Hi everyone -
Crazy busy here at work...but I am DEFINITELY NOT complaining. I'll try and post tonight or tomorrow morning. Thanks for all your caring and words of support. BTW Happy, I LOVED Dark Shadows and watched it after school when I was a kid. And I LOVE Johnny Depp  I can't wait to see the movie. :D Love you all, |
Afternoon all,
Back at work for the LAST stint, even if it is Saturday and State election day. On a plane tomorrow for home and it can't come soon enough. My work here is done - more or less. There is much I can do, but - they have enought knowledge to be dangerous and they are now about to be left on their own. I fixed up a few new starters today and they are good to go. One has the task of creating the work order for a job tomorrow and once he has sorted that, he will be fine. Michelle - better to be busy than not have enough work to do. Then you drive yourself crazy trying to find something to keep busy with for 8 or 10 hours. Happy - that pizza sounds yummy. Love a good vege pizza. Actually I have a net thingy that fits on my helmet to keep the bugs out on site. Looks completely stupid but when you consider that I have a real aversion to the FLY then it makes sense - sort of. We can look bug happy together. Laura - I seem to remember we had F-Troop here as well. Also that I think it was replayed on Fox8 Classics a while back. Gave me somewhat of a giggle originally if I remember rightly. Ceejay - haven't been into the blogs in months - make that years - never quite got the hang of them. Hope they all get sorted for you. Mel - glad to hear that you got caught up with all those meetings. Sounds a lot like some of the political cr*p we have been putting up with here during the election campaign. Anyway at least that bit will be over for us tonight. Change of State Government more than likely on the cards. And that is about it for today. I should go over and get some lunch, clean out the training room since the finance mob didn't bother to turn anything off or put anything away. Only another 8.5 hours to go -yeehaa. See ya |

:cofdate: GOOD MORNING CHICKS OF THE WORLD. I LOVE MY BIRDIE'S NEST TOO. I FORGOT I HAD SAVED THEM IN PICTURES. THERE IS NOT MUCH NEW HERE BUT I SEEM TO HAVE AN INCREASING ATTITUDE PROBLEM. LITTLE OR NO PATIENCE FOR EMPLOYEE ANTICS. THEY'RE MAKING THE SENIOR'S ANTICS SEEM TAME NOW. SEEMS THEY THINK I CAN "FIX" THINGS FOR THEM SO THEY DON'T GET CAUGHT LOUNGING AROUND?! WTF?:faint: HAS THE WORLD GONE MAD SINCE I LEFT IT ON NEW YEAR'S EVE?? I DON'T GET IT. SO I HAVE BEEN GIVING ANSWERS THEY DON'T LIKE AND MAYBE THEY'LL LEAVE ME OUT OF THIS MESS. SOME OF THE THINGS THE HONCHOS SAID ARE MAKING MORE SENSE TO ME TODAY. NO WONDER THEY ARE SO HAPPY TO SEE ME. HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH MISSING ME OR WISHING ME GOOD HEALTH. HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH PLAYING MRS. MOM AGAIN TO A CREW OF WHINING AZZHOLES. I SAW ONE OF THE MEN YESTERDAY AND WE HAD SOME GOOD LAUGHS ABOUT IT ALL. HE'S THE ONE THAT GAVE ME THE HEADS UP. TOO BAD HE'S NOT IN A POSITION TO FIX ALL THIS...HE IS BUT SOMEONE STRONGER IS STANDING IN HIS WAY....AND THAT MAN IS IMMOVABLE. SAD. BUT HE GAVE ME SOME GOOD ADVICE AND LOTS OF HUGS. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN I REALLY WISH I COULD MOVE TO ANOTHER OF OUR BUILDINGS....EVEN THE NEW ONE WE JUST DUG GROUND FOR. BUT THIS ONE HAS A BETTER SET UP FOR ME AND 2 ELEVATORS. VERY IMPORTANT. AND JENNIFER TOO. I FEEL BETTER ALREADY JUST VENTING:beach: THE IDEA THIS WEEKEND IS TO JUST DO BILLS, TIDY UP & GET WASH SORTED FOR MONDAY. NOTHING STRENUOUS. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND CEEJAY......GLAD THE BOOMERS PASSED YOU BY. OUR BIG STORMS AREN'T GOING TO BE BIG EITHER. NOW THEY'RE CALLING THEM SHOWERS:lol3: HOPE SUZANNE CAN GET THE BLOG GOING RIGHT. WILL KEEP FINGERS CROSSED:crossed: LAURA....WHEN I READ YOUR POST AND HGTV....I WAS THINKING OF THAT CRAFT LADY THAT USED TO BE ON THERE NAMED CAROL. I FORGET THE NAME OF THE SHOW NOW. HOPE YOU, BF & DOGGIE HAVE A NICE WEEKEND.....EVEN WITH THE LAUNDRY & TAXES!!! HAPPY......WHEN I LIVED UPSTATE NY FOR A SHORT WHILE THERE WERE THE SAME KIND OF PEOPLE. BUT EVEN THO THE CITY FOLKS EXPECTED BETTER STUFF....THE TOWN MADE OUT IN MONEY FROM SO CALLED TOURISM. IT WAS ON A SMALL BASIS BUT PUT SOME MUCH NEEDED CASH INTO THE TOWN'S COFFER. JUST PUTTING UP WITH THEIR WAYS IS TOUGH THOUGH. THE PIZZA SOUNDED GOOD AND I ADMIT I DROLLED:drool: HERE WE HAVE VERY THIN CRUST PIZZA AND THEY DON'T HAVE GREAT THICK STUFF EITHER. BUT THEN THERE ARE NO REA; ITALIAN PIZZERIAS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOPE YOU GUYS GET NICE WEATHER FOR YOUR HUNT FOR TRAILS. HAVE A GOOD TIME. PS....I ALMOST DIDN'T POUT THE CATS UP YESTERDAY CAUSE I COULDN'T REMEMBER WHAT BOO LOOKED LIKE:hug:  MICHELLE.....GETTING REST & DOWN TIME CAN ME MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHAT WE ARE WRITING HERE....LOL.....IF SOMETHING EXCITING HAPPENS, WE'LL SEND YOU AN E-MAIL SO YOU DON'T MISS OUT!! SHAD.....I WAS THINKING OF YOU THE OTHER DAY. THEY HAD A PROIGRAM OF HOW THE AREA WITH THAT BIG FIRE LOOKED ONE YEAR LATER. THE BEFORE AND AFTER PICS WERE SCARY. AMAZING HOW THE GROWTH CAME BACK AFTER ALL THAT DAMAGE. I AM GLAD YOU ARE FINISHED....MORE OR LESS....WITH THAT JOB. HOPE THEY ALL LEARNED WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO. IT WILL BE NICE FOR YOU TO BE HOME AGAIN AND GET REAQUAINTED WITH MISS SUNDAY. HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND:hug: |
Good Saturday morning fine ladies of the world,
The warmer weather has woken up the black bears. My cousins T&L that live much further north (as opposed to cousins S&J that live about 20 minutes away) found a bear on their deck trying to get at the bird feeders. They have alot of apple trees in their yard and all critters love apples. I have been reading alot and it seems the people are gun happy here - everybody wants to shoot anything that walks on the ground. Turns out the bears are shy by nature and just very very hungry. They will avoid human contact as much as possible they might paw at the ground which is their way of saying PLEASE get out of here, I don't want to make friends. But the only time they are dangerous is if you quietly come upon them with their cubs and they think the babies are in danger. I think we have them around here hibernating but soon they will go more north where it's less populated (like up at my cousin's house  ) I have avoided it long enough and have to go to the grocery store today. This is probably the worst day to shop but it was raining hard the last few days and I didn't feel like dragging soggy bags all over the place. Was going to go to the casino last night - they have a twice a month dinner special with a pound of king crab legs :hungry: but I had a beastly headache so after thinking about it, I decided to just take some aspirin and stay home. My family is coming up for a visit the end of May. Will be excited to see them. Not sure if my Mom will stay beyond the week they are coming, I have to broach things slowly with her so I'll give her some time to mull it over before I pop the question to her. Mel - I hope you go back and re-read the first paragraph of your post several times each day for the next month. See what they are doing to you? See what they expect you to do? For almost free? See how the people who are getting paid to do things are shirking their responsibilities so you can deal with it? No no no   :nono: I would develop a pat response of something like "hmmm I guess you have a challenge on your hands - I know you are up to figuring out just what is the right thing to fix it". Turn and speed away as fast as your wheels will take you! :moped: It kind of reminds me of when one stays at a job for many many years and you see a lot of the b.s. and people always look to you to fix it because - hey - why should they lift a finger when you will take care of it? Just remember you are a tenant and your job is to respond to the night alarms. I completely understand how you might feel that sometimes it would be better if you moved to another place but you have to consider the amenities of each place and where would be best for you. I guess you just have to learn how to be an ostrich - you know? And I understand what you are saying about money coming in for the tourism to the town but when you think about it, the people who own the businesses (ski trails, restaurants, motels, etc) do indeed get extra money in their pockets from tourists but me the homeowner doesn't get anything if my taxes go up to pay for trail improvements and lighting and such. I think that's what my cousin is complaining about - they don't charge the businesses the cost of improvements which directly benefit them - instead they spread it among the residents. I guess in my old age I have to start paying more attention to what's going on  Shad - oh oh - you don't like black flies? Me either but that will be a problem when you visit. I'm not sure why but we have a large black fly population here. They get in everywhere and outside they are annoying as they buzz your head. I have to put a fan out on the deck to keep them away. They don't bite and you certainly would not want to leave food out in the open but flies and ladybugs do seem to be prolific out this way. I dread my Mom coming out as she will probably tear my house apart chasing them down. We probably have the same kind of netted thing that goes over a hat/helmet. So ... you are winding down on this contract. Taking a break after this for a bit or do you have something else lined up right away? I guess over time people do adjust to the new system in one way or another. Michelle - hope the DH is feeling a bit better. I imagine he starts the steroids right away. It's good that you are busy at work. Your job must be important because it seems that's the ones they decide to repurpose. :dizzy: I hope it all works out for you :crossed: Annie must be getting ready to head back home. Hope she had a good time on vacation. Hellos to Ceejay, Laura, Java and Patty. |
HEY LADIES...I ammmmm baaaaaack!
Wonderful news...Curtis asked me to marry him.....I said yes.....the ring is beautiful, but have not had a successful photograph of it yet...it just does not do it justis....I will keep at it. Maybe give you the Jared's site to access to really see it. We had a marvelous time....the visit with his parents was wonderful...went to a state park...got in free as his dad is a veteran. It had a butterfly garden and many waterfalls it was just lovely...we walked the trails and saw a lot. Was there about 3 hours...it got a little warm so we then left and went to Olive Garden for lunch....when we got back we went for a 3 miles walk through a trail of some sort, into a park then through the lil town of Floral Garden...so stinkin' neat. Got up the next morning and went 2 doors down and pick fresh grapefruit to bring home....too cool....after lunch we left for Ceder Keys. The Bed n Brekky was wonderful...cannot say we saw any ghosts at the haunted BnB...but heard quite a lot or weird things that were unexplainable, even after we laid awake and talked about them...too cool. The food was out of this world...had a soft crab appetizer....a soft whole crap about the size of a dinner plant...breaded and deep fried...ate the entire thing, soft shell and all...yum...we ordered that on two different days. We also had a filet mignon that was unexplainably tender and mouth watering...omg. The secret spice is called "Spike". Going to look that up. We rented a pontoon for an afternoon and went fishing...we caught FIVE stringrays (8-10 lbs), several trout, tons of catfish, and some fish I had no idea what it was....23 catches in all....We took the trout back to the hotel...cleaned it and then the kitchen prepared it for us for our evening meal...YUM...fresh fish. The breakfast at the BnB was fabulous...scrambled eggs, waffles, mushroom quiche, bacon, biscuits...allllllll homemade....I never ate so well and get this...I LOST weight on vacay. We ordered a pizza from the local pizzeria. It was fabulous too! Got up and headed home on Friday...made it as far as Birmingham, Alabama...then the rest of the way home today....what a totally relaxing, enjoyable vacay...I did walk into the house and looked for Hella B....I only cried one evening over her on vacay....Curtis was there to support me. He is marvelous! And now I am home, unpacking, doing laundry and getting organized... I will try to post a pix of the ring, but not having success. Hope everyone is healthy and happy....CHELLE...hope DH is recovering very well and you are staying healthy yourself... Love to all the sistas. |
Congratulations, Annie!!! I'm so very happy for you!! You deserve much love and happiness and I'm thrilled for you that you are finally receiving it!! Sounds like you have the BEST VACATION EVER!!! And now you're back home with your love.
Much love, hugs and best wishes to you my dear sista, |

Morning peeps,
I will have to post later - woke up and started something I need to finish. Congratulations Anne! Very happy for you. I know this is a place you want to be in - much happiness to you and Curtis. And to think - you were the one who never wanted to take vacation  I will try and get back later... |
Happy Sunday/Monday all!
Big congrats Annie!! So happy for you - and you SOOOOO deserve it. :) :) :) Sounds like you had a great vacay too. Shad - Are you happy to be home? What's next for you? Hope it's some R&R. :) Nothing much to report. I filed my federal taxes yesterday. :yay: Better not forget my state filing!! Maybe I'll do that today to just get it all done and over with. Ordered my pillow just now. Hope it works for me like it works for my friend who recommended it. Did about 4 loads of laundry so far, need to get the last one out of the dryer to fold. Might tackle more later, but next is lunch and a dog walk. |
Annie
CONGRATULATIONS, DOING A HAPPY DANCE FOR YOU BOTH. Happy Yikes on the bears. I would not be at all suprised to read that you have had a visitor this spring or summer. Keep an eye on th bbQ grill if you grill. Mel I agree with Happy in that your co-workers are taking advantage of you in doing their job. Laura Sounds like you are having a productive week end. Hello's to Michelle, Patty and Javaturtle. _______________________ I've had a good couple of days. Friday I completely over did it by mowing the back yard and washing the car. Saturday morning I could barely move. Think I stirred up the bone spurs. Still am having some twinges in the lower back. But went to Paragould to eat with the uncles. It's been beautiful this week end. I'm dreading going to work tomorrow simply because it's to pretty to be on the inside. |
Okay, so here I am back home again. It's nice. There's lots to do around the joint that is for sure, but I am formulating a plan to get things done over the winter months. 2 projects will be to renew the insulation in the roof and to cover the patio. Not too big, but will take me a while to plan and organise and do.
Have a recruiter talking to me about a job I really should not refuse, however I think I am going to. It is an 8 day on, 6 day off all inclusive of accommodation, flights and expenses and a bloody good pay rate as well. However, I am not sure I am up to all that travel since the job is in desert South Australia, at least 2 plane rides and 4 hours flight from here. by the time you get home it will on be 4 days off since travel will take up most of the day in airports and waiting lounges. It will be closer to the new grandchild once it is born, but........ I don't really know. Can I carry the pace for one whole year. dunno, can I live with the company, dunno - they are not known for family values, therefore they pay higher wages. There is a stack of dunnos in there. Anyway, now time to get off here and get on with a haircut, shopping list, and a planning board. Back for personals later |
Hello Ladies,
I just got a kick from Joy to get back here. Work has been so busy... training 1/2 days for the last 5 days, then trying to keep up with work. It's not working. I get so stressed then I turn to food. Annie - I am so HAPPY for you. You deserve to be loved... I think Curtis is the lucky one. Shad - when is your grandchild due? Is this the first? That is alot of travel, would you be able to stay over on some weeks instead of traveling back? Ceejay - I can relate. I worked in the back patio in my raised flower pots and my back was still sore this morning. Laura - Hope you didn't have to pay uncle Sam this year. So glad we don't have a State tax. Mel - Midnight call would not be fun, I can't blame you are the policeman for being mad. The weather here has been very warm too. Yesterday up in the 80's and today maybe mid 70's. I'm hoping we get a few more spring days before it gets to hot. Happy - I try to avoid the grocery store on weekends unless I go early like 7 or 8am. After that the procduce is so picked over. What casino is nearby? Michellez - Glad to hear you DH finally got a diagnosis. I hope the meds kick in and he starts getting some relief. You take care too, being a caregiver and be hard. Be sure and take some time for you. |
Ugh Shad - not family friendly typically means we pay you, we own you - not HUMAN friendly. You have good instincts, been in the business a long time. Trust your judgement. Remember that you've had some bad stints in the past - sounds like this one might run for a whole year - that's alot of stress compared to the typical shorter contracts you usually take on. Again, go with your instincts...
Patty - good to hear from you. Sounds like you are crazy busy at work like most of the folks here. Have to find a way to temper the insanity before your health and eating take a nosedive ;) The casinos we have up this way are all run by the Indian tribes. Still can't beat Las Vegas but it's gotten to be too expensive and a big hassle to get over there anymore. Ceejay - sounds like you have weekend warrior syndrome - enjoying that nice weather a bit much and overdoing it on the outside work. Hope you feel better. Pop some aspirin, do some stretches to pull the kinks out. Laura - hope you got the taxes finished. DH is working on ours, I have a feeling he is not taking all the charitable deductions he should because he doesn't want to look for the paperwork. We donated alot of stuff last year when we were getting ready to move. I wish I could have deferred my severance pay until after the 1st of the year for taxes. Did they pull the stumps out when they took the trees out? Annie - sounds like you and Curtis are just fishing maniacs  Nothing tastes as good as fresh out of the water fishees. Back to the grind now :( Michelle - hope you and DH got some rest this weekend. Mel - did you send the cool weather over here? It's back to below freezing at night :( bright sun today but a nip in the air, I tried to get some sun on my arms but wound up having to put a sweater on anyway. I guess the bears are not picky about what they eat - they love apples as do most of the woodland critters but I'm not sure the apple trees have put out fruit yet. An easy favorite is bird feeders - I guess they can open them easily and get at the seed. They will also go into the garbage cans looking for tossed out food. I told DH he needs to put the trash can into the garage. We really don't have alot of trash anymore and it's still cool out so it won't stink up the garage. He had 2 (empty) pizza boxes sitting on the patio that I told him a couple of times he was just asking for trouble leaving them there - if the bears didn't smell them then the big fat raccoons would be trying to get at them. I wonder how they feel about smoothies? Ok, it's below freezing, guess I should close the bedroom window before I crawl into bed. Will try not to wake DH but probably will. I didn't think it was going to be so cold tonight. Brrrr. As you say Mel, winter is back as it should be. G'night all. |
