  • I was so excited last night--I had a 5 lb loss and I feel so good!
I used to be in the habit that after I had my meeting I would then "cheat" that night and then maybe again on Friday. NOT happing this time!!

I'm swammped at work working against a deadline and took a small break (i had to think of something else for a few minutes) so that I could get some food and not look later for candy or chips so I'll do personals later.
  • Happy friday everyone! I was so busy yesterday I only ended up with 900 calories But today will be better! We went to a few shelters yesterday bc Dh has decided that we should get a dog. I am allergic so I told him I want either a female bichon frise or female yorkie (since I don't have a girl and can dress it up lol). I have this anxiety whenever a dog is in the house so I don't know how I will handle it. I am always scared they will poop, pee or tear something up. I guess it's bc I have never really had a dog and keep everything so clean and organized here.

Liz- Do you think it was worth getting the puppy and was it hard at first?

Saturday weigh in sounds good since it's my normal weigh in day anyways.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Sorry for the fly by post but I am on my iPod.
  • Happy Friday everyone! Hope it's going well for you all. Today was WI day for me and I lost 2.8 pounds. So that was a good start to my day. But then we went to town and everyone got hungry. Somehow we ended up at Gold Star and I really didn't want to eat bad but there aren't many good choices at that place and I gave in. I got a 5 way and ate most of it. When I got home it was the moment of truth. I calculated the points and about died when I saw 19!! 19 flipping points for one small bowl of noodles, chili and cheese. AHHHH! So the rest of the day I am on strict mode. Spaghetti squash it is for dinner. lol
  • Hi all! Today's been a little better day, mentally- it's been a really hard week. Remember I was putting off having a breakdown over DH's layoff til after Christmas? Well, this was the week for it! Crikey! I've been a mess, and what do I think is the cure? Chocolate, of course! Guess I never quite learn that lesson... Anyway, since it's Friday and nothing much can be done about the situation over the weekend, I'm trying really hard to get a grip. Tomorrow's WI will be unpleasant, to say the least, but it's OK, cause I'm back on track NOW!

Carri, remember Arabella got the roundy bottom shoes a while back? (Were they sandals, though? Maybe?) I got the roundy bottom sneakers for Christmas, but haven't been able to get going in them for one reason or the other, but mostly because of the snow! (I like to make up words... LOL!)

Liz, oh, bathing suit shopping? Swimming's great, but bathing suit shopping takes some fun out of it! LOL! And in the middle of winter - ugh! I hope I'm less alarmed about it by May, when the pools open around here. And this has nothing to do with anything, but it just struck me funny- today at work, I got a phone call from a woman in Ontario, and through the whole conversation, I just kept wondering if she knew you! Stupid, I know, I'm sure Ontario is big. LOL!

Arabella, I think we may be in the same ballpark again, weight-wise. What do you say we get this thing DONE this time around?! And I shall take your advice about the shoes. I normally don't wear shoes in the house at all, but maybe I can make allowance for these, since they haven't been used outside yet.

OK, must get to the grocery store before dark, the roads will be freezing up soon from today's snow mess! Have a good night, everyone!
  • Happy Saturday! Once again I've been foiled by not seeing there was another page of posts, so... didn't mean to neglect those on this page!

Susie, HURRAY for a 5lb loss! It's so good to feel good, isn't it? Keep up the good work!

Mel, my friend who's allergic to dogs, has a Whippet. She doesn't have any allergy trouble with her, but that dog is a RUNNER! And yeah, if you have a dog in the house, stuff is gonna get messed up! It's definitely worth it in the long run, but puppyhood is hard. I think as long as you know what to expect, it's easier to deal with.

T, YAY for another -2.8! Don't worry about your one bad meal- it's about what we do repeatedly that's the problem. You're doing great!

OK, so, official WI... I'm up 4.5 from the holidays, but that's not nearly as much as I thought it would be, so I guess I should be happy about that. Ticker's updated, painful as that is. Onward and downward!

    Have a great weekend, girls!
  • Yes, I would agree, puppyhood is hard!! And it's been a challenge for me too, in terms of organization and cleanliness...the house training period was a challenge (and hence my major steam cleaning of the whole house, she's finally completely trained with no accidents!!). And lots of things have been chewed, no question. Mostly kids toys I'm not too worried about, but still. Anyhow as long as you can deal with some chaos for a while, puppies are great and I think well worth it. But if the idea of chaos is too alarming, perhaps an adult dog that's already trained might be a great idea. A puppy with two little kids has been harder than I thought it would be, to be honest. I don't think I'd recommend it to very many people. But now it's getting better, and I'm happy we did it, but even still I have moments where I am like "WTF was I thinking???" At this very moment though I am watching her play with Jacob in the backyard in the snow, and they're having a great time, so it's all good!! haha

Susie - Congrats on the awesome weigh in!! And for making a great choice afterwards too!

T - How was the spaghetti squash? I am determined to try that - I've never had it. I have one in my fridge right now, I am going to cook it tonight!

auntie g - YAY for onwards and downwards!!

OK so I did weigh in yesterday, but I'll weigh in today too - I'm at 154.8 which is down 2.8 from last Saturday. I'll go and update my ticker now! Hope everybody has a great Saturday.
  • Saturday
Well, the weight stands according to ticker. I definitely could have done more damage over Christmas than I did and could have left it longer to weigh in, which could have led to a big gain. So all in all -- ONWARD! Looking for a couple pounds off by next Friday.

Auntie g, the mental state makes all the difference, doesn't it. I was miserable all day yesterday but cheerful again today. I did start with the sandals and they made my feet so happy that I got another pair, then moved on to the walking shoes and then the runners. They work for me, for sure. I might just get myself a pair of the boots if they go on sale... Oooh... just looked at the site and saw boots and non-athletic type leather shoes. They're not the most gorgeous but they're SO comfortable and I also like that they add a little height. I get sick of having to wear flat shoes all the time.

Liz, oh yeah -- puppies! Really, almost like having another baby but they do at least grow up faster. And they're so sweet and dogs are such wonderful animals, at least when they're raised well. I don't think there's an animal in the world that loves as purely as a dog does. Congrats on the 2.8 -- you are a machine, Woman!

T, congrats on the 2.8! Popular number, huh. And, if you're going to have a splurge, after weigh-in's the time to do it.

SUZIE!!! Five big ones gone is awesome. AND you've broken through into the 200s -- that's a big landmark! Sometimes it's hard to get across those borders but there you are.

    Carri

K, have a fabulous weekend, Lovelies!
  • One big milestone behind me!!
Good morning ladies....and a good morning it is!!! I weighed in at 194.6! Holy moly! I had to do a triple take lol So that is a 3.4 lb loss, I guess it shows the strict diet with NO fast food really worked for me...at least this week.lol I also weigh less then I did when I met DH ( though it was proportioned differently on my body lol). We are going to the flea market to see if they have any yorkies bc our search isn't going to good.

T- don't worry about one bad meal bc its behind you! And yay for 2.8 lbs lost!

Susie-Congrats on 5 lbs!! That is awesome!

Auntie- Hope you didn't get snowed in. It's a new year and a new start!

Liz-Congrats on the loss, you will be in the 140's in no time! Thanks for the advice about the dog. I am still on the fence but I am hoping since I want such a little dog it will be a little better (crosses fingers).

Arabella- You will be back down in no time!

Hi Carri hope you are having a great weekend and enjoying this snow!Lol

Going to take the kids out in the snow later so this should be fun!
  • Yeah Mel you're right, a german shepherd can definitely do more damage than a yorkie!! haha Good luck on your search!
  • Hi. I have had a busy day. Cleaning my house, paying bills, (ugh!) getting together the grocery list for the week so DH could go to the store (so thankful he does this for me!) I also had to do some work tonight at home. I was in the office last night until 7;00 p.m. and I just put in another 2.5 hrs. The OT will be nice in the paycheck.

I need to catch my food journal up for the day but I've been keeping track in my head and I'm pretty sure I'm in my calorie range. No exercise--the housecleaning will have to count for it.

I hope to be able to post tomorrow. I have church in the morning and I have two more rooms to clean in the afternoon. We also had a friend who's mother passed away so we have the viewing tomorrow night too. It's going to be a busy day but I just made up my mind after I wrote that all out that I WILL be here to post--that is the one thing I am doing for me..to keep me on track with my goals/desires.

Rtsmme4life: Congratulations on hitting that number! How did things turn out at the flea market?

Arabella: Thanks for reminding me that breaking into the 200's is something to be celebrated.

sept15lija: Congrats on the 2.8 lb loss.

auntie g: As you said, onward and upward--but let's make the DOWNward. I KNOW you can do it.

tschaff04: Congrats on the 2.8 lbs. I LOVE Gold Star (and Skyline for that matter) but you have made me see it in a different light. I do know they have a kids size..wonder how many points/calories that is? and would it keep one full?
  • Auntie G, Arabella, Rtsmme4life- Thank you all for the encouraging words. I am hoping it doesn't do much damage come weigh in next Friday. I had an hour at the gym today to make up for it so I do feel better.

sept15lija- I don't know if you made the squash yet or not but I LOOOOOVE spaghetti squash. It is so versatile and NO POINTS(for those not on WW it is still super low in cals.) It is a great substitution for pasta. I make it all kinds of ways. Mmm

mychoice2bfit- I haven't gotten the kids portion before but I really doubt it would fill you for long enough for the amount of cals/fat/carbs in it. It's not a very filling meal at all. I had the 5 way and a few hours later was hungry again. Sure, that would be fine if it hadn't been a 19 point meal!! lol

How's everyone doing today!? I got to go to the gym today and I swear I always feel amazing after a good hour at the gym.

Has anyone every tried juiced beets? I have never tried a beet period but I have heard on here a few times that beet juice gives you lots of energy and suppresses your appetite(similar to what caffeine does). So I bought some today just to try it out. Hopefully it doesn't taste awful. lol
  • Hi. I hope everyone is having a good Sunday. Just got home from church; making Progesso Veggie and Noddle soup. I know that we will stop at a restuarant to eat after we go to the funeral home tonight and in order to stay in my calorie range I am having the soup for lunch--I'll pick something healthy for dinner but with restuarant food it is always higher in calories than you think.

tschaff04: Glad you made it to the gym and was able to get a hour workout in. I agree..after I work out I feel amazing! I've never heard of those beets but I eat beets a lot...by themself, in salads etc.

    I'll see everyone tomorrow.
  • Hey everyone. The dog thing just didn't work out and I realized I am just not ready to take care of a dog, house and 2 busy boys. Dh is upset but since I would be the main one taking care of her he will have to just try to understand.

Cody woke up with a high temp and horrible cough, ibuprofen brought it down for awhile but its back up again. Probably no school for him tmw which sucks bc he has never missed a day I just want my boy to feel better!

Once again the weekend went by to fast!
  • Back to the salt mines. Hi-ho, hi-ho. Actually, I'm sitting here with a steaming posting before I settle in to work, so it could be worse.

I was crabby/depressed all last week but I pulled myself out of it yesterday, got a few things done that needed doing and felt okay by the afternoon. Sometimes I just need to give myself a push.

Mel, congrats on the nice loss! You're probably wise to decide against a dog at this point. I always say you might as well just have another baby. Hope the boy feels better soon!

Suzie, sounds like you were super-productive over the weekend. I didn't get much done on Saturday but then on Sunday I went into semi-dynamo mode.

T, I hadn't heard that about beets. I like them but don't cook them often. I'd love to have a juicer, though. In theory, I'd start each day with a glass of veggie juice that would give me super powers.

Liz, is it a Yorkie you've got? They can all do some damage, of course. My cats have even done a surprising amount when left alone overnight. Years ago when DH and I were dating I came home to find the curtains down, furniture clawed and poop in my shoe. They were obviously displeased.

And on that note, guess I'll go get some actual work done.
  • Morning Girls - had a nice relaxing weekend...but woke up real early this morning with severe stomach cramps and was on the toilet most of the morning, sorry TMI ....I am hoping it was the Armor chili with beans I had last night for dinner and not a bug that is going around here, fingers crossed !!! Almost called in to work today over it, glad I didnt since two others did.
We are supposed to get more snow today and tomorrow, they say about 3-5 inches when it is all said and done, so that should be lovely - I dont mind when I dont have to get out in it, but thru the work week it makes it difficult.

Liz - great to hear your first week back to work went well and fast ....yeah I have heard about those shoes now that you tell me what they are, I have thought about getting some but have heard mixed reviews...I know my mother in law got some but has yet to wear them, I guess she wants her butt lifted at 65 years of age, haha ...

Arabella - me too, I have been in a funk lately....guess it is because of the whole eating crappy and trying to get back on board with it all, plus the Winter gets me down after a while...hope we both get back to our spunky selves soon, haha

Mel - I totally understand about the dog, it is a huge job, like having another kid or person in the house to take care of - so dont feel bad...hope your son gets to feeling better asap !! GREAT job on the loss - you are back on it Girlie !!!!

T - no I dont usually ever have beets, dont like them ....the only time I ever buy them is in the can so dh can have the juice to pickle eggs in...yeah he is odd ...

My choice - sorry to hear about your friends mom...hope you had a good Sunday after. CONGRATS on your 5pds down, great job !!!!!

Auntie G - Hi ya, dont feel bad about the gain, I have gained like 10 over the holidays...it happens, we move on ...we can do this in 2011 !!!!

Yeah, I could go for a Saturday weigh in for all of us if that is what everybody wants ...well back to work, have a great day Girls.

    Carri
