had a busy weekend with the kids. You are getting alot of walking in which is great. Except if you have to tow a hot, tired kid :( Yes, it's hard standing for 8 hours straight. Ironic that I didn't want to apply for a bank teller or checkout person's job because I didn't think I could stand all day long and now I have to deal with it anyway. At least this is part time. Don't think I could hold up for 40 or more hours. Anyway have a good week everyone. I have to get ready for my day. |
Ceejay - weren't you having migraine issues? I'm sure the weather changing won't help the sinuses and head either.

Good Tuesday Morning....
Miss Sassy is doing well on the potty training...she had one accident this morning, but that was my fault. She ate her breakfast then I take her out to potty, but I had my own potty issues and couldn't get her out in time. Made a slab of BBQ ribs last yesterday, slow cooked in the oven on 250 for the most part of the afternoon. Served with herb rice and made sauted zucchini. My brother and SIL came over for dinner. We sat out on the back patio deck and laughed and talked. Brother got a new job and starts next week. He will be traveling a lot. They also sold their house and are moving to Cincinnati, Ohio, only because they want to. His job can be done anywhere in the United States. While the ribs were slow baking in the oven, I took Miss Sassy over to my dad's house. He loved her. Called her a babydoll. Once she gets potty trained, he wants to "dog sit" her some days while I am at work. Too cute. I am all for it. I also ran dad to CVS to pick up his scripts. All and all it was a nice afternoon spent with Dad. We went over to Sissy's house on Sunday for a bit so Ainsley could meet Sassy. Curtis went in Ainsley's room with her and she proceeded to decorate C with a Tiara, earrings, nose ring, bracelet, a fake beauty queen bouquet, and a chinese paper fan, then made him come into the living room and dance for us. I laughed til I crieds. Lil man is sick with a cold again and feeling badly. He is cutting 3 more teeth and just not a very happy baby. God love him. I feel so sorry for him. ELLEN....nice you all got to take a little hike through the park. I remember the days of having to carry the wee ones, especially when all of us were hot and sweaty. CEEG...may be sinsuses causing the headache but the earache concerns me. Maybe you need to see the doc to nip whatever it is in the bud. MELLIE...Hoorah for the quiet weekend. Cops probably appreciate you more than you know expecially when they have to deal with so many other idiots. HI JAVA!! HAPPY...I feel for you standing on your feet all day. Wear two pairs of thicker socks, you won't believe how much it helps. Also when I took a shower, I plugged the drain so my fee stood in the hot water while showering...Popcorn, I love popcorn and the smell of it. I should create a "lite" popcorn perfume. haha. CHELLE....Happy Tuesday. May the force be with you today and all good things come your way...C. H. A. R. G. E. !!!! LAURA....ahhh hot tea and the newspaper..relaxing..sadly I only look at the flyer papers in the Sunday paper. Never had a rice ball, will have to google it. SHADDIE...Sassy has become Sassypants, Sassy-loo, S-roo, Sasprilla, Sassy a$$, Sas-a-Frass and many others. She answers to all of them. lol. Guess I had best get busy...lots to do, lil time to do it in. Have a great day/night. Loves and Hugs. |
Good morning ladies -
I have to keep this short and sweet (like me). I'm swamped with work today, and I have to run errands at lunch so that rules out working through lunch. Laura and Annie - Are we still on for this Saturday? I can't believe it's just a few days away already!! Laura, are we still meeting at your house (or somewhere in the City). Please PM us your address if we're meeting there. I don't even care what we do...I'm just thrilled to finally be meeting both of you! Best birthday present ever!! Ellen - I wish you could join us. Annie - I love the nicknames for Sassy! Too cute. Sorry I don't have time for personals, but I've got to get back to my projects. I want to thank ALL of you WONDERFUL Worldly sistas for your love, support, compassion and encouragement (and prayers of course). And especially for your wise advice. Thank you so much!! DH and I have been talking last night and this morning about how committed we are to making this work. And I feel much more hopeful that we'll be able to. Much love and many hugs, |
Morning all. Happy Tuesday!
Michelle - Yes, definitely still on for Saturday - sooo looking forward to it. I'll PM you my address. Glad you and DH are working through your issues. Annie - Glad Sassy is doing well. I'm not surprised at all the nicknames - we have dozens for Coal. ;) Mmmm, ribs. It'll have to cool off a bit before I let bf have my oven going for 3 hours though... kinda wish I had a 2nd oven in the basement sometimes. So cute that C. let A. dress him up...any photos?? :D Happy - If the owners gave you a key, they must really trust and like you. :) Good job! Hope you adjust to the standing part of the job. Even back in my youth when I was perfectly healthy/in decent shape, I had standing jobs and my back would get sore after being on my feet for hours. Same thing now, and I try to keep my abs sucked in to support my back, but still... moving around vs. just standing is a big help. Mmm, popcorn and frozen yogurt. Sounds good, but I'm sure you'll develop some immunity to that. Oh, I did check out the artwork on our big monitor - she's got some nice stuff, just beautiful. Ceejay - Glad your day was quiet. Hope the headache went away, hate those, especially migraines. Worried I forgot to take some excedrin migraine tabs today (TOM week started today), but I see I have a couple in my pillbox in my purse. Whew! Ellen - Busy weekend for you. Glad you rested part of Monday, and it's nice you all went for a trail walk together. Yeh, we didn't get much rain on the weekend, but apparently it rained (and some thunder too) overnight last night by us - I was sleeping like a log and didn't hear a thing - and we got some good moisture out of it. I didn't get too far into the paper since I was doing housework a good part of the weekend. Sometimes like Annie, I just sort through the sale flyers and don't get much further. Mel - Glad yesterday was quiet for you. Very nice of the cops to be concerned for you. Have a great restful day recovering from your weekend!!! Java - I see you found us. Lurk away!! Patty - Pop in for a visit okay? === Nuttin' much to report. Watched the dvd "Water for Elephants" yesterday morning. It was a book club book and I never did see the movie when it was in the theaters. It was good enough, but very sad in certain parts with the animals. Also watched an older movie "The Weatherman" with Nicholas Cage and Michael Caine. Ugh. Slow-paced, and it just never came together into a satisfying story. Told bf to not bother with it. Haven't bought any new class passes yet, not sure what I'm doing yet. Spinning is growing on me, but I'm only willing to do a certain number of classes a week, and I think I'd be better off with a class that works both upper and lower body. Also thinking of taking a yogalates class (yoga+pilates) offered by the school district. Not sure if I'm going to the movies tonight. I didn't vote, but the final selection is "Premium Rush". It sounds like something bf might also like, so I might go with him instead, but probably not tonight. Okay, just babbling, so I'll get this posted and be off. |
Laura - Thanks for the review of Water for Elephants. I haven't seen the movie or read the book...but I find R. Pattinson kinda easy on the eyes...does that sound gross since I'm old enough to be his mum? Ugh. :faint: Anyway, thanks for the warning about being very sad in certain parts with the animals. I don't deal well with those movies...which is why I've never seen and will never see Marley and Me. Can't wait for Saturday!! :woohoo: BTW, not sure what time we said we'd meet, but I have a class starting that day that gets out at 11, with a quick stop at home to give Mischief her meds, I should be there by around 1:00 or 1:30 (traffic permitting of course). At least I have an I-Pass so I only have to slow down (rather than stop) at tolls.

Morning all,
Awake early again today so I thought that I would get on with life as it is at the moment from an early start. Then I came in here and just know I put in a post yesterday but can't find it anywhere. So maybe it was only in my dreams. So I am sorry but all those witty comment have been knicked by the ethermonster. Yesterday I spent using power tools - circular saw and angle grinder and cut some sleepers to fit below the fence so the roots from next doors golden cane palms and duranta bush will not take over my patch again. DS2 was not happy about me with the saw. I had to make regular updates to assure him my hair was not frizzy or I had not electrocuted myself by cutting through the power cord. Apparently I am not old enough yet to understand the magical powers of electricity and the need for care. But then again, I hear some of my own words coming back at me from the last three decades so maybe he did listen to me occasionally back then. Michelle - good to hear that you are keeping the communication going. I hope this continues for you both. Marriage is indeed a tricky business. I know I found the 'togetherness' very trying for long periods of time. I remember saying 'we are not joined physically at the hip, only in writing on paper'. I needed some independence. Well now I have complete independence. It is not always what it is cracked up to be, but I wouldn't change my life - although one should never say never I guess. Happy - survived day 1. Always a bonus. Hope you only get to do a couple of days a week. It is nice to have income, but not be slave to the job. Ceejay - hope the head is better. Annie - poor lil Sassy. Bet she had a guilty look on her face when you got back to the room. Laura - Hope you decide on exercise classes soon. The yoga-lates sounds a bit like the body balance I used to do. They no longer do it in any of the gyms close to me, guess Les Mills (creator and distributor of the classes licences) got too greedy and charged too much, so they got cancelled. Once this project is over I will look at going back to gym to use up my pass at least. Ellen - sounds expensive. It is expensive but just because I don't have a 'proper' medical insurance doesn't mean the money isn't there. Years ago I set up a term investment called my medical fund because I could not see the point in paying a company all that money per year and not get the use out of it. Now I will be using the interest gained on that money to pay for the tooth. Not exactly a free tooth, but it's the first time in a long time I have had to draw money out of the medical fund. Sure it is a gamble not having insurance but as my accountant agreed, our health system is very good and if I get sick with any disease I just go right in anyway, and if I am sick or in a car accident, I get the same treatment regardless of whether I have insurance or not. Our system is so different to yours. Mel - what day are we at now. Oh yes Wednesday. I will set a date for my Saturday morning and your Friday arvo. The Mid Western chicks will be meeting that weekend as well so we will need to set the world to rights before they go haring off and doing our job for us. Right time to go and get with the day. Dawn has moved from cold gray to pearly opalescence and the sun will be here any minute now. No drawn out - do I have to - oh okay then I will get up - sun here. It's dark, then light, then the sun comes up and the day heats up. Supposed to get to 29 on Friday and we are only in Spring. Going to be a long hot summer I think. |

SHAD....I WISH I COPULD SEND YOU SOME SUN BUT WE DON'T HAVE ANY. ARE YOU INTERESTED IN RAIN??? WE HAVE A SALE ON THAT AT THE MOMENT.  HAD A LAUGH AT THE DS & THE TOOLS. I GET STUFF LIKE THAT ONCE & AWHILE HERE. I ASK HER...WHEN DID YOU BECOME THE MOMMY?!?!? AND YES....SO FAR FRIDAY IS THE BEST BET STILL. |
Good Morning! Good Morning! Dh has been on a Beatles kick, so I have that part stuck in my head. LOL yesterday was nice. My mom woke up late, so we did not do a mall walk, instead I drove up to her house and then we went to walmart. DD3 really cleaned up, got coloring books, a paint set bubbles and a pair of flip flops. All I went in for was razors for DH…LOL
Yesterday was busy as always. Having kids in sports keeps me running after school and I am trying not to be lazy during the day with DD3. DS & DD1 had a cross country meet yesterday. Both did ok considering the humidity…DS is still not pushing himself, I am thinking I may have to start running to mke him push harder. My knees and ankles are not going to like that! Then once I got everyone home I ran back out for curriculum night at DD2’s school. Today I am planning on a Mall Walk with mom, taking the kids for an unofficial practice (coach has a staff meeting) and hitting a craft store looking for supplies for a small project for my friend’s wedding. Looking like we are going to get more rain…will have to run thru the rain drops Ceejay~take care with your headache. ((hugs)) for a quick recovery! Happy~your fahita’s sound so good! I am trying to walk a little everyday , one of these days I will incorporate weights or a resistance band for my arms Annie~ROFL I love when the kids “dress ppl up” I hope C had a good time playing along. I hope Lil man is feeling better…cutting teeth has to be the worst. Michelle~So glad you and DH are both committed and communicating. I just had a discussion over the weekend about people in general need to put in as much or more work into the marriage as they do into the wedding. More hugs and Prayers Laura~the yogalates class sounds neat. Do you take your classes thru the MP park district?? Shad~Please do be careful with the power tools. Wouldn’t want you to have a frizzy fro!! Yes the healthcare systems are really different, I guess if it was just Dh and I it would be better to do what you do, but with all the kids all it takes is one minor accident and my savings would be wiped out! Melody~Hope the rains stop long enough for your TJ trip today! OK, gotta get rolling. This took me way too long esp with having to stop and direct children. Hope everyone has a great Wednesday/Thursday! |
Good morning ladies,
Woke up to a big storm outside - thunderboomers AND hail. Glad I didn't have to go out in it. And this was a 30 percent chance of rain  The storm came along with colder weather. By Friday we are looking at lows in the mid 30's again. Time to get the tarp out. The cucumbers are about done. The green bell peppers are coming into their own finally and the jalapenos are sprouting like mad. My grape tomatoes are doing fine, I get more than I can eat each day. Not so sure about the regular tomatoes. I have lots of green ones but without consistent hot temperatures they are just not tasting as fresh as the smaller grape tomatoes. I know at most the garden will only last until the end of the month, if that long. Debating about planting garlic this fall. I thought the grow your own stuff my cousin gave me was quite flavorful. Anyway, so much for the farm report  Work yesterday wasn't bad. We had a steady stream of customers, slow enough for me to easily keep up with them. I will be working every other day definitely this week and perhaps more days next week as the owners have some travel plans and committments and would like me and the other new girl to handle the store. Boss said she almost called yesterday to say she'd be coming in late just to let me open by myself. On only my second day????? :yikes: But I don't know how to turn on the yogurt machine    Actually I'll be ok, just like she said. Guess I should get there 15 minutes early instead of 5 minutes just in case. Not that anyone's banging down the door in the early morning to get popcorn. Working does get me into more of a routine though. Forces me to make sure certain things get done because I don't have the luxury of saying I'll do it later. Last night DH made dinner - grilled pork chops. I bought some fingerling potatoes at the farmers market - never had those before - he looked up a recipe on the Internet and roasted them. When I walked in the door my sister had called so I was talking to her as he prepared dinner. I wanted to see what it was like to be on the other side of the table, where I just come from work and dinner was ready for me ;) DH was going back and forth checking on the chops and the table wasn't set nor was the cucumbers and fresh tomatoes cut up. I asked him when dinner would be ready and he said "sooner if I get a little help here" (meaning I had to cut up the veggies and set the table). DH is not good at multitasking  I just thought it was amusing that he can only do one thing at a time - guess no career as a caterer for him :lol3: Anyway dinner was delicious. He really can cook nicely. Got an email from my partner in crime back at my old job. Same old garbage going on - reward the inept, punish and hold back the people doing the real work. So glad I am out of there. Today would be good day to catch up on some laundry, finish up the data entry for the museum and make some nice soups. Got a knock off recipe for Famous Dave's Chicken Wildrice soup that I've been meaning to make. DH also found a recipe for a slow roasted beef stew that sounded good even for someone (like me) who's not that fond of beef stew. Unless it comes with some fresh baked bread :T Ellen - God bless you if you decide to take up running - especially if it's to motivate DS. I wouldn't run if someone was chasing me  or if I was on fire :flame: Interesting point you make about people working on their marriage as hard as they did in the wedding planning. Watching Bridezilla is one of my guilty pleasures and I can't believe the extent of the expense these girls spend on trivial things for their wedding. Talk about entitlement. And considering most of these marriages won't last five years makes it all the more ridiculous. But I digress ... hope you enjoy the nice weather while you're outside with the kids. How cool that you got to see a deer up close. Mel - hope the rain dries up for you. Some sunshine is nice too. Especially this time of year. Hope you have a good trip to Trader Joe's. I'm kind of jealous that you get to roam the aisles of all that great pre-cooked stuff. They probably have California Rolls too :( Happy Shopping! Shad - so glad to hear that you didn't zap yourself with the power saw. I have great respect for gas and electricity as you don't often get a second chance to recover from an oops moment. And my cousin has a friend who lopped off 3 fingers when momentarily distracted while operating the circular saw. And yes, I don't intend to become a slave to the job ever again. I told DH the best kind of job is the one you don't need where you can call the shots  Michelle - funny you say that about R Patterson. I feel the same way about Zac Effron  even worse I could potentially be as old as his grandma :yikes: but lets not go there :^: Hope you guys have a nice time on Saturday, wish I could have made it but for sure it's out with the work schedule. I hope things are going better for you and DH. :crossed:  Annie - sounds like you had a nice couple of days outside of poor Lil Man's teeth issues. Good food and good company. Looks like Sassy is a hit. I love you coming up with all kinds of nicknames with Sassy  had a good laugh and several smiles over that one. Also C is a good sport letting Ainsley dress him up. There is a reality show on now Where the Women Went or something like that. Small South Carolina town where the women over 18 were all taken away for a week and the menfolk left on their own to deal with the babies and businesses and such. It's a social experiment. To boot they had to help out with a local tea for the froo froo ladies as well as have their daughters participate in a beauty pagent. It's a cute premise. C dressing up reminded me of the lost dads at the beauty pagent. Thanks for the tip on the socks. I have 2 pairs of cushy shoes which help alot. There are rather fitted so I don't know if I have anything that would be enough for the extra socks but I will check it out - maybe with my standard sneakers. I also figured out like you that letting some hot water in the bottom of the tub while showering feels good on the feet. Laura - yes, the popcorn is not a temptation for me. Yesterday I did have a small bit of the lemon yogurt which was quite good. Tangy like yogurt used to be before they added all the sugar and flavorings in it. I did like that so it's probably fortunate that she'll only be running the machines for another week. The owner is fit and trim and she said after 4 years in this business, she still goes home with a sore back and feet so while it gets better as I get used to it, not sure I'll ever walk out at the end of the day not happy that the day is over with :D If you can do a spin, yogalates and a strength class each week, that seems a good mix of all the right things. Twice a week each would be better but hey, that's what we who are not born rich with alot of time on our hands have to suffer ;) Hope you guys have a nice time together this weekend. I've been on and off the computer for hours now. I need to focus on getting some things done so later chicks  |
Hello Worldlies. Happy Hump Day!
Ellen - Hope you got to do some mall walking today. The yogalaties class I'm thinking of taking is offered by our local HS district community education program. I've never taken a class through them, but it might be a nice change of pace. I'm still on the fence about it. Usually I've taken classes through the Mt. Prospect Park District, and before that, I did Jazzercise. Mel - Love the graphic today - especially that hot pink color! Had to look up the movie you mentioned! Too funny that Richard Burton played an (East) Indian doctor, but then again a lot of the old Westerns had white men in the roles of the (Native American) Indians. :dunno: Have a good trip to Trader Joe's tomorrow - I have to get over there myself sometime soon. Yogalates sounds similar to a PIYO class I took with my fitness passport (Pilates/Yoga combo). Shad - Let DS fuss, you know what you're doing with those power tools! Re getting greedy...it seems like Jazzercise went up in price a lot too. Now there's a joining fee as well as a monthly fee. I'm still on their mailing list and I just received a mailing from my old instructor - $99 for the rest of the year, no joining fee! Now that's a good deal. Too bad it's a bit far to drive with these gas prices, not to mention the travel time. Hellos to the rest of the Wordlies. --- Boring night last night - dinner at Culver's, then to the market and then to Walmart. Bad day to shop at Walmart - the shelves needed restocking badly. Have to remember that. Back to the thought that Friday would be a good night to do the shopping - I should think the shelves would be stocked in preparation for the weekend onslaught. Bf laughed when I told him that it could be our date night, lol. Nothing planned tonight. I need to do some sorting in our home office - my motivation is that I'm looking for something!! Yes, me, who never gets rid of any paper, can't find the particular papers I'm looking for. Sigh. So I could have pitched everything and had the same outcome, but with a much cleaner office. :tantrum: |
Happy, you're the sneaker inner! LOL, the farm report. :D Nice to have dinner (almost) ready when you arrive home. Bf is also not a great multi-tasker as far as meal prep goes. All this yogurt talk has me wanting some nice vanilla frozen yogurt. I remember liking TCBY's vanilla. Another tip that might make being on your feet more comfy is replacing the inserts in your shoes with nicer ones, such as spenco or polysorb (I think those are the brands).
|
Hey chicks -
I honestly don't know what's going to happen with my marriage. I caught him in more lies/secrets today. I'm not even sure if we're going to talk about it tonight. Frankly, I'm too exhausted with all this B.S. And he leaves for CA tomorrow, and who knows what he'll do and with whom while he's there. Love, |
