Good Saturday morning chicks,

I see I beat Mel in this morning. Had to get up early - repair man is coming to look at the oven - they are supposed to show up between 8am and 5pm - will probably come closer to 5pm since I am dressed and ready for him.

Also someone is supposed to come over later today to "complimentary clean" 2 rooms of carpet. DH took a cold (unsolicited) call on the telephone. I am skeptical because nothing is free in life but since he accepted it's his to deal with.

Glad you got the card in time Shad - the mails are working better than I thought they were. Which now reminds me, where did I put the extra postage stamps I bought when I sent your card out??? I'm wondering if I left them at the post office :lol: Don't worry about finding a good card, I have quickly learned that the selection of cards out here leaves much to be desired. One must be satisfied with the intended sentiment only because the quality is sorely lacking. Of course up here I don't see too many of the locals being the card buying type - more like "I was gonna get you a card, but I knew you'd rather have a beer instead so stop by mate..." :rofl:

The past few days we have been entertained by wild turkeys in the yard. We have a couple of hens and one very amorous male who has been rather comical and unsuccessful in chasing down a lady. It's almost as if the girls are mocking the old boy. :lol:

Yesterday they were in the yard again, a Tom and his harem of 2 females. He kept his distance while the girls were eating. Then all of a sudden his head got light blue, his waddle got bright red, he fanned his tail and then puffed up his feathers to twice his size. We thought he was putting on a show for the ladies but a few deer came through the trees so DH determined he was "getting BIG" trying to scare the deer off. Didn't work. Deer went next to the ladies and they all laughed at the big guy in the corner who while puffed up, could not walk much less run them out of the yard. It's quite entertaining. Yesterday we - well I actually - was talking to the ladies through the window telling them not to bend over in the direction of the obviously excited male :lol3:

Anyway I need to go tidy up before the repairman gets here. Have a good weekend folks.

THE SADDEST PART OF ALL THIS IS THAT THIS WAS 2 DEPARTMENTS AIRING DIRTY LAUNDRY IN FROMT OF AT LEAT 20 SENIORS.
I WHO CAN YELL LUDER THAN ALL OF THEM SENT EACH PERSON INTO THEIR OWN ROOM.
WHY THEY ACTUALLY LISTEN TO ME AND NOT TELL ME TO GO F_CLK MYSELF STILL AMAZES ME. BUT LISTEN THEY DID.
TOOK QUITE AWHILE TO SORT IT ALL OUT BUT THERE IS NO REAL HAPPY ENDING.
THEY ARE ALL JUST UNABLE TO WORK TOGETHER WITHOUT A BUFFER.
IT WAS LIKE THAT BEFORE I EVER CAME HERE AND IT STILL REMAINS THT WAY. VERY SAD.
IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL THIS, I RODE THRU SOME WATER ON THE FLOOR THAT NO ONE NOTICED WHILE ACTING LIKE CHILDREN.
NO SURPRISE....WE HAVE ANOTHER LEAK :rofl: IT IS ACTUALLY BECOMING A JOKE BETWEEN ME & THE PLUMBER. I SEE HIM MORE THAN HIS WIFE DOES NOW.
HE'S COMING THIS AFTERNOON. LUCKY ME.
I LEARNED SOMETHING YESTERDAY THOUGH.
I AM MUCH MORE DETACHED FROM THE DRAMA THAN I THOUGHT I WAS.

Good Saturday afternoon/Sunday Morning...

Been busy with laundry and running errands today....I took the easy way out and got dad his favorite from Taco Bell...a chicken taco salad...x 3 as my brother joined me at dad's house. We all had a good chat/laugh/fun. No S.O. or spouses so we were kind of in rare form. Cut to the bone, no bars hold...just the immediate family. Very good visit. 3 hours long.

Then went to Verizon to fix a ringback thing that started when Curtis added the data plan to his phone...no problem...my buddy Monique always does me a wonderful job....could be the vanilla latte's from Starbucks I take her when I need something. Doesn't hurt to suck up...you always get great service....lol

Then off to CVS to meet up with Curtis on his delivery stop. Got a sweet smootch and greeting. Also did a bit of shopping I needed to do.

Next was off to Sam's house. Dropping off some formula, diapers, wipes, and drying clothes that I got her. I can't help but to help out, they are struggling. Her having no income is h*ll on their living. Won't let the babe suffer, they however, may lose weight....lol. Ainsley was there so got to see her too, she was so sweet to her nanna.

Home now...taking a break, doing up some more laundry then heading back out to make some purchases on my behalf. Wally world should take care of that one. Blah.

Happy weekend to all, just in case tomorrow does not allow me to get back here...Hope to get some gardening done. Brother has some wood we can have for our pit fires....Have to go pick that up. Other brother has some nice stone to build that pit. Have to go pick that up too. Both brothers are only about a 10 minute drive.

Annie - the turkeys plight is not unusual. Poor old Tom. He will win out but only when the ladies feel like it. Unlike the white Peacock that I saw up north who had no time for the Peahens, only Ducks on the lake. Good luck with that I say.

Good Sunday morning chicks,

Yesterday was Earth Day and I didn't even plant a tree :o of course there are lots of trees here already. The stove guy came out and it turns out we paid $100 for a service call for nothing. He fluffed out the rope of insulation on the oven door - it has gotten pressed flat while the house was sitting empty for 6 months. Checked the oven temperature - it was accurate. We had bought another oven thermometer and both it and the one that was in there showed 250 degrees when the oven clicked off of pre-heat mode. We thought that was off but the guy said those oven thermometers take a longer time to get the correct reading - which was true because 30 minutes later they read 350 degrees. He said we smelled what we thought was propane (which wasn't) when the oven was on because the oven was not exhausted (vented not tired :rofl: ) - if we run the exhaust fan from the microwave above it will take care of that. So the good news is that nothing is wrong, just a bummer we had to spend $100 to find that out. :rofl: The carpet cleaning people ran very late from their prior job so that didn't happen. I made some baked walleye fish for supper and DH watched Girl With the Dragon Tatoo and I talked to Mom and sister on the phone. And that was about it. I have $30 in gift cards to use so we will have to make the hour trek to the next town to use them up. Looking to get some wall clocks for the loo.

Congrats on the pounds down Mel - that has to be a good feeling. Keep up the good work! Seems to be no end to the problems with the water. It's a shame those people in the office can't work together to get things done. Sounds like our government in Washington DC ! It's a good thing that you can feel more distanced from it - means you won't get fooled again into handling their responsibitities.

Shad - I'm sure you'd rather be in wine country than mine country. Hope you have a week to keep you interestingly busy. Is this a new area you are going to? I see more and more Australian wines on the shelf. Seems to be a booming export business ... then again, perhaps I was just not paying much attention as I tended to drink only one type and brand of wine :dizzy:

Annie - I told DH that Mr. Turkey needs to woo his ladies instead of just running behind them and jamming it in :rofl: I'm sure when the time is right, he gets what he needs :yes: It looks like most of the strutting we see is him looking big and fierce to protect his women from those deer that insist on coming into his yard. It was good of you to drop off a care package for Lil Monkey. I thought Sissy was working with you? Was that just a temporary thing or did she decide to stay home and Mommy for a while? Gotta be rough - those kidlets sure do grab the money out of one's wallet - just like a house - always needing something and always a bit more than what you budget for...

I guess I should go and get ready if I want DH to drive, nothing more frustrating that waiting on someone. Have a good Sunday all.

Hi everyone -

I have missed you all so much. I was really hoping to get back to the site yesterday afternoon...but I really overdid it on the yard work and house work, and I was in so much pain and so very tired...that I just had to lie down. In fact getting into my car this morning was a challenge as my lower back and legs are quite sore. Today after work, I will finish tidying up the guest room for DMIL so that all that's left is vacuuming and washing the bedding.

DH is seeing the pulmonologist today to see if/when he can go back to work...and he's also seeing a cardiologist because some his CT scan showed some calcification in one of his arteries and he wants to get it checked out. He's reached his out of pocket maximum for the year and since he's still off work...he figures now's as good a time as any to get it checked out. Plus, he wants to see if the reduced oxygen since August has caused any heart damage.

He really wants to get back to work, and they want him back as soon as he can, but I'm worried because he still gets winded walking to the mail box or filling the 5 bird feeders in the backyard.

Good Monday morning ladies,

Had to get up early - 6:30 this morning to go run over to the doctor's for a blood test to test my thyroid levels. In and out. Took longer to defrost the car windows than it did to get to the office, draw the blood and get back home :lol: There was a heavy mist over the lake area which was pretty and things sure do warm up quickly once the sun comes out. There was a mallard duck scraping up the last of the seed in the yard this morning and DH pointed out that our bird feeder was knocked out of the tree and completely emptied out. There is only one critter that will do that - it means Mr. Bear is still roaming around. I have a bunch of things to do today but I think I'm going to do laundry, put a chuck roast in the crock pot and spend the better part of the day working on the data entry stuff for the volunteer project I am doing for the museum. The book Michelle recommended about the dog came in to the library but unfortunately the library doesn't open until 10 and I was just down the street at the doctor's office at 8 so I'll have to make another trip out. Busy day ahead.

Michelle - sounds like you are pushing yourself very hard. I know you have alot to do but please make sure you don't wind up flat on your back with problems. The stress of things going on in general also probably has you wound up tighter than a spring and isn't helping much. I guess if you are doing all this it means DMIL is about to breeze back into town. Geez it did not occur to me that DH might have heart problems related to the lack of oxygen but that makes perfect sense. I continue to keep you both in my prayers for good health for both of you...

Shad - it's funny you talk about bringing the rain where ever you go. I remember when you talked of drought - so the rain should be a good thing. Just make sure your feet don't start looking like a ducky. Are you in a new site now? I got a little concerned when I saw Michelle's note - your birthday is not until Wednesday - maybe she's a week ahead of herself! Will the new trainees be throwing you a party? Will probably not be hard to entice them to take you out for a sip or two :lol:

Annie - thank you for the birthday card - can't remember if I already mentioned that. And the post office thanks you for singlehandedly trying to support them lately :D

Mel - I'm sorry that the vacumn snake won the battle in the long run. We have to get you one of those "dust busters on a stick" type vacs. They do a decent enough job and should roll as easily as your chair. Take care of that arm - no finger wagging at the office people. In fact don't even raise an arm to them. Hope you feel better :hug:

I liked the books and the movies (Swedish versions too), but the subject matter is rather disturbing, so I can see how some people might not like them.

Annie - As usual, reading your post made me feel a) tired and b) slothful. :lol: So nice of you to keep Sis and Lil' guy supplied - I honestly don't know how people afford kids these days! Well, back to the grind. Weekend was so-so. Saturday I did some laundry and a BE workout, then bf and I had lunch and ran a couple errands. Dropped by the book sale at the library and bought another of the America's Test Kitchen cookbooks - this one with a jillion recipes from their "Cook's Illustrated" magazine.

In the evening we went to dinner with a dozen people for my friend's bday. One person was a guy I briefly dated in HS, LOL. Hadn't seen him in forever, but he's still the same way he was, Mr. know-it-all, which is why it was brief haha. Otherwise, the food and company was good. Afterwards we went to another place for some post-dinner drinks and that was fun, and we also watched the end of the Hawks playoff game. Much preferred that over a club where you can't hear yourself talk. I'm feeling bad for my friend and her sis because her father is sick and lives out of state and she's having a hard time dealing with being so far away when he's going through this.

Sunday I read the papers and did more laundry. In the afternoon was another visit to the book sale (we got there shortly before closing yesterday and I wanted to look some more). I ended up with 8 paperbacks, including the first Harry Potter. I figured for a quarter I could read a little bit of it and see what the fuss was all about, LOL.

Doggy wouldn't eat his breakfast and later on he vomited more than once, and so he's having some sort of tummy troubles. We're just hoping he didn't eat something that will cause a blockage or other serious problem. In the house we're very careful not to leave around stuff he might eat, but he occasionally will scarf down a kleenex or paper towel we've mistakenly left unattended. Those don't seem to cause problems because they break down pretty easily. It's what's out in the yard that concerns me. There are two houses with kids behind us, so we never know what might come over the fence. We think that's where Coal found a sock(!) one time which he swallowed when I went to take it away from him. Since we caught that right away we were able to give him something to make it come back up. But whatever he might have eaten Saturday evening or Sunday morning, we have no idea what or when and that's what's worrying us. Hope his belly was just irritated from eating grass or something... He was otherwise normal on his walk and behavior yesterday, and I did have to pick up after him, so I'm hopeful it's nothing serious. We fed him about half of his food later in the day and that didn't stay down, so we've been withholding food since then. Bf will give him a very small amount of food around noon today and see how that goes...

Watched the entire third series/season of Doc Martin yesterday late afternoon/evening - they are only 7 or 8 shows long. Going to get the next one from the library this week I hope. I just love the beautiful Cornwall England setting.

Okay, better stop rambling and get back to work. Tonight will be either a gym workout or a BE workout. Might watch some of the Hawks game - it's another do or die game for them. Go Hawks!

Good Afternoon/Evening Chickies....

Monday, Monday.....getting ready for an enrollment for a Transport company. Had to put together 75 packets of information...besides printing all the 5 different spec sheets, quote and application, then stuffing the packets, it only took me about 1.5 hours to get that all done. Tomorrow should be fun! I actually like doing all that.

Curtis is on vacation this week. Today he went fishing. He is actually bringing his catch home, cleaning it then I am going to make baked crusted fish. I am so excited to be eating fresh fish. Tomorrow he is working on his honey do list, Wednesday I will be off as he is taking me for my colonscopy. YIK. It has been 5 years since the last one. I am due. Last time I was clean as a whistle not even one polyp. Thursday he is going fishing again with a different buddy, Friday I am taking the day off and we are going to do somthing, haven't decided on fun or stuff around the house yet. We may take dad up to visit the momma's grave as it will be two years since her passing.....look I said that without crying. Yeah Me!! Saturday we are babysitting lil man as Samantha and Chris are going to a wedding at 5. It is one of Chris's BFs from grade/HS so it will be a bash of a reception. Yes, lil man is spending the night with Nanny...lol. After we pick lil man up on Saturday we are going over to Petersberg KY for my Grand Neice's BD, she will be 3, Jocelyn Ann. We are also celebrating my nephew's (Jocie's daddy) BD. He will be 37. Sunday rest and relaxation????? Probably not. More work around the house.

We got the fire pit dug and part way stoned. We will finish that this week. Curtis and I went over to one brothers house to get the stone and then to my other bro's house to get firewood he did not want/need. It was already chopped and stacked...yahooo...very easy to obtain that way.

Still need to start on the garden but too cold and freezy at night. Have a few more weeks before that HAS to be done...no worries there. Need to get front flower bed and rock bed up to snuff. I did get part of the rockway weeded last week. It looks pretty good. Need to spary yard for weeds yet. It doesn't look all that bad actually.

Still have painting the inside of the house on the list to do yet. Curtis said he wanted to do that himself. Like break a leg, I hate painting. Ceilings will be white and walls will be a light light gray.

Want to get the majority of this stuff done before June 11 when we will be celebrating my dad's 85th birthday at the house with a cookout. I am doing brats, dogs and burgers. Pineapple upside down cake for his BD cake. Then making all dad's favorite side trimmings...baked beans, potato salad, chocolate chip cookies, etc etc...all stuff I can't stand. Good diet day for me.

LAURA....I never had any problems with HB eating too many items she wasn't supposed to and the one or two times she did, it always came out the other end by itself. Lucky I guess. Isn't it funny to see old BFs and wonder what all the fuss is and why we ever dated them. I went through that a couple of summers ago. Good memory...yep...two brother's live close the other one lives in Illinois about 30 minutes from St. Louis...in Shiloh, IL near the AF base.

SHADDIE...sorry you lost your post...probably got flooded out of the computer in soggy Ashton. Keep on your rain gear~stay dry.

HAPPY...you are welcome for the BD card and I hope you have a wonderful day on the 27th I believe. I hear bears can be a real pest and I guess you are living it. Just look all around before you exit your house...kinda of like looking both ways before crossing the street. lol I fixed roast beef in the crockpot over the weekend also...we are getting back on track with our meals..lol...we have having fish tonight which I think you has a couple of days ago....Great minds think alike I guess.

CHELLE...I am still praying for you and DH for better/great health. Poor dears, with all your lung and back troubles. It must be exhausting. Also praying for a great outcome from your meeting with the bosses tomorrow. Stand your ground, be extra kind and sweet about it, don't lose your cool, if that doesn't work be sure to take a loaded squirt gun with motor oil in it and squirt them in the eyes. HUGS!!

MELLIE...saw on the weather channel that you all were getting hit kind of hard with rain/possible snow?? Yikes. Stay in and stay warm, and MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS...stay away from the office. DH called me...the cardiologist gave him a clean bill of health (at least in terms of his heart). No issues with his heart at all. They even made him do a stress test on the treadmill...he did great except that his lungs gave out before his heart. He'll be going to the pulmonologist's office in about an hour or so.

Annie - Sounds like Chris has a nice week planned! And what a fun weekend you two have to look forward to. No fun on Wednesday though...I turn the big 5-0 in September so I guess I have the butt checkup to look forward to...NOT! Still I think I'd rather go through that than my meeting tomorrow! :rofl:

Mel - Housework sucks and can be so dangerous! I still want to have a clone do all my housework and everything else I don't enjoy. LOL Hope the pain eases up soon, my sista. :hug:

I'm back from Missouri. Had a great time but to full of a week end for me. Saturday was the baby shower and Sunday night was a gathering for a 40th wedding anniversary. I've never been to one this extravagant. It was beautiful. Didn't get a chance to go to the condo. Maybe next visit.

The almost 2 year old was the only baby we have so far in this family. My sis and bil kept her on Saturday but evidently she didn't like me being their or she didn't feel good or both. Her little nose was running like a faucet. And she is having day care drama. This was her first week at day care. She wouldn't let Nana or Papa out of her sight and avoided me like a plague.

Morning all,
Exercise done for yesterday. Took a walk around a long block and found some things I might like to go back to for photographic purposes. It was almost on dark when I got back to the apartment last so the walk was fast but I did get at least 30 minutes in. Hope to do more tonight although I forgot a few things yesterday and therefore need to do a bit more shopping tonight.
The rain appears to have stopped - thank heaven, although having said that it will probably come back to haunt me later in the day. The 'ladies' here is out in the weather so one dashes out into the rain and then dashes back again. No room in the little room for an umbrella. Barely enough to turn around.
I've been beating up the guys in the office ensuring they get on with the job asap. When the laughter gets too much, I have to go and intervene. Sometimes I think the lunatics are in charge here in the asylum. Boys apparently will be boys

Michelle - pleased to hear that the medical news for DH is relatively good. Just need to get those lungs back into shape now - I'm sure he is really sick of it.
Are you legs and back sore because you have moved so much you are stiff or is the back pain from the old trouble. Whichever, I hope it sorts itself out soon. Good luck with that meeting.

Mr Bear obviously knows when he is onto a good thing. He is going to hang about until food gets more plentiful. The rain is a good thing in small doses. Heavy rain like we have been having is not good. Yes I am on a new minesite, this one is in New South Wales, a couple of hours north of Sydney. We are in the wine growing region of the Hunter Valley, hence the phrase 'in the mines, not the vines'. Actually we are only a couple of hours north east of Mudgee (Moolarben) as well.

Laura - not much chance of being flooded here, we have a big underground mine to fill before we get wet feet. Hope the doggie is okay. Such a pain when they can't tell you what they have eaten to make them sick. Just read your post about the small feeds. Glad to hear he is on the mend.

Ceejay - the two year olds often get like that. Really sucky to people they know well and then totally ignore anyone else. They get over it. My grand niece gets that way a bit but since we don't see each other too often, then it is a normal thing.

Annie - sounds like you are keeping your normal flat out busy schedule. Have fun with the renos and building. Good to hear that Curtis is going to paint for you. I guess I might have to think about my place again soon. Butter yellow paint shows so many marks and isn't easy to clean.
Hope he catches plenty of fish and you get a good meal out of it.

Suppose I need to get on with my day - what is left of it. I think I will finish around 3.30pm or so since we were here and hitting the keys at 7.00 this morning. Depends on how the guys go with their data.
So I will catch up again tomorrow.

Quick post for me, as I have two meetings to prep for. DH's appointment with the pulmonologist was not as good as he hoped. The pulmonologist still heard too much congestion and "rattling" in his lungs. And while DH's oxygen level was at 94 when he got there, it dropped to 88 when the doc had him walk around a bit. So it's still too unstable to go back to work. The doc put DH on some new medicine (in addition to what he's currently taking), and wants to see him in a month. Now DH is worried about his job even though he is on FMLA. DH told the doc that he really needs to go back to work, but the doc said if he went back now, he would likely end up in the hospital with a relapse. The doc said for DH to give the new meds a couple weeks, and if they help, he can come in and be re-evaluated then.

I've got the meeting with the directors today to try and convince them I am a valuable employee. And hopefully I won't be tired tonight after work so I can spend time covering all my bases.

Quick shout out to Mel...screwdrivers are better for drinking than for fixing things!

No, haven't watched the Doc Martin movie, but I thought I saw something on IMDB about that. I'll have to check out the library's catalog and see if they have it!

Michelle - Sorry to hear that DH's pulmonary appt didn't go as well as you two wished. I hope the new meds help and he's feeling 100% very soon. Good luck in your meeting today - no doubt you can show them what a valuable employee you are!! YGG!

Sunny but another chilly day. Oh well, I'll take it but only because I can't do anything to change it, LOL.

Spoke too soon - doggy isn't quite out of the woods yet with his tummy upset. Generally okay, but he's got to be pretty hungry by now with such limited food. We'll see how today goes. He also has another injection today.

The Hawks are out of the playoffs now as they lost last night. Oh well, it would have dragged on forever, so I guess it'll drag on without them. Watched bits of the game, but mostly watched DWTS since bf went to the movies w/ a friend of his. No exercise, shame on me. :o Tonight for sure!

Another HS friend at the bday party the other night (she was one of the ones that went to Madison in Feb. with us) told me they finally determined that her back problem was not the source of major pain she's been having for over a year now - it's her hip! Jeez, took long enough to figure that out. She's seeing a surgeon today to discuss surgery, which she wants ASAP. I hope she finally gets some relief!

Nothing else going on, better get busy.

Hi ladies,

Quick post for me - I hope you don't mind. I have so much to do. This volunteer data entry is taking way longer than I thought - they were not kidding around when they said it was tedious. Looks like it will take me 40 hours to get it all done. I spent 6 hours yesterday and I only entered 2 months worth of events into 1 calendar and I have May through August to add to 2 different sites! :faint: also not being used to sitting at the computer for such a long stretch, I sure did feel the stiffness as well as a twinge on my ulnar nerve (in the elbow) that runs down the arm.

I made the crockpot shredded Italian beef yesterday - it was delicious but a bit too oily - I will post the recipe with my suggested modifications. I sort of overbought food this weekend and we had some nice steaks to use up so DH suggested steak and eggs for brekkie. I suggested closer noon as a sort of brunch we we did it today. Was really delicious. We cooked the steaks on the grill and cooked scrambled eggs in the cast iron skillet on the grill. Ate out on the deck and the bees left us alone long enough to eat. The flavors were oh so good - it's just that DH did not cook the steaks long enough. He likes rare - I like medium rare to rare. The end piece of my T-bone was perfect but the middle was way too uncooked for me. Automatic portion control ;) I had half a steak left over which is fine - it will pan fry and re-warm perfectly for another meal.

I guess we must have kept the critters at bay while we were eating. We're inside now and here come the turkeys, a rabbit and some squirrels. We also saw a fledling bird that looks injured but I think it's just a brand new baby trying to get it's sea legs. Butterflies are kissing my potted flowers and the black flies and bees are not too bothersome yet.

It's a good day in the northwoods. Talk to you later...

Michelle - I'm glad you're looking at the rescheduling as a positive thing and will use the extra time to continue preparing. I would have wanted it to be over and done with and would have been in agony if it had been postponed!

Mel - Thanks for the info. Sounds like the movie shows how he ended up in Port Wenn as well as his life there, while the series just starts with him getting the job. Honestly I could just watch the show solely for the gorgeous scenery, but it's a bonus that I like the show itself, LOL.

Happy - So the museum's time estimate is looking to be pretty accurate. Well, it'll keep you out of trouble for a bit, LOL. Steak and eggs sounds good. Our habit is if it's looking like we won't use something fresh we stick it in the freezer. Course sometimes the freezer gets a bit full doing that...

Between my internet provider and this site it's getting very slow and frustrating. My post earlier was hanging - not sure it was going to take and I could not get back in for my second, more important post. It's still spotty but here goes.

Anyway, I've been up since 5.00 for Dawn Parade and then got invited to a gunfire breakfast ($8.00 please) at the barracks and came back to do my walk for the day. I came in from my walk last night, showered and changed into pyjamas - very early I might add - and there was a knock at the door. When I opened it, one of the staff from the motel stood there with a candle, cake and card. Picture as shown. Guess I had better beat the Big T around the ears for that embarrassment.

Laura - Yes, I would've liked to have gotten it over and done with...but at the same time, I think the postponement was a gift. At the time the meeting was originally scheduled, I was mostly feeling angry and victimized. But last night, DH and I talked about what I should say in more detail...point out the discrepancies in a professional manner, and ASK for SUGGESTIONS on how I can be a more successful and more valuable employee. Leave them with the opinion that I really want to stay here and they should REALLY want to keep me. :)

Shad - Sounds like a nice ANZAC day (thanks for the explanation of what it is - I was curious when I saw it on the calendar this morning). So thoughtful of T to work with the motel staff to give you a b'day surprise. Have a great day!


This morning, I came up with a great original saying...I think it's original anyway:

"Put all the B.S. you're dealing with into the "garden of life", plant the seeds of goals and dreams, and watch wonderful things grow."

I may work on making it more eloquent...or maybe not. It came into my head because: (1) life is handing me much more crap lately than lemons; and (2) I don't particularly like lemonade. :rofl:

BTW, tonight, I'm meeting with a life and career coach. She's been a dear friend for years, and after I called her last week and gave her a run down of the stuff going on in my professional life, she scheduled a special goal setting workshop tonight using vision boards. Should be a lot of fun! :)
