  • Happy Hump Day ladies!

Our doctor wants DH to get another shot in his back, since they are helping his knee. So DH scheduled the appointment for the same time as my procedure since he has to be there anyway as my driver. He's not having anesthesia like I am, so he'll still be able to drive us both home. It'll mean for a very simple Thanksgiving dinner...but that's okay with us. Our friends called to remind us about the annual Thanksgiving Eve poker party, but due to our procedures, we'll have to miss it. DH and I figured out a plan of attack for this weekend so we can finish the cleaning and the outside "W" prep.

I brought my cane and TENS unit to work today to help with the back pain and getting around.

    ********************
Ceejay - Bummer that R isn't doing very well at work. Sounds like you'll have a great time on Thanksgiving with your relatives! Do you get any extra time off for Thanksgiving or just Thanksgiving Day? The weather does play a bit of a role in my back pain...but not as much of a role as overdoing it. Keeping my fingers that the rain doesn't cause any major flooding problems.

Laura - I need to get most of my shopping done in the next couple weeks as nearly all the gifts have to get shipped to CA. Thankfully, there are a few gifts that don't have to be purchased just before Christmas. Everyone here in Packerland is THRILLED that our team is doing so well! We're all hoping for an undefeated season, of course, but we also realize we have some tough opponents coming up. I'm glad you'll be spending the holidays with your bf's brother and SIL. The first holidays without a loved one are so difficult. Good that your gyne appt went well. Which class did you end up going to? Torture or Feel Good?

Mel - I love granny square bedspreads! The colors of Jen's bedspread sound lovely. If you start back up with the project, don't overdo it.

Annie - Thanks for the box of books and Humana shirts. The shirts don't fit me or DH, but I'll let DMIL try them, and if they don't fit her, then I will offer them to some friends. I'm glad to hear that Tater Tot is getting bigger. Sending love, hugs and prayers that he'll breathe correctly and regularly very soon. This has to be so rough on Sam (and on you). I was a preemie and had to stay in the hospital 6 or 8 weeks before they let me come home. At least with Lil Jake in the hospital, he is being constantly monitored and they can act right away when his breathing goes awry. I know you and Sam want him to come home...but he is getting the best possible care, right? I can only imagine how difficult this is for everyone. I wish there were something I could do other than offer prayers and love.

Shad - I hope work is going well for you. There's no retirement or semi-retirement in my foreseeable future...unless I win the lottery.

On that note, I'd better get back to doing what they pay me for.

    Love and hugs to all,

    HAVE A GREAT DAY.
  • Morning
All this rain has left some other streets flooded as well. We probably got 3 inches and some of it fell extremely hard.

    Mel
I love to shop at walmart. And yes it's not right to not have something for the little ones. I told my aunt last time I was there that the 8 year old is the only one I'm buying for this year. Each of her son's, my cousins, are in a financial bind.

    Michelle
Will be thinking about you and your husband's proceedures.

    Annie
I'm happy that Jake is gaining his weight. will be sending prayers for him to breathe better. Do you think he may be allergic to his milk/formula? The chimichanga's sound good.

Laura, Happy, Tess(easier for me to spell)and Shad have a good day.

    -----
Gotta go to Jonesboro tomorrow to a district meeting and the back again on Friday to a dr appointment. I'm having him check out this hip pain. I tried to get an appointment for tomorrow but he's booked in the morning and will not be there tomorrow afternoon. I may spend the night with bff Friday. She texted last night to tell me the little one is looking for me. I may sign up with WW while I'm in Jonesboro. Also need to contact my sister in MO to see if they are still coming down for Thanksgiving.
  • Morning all.

Mel – Glad you’re feeling better. What a nice project to pick back up – and the colors sound nice. Is that bedspread crocheted? I hope it doesn’t bring on any physical problems and you can enjoy working on it. I totally agree – when I go out to eat, I want to be served, not fetch my own food!

Annie – It must be so hard for you and Sissy and the rest of the family to want little Jake to go home and not be able to because it’s too soon. He just needs more time and then his homecoming will be even more special and cherished. He’s where he needs to be right now to keep him safe and healthy, and I’m praying that a little more time is all he needs to get everything working the way it should. Everyone hang in there!!

Shad – I just read a blurb in the paper summarizing a survey – people are much less confident about their retirements these days, so we’re all in the same boat. Except perhaps the ones that seemingly can afford $34,000 Coco Chanel bags…

Michelle – I forget the exact date when your DMIL is arriving – is it before or after Thanksgiving? Will you have to get help w/ your doggies since both you and dh are getting shots the same day? Too bad you’ll have to miss the annual poker party. As for winter prep – bf turned off the outside water spigots, but opened one again yesterday to hose down the leaf piles – he didn’t want them blowing away again before the vacuum trucks come around today. I brought in some potted plants this morning and will decide if I want to attempt to overwinter them. I think all our outdoor furniture is put away now... The only thing I kind of wanted to do is clean our window well covers. Should have done that before we disconnected the hoses and turned off the spigots. What else do you and dh have to do?

Ceejay – That’s a lot of rain!! Is that the end of it? Hope so because it sounds like you’ll be on the road the next couple days. Safe travels! Sorry your hip is bugging you. I agree about shopping for the little ones. Bf has a cutoff for his nieces and nephews – age 13 I think. I only have two nephews and there’s been no cutoff yet. But then again, I only buy for them at Christmas.

    Hellos to Happy & Amarantha!
    ==
I was a slug yesterday and didn’t exercise at all. Shame on me. Tonight bf and I might go to the movies. We’ll see. I also have to get to the library to pick up the next book club book, which is The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror by Christopher Moore. And if you are wondering what this is about, here are the “user tags” I copied and pasted from my library’s catalog listing for this title:

"humor, christmas, zombies, fantasy, angels, comedy, humour, horror, satire, holidays, pine cove, california, religion, funny, angel, humorous fiction, moore, santa claus, murder, urban fantasy, humorous, adult, american, dark humor, santa, sff, christmas stories, contemporary fantasy, general fiction, supernatural, absurd, christmas fiction, contemporary, contemporary fiction, fantasy fiction, green dragon, insanity, 21st century, comic novel, demons, hilarious, laugh out loud, love, miracles, mystery, parody, relationships, romance, sci-fi, sf, speculative fiction, weihnachten, 123, aa, adventure, amazon, american author, american fiction, archangel, attitude, awesomeness, british humor, christianity, christmas story, colette, comic fantasy, community life, crazy people, crime, dark, dark comedy, death, disappointing, downloads, farce, german, gods, horror stories, humorous fantasy, illegal drugs, ipod, jesus, laugh, liberty, lunatics, magic, marijuana, mayhem, mental illness, modern, modern fiction, mythology, oddball, offbeat, print, religious, science fiction, silly, south korea, stupidest, suspense, teen, terror, undead, us, usa, vampires, wacky, wit, xmas, young adult"

Sounds like it should be an interesting read, huh?

No, Mel, I haven’t gone to bf’s new gym with him yet. Maybe Friday night? That’ll give him some time to recover from yesterday’s lawn mowing/leaf raking session, haha.

Feeling pretty ho-hum this week. On the bright side, the boss will be out of the office the next three days, and so it will be pretty quiet the rest of the workweek.

Nothing much else to report, except that my eating has not been good. When I go to the library I’m going to pick up a diet book of some sort to motivate me. I don’t like following a certain eating plan, but just focusing on the idea of making healthier choices will be a help.

    Cheers!
  • Laura
My eating has not been good either. Makes me depressed big time.
Hopefully the rain is gone till Sunday.

    ----------------------
I've been looking on the internet on the topic of Insulin Resistant. I'm 99.99 percent sure that I have this. It's also known as Metabolic Syndrome. I'm asking the good doctor about it Friday
Texted my sister today and she is definitely coming for Thanksgiving. I'm excited.
After two day's of travel this week end I'm staying put Saturday and Sunday. A body can only do so much. Plus I need to clean house. May get my neighbor to help me this week.
  • Huzzah, Royals! Still a little behind in personal replies such a long standing thread with so many interesting threads woven throughout.

Also, there is this certain brain fog floatin' 'round in the head right now, probably need a nana nap (or two lol).

Lol, sorry for the me-me posties, I did change my weigh-in officially to Wednesday from Sunday. I only have one official weigh-in a week and now and then in between I peek (rhymes). I lost two official pounds for a net of one pound, since I gained a pound on Sunday.

Anyway, happy. Next official day is the day before Thanksgiving.

One pound would be nice, even maintenance would be nice, but two pounds would be fantastic!

Good night, all, lol, I have to lie down. This is pathetic!
  • Afternoon all,

Not much to report today. I went to the dentist yesterday. Had a clean and a telling off!!! Also had a discussion on what to do with this tooth that is dead but not yet buried. It seems that the tooth behind is in not much better shape and we have sort of settled on an implant. The dentist assures me he can do a double tooth on the one implant. Biggest problem is that I have to go for around 3 months while the implant itself imbeds itself into the jawbone. Then they build a tooth that fits into the metal thingy in the jaw. Then they hold out their hands for somewhere between 6K and 7K all up. Oh yeah. Don't miss you coming do they.

Annie - we will just continue to wait for the lil monkey to mature and get bigger with each passing week. Waiting, waiting.........

Michelle - sounds like a boiled egg for you two for thanksgiving. Here's hoping both procedures go well for both of you.

Mel - by all means use my ticket to get here. I will expect you to roll up the drive sometime soon. Sounds like a fun time to be had! Plenty of hair left on the head (and the legs - time for a shave I think). Scotty and the BigT are off next week on a PM convention. They are threatening to send the phone calls to me. I am saying that I will be having a nice time without them.

Ceejay - we don't buy for anyone outside the immediate family any more either. The boys invariably get money or a mortgage payment - whatever they want. They get me something. I'm hinting for a Kindle this year.

Amarantha - well done on the weight loss - both official and un-official. Don't get hung up over the personals, we will still be arounds when you are ready for them. It's not mandatory.

at Happy who obviously is either moving furniture or has no connections or both of the above.

Better go look at the world according to projects. Stupid uPerform is not performing well today. Blah, swear, blurk.
  • Shad
Ouch, I hate to go to the dentist. So far so good. They alsways get me for not flossing.

    Amarantha
I fully understand about the brain fog.

    Laura
the book sounds interesting. Wish I liked to read.

    ------
Will be going to Jonesboro today and tomorrow. And cleaning house in beween times, and grocery shopping.

The washer did an odd thing this morning. Guess it's time to have Sears come out and check it.
  • GOOD MORNING CHICKS
I AM HALF DRESSED FOR SHOPPING AND WILL BE WAKING JEN IUP IN A FEW MINUTES.
NOTHING NEW HERE AGAIN. VERY CALM DAYS THIS WEEK.
BEEN MINDING MY OWN BUSINESS IN MY OWN APT.
I'LL BE MISSING IN THE MORNING TOMORROW. SOME OFFICE STUFF BEFORE THE WEEKEND HAS MY NAME ON IT.
    HAVE A GREAT DAY.

LAURA.......THE BOOK SOUNDS LIKE SOMT=ETHING JEN WOULD LIKE....LOL
GLAD YOUR WEEK WILL BE EASIER WITH THE BOSS OUT.
DIET BOOKS DO MOTIVATE ME. GET ME TO THINKINGABOUT HEALTHIER RECIPES.
HOPE YOU FIND ONE YOU LIKE.

CEEJAY....YOU'VE BEEN A TRAVELING FOOL LATELY! LOL
HAVE A GOOD REST WITH NO DRIVING AND HOPE THE LADY CAN GVE YOU A HAND WITH THE HOUSEWORK. ENJOY YOUR TIME OFF WHEN IT ARRIVES!

AMARANTHA.....DON'T LISTEN TO SHAD....PERSONALS ARE OBLIGATORY....WE'RE THREATENING TO TOSS HER OUT OF THE CLUB IF SHE DOESN'T TOE THE LINE
CONGRATS ON THE WEIGHT LOSS AND THE NEXT ONE TO COME!

SHAD.....OMG!!!! ON THE TOOTH COST!!!! YIKES!!!!
WAIT TILLL I ARRIVE FOR THANKSGIVING WITH MY TRUSTY PLIERS AND PLASTER OF PARIS. I'LL DO IT FOR A MEAL!!!ROFLMAO
I CAN'T BELIEVE THESE PRICES. THEY ARE THE COST OF WHAT CARS USED TO BE!!! DANG. HOPE YOU DO ENJOY THE TIME NEXT WEEK WHEN THE BOYS GO OFF TO PLAY....OR WILL THEY ACTUALLY BE WORKING??? LOL
  • Thanks for the cheerful messages, Worldly folk! Also for understandin' 'bout the brain fog and the personals! Woot!

I am on my day 129, working backward (or forward?) to March 25, 2012, the day all my goals in life will be reached (or whatever).

Working today, a rare occasion lately (long story about semi retiring, unsemi retiring, underemployment and coming to terms with having time in my life not devoted to work, which is good and bad, anyhow, off I go to irritating morning meeting I have to do)!

Did exercise to keep my streakity streak of daily exercise functional! Feel great!
  • So Happy It's Thursday!

I SO can't wait for Friday!! Not that I'll have ANY time for relaxing this weekend, but there's just SO much that needs to get done around the house before DMIL arrives on Monday evening. And I have website work to do, and invoices to send out (so we can get some much needed Christmas spending money).

DH has said that because of my back, he'll wash and wax the floors and help with a lot of the cleaning. More leaves have fallen, which means the lawn is covered and the gutters are full (again!)!

And as if I didn't have enough to do...Kohl's is offering extra discounts for associates and friends and family for this weekend. Since I don't know if I'll be able to shop during the Black Friday sales, I may have to take advantage of the discounts this weekend. With everything else going on, I hope I can get some shopping before I drop!

I'm only working 'till 12:30 tomorrow since I have to take Doppler and Mischief to the vet, but hopefully I'll be home from the vet by 3 or 3:30. And since I'll be working from home tomorrow, I'll be able to do a few loads of laundry.

Seriously, I need to figure out how to clone myself!! But I'm not sure the world could take two of me!

DH talked to DMIL yesterday and gave her a heads up about Thanksgiving. He said that she and he will take care of cooking dinner. It'll be a simple meal, which is fine with all of us.

    *****************

Mel - Have fun shopping but don't overdo it, okay? Right, like I'm one to talk!

Ceejay - I hope the meeting in Jonesboro goes well, and that your doctor is able to figure out the reason for the hip pain. Bummer that you have to go to Jonesboro two days in a row, but nice that you can stay with your bff. I have Metabolic Syndrome and am insulin-resistant...have been for years. But exercise helps me a lot with my blood sugar levels, as does trying to stick to only whole grains (including whole wheat pasta) and limiting starches, eating more fruits and veggies, and trying to always eat protein when I have carbs. Of course, limiting carbs for Thanksgiving isn't easy when I like mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes AND stuffing. I talked to our wellness coach at work, and she said to eat what you enjoy, limit the portions, and savor every bite. I'm so happy for you that your sister is coming for Thanksgiving! How wonderful!

Laura - DMIL gets here on Monday night...and after hearing about our procedures...she said she's going to be here in the nick of time. For winter prep, we still have more leaves to mulch with the riding mower (and the tree in the front yard is still covered in leaves). Once we don't need the riding mower anymore, we put it in the shed and place the patio furniture on top of it. We've already disconnected our hoses and turned off the water to the spigots. And then, there's cleaning and website work. Oh well, we're all busy...I just need to figure out how to manage my time (and back pain) better. The "Stupidest Angel" book sounds good. I'm going to have to put a request in for that one from the Library. Another book on my "to read" list is called "Gabby", and it's about Gabrielle Giffords, written by her husband Mark Kelly. It's a true love story about how they came together and supported each other through their careers (her's in politics, his in the military and then as an astronaut), and then it talks about the tragic shooting, and her recovery/rehabilitation. It sounds very uplifting. Mark Kelly was on "The Daily Show" the other night.

Tess - No worries about personals. We all have brain fog days now and then. And no worries about me-me posts...we all do that occasionally too. Congrats on the weight loss!

Happy - I hope you and DH aren't overdoing it. Remember take it slow and plan out where you want to put things...so much easier than moving them later.

Shad - That dentist visit sounds awful, and the upcoming treatments and bills sound even worse! I hope uPerform is performing better.

Gotta run....another training class to attend.

    Love to all,
  • Morning all.

Shad – Not good news for you on the dental front. Get with the program chicky, and better start saving too - that's a lot of moola for the implant!! Bf has a crown that needs replacing, so that’s in our budget for next year. I’m hoping that remaining diligent with the brushing, flossing, cleanings, etc. will keep me out of trouble. Does the "u" in uPerform stand for under??!!

Mel – LOL re the pliers and plaster of paris, teehee. Maybe having that vision implanted in her brain will make it easier for Shad to put away the $$ needed for the pricey implant. Enjoy your shopping at Walmart today. I think I need to get over there tonight or ASAP. We’ve decided we don’t like the last shampoo we bought and need to buy something else. And from the two pieces of nail clipper bf left on the bathroom counter, that must be a hint that we need a new one.

Ceejay – It’ll be nice to be at home over the weekend after a couple days of being in Jonesboro. Hope the doc can help w/ your hip pain.

Amarantha – Good job on the loss, and keep up the good work for the next weigh-in.

Michelle – Awww, nice that DMIL will be around to help with the TG meal. You sure have a lot going on this weekend! I hope that after your treatment next week you are feeling well enough to enjoy a relaxing long holiday weekend (or maybe just semi-relaxing for you cuz you never really sit still unless you’re watching the Packers play LOL). Yeh, our neighbors have been on their roofs cleaning the gutters multiple times this season, and there’s still leaves to fall! I noticed, of course that a few more trees in our area promptly lost a lot of their leaves after the cold weather we’ve had the last two nights… and after the last leaf vacuuming of the season, of course. I noticed our backyard maple lost a lot of leaves last night (got into the 20’s, brrr). So we’ll be raking and bagging them in the coming days. Giffords and Kelly sound like an interesting couple. I have to say I rarely read nonfiction, but one biography I recall reading many years ago was that of Fred Astaire – I just love those musicals. I just put myself on the hold list for Janet Evanovich’s latest book, Explosive Eighteen. The movie version of the first book will be released in January. Hope it’s not horrible. I viewed the trailer online and thought it looked promising, but then again, I've come to distrust how the previews portray a movie.

Happy – Hope the unpacking is going alright. Take your time!!

Hello to Annie! And some encouragement for grandbaby Jake: :
    ==
Happy Thursday. Brrr, chilly. Time to break out my boiled wool!

Nothing much to report. No exercise last night. I did pick up my book club book at the library. I also came home with a book Margaret Richard (does Body Electric) published in 2008 and a book on bringing down high bp. Didn't check out any "diet books", but the bp book does discuss eating, and has some recipes, so that counts, right??

Tonight I will haul my slothful arse to an exercise class.

    Okay, enough for now. Cheers!
  • morning all,
Thought I might get this done and posted before anyone else got to the office. No such luck. The IT man just came in and scared the living daylights out of me.

Laura - uPerform = under perform - good one. I might use it myself. I use mutter the usual invectives and call it udon'tPerform. Honestly I wish I knew how people can and do make money out of defective programs. They have the cheek to sell them to us and then expect us to work out where it is going wrong. This lot have never learnt from the previous package they put out called InfoPak which has or had much the same errors as this one does. Only this one has bigger errors.
Good for you for budgeting for teeth etc. I presume this is for the gap between your health insurance and what is actually charged.

Amarantha - the only problem with not doing personals is that no one comes back to you with questions or answers. Or they forget to mention you at all. I suffer from CRAFT big time and only see what is right in front of me on many days.

Mel - Working, working, working. Sounds mercenary but at least you get paid for it. But most of the world is mercenary these days anyway.
How did the shopping trip go? Got all the goodies and Christmas pressies all lined up under a tree - and all this with Thanksgiving not even out of the way yet.

Michelle - so nice that DMIL will be there for you at Thanksgiving. One more thing to give thanks for. Hope you have a nice light lunch.

Annies obviously off somewhere doing things with lil monkey or Curtis.

Ceejay - Safe travels too and fro Jonesboro and all your other stuff as well. Wish you luck at the Doctor.

Happy - can't have her internet hooked up yet. Maybe I should send over my roaming 3G modem so she can tell us all about retirement and such. I think she must go to friends or family at the moment since she does post on facebook once in a while.

Anyway - we have had your President down here for a couple of days. We are sending him back all safe and sound. He even had Croc insurance while he was here. No need to worry about the crocs biting him, the rest of us were happy enough to sink our teeth in. Apparently the States are beginning the bid for the 51st State - we are to have up to 2500 Marines stationed in Darwin coming and going and rattling sabres wherever necessary. I must say this was done with out much public knowledge and if the voting public had their way, it probably would never have happened. Haven't yet heard what China has to say about it, but that will come.
Oh and while I think about it, if I say something that you don't understand, then ask your President. He took a two day crash course in 'Strine and peppered his speech with things like - up the booai, and true blue, and dinkum. Now wasn't he being nice to us? Wonder if he fully understood what he was saying - Actually I guess some one must have gone through it and put it in the right context for him. No strange sentences there.

Well....... after that, back to work, more uPerform and another longish day. I'd like to get it sorted today since then I can concentrate on lessons for Yarrabee and my holiday to NZ. Guess which one gets priority?
  • Hello Gurlz....

First...a notation...I can NO LONGER POST FROM WORK...so this will have to be in the evening when I have NO time due to spending it at the hospital with Lil Monkee....I am sorry. Yes, Got a note from IT cc: to boss, that I was abusing the system...right...really??? So from now on I will be posting from him which will be far and few between...and maybe no personals...I apologize...I love ya chicks and appreciate all of your support for family and baby Jake....the lil monkee..

Tonite I am cooking up mac n cheese casserole and sugar cream pie for the pitch in at work tomorrow. Need to get started on that. The little man was at 5 lbs 2.5 oz. growing like a weed and remembering to breathe a bit, but unfortunately not on a regular basis. He is doing better, but not enough to come home.....I would rather have him there where they can assist on a 24/7 basis and not worry than Sissy freaking out at home. Sister Worldlies thank you so much for you thoughts and prayers..I appreciate you all more than you will ever know. It makes my eyes leak to think you all care so much about my family.....thank you so much.

No personals tonite, I am exhausted, got to fix stuff for pitch-in and needless to say I wake up about 2 am every night and cannot go back to sleep....I am sleep deprived and tired...everyday...thank God for Curtis...he is so comforting and understanding...we may live together the rest of our lives rather than getting married...don't want to ruin a good thing...lol.

I loves you all....and cannot thank you enough for all your support....

Have a great night/morning....and keep praying....

    Loves and hugs..
