Supportin' Thread for 14-Day Good Weight Management Behavior Streak

Havin' recently done a 21-Day streak of good weight management behavior (kind of a challenge where you declare a good habit or set of habits for healthy weight/fitness behavior and do it for 21 days), I am now doing the same thing for 14 days.

I am trying to lose 18 pounds, having lost more than 100 in the past and kept it off, 21 (strange number, keeps cropping up) refound me.

This is Day 2 of my 14 days and my target for the challenge is to eat less than 1900 calories daily, with the focus on coming in under that.

In my 21 day and now 14 day streaks I don't start over again if I mess it up. I call it good if I am working at it.

I tried posting this in the chicks up for a challenge section but it really isn't a challenge, just a fun streak thing to do. I do exercise streaks (am on day 122 or so of no day missed) and like doing my little countdowns.

I am on Day 2 and if anyone wants to join me in whatever 14 day streak they'd like to do, I would love the company.

This thread is just for extra support for anyone who might be doing a 14 day streak related to healthy weight and fitness. S'ok if no one wants to play lol! :carrot: :carrot: I'll be back tomorrow!

Day 1 was good at 1705 calories. Checkity check! Woot!

JoJoJo2 07-19-2011 11:08 AM

Amarantha - I'll join you. I've seen your streaks before, over the years, and thought they looked fun. Didn't you use to sail under another flag? Jana the Jungle Lass or something like that?

14 days without bread and butter (including the Monkey Nut variety), without jam and honey, and without muesli. Ha! That will show those wretched carbohydrates. Avast!

Wednesday 20 July will be Day One.

Amarantha2 07-20-2011 11:07 AM

Avast, Silverbirch! Welcome, that be a mighty challenge thou has set before thyself! Huzzah!

Yea, have been on here and all over the weight management and fitness internet universe for years under a lotta names, includin' Jana the Jungle Lass here!

I do have fun with my weight and fitness journey, this streak has been fun so far! Woot!

Annnnd ...

I am on Day 3, with Day 2 havin' been 1890 cals, kind of higher than I wanted but within the parameters!

Woot!

On to DAY 4.

T'is a fine day in the Hinterland 'n Tess be away, avast, indeed!

silverbirch 07-20-2011 05:42 PM

Oh, VG, Am! Within the parameters sounds good.

And so was I! Day One streaked past without a hiccup or a slip. Now in bed and Day Two will start tomorrow.

JoJoJo2 07-20-2011 06:16 PM

Hi, Am & SB -

My self-challenge is to stick to my maintenance plan and focus on eating my gooder carbs. That is, eat my veggies like a good girl, and kick those nasty refined carbs to the curb.

So far it is working.

This maintenance business isn't easy, actually it is harder for me than the original dieting was.

But we just keep smiling. :)

Amarantha2 07-20-2011 09:08 PM

Woot! Congratulations, Silverbirch! :carrot:

Onward!

Yea are doin' great, JoJo!

Amarantha2 07-20-2011 09:12 PM

T'is a wee bit early in the Hinterland but Tess had a sort of up and down day and finished the eating day in the 1600s, although MAY add two sf popsicles to put her still in the 1600s, not planning on eating any more, just want a quiet and restful reading evening.

Thus it be checkity check for me on Day 3!

On to Day 4!

Woot again!

Amarantha2 07-21-2011 09:21 AM

Woot! I am takin' a break from a long walk I started in the neighborhood today and shamelessly cross postin' my feelin's in a few internet diet/fitness places I frequent as I move on with Day 4, was verra negative yesterday and upset about weird things but the 14 day challenge helped me focus on what I really want, which, kind of redundant to say it, is right now just to get my physical self where I want her to be, so she can concentrate on the rest o' the stuff lol.

Here is my manifesto for the day, which is going to be a long one as working tonight!

Kind of a manifesto for Day 4 that I'm a'postin' everywhere before going back out to finish a long walk I am doing today ...

Day 4 STILL lol! "What a difference a day makes, we here in STWNTH (Still the Witch, Not the Hag) Land, we are movin' forward with the fitness 'n health initiative and all other positive initiatives, negativities not even on the map! Water Under the Bridge, don't come callin' at my door, 'cause I got nuthin' fer ye anymore! Walkin' it out this mornin'!" ~ STWNTH

JoJoJo2 07-21-2011 10:06 AM

Hi, Tess - Hope you have a positive day!

Silverbirch - Hope your day goes well, too!

I'm feeling super-positive about my day. I've started off with a tasty breakfast, and plan for the rest of the day to be a super-duper gala event! Woot!!

May all our problems be little, tiny ones!

silverbirch 07-21-2011 05:08 PM

Hello, Jojojo! This is the time of year when veg really come into their own. Make sure you invite them to your gala event!

Tess - hope the Hinterland is looking promising today! And that your walk was glorious.

Day Two is drawing to a close. I stuck to the letter of my challenge - credit - but one or two slightly dubious decisions were made. Overall, I pass. And, of course, live to fight another day. I've thought of you both today and drawn strength from knowing you're on a parallel quest, somewhere westward.

Friday will be Day Three. How time is passing.

Rosinante 07-22-2011 03:33 AM

Please can I join in? (Silverbirch, thanks for the heads up)

In my 14 day streak, starting NOW,

I won't eat between meals
I will walk every day.

silverbirch 07-22-2011 06:19 AM

:welcome3: Rosinante! I don't whether the others are awake yet. Sleep is so good for weightloss.

There was a racing start to the day and I haven't planned my food yet, beyond protein and veg. That's my next task.

Amarantha2 07-22-2011 07:09 AM

Rosinate, welcome!!! A noble quest indeed, great challenge thou hast laid out before thee.

Congratulations, Silverbirch, and JoJoJo2 for thy noble work and success on this challenge!

Yea, I am up though, going back to bed. Had a successful day 4 and am on day 5 and intend it shall be a good one. Doing a weigh-in today.

See ye, I just got up to do something for work, need to sleep.

Yea, Silverbirch, sleep IS good for weight loss, methinks. I need to do better on that. Woot!

JoJoJo2 07-22-2011 08:28 AM

I'm up, too, although I am probably the last one up since I live in the Mountain Time Zone and I am retired! :) However, here I am, ready to take on a new day.

Welcome Rosinate!! I'm so glad you joined us, and I wish you well on your streak.

Silverbirch - Seeing you posting reminds me of a time many years ago when my DH and I toured Wales. We were with a tour group and we traveled through England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, seeing all the sights. It was a wonderful experience. I waved at you, I remember that well.

Tess - May your weigh-in be one that puts a smile on your face. Remember, smiling is great exercise.

It continues to be hot, hot, hot here in the mountains where I live, but it is the right time of year for HOT! Let's make today the best of all possible days, and keep smiling. :)

Amarantha2 07-22-2011 12:28 PM

JoJoJo2! Woot! I think I am in Mountain, too, but we don't have DST, so the time is different and I never know lol.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Tess/Am wimped on the Friday weigh-ins. Got home from the meeting after midnight last night, which is when my new eating day always starts for logging purposes but usually don't eat that late. It was, however, a stressful session and did have to eat a small meal, so this morning, after sleeping since the last post, Tess/Am decided to move her weigh-ins back to her traditional Sunday and will accordingly hold the Sacred Ceremony o' the Golden Scale on that day again.

She doth not want to discourage self by a fluctuation and she is almost sure if she did it today, there would be a gain as she ate and is also feeling somewhat waterlogged from exercise.

So, that be the dealeth here in Tessland right now.

Woot~!

silverbirch 07-22-2011 04:52 PM

A good Day Three. I saw the physio who says I'm getting stronger. Good! I've eaten according to plan. Good! I am reasonably rested. Good! And I've sawn up a load of wood for the winter which always makes me feel Good!

Rosinante - hope the weather co-operated when you went for your walk. Walking is so rejuvenating.

Jojojo2 - now is my chance to wave back. I'm pleased to bring back happy memories. A happy day to add to your streak, I trust. The Mountain Time Zone sounds so romantic.

Tess - yes, so good to rest. And necessary if you got back late. Does Am/Tess only weigh herself once a week? I know some people do. I Just Do It and put the Data into the Information Machine which is Feeling-Neutral.

Day Four tomorrow - I like the way this is going.

Amarantha2 07-22-2011 05:06 PM

Tess/Am to Silverbirch: Woot! Good work on the Day 3!

In the various guises in which my fantastical weight loss and/or fitness initiatives have presented themselves over the years in my wee brain, mostly to amuse myself but for the very serious reason of having lost the weight (more than 100) and kept it off for a long time except for this wee blip o' stubborness (but that be another tale) in regain, I have mostly conducted the sacred weigh-in only once a week officially and log it and blog it here and there, but I do hop on at various other times and I also change the weigh-in day of the week sometimes to fit my schedule.

My career recently took a different direction so I do different things on different days now. Oddly, what jobs I do on a set of schedules has an impact on how my weight fluctuates, so I try to maximize my happy scale days to times when I have learned the weight will be less than it is on other days (e.g., if I've worked a festival in the heat or conversely worked a late meeting and needed to eat at night, that affects my weight).

When trying to lose as I am now (verra hard btw!) versus maintain, I want to be careful not to sabotage my mood by sliding back up officially.

Lol, hope that makes sense. It probably only does to moi.

Wow, I am having a nice rest day and just about to go read on the sofa again.

Woot!

Rosinante 07-22-2011 06:31 PM

Day 1 closing successfully.
Got 3 count them 3 short walks in.
Didn't eat between meals. Apart from Migraleve but my head's still exploding.
Good luck, all.

Amarantha2 07-22-2011 11:48 PM

Woot, Rosinate, congrats on the successful Day 1.

EDITED TO CHANGE THE DAY AS I AM ON DAY 6, NOT 5! :)

Tess/Am just slipped back in to say she has had a lovely day 6 and is finished eatin' at 1720 and callin' it good, day is checkity check.

On to Day 7!

Rosinante 07-23-2011 03:09 AM

Day 2 dawns. I am mentally girt.

silverbirch 07-23-2011 05:06 AM

Loins girded here. (And face washed.)

silverbirch 07-23-2011 09:10 AM

I am at work with a very long report. I would like it just to be the two of us but it isn't. The person in the office next door (yes, it's Saturday) has the radio on. The next-but-one field has a rock festival going on. Full-scale. Drum and bass. Etc.

I have just raided a Crunchie bar from my colleague's drawer. I don't even like Crunchies. So Day 4 is not going to be the glorious unbesmirched day I'd hoped for.

Shame. But that will be that in that department.

JoJoJo2 07-23-2011 09:51 AM

I'm up and facing the new day with a smile on my face and a song in my heart, more or less. Yesterday I got the "munchies" and did a little damage to myself. But that was yesterday, and this is today.

Onward with a renewed focus on what I must do to maintain. This is Day 5 for me.

Silverbirch - Unfortunately things do happen in life. Stay strong -

Rosinante - Hope your day is going well for you.

Am/Tess - Any plan of action invariably needs to be "tweaked" so tweak away.

Me - I plan to forge ahead with my shoulder to the wheel, my nose to the grindstone, etc. You know the drill. Anyway, I will do the very bestest I can. Woot!

silverbirch 07-23-2011 05:15 PM

Never a truer word was spake! Thank you. I did stay strong anf fought off a bowl of muesli so I'm going to bed with that slightly hungry feeling that bodes well for the morn. I claim a success. So onward to Day Five. Not streakety streak as Tess/Am sometimes goes but more like squeakety squeak under the wire. Boff to Crunchies. Never again.

Hope all is well on your paths to freedom.

Amarantha2 07-23-2011 06:10 PM

Huzzah, JoJoJo2, Rosinate and Silverbirch! Woot, Tess/Am am not sure what a Crunchie is exactly but t'was good to stop at one, methinks.

Havin' a work Saturday (and Sunday) also but I do mine at 50 percent at home, chugged away at it for awhile this morning after an abbrevated streakity streak entry.

Had a nice lunch by self at Subway where the steak, egg white and cheese muffin sandwich is quite good and low cal. Eating sugar free and cals good.

Bagged work, going to read. That is my Day 6 so far.

Rosinate, mentally girt seems a good state to be in! Woot!

JJJ2, yea life be good.

Onward to the next round!

Please send any nice scale angels ye know 'round here on Sunday morn', all I want is a pound down (or even a maintain lol).

We'll see.

Silverbirch, I love thy avatar.

Rosinante 07-23-2011 07:54 PM

Day 2 has ended well. I could wish it had ended a might earlier but I'm waiting for a washing machine cycle to finish, Dog #3 having elected to pee on his dog duvet earlier this evening. (Dog #3 now one of only two left but I still give them their pack numbers in my heart. Got #3 and #5 still to hug).

Got a goodish walk in.
Didn't eat between meals.

Went a bit mad with lunch, probably, no, definitely ate too much "to make up for not eating between meal" but I felt so yukky afterwards that I won't do that again. See, I'm learning.

Keep fighting!

Amarantha2 07-23-2011 10:13 PM

Avast, Rosinante, good work on day 2!

Thy doggies sound well loved, mine be too (and the cat).

Woot! Here we go, another day ahead in the Magickal Land o' 14 Day Challenges, where WE RULE!!!

Amarantha2 07-24-2011 11:14 AM

EDITED AS THE DAY WAS WRONG AGAIN! Day 7!!! During the Ceremony o' the Golden Scale there was a discovery that the ONE TRUE SCALE had been stolen and replaced by a FALSE LYING SCALE that said Tess/Am gained two pounds!

"How can that be," she decried to the universe!

She is makin' an investigation and expects to have the case wrapped up and the ONE TRUE SCALE back by next Sunday.

In the meantime, the 14 day challenge is more important than ever as it seems to be preventin' binges, so she marshalled her forces and soldiers ever onward.

Film at 11

JoJoJo2 07-24-2011 01:02 PM

This is Day 6 for me and I'm off to a good start with church and Bible class. We will be going out to lunch as we usually do on Sundays, but I plan to be careful.

Rosinante - That 'eating too much' hits every one of us every so often, but we learn from our mistakes. Getting a goodish walk in and not eating between meals is certainly a plus.

Am/Tess - This 14 day challenge is helping us keep ourselves FOCUSED on what we need to day. Hopefully your investigation into the disappearance of the true scale will be a fruitful one, and the cause(s) of your problem will be determined.

May we all continue to do the very best we can. And may we, no matter what problems arise in our lives, manage to keep smiling. :)

Amarantha2 07-24-2011 03:05 PM

Ye said it on the focus and smilin', Ms. JJJ2!

Woot, half the battle, right there!

silverbirch 07-24-2011 05:18 PM

Rosinante - hugs to the dogs. Hope you got in a walk and no nibbles.

Tess/Am - v sorry to hear you have a Changeling Scale. I seem to remember you must not give in to changelings' demands or you will be in their thrall forever. Does your milk keep turning and your butter won't churn?

Jojojo2 - focus is the name of the game!

Day Five is almost over. I spent it mostly with my report (and some very droney ballad singers at the music festival two fields away). My tea was ready when I crawled home. And I asked the SO to make the DB's supper so I wasn't tempted. That was a stroke of genius on my part. I'll just run him through the principle in a moment and that whole area should become trouble-free. Hurray for a kind and rational human being!

Day Six tomorrow. This streakin' is a great idea, dear Tess/Am. PS Glad you like my av.

Amarantha2 07-25-2011 09:25 AM

Silverbirch lol yea the milk did turn and the butter did not churn. Exactly so.

To be honest am going to weigh today and if it be down, that will be my weight for the week, if it be up, forget it.

Congrats on thy Day 5 and hope ye got your report done.

Now if only mine were done and I will have to be at the grindstone all day to make it so (but still have tomorrow if the former doth not work out).

Rosinate, JJJ2

Tess/Am sloggin' on at Day 8!

Over 'n out.

Did walk 90 min this morn' ...

JoJoJo2 07-25-2011 10:30 AM

It's day 7 for me here in Wonderful Wyoming.

Silverbirch - A SO like that is indeed one to cherish.

Tess/Am - So your nose is at the grindstone today, that's life my dear. Work awaits us all.

I survived the weekend very nicely, thank you. Sometimes those weekends are difficult for me. My little family returned safely from their vacation, which does ease my mind a bit. Not that I was worrying, but you know how it is. :)

Anyway, let's make today the best day it can be. Onward!!!

silverbirch 07-25-2011 05:16 PM

End of Day Six and it was within the parameters. A little suspect outside but nothing ridiculous. I'm aiming here to get daily behaviour on the straight and narrow. One-off events will take their place later.

Rosinante - hope things are going OK in your world. Beaming good vibes.

Jojojo2 - glad they're back, safe and sound. I do know how it is. :)

Tess/Am - 90 minutes is good. Outside? In a Very Hot Place? Hope all was reconciled in the scales dept.

Day Seven tomorrow.

Rosinante 07-25-2011 05:30 PM

Day 4 drawing successfully to a close. Still eating a bit too much at some meals but less than on previous days. Once I've done 14 days of walking and no eating between meals, I'll add in portion control. I like this.
Hope everyone's ok.

Amarantha2 07-25-2011 05:48 PM

Yea, JJJ2, still at it but wearin' it down (work), halfway through Day 8 and eating is ok, no stress binges. Congrats on Day 7 and gettin' thru weekend~

Silverbirch, yea outdoors fer the walk. The scale did also go down a bit but not enough to bother callin' it a loss. Think I will monitor more than usual this week though. If a weight comes along I like, I'll call it the official one lol. Congrats on the day 6 and yea that is my aim also in this challenge, to get at a daily behavior that works for me.

Rosinate! Woot on the day 4! Huzzah! I am going to do another 14 also and add something in, not sure what. Something that will help me succeed.

Had a strange mornin' here as I tried to concentrate on getting this project done one day before due. My kitty (Demon, for short) brought a live little bird into my office here in the house where I do half my work. She did not attack it, just wanted to play, carried it in her mouth and put it down. It took me all morning to coax the bird out from under the couch and I needed to work so I just ignored it and I left the office door open and some of my outside doors (no screens) and instructed the dog and cat to leave the bird alone. It hopped out finally and hopped down the hall to the door and is gone as far as I can tell.

Then a gent in my neighborhood was taken away in an ambulance and since I have been his neighbor for 16 years or so, I was concerned, although I know what is wrong with him. We are not close or friends, just that he is my neighbor. He was sitting up though, hope for the best.

Off I go now, back to the grindstone (on the same computer). Two more hours should do it.

I am not binge eating on Mondays as I did in the previous job and though I really am not all that crazy about this gig, it is an improvement not to binge.
