Happy
Yikes on the cost of med's. Mine is going to be high too starting this month. April starts our deductible again. The med's alone will be a 200 deductible. Dr's office visits still have a co-pay but that deductible is now 3,000 dollars. A trip to the E.R. is a mere 200 dollars. I wonder who won the show down, the deer or turkey. Can't wait to see the picture. ----- I have a sinus headache. The first one a awhile. Think it's due to the low pressure system. We had some much needed rain today but no storms yet. |
All of a sudden we are in deep Autumn. It's dark in the mornings, there's a chill in the air, and the darned cat is continually hungry.
Yesterday, I worked from home and was happily changing attachments to pdf's from word docs when the BigT rang and said could I get this list done by midday. Since each change takes me about 4 minutes and there were 200 on the list, the answer is no - but we will give it a go. So there was some sore fingers after I can tell you. We missed the deadline by 10 documents. After that, I took myself off to do the weekend shopping. We have a 4 day break here for Easter so there will be no shopping tomorrow or Sunday. As usual, people think their throats will be cut if they don't have an overflowing pantry over the weekend. The shopping trolley in front of me at the checkout cost the couple $500 more or less. Mine was for around $70. They must have a big family!!! :faint: Came home, cleaned the kitchen, put the stuff away, had a glass of wine and went back to work for another couple of hours. I've now put away the computer and won't touch it again until Tuesday. Not much else going on around here. DS2 took delivery of a load of cement bags and some gravel so maybe we will see some action around the shed this weekend. Once the sun comes up, I will go outside for a while and dig in the good earth, split up some Madonna lilies and take a look at the vege plot. There's a couple of loads of washing as well. Maybe today will be the day I get into the back room and start to clear it out or maybe tomorrow. Can't rush these things. At any rate I hope you all have a safe and happy Easter. Take care of yourselves and don't get caught with your hand in the cookie or candy jar. :mag::mag: Darn, there is always someone watching isn't there? |
Afternoon all.
Shad - Wow, that's a lot of docs to change! You really came close to meeting the deadline. Well, I think it's nice that the shops actually close for a holiday there. That's almost non-existent here it seems. So what did the cart in front of yours have in it - caviar and champagne? :D Ha, doesn't even take much to ring up a big grocery bill, even when you only fill a couple bag's worth. :crossed: for progress on the shed. :) Have a happy Easter. Ceejay - Hope your headache went away quickly. Happy - OMG, what caused the meds to cost so much this month???!!! Mel - I sure hope the leak issues get resolved. And of course it always seems to happen when some key employee isn't around. Sorry you couldn't get your faves at TJ's - are those the fresh type of entrees supplied locally? Yes, it' a holiday weekend, but not a long one for me - it's not a holiday at my company tomorrow. But hopefully the train will be empty, the office quiet, and maybe an early dismissal. :) Michelle - Wow, that frozen custard seems so rich all on its own - I can't imagine how it is w/ PB!! The chain isn't Culver's is it? That's not really local anymore, is it? They're growing - we have one not too far from home, and now there's one going up even closer to us. I really like that post roast sandwich they have. For fast food, it's a much healthier option than most. How did the pulmonologist app go? I feel so bad that dh is having so much trouble pulling out of this illness. :( Hope the doc can help!! Enjoy your half day off work tomorrow and your Easter. Hellos to Annie, Mary and Patty!! Everyone have a Happy Easter!! :bunny2::bunny::easter::egg::easter2::easter3: So I called in sick from work today. Doggy had a vet appt this morning, a bath this afternoon, and a walk afterwards. All's well except he's getting a bit of arthritis in the hindquarters the past few months. We'll likely start him on some kind of glucosamine injections (reportedly stronger than the glucosamine pills). I think it's covered by our pet insurance. I finally placed an order with the tea/spice shop bf and I visited in Seattle last fall. I ordered three different teas, a pickling spice blend for bf and some orange peel (dehydrated) for myself (to add to tea or perhaps to a marinade). I have a hair appt tonight. One more day of work tomorrow. Hope it goes quietly and quickly. :crossed: That's about all for me. TTFN! :bunny2::bunny::easter::egg::easter2::easter3: |

Good morning all,
Here's a shot of a wild turkey and a baby deer taken a few days ago. The deer is probably wondering who invited this "turkey" over to his yard  The turkey is fairly large - not quite as big as the commercial ones bred for the dinner table and from what I understand it's a bit gamey tasting too. I hope the picture is not too big, taking forever to load up. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e6...eoff040212.jpg |
OH HAPPY, isn't that a wonderful view. Nature is so beautiful...lovin' this picture for sure!
MELLIE...so glad you got all your leaky holes patched...what a PIA. Loved the peeping Tom...I shared it with my co-workers. SHADDIE....Glad you get a few days at home to do what ya wanna do or not wanna do.... LAURA..you didn't really call in sick, me thinks you are just taking a mental health day for you and doggies... CHELLE..How did DHs doc appt go today? CEEG...Hope the head quits throbbing. Not a good way to spend a holiday. We get early release today at 2pm for good Friday. I think I am taking earlier release 1pm. Going to spend the afternoon with lil monkey man. TOmorrow I will be getting Easter baskets together for my kids. Cleaning the house just a bit. Baking some pies. Easter is at my brother's house with all the fam-damily. lolol Happy Happy EASTER everyone! Loves, hugs and prayers. |
Mel - I loved!!!! the picture of the "peep"ing Tom  Shad - (Marshmallow) Peeps are a sugar covered diabetic nightmare confection that shows up this time of year. They have been elevated to cult status and are beloved by many. Now the trend is doing things with Peeps that have nothing to do with eating them - ie smashing and reforming them as picture and toothbrush holders, putting them in a vase with jelly beans for a cute seasonal decoration, or placing them in pictures like Mel's. I don't eat Peeps myself, even for a candy lover like me they are too sweet but I do appreciate people's ingenuity.
DH's trailer finally came in - he ordered it 2 months ago. Now that we have a trailer we can pick up things that won't fit into the truck - like lumber and fencing for the garden, a utility cart for DH to put brush in and haul it out back and maybe a hammock and bookcase for me ! Last Wednesday marked a year since we bought this house. To me it seems like just yesterday, to DH he said he feels like we've been here for years. I got a welcome call from a friend I used to work with who was calling to touch base and remind me of why I should be waking up each morning with a big grin :D and doing the happy dance  :carrot: that I am far away from my old life. I told her that there is a tendency to get settled in and I needed people to remind me once in a while what I was missing ;) As for filling the shopping trolley - so easy to do. I spent a bundle at Walmart the beginning of the week - but it was a combo of groceries and dry goods. Yesterday I ran into town and dropped more at the co-op store - picked up 2 nice beef roasts - one for Sunday (we are not big ham eaters, one meal is enough) and also found a few other things that looked good. Headed over to the pharmacy and picked up a basketful of stuff, then went over to the main grocery store to get some produce and a few fresh items for Sunday Easter dinner. I am afraid to look at the receipts :yikes: But I have enough groceries to easily last me the next 2 weeks except for restocking fruits and veggies that tend to shrivel up and dehydrate quickly in this dry air up here. I never did figure out why the meds were so expensive - other than to think since we rolled to a new calendar year they changed their coverage as they so often do and are gouging us even more. I did stock up on prescriptions before we moved and I looked in my box 'o stuff and was delighted to find that I have enough of the really expensive med to last me the next 6 months (I was given 3 pills per dose and I've only been taking 2). So I should be good to go until we change back to DH's insurance next month. It's rather ironic that I will be paying the equivalent of a pricy mortgage payment just for medical coverage which I will try not to use because things are so expensive. I thought about just banking the premium each month to use in case we needed it but as some of you might know, a trip to the emergency room can wipe out your savings in a heartbeat. And the doctors charge much more for routine care when you don't have insurance so we're kind of stuck. I'm trying not to think of the dentist - I have a broken crown and that's another thousand dollars. There goes my garden  Mel - how nice of the seniors to sit and watch movies with you and ask nothing more of you than your company  That's really unfortunate about losing the prepackaged meals at TJ's. I imagine they were really handy when you are eating for one person AND didn't have all the stuff in them that could upset your tummy. I hope they find a good substitute quickly. Here's to a nice holiday weekend for you  - free of doctors and drama and just spent enjoying the spring things you love so much. Michelle- the ice cream you describe reminds me of Kopp's Custard out by my sister in law. I'm a fan of the plain vanilla which is good because we always seem to miss the really good sounding flavors by a day or two (they make 1 special flavor a day for one day only). Poor DH - I can't see them putting him on a fungal med if he didn't have a fungal infection. I guess the warm, dark, moist environment of the lungs makes it so difficult to kill the infection once and for all. And they tried to give me this one med that was top notch for lung infections but had a side effect of rupturing the tendons in the foot :yikes: I hope he will be ok. Shad - hope you take some time this weekend to enjoy yourself a bit. Do you get any autumn colors or do things just tend to wither out as the days get shorter? Time to plant some cooler crops in the garden? Perhaps you can entice DS to finish the shed as a birthday present to you? Ceejay - wow that's a crazy high deductible for the medical. We're probably spending 1/3 our salaries on medical when it comes down to it. As for the turkey / deer showdown, I think the turkey won. They are not as skittish as other creatures here and tend to stand their ground unless you come walking right up to them and they couldn't give a hoot about other animals. It will be cool to see them in a few weeks trailing with little fuzzy baby turkey chicks. Are you going to your family's place for Easter dinner? Annie - there is one Easter candy indulgence I love which is chocolate coconut "bird" nests. They are a far cry from what they once were and no longer have the jelly bean birds "eggs" but they only come out at Easter and they are my special treat. I figure that's ok - at least I'm not eating 2 pounds of chocolate Easter eggs  I imagine you are cooking up a storm and hosting Sunday dinner? Wait... we forgot to coordinate menus  Patty - hope work is not too hectic and you get today off or at least get off early to have a bit of a longer weekend. Java - hope you are feeling better. I'm off to get busy here. See yahs  |
Nice shot Happy. Yeh, the deer does look like the turkey is an unwanted surprise. :D Now can you tell me how I can insert photos directly into my post (vs. attaching them at the bottom) like you and Mel do? Or is that only for certain special 3fc folks. ;)
Mel - Glad the water issues are resolved, and :crossed: that they stay that way for the weekend at the very least!! Wow, $350 at TJ's!! So they might not have those kind of entrees at all since they didn't sell all that well? Maybe you'll have to cut a deal directly with the vendor, LOL. Yeh, I'm looking forward to getting the order and I hope I've found a new favorite tea!! Nothing much to report. Before my hair appointment I started watching the dvd "Due Date" with Robert Downey Jr., but about a half hour into it, I just stopped it - some of it was raunchy and there wasn't enough to keep me interested in spite of that. I hope "Hot Tub Time Machine" is better. So I went to my hair appointment, and after that we picked up some Chinese food from a place near the house that we haven't been to in ages and had only ordered from once or twice in the past. BF and I were very surprised that the food had very little salt (that we could taste) - almost to the point of being bland! I very much prefer that to too much because you can always add something if you want. We'll see what other menu items we like in the future. Train was much less full than normal today and the office is rather quiet. The admin took a vacation day today. I have a mandatory online compliance training session due today, but nothing else that's pressing. I got here on the earlier train, so I will try to leave on an early one. They've jiggered the train schedule today, so I have to see which one I'll take - they add some earlier but cancel others... There's two more weeks of Pilates classes today ..... ***email just received - office will close early today - 1:00 pm - Whoohoo!! :carrot: ***** Now what was I saying??? Pilates... So I'm actually sort of missing my cardio exercise. I'm very tempted to join the gym that bf belongs to. Yes, I know that hasn't worked for me in the past, especially my plan to piggyback on his visits for free - his non-existent visits... but I don't know - I think that because it's so close to home (less than a mile) it'd be convenient for me to just pop over there for 30 minutes of some kind of cardio, no problem. I think it's the fact that it's only $10 a month that makes me feel like it's low risk - at least financially. If I don't end up going, I'll still be at risk for "the guilties".... so that's my latest thought re exercise. Oh, and I finally ordered a foam roller online. Okay, gonna sign off and look at the train schedule to see when the next train will depart!!! :egg: |
Annie and Happy snuck in on me!
Annie - No I wasn't really sick, shhh, don't tell! But the day wasn't exactly restful with all the appointments. And let's just say that too much togetherness is not always a good thing. Happy - I'm a fan of good marshmallows, but Peeps are not in that category, so I don't bother with them. I have been very good about not using the recent Fannie May coupons I received in the newspaper...note that I haven't tossed them out though!! I like FM's chocolate covered marshmallows. And let's not start on the eggs they sell at this time of year. On the other hand, it's a bit easier to resist the past several years because IMHO the products aren't quite as good as they were before being sold. Okay, I've consulted the schedule - there's a 1:30 train I can catch. :) |
THE EXPRESSION ON THE DEER'S FACE IS PRICELESS!!
HE PROBABLY IS WONDERING?!?!?!?! ROFL MY AZZ OFF!! THANKS FOR THE BELLY LAUGH.....I NEEDED ONE TO KEEP AWAKE. JEN IS COMING DOWN FOR A FEW THEN IT'S NAP TIME. HOPE YOU & DH HAVE A GREAT DAY:sunny: |
Happy
The picture is priceless. That area of your lawn with the pine tree's reminds me of my uncles. Do you happen to have Cobra insurance? Laura I don't blame you for calling in sick today. Do you have personal days? Wish we did. Sounds like doggie has his day. Annie Have fun making the Easter baskets. Mel Hope your week end has quieted down and stays quiet. Glad the seniors came down to keep you company. I agree about the expression on the deer's face. ------- I should be cleaning house but I'm mentally and physically exhausted. I really do not want to go to Paragould tomorrow but will. My niece from CA sent me a picture of a strawberry and said this is the size of our baby. She did go to the doctor and every thing was fine. Decided to go to the doctor this morning as the sinus drainage was giving me a sore throat. First thing the doc asked me do you have a headache. Yes, I do. He told me I was getting an infection. Was pleased with the bp reading of 124/76. I weighed on my scale at home at 195 but with clothes on at the doctor's office, his scales said that I weighed 198. Can't complain. The nurse gave me an injection and he gave me two rx's. Took them and my refill's to the pharmacy and it only cost 63 dollars. I did have to pay full price for the bp med. I was thinking that I'd be paying my 200 deductible up front. Have a great Saturday and Sunday. I will be mia this week end. |
Good Morning Gals..like really good morning...12:21 am Saturday Morning....afternoon/eve Ms. Shad!
Cannot sleep....no particular reason...just not in the mood, besides tried for several hours and decided to get up and do something...3FC is the something for the moment as I cannot be too loud...Curtis is sleeping...and he has a cold..AGAIN. I really think it is due to his allergies. At the band last weekend the pub was extra smokie, I think because of the basketball play offs and the HUGE crowd. He has an allergy to smoke which made him get an allergy cold. He is doing better and on the upside of recovery. He needs to take something for his immune system. He cannot understand why the only thing I ever suffer from is headaches. I take too many vits and mins to catch anything. lol. Truly I take a multi-vit, A, B12 shot, C, D, E, magnisium, calcium, bacopa (for mental health), potassium, iron, biotin, and most importantly, Vit W-wine..lol. Religiously, due to my bariatric surgery, I cannot EVER due without all to keep healthy. Also do a lot of veggies and fruits. Plus a lot of things I shouldn't. It is the things I shouldn't have and the wine that keep me FAT. I am actually up 18 pounds from my lowest weight from surgery...WOW..I need to get a grip and lose the extra poundage as it is REALLY noticable now. YIKES. Today was wonderful...after work I went to sissy's house and fed the babe, rocked him to sleep then put him to bed for his afternoon nap. Sis colored my hair, Chris came home and took over with the babe. Sis and I went to Walmart to get the last of the few things for Easter baskets. I ended up buying her a little dress to where with her leggins for Easter. Don't tell baby boy as I try to be fair about spending. It is so hard to be a fair mom when you live closer to one and not the other. Anyway, got the last of the basket items....got lil man swim trucks with matching hat for his basket the other day so today I got Ainsley a bikini to put in her basket. It is tough trying to be a fair mom and nanny. Lil man was so sweet today. He is actually 25 inches long and about 12 pounds...get this...on April 19, he will be 6 MOS OLD....can you believe it? Time is going WAY too fast. My brother from Illinois is in town, staying at my dad's and coming to Easter. Do you think he has called me to let me know he is in town? Oh H no. He will probably call me at the last minute and say hey I am here and wanna do brekkie or lunch. I am inclined to say no, but always feel bad if I do, so will probably do SOMETHING with him. Just another man with no communication skills. Geez. Got a few errands to run tomorrow. Not bad as Sis and I got most out of the way today. Bank, grocery-to get apples for pie, and maybe meet with brain dead brother from IL. Want to wash sheets and put the bed back together, run the vacuum and mop kitchen floor. The rest of the house is still clean from last weekend's cleaning. Curtis and I do not create much dirt. lol. Considering we are at work the majority of the time. Since Hella B is no longer around, the doggie hair thing is way down. God love her, and yes, I miss her everyday, along with my momma and g-pa. Nuff of that, teary eyed. Guess I am just babbling as I have nothing better or want to do. Sorry to keep you all reading. Really, have a WONDERFUL EASTER WEEKEND. Love, hugs and prayers...... |
to wear with leggins not where with leggins...duh

Good morning girls,
Happy day before Easter. Everyone running around being busy? I have to admit now it never occured to me to consider driving down to my Mom's for Easter dinner. Been 8 years since we moved south and that was a big deal to drive so that was a end to the holiday get togethers. I'm thinking if I posed it to DH he'd say that they are all coming here next month so let's wait for another time. Not doing any big plans so to say - thought about doing a ham but neither of us are big ham fans - one meal is enough so instead I got a standing rib roast we will make on the grill tomorrow :T Most of my TV watching lately has been on the Food Network channel and I noticed yesterday that they added a new channel (just for me :D ) - the cooking channel. One show I like is called The Pioneer Woman - it's about a woman who once lived in Los Angeles, went back home temporarily to Oklahoma, met a cowboy in a bar, married him and now lives on a cattle ranch on the middle of no where. She started a food blog, wrote some cookbooks and got a tv show out of the deal. Some of her stuff looks very interesting. Simple foods - nothing gourmet just looks good. One show featured these good looking cherry almond fruit crisps for dessert. I think I'm going to try those for dinner tomorrow. I did pick up 2 of her cookbooks from the library yesterday - flagged a few recipes I want to try. Got a beef roast to cook up today - will probably portion it out and freeze it since we are having grilled beef tomorrow and DH had a taste for the Italian beef we had sitting in the freezer that we brought back from Chicago. Had that the other night (yum yum) so we're pretty beefed out here. But the roast was a good price and it looked so nice - hard to turn down, but it will freeze well. We finally agreed on a spot for the garden so it's time to get cranking on that. DH said with the nice weather we need to pick up our fencing this upcoming week before they run out of materials. So I guess I'll be spending alot of time outside next week :sunny: Mel - the new trailer has plenty of room for you, Jen, Ritchie and several of the seniors  I think it's way too big and sort of overkill for what we needed but ... it's DH's toy. We can easily get 2 ATVs on it and have room for a gear box of picnic goods and stuff which will be nice for when we decide to go on an ATV trip with the cousins. You can come along, we'll just strap your chair in. I can add some hay bales and we can go for an old fashioned hay ride too. Except hay is itchy! So did you get all prettied up for the Easter party? Don't forget some lipstick - always a finishing touch. Glad you liked the critter picture. Yesterday we had a male and female turkey pecking their way across the yard - which means for sure we will see a family in a while. Annie - when it comes to spending on the kids it's hard to divide things exactly in half or one for one. I think the trick is that you try to treat them as equally as possible - which I'm sure you do and sometimes it means one gets more than the other but then you just have to explain to DS that he just would not be as into the Easter Bonnet that you bought for DD  Glad your family is all together for the holiday. Hope you have a nice dinner - drama free of course. Ceejay - hope you have a good trip to your family and that you are feeling better with the sinus. Those headaches can be especially brutal, particularly if you have an infection. Guess your Easter basket is going to be filled with medication :( Glad your niece is doing better. Laura - I agree with you that Fannie Mae and Fields Frango Mint lines are not the same after they got bought up by other people. Still like the Fannie Mae chocolate eggs tho - I let one melt in my mouth for an indulgence. But I can't get them unless I go to Chicago so no worries there  I did by a bag of Reeses Peanut Butter Easter eggs for DH. He did not like them - they have a chocolate shell which does not taste the same as the regular peanut butter cups. But I'm sure he will eat them anyway ;) Glad you got out a half day from work yesterday. That's always a pleasant surprise. As for the gym - did you check out their class schedule? Will they have classes you can take after work that you'd want to go to? Always a big factor. Seems like a reasonable price tho for a gym. Shad - hope you are getting some relaxing time in this weekend. Sounds like you could use a bit of downtime. At least for one weekend until the next cut over :) Hellos to the rest of the ladies. DH keeps talking to me about various things which keeps interupting me so I'd better just give it up and put the computer away. (And he says I do this to him all the time  ) Happy Easter to All the Fine Ladies of the World. :easter: :bunny: |
Thank Happy...hope you have a wonderful Easter Sunday also.
I am back from the errands of the day...going to throw cutting the grass in there next then do my baking and cleaning and dinner fixing....probably more than I want to do today but must get it all accomplished as tomorrow is a complete wash do to celebrating Easter with the family. Loves hugs and prayers. |
Aaargh, think my mouse is running out of batteries, I seem to be constantly hitting the wrong button and then just lost my post. Mind you the computer doesn't seem completely well this morning either. It lost my constant login to facebook and seems to have lost a couple of favourite sites, but we will prevail
Cleaning up some of the mess in my front garden this morning, I found these. Enjoy these while I go and find my brain http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Orchids005.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Orchids002.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...1/Measles2.jpg |
SHADLET....what beautiful pix...thank you.
I accomplished everything except runnin the vacuum. I am doing that in the morning. I am too pooped to continue on this path and hope to get some sleep tonite. Made lemon merguine (sp) pie, apple pie, and strawberry-pound cake-layer dessert. All requested by others...dad on lemon...Samantha on apple, and Curtis and Jake on strawberry. I am pooped. Been in the kitchen for the last 5 hours working hard....not too mention I made fried chicken, mashed potatos and mixed veggies for dinner. Time for bed.... Love, hugs, and prayers... |

A quick hop in (like a bunny) to wish everyone a Happy Easter! I hope you're all doing well!
It's been a busy weekend just getting stuff done around the house...and yet there's still so much to do! Much love to all, |
Good morning ladies,
Happy Easter to all. Hope you got yourself a nice basket there from Mr. Bunny. It is sunny but rather cool this morning. Reminded me of when I was a kid and I'm not sure how Mom squeezed out a few bucks to get us a new Easter outfit and hat but she did. They were generally light springy types of clothes and occasionally we'd have a chilly Easter morning where we'd be shivering in the new duds. Usually we got a dress and hat - was a rare thing to actually get a pastel colored Easter coat. I'm taking a Meliday today. Grandma was a fierce one for not doing housework on a holy holiday  :nono: The only work allowed is cooking and that won't be much of a deal since I'm not doing the all out holiday thing this year. I cooked some eggs last week, they will just have to do for today  Haven't colored eggs in years. I hope you all have a good dinner with family, friends and loved ones - take the day to enjoy the good things in life. Talk to you tomorrow. |
Happy Easter
Buona Pasqua! Happy Easter everyone. May you have a blessed Easter Sunday with family and friends. Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, Brothers, Nieces, Nephews, Children and grandchildren and/or anyone you hold dear.

Hi to all the Worldlies. Hope everyone had or is still having a wonderful Easter. Bf & I had a tasty ham dinner at his bf's house & will be taking home a ham bone for some soup. Taking a breather In the basement & bf took a phone call from somebody re the car he is selling for a friend. Sounds like he's winding up, so I'll do the same.
Cheers! |

BUT I AM SMARTER...LAID MY CLOTHES OUT LAST NIGHT WHEN THE KIDS LEFT. THE BOSS IS STILL OFF UNTIL TOMORROW:cry: I'LL READ & DO PERSONALS LATER. :moped: HERE IS THE DINNER RICHIE "MADE"...................(via the Spanish bakery) TAPAS: Empanadas (beef) Croquettas (ham) Rellenos de Papa (beef) DINNER: Roast Pork Yucca & Sweet Potatoes Asparagus & Corn DESSERT: TJ's Flourless Chocolate Cake TJ's Shortbread & Jam Cookies :encore: THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT & WE WERE STUFFED!! :hun: GOOD THING HE ONLY BOUGHT ENOUGH FOR THE ONE MEAL. NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO EAT FOR A WEEK NOW. |
Good morning chicks,
I have an early morning doctor's appointment to get ready for. It's just a follow up to last month to check the meds - or lack of them in the case of the blood pressure. Will get back later for personals. Hope everyone had a nice Easter. Double ouch on Jen's foot Mel! Sounds very very painful. |
Happy Monday!
It sounds like everyone had a Happy Easter! Ours was quiet. DH was quite tired as he ran a couple short errands with me on Saturday. I cooked a roast in the crockpot for dinner, and made DH some oatmeal cookies. I didn't get nearly as much done during the weekend as I wanted to...which is how it's been lately. Either I run out of time or my back (lately it's been my back). I need to return to my exercise routine, despite the long hours I've been working leaving me exhausted by the end of the day. I also need to get the house in order...DMIL will be here from early May to early September. On Friday, the pulmonologist was stumped at why DH has gotten congested again. He prescribed antifungals (again) and a new inhaler. He's doing a little better now, but still so darn tired. Annie - I got the box you sent. Thank you so much!! Love the magazines, and the Humana stuff. Sorry to hear that Curtis had a cold. I am surprised that they still allow smoking in bars there...it's not allowed here any more. I got exhausted just READING about all you accomplished over the weekend. Ceejay - Hope you had a nice time with the family in Paragould! Mel - Sorry to hear about Jen's foot! Ouch!! I hope she can stay off it as much as possible. Rest Ice Compression and Elevation. Bummer about the TJ's fresh entrees. I know how much you like them. I love convenience foods too, and TJ's are so much healthier than the processed, frozen stuff I get. Glad the party and especially the movie were enjoyable. :) Your Easter dinner sounds fabulous! Shad - Our grocery stores haven't fully closed for holidays in years! They sometimes have shortened hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but the rest of the year, it's business as usual. $500 for groceries?! :faint: That must be a big family or really expensive food! I loved the gorgeous flower photos! Laura - In answer to your frozen custard question...we do have two Culvers near us...it's getting to be a bigger and bigger chain, but still pretty good food. But the peanut butter cup custard was from a local mom & pop type place. Sorry to hear that Coal is getting arthritis, but at least the glucosamine shots are covered by pet insurance. Happy - Gorgeous photo of the turkey and the baby deer! We're seeing a lot of wild turkeys around where we live. Mostly hens, but a few very impressive Toms strutting their tail feathers! I love seeing critters. :) Please post photos of the baby turkeys when they're trotting past their parents. Can't believe it's already been a year since you bought the house! :) Our local custard place is very similar to Kopp's Custard. Kopp's is by far the best in the area, but the closest locations are at least 1/2 hour away (thank Goodness). Luckily, the custard at our local place is second in quality only to Kopp's. DH was on the medicine that had a potential side effect of rupturing tendons in the foot. Good luck at the doc's this morning. Well, I'd best get to it. I didn't sleep well last night, so I'm having a hard time kicking it into gear. Much love, |
BACK AGAIN.....
PLUMBER WENT TO GET MORE SUPPLIES. SO I HAD TIME TO EAT & PUT WARMER CLOTHES ON. VERY WINDY AND COLD OUTSIDE. MORE LIKE WINTER THAN SPRING.:brr: I WAS A BAD GIRL...I MADE A PHONE CALL TO SOMEONE IN FRONT OF ANOTHER PERSON...SO THEY COULD HEAR MY ANGST AT THINGS NOT BEING DONE RIGHT ETC. THE LISTENER NEVER SAID A WORD BUT PATTED ME ON THE BACK AND GAVE ME THE "NOD". ANOTHER WORDS HE WILL HANDLE IT. REALLY TIRED OF THIS NOW. I AM NOT GETTING SUCKED INTO JOHN'S OLD JOB. I HAD A GOOD WEEKEND AND FEEL LIKE MY OLD SELF. THAT'S THE PROBLEM....PEOPLE SEE THAT AND ARE JUMPING FOR JOY....NOT!!! MY APPETITE HAS RETURNED. THE NAUSEA HAS DISAPPEARED. MY ENERGY LEVEL IS RISING MORE EVERY DAY. I THINK I AM CURED!! NOW TO SEE WHAT THE DR SAYS & WHEN I CAN GET THIS MRI OVER WITH. HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY:sunny: MARY.....HAPPY EASTER TO YOU TOO!! HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT DAY ALSO! HAPPY.....HOW WAS THE MELIDAY?? WE HAD THAT OVER HERE TOO. JUST US AND THE TV. WE WATCHED A PARENT TRAP MARATHON. HALEY MILLS OLD DISNEY MOVIES PART 1 & 2. LOVED IT. YOUR EASTER MEMORIES ARE MUCH THE SAME AS MINE:bunny: MICHELLE....HOPE YOU AND DH HAD A GREAT DAY AND HE IS FEELS OK. ANNIE...BET THE FAMILY HAD A GREAT TIME WITH JAKE'S FIRST EASTER?!?!?! CEEJAY....HOW WAS THE TRIP TO PARAGOULD. HOPE THE MEDS WORKED AND YOU FEEL OK. PATTY....HOPE YOU'RE REMEMBERING TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOURSELF. SHAD.....SORRY WE GOT THE DAYS WRONG. WAS WAITING FOR YOU TO PICK ONE! LOL HOW DID THE DAY & THE CASTLE GO??? MAYBE WE SHOULD SHOOT FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY WEEKEND?? LET ME KNOW WHERE YOU'LL BE. |
MICHELLE....YOU SNUCK IN THERE....HOPE YOUR BACK WILL BE FEELING BETTER AND BE CAREFUL. JEN IS AN OLD PRO AT BOO BOOS!! AREN'T WE ALL?!?!
PAIN MEDS FOR EVERYONE!! THE CANDIDATE THAT SAYS THAT WILL GET MY VOTE IN NOVEMBER:lol3: :lol3: THE DMIL IN MAY!!! GOOD SHOW!! |
Happy belated Easter.
The old saying that goes if Momma isn't happy aint nobody happy was the setting for this past week end. There was a lot of animosity (sp) between my uncle and aunt about their guest from India. She called me last night and told me that she told him to leave before bedtime. She can be extremely rude and she was this past week end.--Not toward me but him. Mel Hope Jen's foot is getting better. And that things are being repaired. More later. I have a giant sized headache. Part of it is from this week end and part of it is allergies. |
Ceejay - Sorry that your Easter weekend was full of animosity. Holidays can be stressful. I hope your headache eases up soon.

Happy Day After Easter...
It was a fabulous Easter at my brother's house. Too much food...I did stay away from all desserts and candy....and ate no ham. Ham is to salty and I am thirsty after eating it. I made up for it with my Phillipino SILs fried rice and her noodle dish, cheesy potatos, spinach dip, buffalo chicken dip. All so good. There were many other things but not my favorites so I didn't eat them. Oh and some cheeseball. Played cards and boards games and cornhole. They had a huge pit fire going on so several roasted peeps over the fire. I watched as I am not a marshmellow-peeps fan. It was a bit breezy and on the cool side so the fire was just perfect. SIL had made some sun tea that was fabulous. The only other dessert that was there was this beautiful butter fly cake, cut into the shape of a butterfly, light blue icing then pastel color M&Ms pressed on for color. Nicely done by my other SIL. CEEG...my word, I certainly hope that headache dissappears. Seems like you have been getting them a lot. I hate head pain suffering, it just makes me so miserable and grumpy...Feel better sister~ CHELLE....Hope DH gets to feeling better real quick. Maybe he needs to be on a maintenance drug until this is all completely out of his system. Are you on any supplements to build immunity? You both should be on them, and if you already are...take two. I am about ready to put Curtis on them. HAPPY....How did your doc check up go? You know, it really sounds like the most part you are enjoying being retired. I am so happy for you and DH. Who knew life could be so fun? MELLIE...bummer you Easter plans got changed around but it sounds like you had an awesome feast anyway. Yikes on Jen's foot, I swear you both need to be in a plastic bubble....if it is you, it is Jen...not to mention Richie getting his act in there too!. Hugs LAURA...glad you had a nice Easter dinner. Hope you didn't eat too much. SHADDIE...are you sleeping and getting ready to head out to your job....Hope your Easter was a good one...do you know the gender of the grandbaby yet? Lil man had a great Easter....only thing he knows is he was passed around a lot. He did take a two hour nap while I held him on the bench swing in the backyard at bro's house. I had him snuggled up in his blankie. Samantha had him dressed really cute. Brown long sleeve onsie with monkee's on it, brown bib cords, and the cutest lil brown shoes. I got him a felt bunny basket and put formula, swim trunks and matching hat, a lil car, sunglasses and a gallon of nursery water. Oh and a plastic carrot baseball bat and lil green ball. That Easter Bunny is something else...lol. Better get to work...been dilly dallying all day long and getting further and further behind. Love, Hugs and Prayers., |
I mentioned this on FB, but thought I'd share it here too. I've been reading what I believe to be one of the best, feel-good books ever. It's called "Following Atticus". It's a true story and so very heartwarming. I strongly encourage everyone to read the adventures of a man and his brave and lovable little dog.
Here's the link from Amazon, so you can get more info about the book: http://www.amazon.com/Following-Atti...3995608&sr=8-1 I was able to check it out from the library...but this may be a book that I buy I'm enjoying it so much. The version I checked out is actually the audiobook, which is great. The author has a great voice and a wonderful New Hampshire/Massachusetts accent that brings back memories of growing up in New England. :) Here's the Facebook page for the book: https://www.facebook.com/FollowingAtticusBook And here's the author's blog about the book (I haven't checked this out as it's blocked at work...but I'm checking it out once I get home): http://tomandatticus.blogspot.com/ |
BTW, Annie - yes....DH and I take A LOT of vitamins and supplements to help our immunity. Vit. D, E, C, multi vitamin, Echinacea, specific stuff for the lungs, B12, Fish Oil, and Gingko Biloba.

Morning all,
Not going to be a long post. My head isn't up to it. I have a head cold and feel like the whole thing is going to explode any moment. So I am reduced to liquids, pills and soup with ice cream, jelly and fruit for my nourishment. Any chewing sets the bells in my head ringing again. I sent a message to the bigT yesterday to say I would work from home again today. Can't share this one with anyone else. I might feel sorry for them!!! but then again maybe not. At least I might loose some weight. Glad to hear that with the exception of Ceejay we have all had a good Easter. I'm pleased to say that apart from a spoonful of chocolate rock ice cream, no chocolate passed my lips. There is some in the fridge. R bought some for DS2 the day before yesterday. He wasn't fazed, but then like me he isn't a huge chocolate fan. He did say that at least it was ginger choc. He's a ginger freak that one. Right, I'm off. Annie asked about the grandchild. I did ask DS1 and his partner not to tell me the gender and so far they haven't, although I might guess that she would drop it into the conversation somewhere if I got around to having a conversation with her. However DS2 who was down there a couple of weeks back does know and unwittingly dropped the ball when he was talking about them arguing over names. But I am not telling you lot, because someone around here needs to get a surprise. Usually anyone asks, I tell them I don't know. So I am off to drink my LemSip which is making me feel better for short periods of time. I will need to go to the pharmacy after this to pick up head ache tablets and tissues and all those things. I can only take 4 of the lemsips in 24 hours dammit. Back probably tomorrow or I'll leave DS2 to issue invites to the funeral if I don't make it. Birthday sounds good Mel. I'll put a note in the calendar. |
Feel better soon Shad. I've had the headaches but they are due to the allergies.

My nephew is featured in this news report on Fox5 news in Atlanta after Thomas Kincaid's death --kincaid inspired atlanta painter---not sure how to link it here.

Afternoon all.
Shad – Hope you’re feeling better soon. Ginger chocolate ice cream – is that a common combination in Aus? Annie – Glad you enjoyed your Easter. I won’t say that I didn’t eat too much, but thankfully, there wasn’t a crazy amount of different foods around to tempt me. I’d say I the desserts were my downfall, but they were mostly smallish portions, nothing large, but it all adds up. I’m sure I made up for what you didn’t have! Ceejay – Sorry your Easter wasn’t the happiest. Another headache!?!? You poor thing. I hope you’re taking some good drugs to deal with the pain and get the allergies under control so you don’t continue to get these headaches!! I'll have to check out the link. Mel – Your weekend sounded good except for Jen’s foot injury (hope it’s feeling better today)!! Your dinner sounded fantastic! Darn it, no leftovers to send my way! :D I wish I’d had time to check cable and see a little bit of “Easter Parade”. I like that one, especially when Judy G. walks down the street making funny faces so she can prove to Fred Astaire that she has the ability to turn heads!! Sorry “they” are trying to make you a stand-in for John!! Good for you that you’re not going to let that happen!!! Michelle – I’m sorry to hear your back is giving you problems. Exercise is so important!! I’m honestly not feeling as fit these days with only taking the Pilates classes. Good for my core, but the rest of my body is not getting worked enough, including my heart and lungs. I’m wondering if my neck and upper back aches and pains are partially resulting from this lack of exercise. I need to get back to cardio and strength training. So nice that DMIL will be back with you before you know it!! I'll have to check out the link re the book. Happy – Hope the doc appt went well. Yeh, it always seemed a bit too chilly to wear those pretty spring clothes. The winter coat worn over them sort of ruins the effect… It occurred to me Sunday morning to spread some mulch over the garden bed we weeded on Saturday, but it didn’t seem right to be doing that on Easter Sunday, so we didn’t. Hope bf got that done today!!! I don’t want to have done all that weeding only to have the weeds pop back up before we got the mulch down. Mary – Did you have a good Easter?? Hi Patty!! --- Nothing much to report. Monday, Monday, glad it’s almost over. Pilates class tonight. Did I mention I’m again thinking of joining the new gym close to home? Yes, I think I did. So I always say I do better taking exercise classes, and this gym doesn’t have them. It’s a Planet Fitness and it’s a “bare bones” kind of gym, nothing fancy, just all the cardio and strength training equipment, plus areas set up for a 30-minute circuit workout, and a 12 minute ab workout. The convenience and affordability are good. But would I really get there regularly, on my own schedule - I'm not known for my self-discipline. The gym doesn’t require a contract/time commitment, but it does have a start-up fee and an annual fee, and factoring that into the $10 monthly fee, it works out to about $17 per month over 12 months. I suppose I can give myself a few months and if I’m just not using it, I can just cancel and do something else. I might need to be talked out of this ladies. TTFN! |
MORNINGCHICKS.
I AM FALLING BEHIND IN MY READING. SORRY ABOUT THAT. THERE IS A LOCAL ELECTION COMING UP AND THE HEAT IS ON. WE ALSO HAVE HOT WATER AGAIN. I HAVE A MEETING OF SORTS WITH 2 PEOPLE TO REPORT THE EXACT PROBLEM. I'LL BE BACK LATER. HAVE A GREAT DAY.:moped: |
Good Morning Chickers....
MELLIE...sooooo glad you all have hot water again...let's hope the fix lasts longer than the last time! Our primaries are next month for presidentual races. Blah on every one of them. Demo and Repub. CHELLE...I don't even know why I asked if you and DH were taking supplements, I should of known you were. WIth all of us trying to get healthy, it is just part of our lives. I will go on Amazon later and check out the book...I love to read. SHADDIE....bah humbug on the cold and feeling badly. You do not get that way very often but boy when you do...you do. Hope you feel much better soon. Hugs my sister! CEEG...how are you feeling today...headache any better. Curtis and I have been fighting allergies a lot the past few months. Seems like every morning I wake up with a head full. LAURA...We have a gym similar to the new one you speak. No fees to join and only 10 bucks a month, no contracts to sign, just a month to month thing. I keep thinking about doing it, but you know me and exercise..blah. I have so many outside projects this year I many not get anything else done but outside work. I have to move my garden area this year as we put the shed where the garden was, so that will be a major project since most of my dirt is 15% rocks. HAPPY...what's shakin' babe? What did the fine doc have to say? Not much else going on here, just work work and more work. Have a Terrific Tuesday all. Loves hugs and prayers. |
