Springy Canadian Spring!

It is FINALLY spring! How is everyone? If it's not looking like spring in your area and you need a fix go here.....

http://www.procreo.jp/labo/flower_garden.swf

You will get a black page.. Click your mouse anywhere (& everywhere) on the page & see what happens! Better yet, click (hold down) & drag your mouse over the black page...

Enjoy!!

josey 03-29-2011 12:14 PM

Yay! Spring... I wish there was spring here. But one can hope.

Thanks for the link Aunty J! A nice peak on what might come... in 2 or 3 months... sigh ;-)

greeneggsandtam 03-29-2011 03:18 PM

New thread! Thanks Aunty Jam!
I am sitting in my 'command centre' as my DH calls it trying to finish a paper for tomorrow. I can't wait for the class I am taking to end so I can be in the city more consistently to work out. I have been keeping myself at home to get all my schoolwork out of the way.
Anyways my goals for today are to keep my nose out of snacking on everything I can get my hands on and drink at least two litres of water. I know. It's a small goal, but there you go.
Summer soccer starts again in about a month and a half, so I am looking forward to that again. Yikes. I feel as though I am losing steam here to keep on with the goal of losing weight. Perhaps I will need to re-evaluate my goals again. I will do that and report tomorrow. New plans.
Everyone enjoy your day!!
Tam

Aunty Jam 03-29-2011 05:29 PM

I think I just agreed to run (or at least train for) a half marathon. I really need to install a filter between my brain and my mouth.

josey 03-29-2011 09:31 PM

Oh boy, the sun is out! Wooohooo! Maybe spring is coming after all?

greeneggsandtam 03-30-2011 01:04 PM

Aunty Jam - Hahaha. I lack that filter also. I have agreed to things I can't even mention on a site like this. lol. But never to a half-marathon.
Josey - Let's hope. I think you may be right, my dogs uncovered a dead mouse in a snowbank this morning, so I'm going to assume they are starting to recede (the snowbanks, that is). woot!

Okay... after some thinking about my goals I have come up with this:
I would very much like to get back into my lovely size 12's!! I told my husband last night that I would be on an active weight loss journey once again. He claims to have no knowledge of the extra twenty pounds I've gained since we got married. I have no idea what to do with the clear denial, but he still thinks I'm hot so- I'll let it pass...this time. I am also going to pick out a gorgeous dress to wear to two weddings this summer!! So there are my goals. Size twelve pants and a gorgeous dress. Oh! and also to play soccer again, but that's a given. Now to think of a plan.

josey 03-30-2011 01:17 PM

How about a Canadian challenge? Any ideas? Canada Day? Or beginning of June (spring starts for real - haha)?

josey 03-30-2011 03:53 PM

Oh wait, how about Victoria Day? That is a nice long weekend to aim for...

greeneggsandtam 03-31-2011 11:08 AM

Josey!! All right! I'm in! When is Victoria day- May? Yes of course. What am I thinking? lol. Do I have to weigh in weekly? I don't have a scale. I am afraid of them. But I can go by my scale of pants that don't fit. Seriously. I have a whole array of pants that go from 'fat pants' to the 'yes. i do have self-esteem pants' to the 'oooohlala hotforteacher pants'.
I got no exercise yesterday and today is shaping up much the same way. No, the **** with it, I'm going to the city this morning, So there!
Anyways. Tell me more about this challenge. I will check in when back from the city.
Aunty Jam, when do you start training?
Have a lovely day Canadian Chickies!

josey 03-31-2011 12:09 PM

Rules? I don't know. I have never participated in a challenge :-)

Here is a suggestion:

Victoria Day is on May 23 this year. My weigh in day is May 22 (Sunday), so I think we just stick to our weigh in days closest to Victoria Day, if you weigh in, if not it is May 23.

As for the goal, how about everybody sets their own goal and posts it here. So greeneggsandtam, you can just set a certain size you want to reach by then or pants you want to wear on the long weekend.

And then we report back every week (or more often if you wish) on how it is going.

My challenge details would be something like:

201 lbs on May 22 (halfway mark in my weight loss) or even better onederland!

What do you think guys? Do we set up some rewards too?

Anybody else interested in a challenge? We can start a new thread and also invite people outside of Canada!?

Aunty Jam 03-31-2011 12:27 PM

Abso-freaking-lutely!!!! I'm in! Um.. I'm going to have to think of a goal though, I need something definate, not vague like "Stick to my running plan". I think up here we have a run on that day... like an organized, city thing. Maybe I'll aim for the 10k? I'll stew on this for a while.

As for training for the half marathon... um... now would be a good time to start!!! LoL!

L R K 03-31-2011 12:29 PM

Bleh, snowed last night so everything is covered. Where are you spring??

Thanks for that link, very pretty :D

Aunty Jam 03-31-2011 02:42 PM

Hi Lauren  glad you liked the link :)

BLEH!!! I checked on the run I mentioned and it's cancelled!!!!

josey 03-31-2011 05:12 PM

Ok, I am going to set my challenge goal to 199 lbs (onederland) by May 22. Phew, I hope that is going to work out.

josey 03-31-2011 05:33 PM

I started a new thread for the challenge: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/supp...ml#post3785281

greeneggsandtam 04-01-2011 01:42 PM

Nice job Josey - on starting the challenge thread. Good timing as well. I wonder if I can see a dietician soon.
Anyways DH and I had an unintentionally high protein-ey meal last night. Burgers - quinoa salad - edamame beans. There's nothing worth doing that isn't worth overdoing I guess. lol

silentarctic 04-03-2011 03:12 PM

I love spring, best time of year (well before it gets slushy) . I love Minus -15 with a -20 windchill, cold enough that the snows not slushy , btu warm enough that I do not get insta-frostbite outside. Yeah!! :)

greeneggsandtam 04-03-2011 11:23 PM

Hey all; It's an evening check in here. I went waaaaaay off plan yesterday at a birthday party and had about a bottle of wine. YIKES. I am feeling poorly today to say the very least. But you know what they say- get back on the horse. And that I shall do. DH and I enjoyed some smoothies tonight instead of chips and pop so woot for us! Also have been working very hard helping build our house so that's a bunch of activity my body isn't used to! I am sore all around today! Anyways I hope everyone had a great weekend!!
Tam

Aunty Jam 04-06-2011 12:00 PM

Ug... I was way off plan yesterday too. I won't detail the things I ate but it was bad :(

To top it off I've hit another roadblock... I have strep throat and I've just realized I forgot to take my antibiotic this morning!!!! Argh! For crying out loud, yeesh.

josey 04-06-2011 12:21 PM

Hi Aunty Jam, I had a rough day yesterday too and a hard time sticking to the plan. The only thing that helped me was repeating to myself: "I am smarter than this!" But it was a huge fight that didn't help me concentrate on my job for sure! And I have no idea why it was so tough yesterday.
When I went home after work I punished myself on the treadmill :-) Well, not really punish but I figured if I am on there, I can't get to the goodies in the kitchen. Then I tried out a new pilates DVD I bought and holy!!!! Beginners level is insane. I could barely do an exercise once, let alone 10 times. That will take me a while to get through that one. $5 well invested :-)
After that I had a massive dinner and then I was ok. But what a day...

PS: Get well soon!!

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-06-2011 10:06 PM

 FELLOW CANUCKS ~ thanks for getting the new spring thread up and going, AUNTY JAM -- you are such a big help here. Hope you are feeling better real soon. My old PC gives me trouble some days; came in to read the other night, but couldn't get a reply in. It's quieter tonight, so it's working.

JOSE, TAM & others ~ we all have those off days, don't we? That's right, just get back on that horse and ride -- Hi, Ho, Silver ... ;)

:welcome: LAUREN A & SILENTARTIC ~ glad you joined us over here; keep coming back to visit us ...

I have been eating really well in March & April; so glad for that. Did some tweaking to my portion plan and it is really helping me a lot. I added in some more protein snacks; keeping my whole grain carbs in check; and the salty snacks out!!! That plus my Christian meditations really seem to be helping me this year. :D

GOOD NEWS ~ I ordered myself a brand new PC and it should be here and up and running with high-speed internet in a week or less. Yahoo ... it's about time, eh? I know, I'm so way behind ... ;) Not for long though; soon I'll be back here regularly. Thanks to all of you for keeping this thread going strong; and I hope your challenges go well for you all too!

We had some ***** the other day, but had lovely :sunny: all day today. Take good care & have a great week all ... Rosebud :flow2:

Izzadawn 04-08-2011 01:36 PM

Spring Can't get here soon enough for me.... seems every weekend there is another storm coming from Ontario.

I have however, managed to get some spring cleaning done. I love it when the Sunshines through a freshly cleaned window.

You Ladies all sound like your having a Great time!!! Thanks for the Victoria Day Challenge !!!

josey 04-08-2011 04:53 PM

Hi guys,
any plans for the weekend?
We are going to a lacrosse game tonight. Yay! I love lacrosse. So exciting!!
I might go to the mall on the weekend and shop for clothes. Everything is a getting a bit too loose. I am not complaining!!!

Have a great weekend everybody!

Izzadawn 04-09-2011 08:32 AM

Weekend Plans

The Sun is SHINING... Doing Some Yard Work !!!!

greeneggsandtam 04-10-2011 03:11 PM

Good Sunday All! So happy to see more people here! We have been enjoying the spring so far and happily putting up with the mud in the yard!
Izzadawn- When I first looked at your post I saw those happy faces on cloud five! I wondered what that meant. (Silly tam. Look closer!) Hope the yardwork was rewarding and fun!
Rosebud- have you gotten your new computer yet?
Josey - How was the lacrosse game? I haven't been to one, like ever! And I know there are some teams in town.
Welcome Silent Arctic and Lauren!!

Well I behaved considerably better this weekend and even managed to stay somewhat on plan. I am reticent to admit that cutting carbs works well for me. I really didn't want it to be the case, but I'm afraid so. I love bread and potatoes. ALOT and I just KNOW that when I get started on them I will eat until I'm full and far past that point too. Geez that bugs me. I would like to believe I have a modicum of control about this but I just don't seem to. I even know and remember so well the way it feels to be so full and hear me tell myself - "It's just so GOOD! Keep going, It's okay!" (I write this with no small amount of shame.)
Why?? Why do I do this? Will I always be this way? And how connected is this behaviour with the state of my home and my finances and work and school?
GAH! I need to do some research on this for sure. And clean my house. Anyways, long post, sorry ladies. My vent/confession that I probably should have started a thread for.
Hope everyone is out enjoying the weather,
tam

Aunty Jam 04-13-2011 12:03 PM

Hey everyone... welcome to our new folk

Rosebud - No problem! That's me... I like to help out :) I was wondering if you had dropped off the face of the earth - LoL. Good to know it was just computer problems. Get the new one yet?

Tam - I love carbs too... bread, my favorite. I'm lucky though that I LOVE the whole wheat stuff wtih nuts and seeds.. mmmmm. But you're right, can't eat to much. Everyone needs to vent sometimes... but feel free to come over and clean my house too!!!

Josey - I went shopping this weekend too! Bought some new running gear! Actually got a shirt in a medium.

Hi Izz! - The sun was shining here to.. but now it's gone away! :( I'm going to cry.

greeneggsandtam 04-13-2011 12:29 PM

Good Morning!
Aunty Jam - My cleaning skills leave much to be desired, but isn't it funny that you said that. I never mind cleaning or organizing another space. Someone else's room or house, but cleaning mine seems to be such a hassle! Anyways, sounds like you had a good experience at the running store. Woohoo-medium!
I hope all is well with everyone else!
I am bound to the country today to finish two papers and keep packing for our big move in May.
We just poured concrete on our main floor yesterday for the radiant floor heating and I gotta tell you; I have a new respect for anyone who does that for a living. It's heavy and messy and miserable! It is something I will keep in my mind to avoid at all costs.
Anyways happy wednesday Canadian Lovelies.
T

Aunty Jam 04-14-2011 11:51 AM

And we're back to winter! Hope everyone here in Alberta enjoyed their spring and summer, we're getting 10-15cm of snow. Wonderful :(

Tam - my house is a constant mess... but a teenager and a teenage-like husband will do that.

josey 04-14-2011 12:13 PM

Ha! We got a foot overnight. Literally from a skiff at 9pm to 1ft at 5am. CRAZY!!!

I guess, welcome to Alberta!

Aunty Jam 04-15-2011 12:07 PM

^ I hope you enjoyed your spring and summer... we're back to winter now! Isn't it horrible out there! SO icy this morning! I slid right through a yield sign... luckly there was no one coming the other way.

greeneggsandtam 04-15-2011 01:58 PM

What!! A foot of snow! Truly this is the never-ending-winter. Blech. We didn't get that much here in SK. Just a whole lotta wind and tiny bit of snow. Enough to have something to complain about.
I need to exercise jeez louise- I had my sports bra on yesterday and everything. Got sidetracked by going for coffee twice, shopping for a shirt and getting groceries! Talk about avoidance. Never done that before!! Yikes. I am making it a point to go this weekend! Okay enough talk. I'm off to get academic for the afternoon! Cheers to Friday!!
T

josey 04-18-2011 11:49 AM

We got another 15cm snow over the weekend. Does it every end? Grrrrrrrrrr. This morning it was only -11C (-17C with the wind). Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Anyways, at least the weekend turned out really great diet-wise. Sunday is my weigh in day and I drop a fantastic 4.8 lbs. After a depressing stall last week I am super excited now. I still can't believe it!

BF (he lost 3.6 lbs this week) and I immediately started trying on "old" clothes that didn't fit anymore and holy!!! I am wearing pants today that where to tight to wear pre Christmas. I think this is the first and last day I am going to wear them. I didn't bring a belt and now I have to make sure they don't fall to my knees when I get up :-) Surely a nice problem to have :-)))

BF was totally shocked that a shirt he was hiding in his closet for years is not only fitting again but by the time it is warm enough to wear short sleeves, it will be too big!

I hope you are all doing well chickies! Have a great week!

PS: There is a new Canada Day challenge out. I signed up for it :-) http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/chic...challenge.html

greeneggsandtam 04-19-2011 11:38 AM

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
Josey! Congrats on a 4.8lb loss!!!
I would like you to know that I thought you deserved some smileys and so I had to pull them out. I rarely use them... but 4.8 lbs? Awesome!
Perhaps it was all the raging at the stupid extra winter you've gotten?
We didn't have snow yesterday but ice pellets. I don't care what you say - it's not snow so it doesn't count and it is still spring. So there!
I am off to the gym shortly and just wanted to check in !!
Everybody have a great day!!
Tam

josey 04-19-2011 12:51 PM

Hi Tam!

Thanks so much! I love the smileys! I am really excited!

Well, the sun is out now and we are hoping for the best. Some places in AB had -20C this morning. Isn't that insane? It better be a long, hot summer this year!

Aunty Jam 04-19-2011 04:20 PM

Hey Everyone :) No more of that nasty white stuff :) Where in AB had -20 this morning??? I didn't hear, ick!

Hubby let slip this morning that he has to pay to reserve something for our 10th anniversary in June... I wonder what!

We're (hopefully) adopting another dog... he's a 1 year old border collie cross... I can't wait. I go through the whole "can we? should we?" thing at least once a day. My friend assures me it's normal pre-mommy puppy jitters. We think our current mutt is lonely since our old dog passed on. I guess we'll see... home check next week, then we get to meet him after that.

Waterton of all places!

I hope we all get to see the new dog. How exciting!

josey 04-20-2011 09:33 AM

Hey Chickies, I just found out that H&M Canada has a one week sale starting today with pants $10 and up. I just thought somebody else might have pants dropping to the floor :-) No point in spending too much money on pants we hopefully don't wear too long :-)
(PS: I hope this is something I am allowed to post here)

greeneggsandtam 04-20-2011 11:16 AM

Josey - No H&M in S'toon!!
AuntyJam - Waterton? So jealous, I love it there. It's so beautiful. What is the border collie crossed with I wonder.
We have two blue heeler/border collies. Lola and Frida. They are from the same litter, but one looks more collie and the other is totally heeler. I am convinced they are both smarter than I am.
Anyways...we had a birthday BBQ for my husband on the weekend and I went a little crazy on the wine and cake. But I was at the gym yesterday running intervals. Woot!! So there you go. Off plan/on plan is never going to work for me is it? I am still determined to get into the good jeans on Victoria day. Yes I am.

Aunty Jam 04-20-2011 04:27 PM

Josey - Waterton? That's crazy, that's south! I'm sure there's an H&M here but I have no idea where... I don't shop much. Maybe I'll ask the Step-D, she's a little shopping diva. But thanks for the tip!

Tam - We're thinking it's probably a lab cross, he has short hair and loves to retrieve apparentally. Then again, that's what we were told our current dog is but DNA results proved otherwise (no matter how loudly disagreed with by my husband). We used dnamydog.com, got the kit from a local rescue and sent it off. It was only around $65 for the test and $15 for the kit. I'll post a picture of them both when we get him :)

Well... my first race is tonight... 4.5k around a local park. Wish me luck!

josey 04-24-2011 09:31 PM

Sigh. We had a weird food day with a late lunch at my BF's parents. They insisted on 2pm and we usually eat around 11am. Needless to say that didn't go well. And then the lunch at their place wasn't healthy at all. Well, they tried but not very successful. On the way home we decided to write this day off and it didn't end well. Too many easter chocolate around. So, well we are totally off the plan today. We will see what the results are. Good thing this morning was weigh in which means we have a full 6 days to work it off :-)

I hope you all had a great weekend!

PS: We both feel terrible with all that crap in our body. A nice reminder how good the new lifestyle is for us I guess.
