SUSAN I am so happy for you that you got the new program things. I am so sad for me. I had my order made out on the WW web site and by the time I got the money for it put on my debit card the things I ordered were out of stock. First day the site was opened with the new products on it and they sold out. I was after what you were able to get but now I will have to wait till they get restocked. Surely it will be before the new year rolls around when I want to start it in ernest. If they let me I would buy what I want on another countrys web site but they prohibit that.
Type at y'all later ~ Maggie, being bummed out in the Hearland.
Good morning ladies. It is quite warm here this morning as it is 54 outside right now. I have had the little fan on all night. I went to sleep early last night around 8 after "House" and slept really soundly for once. I did wake up at 2 to go to the bathroom then couldn't go back to sleep so decided to balance my checkbook and go ahead and post.
Susan: Glad you got all the tools you need to get started on the new program. I know you will enjoy it. We are working on getting Fortune to sleep on his pillow at night, but he was up on the bed last night. I do make him get down off my lap and lay on the pillow, not because I don't want him in my lap, but I do want him to get used to sleeping on the pillow and the more he does it the more he will sleep there. I think it is better for his bones at his age. He is 11 years old as of next week and yorkies tend to have hip dysplasia. I noticed he is more stubborn about jumping up on stuff than he used to be so it might be starting to affect him.
Maggie: I am sure you will be able to get your kit soon. I haven't really had a chance to look at the cookbook much yet, but I did see a couple recipes I would like to try when I just glanced through it a bit.
Jean: Let's see, I think Rendezvous was on one of the man vs food episodes from Memphis, and it is on a couple of the shows they have done on BBQ. I think it is also on that countdown foods show where they do the top 100 restaurants. It is a pretty remarkable place. The only thing I never liked about it was they dry rub their ribs instead of saucing them. They used to not give you sauce unless you asked then you would get this tiny little cup, but now they put bottles on the table. They are pretty strongly opinionated about their dry rub ribs so I waited until our waiter walked away then scraped all the rub off as much as I could! lol I then put sauce over them.
I am glad the holidays for the most part are over for us. We will get together with Tom and Kelly on Christmas Eve to give Thomas his big present and probably have dinner together or lunch, but we are not doing a big cooking event for Christmas. They go to his parents for Christmas and have it together and since his father is ill, I am sure it will be all that more important to them this year.
Today I need to get the house dusted and vacuum some leaves and such off the carpet. They get tracked in all the time. I think we are going to have to do one more leaf blow out for the fall. I can't believe it is almost officially winter around here. It has been so much more mild than usual for this time of year. I just hope it sticks around. I can stand these 50 and 60 degree temps!
It is 35 degrees here in the Heartland and feels like 23 with a NW wind at 21 mph. Not much on my "to do list" this day ~ just waiting for a glass order to arrive. I need solder to continue building. I turned on my snow program on my desktop and it is falling behind this window. I like it in here better than outside. Must be getting old. Do you realize this is the last day of November. This month sure went by fast. With the new WW program I will get lots and lots of points. It will certainly be a change for me. The web site sure has a different look. Wonder how the folks who aren't changing to the new program will use the site since it changed over. Have any of you, besides Susan of course, checked it out? My friend that works for WW out in CA said she has been working long hours learning the program and getting everything set up at the meeting place. I am thawing a chicken which I will put in the pot and cook then make some chicken noodle soup after I have strained the broth and shredded the chicken. Will isn't much of a soup eater but loves this. I like to freeze it in serving sized baggies and we are currently out now. It is so good especially this time of the year. I am thankful for my microwave that makes thawing frozens out so nicely. What did we do before microwaves. I do remember when I got my first one and WOW was it spendy. They have gotten so much better and come down in price.
DONNA FAYE Looks like now you can coast through till the new year since you don't do a biggie for Christmas. We don't either. Just the two of us we play it small. Drive around and look at all the beautiful lights folks have put on thier houses and yard art. Enjoy each others company and be joyful. I love this time of the year for folks seem to be so much nicer.
JEAN & SUSAN Good day to the two of you. Hope all is well in your little corner of the world.
OH SUSAN I don't believe I answered your question re: my hair. It is short spikey on top and upswept in the back.
Time to see what I can get into. Finished my coffee, read the news and posted here. Now I am ready to face the day. Type at y'all later.
Good afternoon, ladies! 69 degrees today and the rain is starting as I type.
I had work today and then went to the Y to do my weights. There is a "12 Days of Fitness" contest starting tomorrow. I signed up. You have to work out at least 30 minutes 12 times betwenn December 1 and December 23. That should be a piece of cake. You get a card signed by the receptionist each time you go. When it's full, you put it in the box for the drawing - a free month, an hour with a trainer, etc. I never win anything but I keep hoping.
Maggie, I wish I could get a kit for you and send it. But I got my free calculator and bought the extra one and they track it on your computer file. Hopefully it won't be long and they'll have more stock. It really is a nice kit. Do you have a meeting in your area with open hours to buy things or could you just go to one meeting? You get everything at once now, not spread out over 10 weeks. One thing that interested me is that WW has computed sugar alcohols into the points tracker entries and in the new program book it says you may get less using the calculator but you should use the online entry or those in the books to be more accurate.
Faye, poor Fortune is about 77 years old now, the senior among us! I'm sure the pillow feels good to his old bones. Cupid is going to be 11 this year but he's still as spry as ever. He's so funny. He sleeps where he can see my face and if I turn over, he gets up and walks around to the other side.
Hi, Jean, did you have another volunteer day?
I've entered my breakfast, lunch, and snacks into the tracker and I still have 12 points for dinner and popcorn while the Biggest Loser is on. I can get used to this.
SUSAN I am so happy for you being able to get the WW products you wanted. I checked in at the WW site and the Delux Member Kit was available. By the time I clicked to add it and went to check out they had taken it off my list for it was "out of stock" again. So quickly it happened. I went ahead and ordered the calculator, food scale and cook book before they go out of stock also. I will just have to keep checking for the kit. They don't sell the cover for the daily tracker separate on the web site either. I will just have to keep checking on the web site if they have what I want in again. If I can't get it on line before next Monday I'll go to the local meeting which just meets on Monday evenings and see if I can get it there. Just the one meeting time here in this little burg. I may just end up getting it from my leader friend out in CA afterall.
Good Evening, Flowers! You've been a chatty bunch since I was here last! It's been terribly windy and cold here today and is -18 wind chill as I'm typing. I got a perm this morning which took longer than usual; I was the first and only one so don't know if she talked more and worked slower or what. After lunch I was being lazy and watching the cooking channel when Will called. He was in town to pick up a load that wasn't loaded yet so came out to the house. He was supposed to be on his way by 4, but the trailer still wasn't loaded. Bob was running late so we ended up going out to eat a late supper. By the time they got done loading the trailer Will didn't have enough driving time to deliver in the opposite corner of the state, pick up the next load, and be where he needed to be by Thursday morning. So he is sleeping right now and will leave around 3 AM. Needless to say I got zilch done around the house today. I am heading off to bed because I didn't sleep very well last night -- too much salt and too many trips to the bathroom!
Morning gals! It went from the 50's into the thirties and is back in the 40's now. It still isn't like Jean's weather so I am not complaining.
Maggie: Man, I am sorry you haven't been able to get the new kit. No very good planning on their part IMO. They had to have known there would be a rush to get the stuff.
Susan: I know you can win the challenge and get the prize.
Jean: Sounds like they had some slowpokes at the warehouse Will went to get his truck filled up. I imagine it was nice to visit with him for a bit though. I was thinking about Bob and the way he farms these days when the other day I watched "Places in the Heart." I can't imagine picking cotton by hand, can you? Jack hasn't ever picked cotton but he has chopped cotton (the hoeing around it method) to keep out weeds and such I guess. What do I know, I am a northern girl, ask me about corn! I remember how horrified I was right after he and I got married and we went to visit his granny and pawpaw. Their house was right in the dang middle of a cotton field. There was this little lane up to their house but all around them completely was cotton. Gave me the creeps sort of.
I found a new thing to do with my Iphone and I love it. I download books to it like the Kindle does. I found several free books and downloaded them and then I remove them when I finish them. It is pretty cool. I was leery about buying the thing for a couple years even though Jack really wanted one, but I sure have gotten my money out of it. It had a gps coordinate built into it that is kind of cool. If you are in an accident it gives the cops your coordinates to find you and stuff like that. We went to look for something the other day and found it right away without even putting up the regular gps.
Since we have some big expenses that we want to use the tax refund for next year, we are not going on a big vacation next year. We decided to go back to Branson since it is close and still has several shows we want to see. That is the hotel I am waiting for a response from. The only bad thing is that it is downtown so you have to fight traffic all the way to get to any of the shows, but the dinner cruise we want to take is just across the walk along the lake there so that should be pretty easy to get to! We also want to do a magic show, this group of brothers that are singers called SIX and this really good Elvis impersonator they have. I think we are going to go see 12 Irish Tenors too if we can fit it in. I read Trip Advisor for opinions on shows and stuff and saw one written for the Branson Belle that we went on. It was for the show the next day after we were there and I guess the boat had NO working toilets so they kept the boat docked for the dinner, but wouldn't give people their money back! This guy was pretty livid about it and I would be too. I would have thrown a HUGE stink about it. Branson sells a most of their tickets from ticketing places not from the actual attraction websites so I think that may be where the problem lies. I do feel for those people though as there is no way I could sit through a whole dinner and a two hour show without a bathroom. I went twice while we were on the boat. My hbp diuretic causes that.
Well, gals, I want to finish this book I am reading and get more of T's sock done. I have another pair that have to be made before Christmas besides his so I really have to get a move on. Have a good day all. Faye
It is 22 degrees this first day of December that feels like 22 because the wind is calm. No wind. Amazing. Well ~ I am a happy camper YIPEKIO. I was able to order the Deluxe Member Kit this morning form the WW web site for they had them in again. That was quick to restock. So now my two orders are on their way and certainly I will have them before the new year so I can study them. And I found out that where I ordered my latest coffee container they had sent me the wrong one and that is why it didn't hold what the catalogue said it would. The gal said they will ship me the right one and I can keep the one they sent already. Such a deal. Instead of the 16 oz which was on the order and I had paid for it they sent the 12 oz which cost less. So now I will have a 10 oz, 12 oz and a 16 oz. Life is good. I have delt with this company for years and really like their products ~ kitchen stuff. Wouldn't you know it. Ole Ragg Mopp doesn't like staying outside very long when it is this chilly. Here it is the start of a brand new month.
JEAN Not having the truck loaded sure put Will behind which was none of his own doings. I hope he doesn't get into any trouble over being late.
DONNA FAYE Oh girl. I could download books also to my phone but don't want to read them on my small phone. I am still old enough to want to hold a book and turn pages. That kind of stuff is for you youngsters. You go girl!
SUSAN How ya doin?
MAGNOLIAS Have a great first day of December. Type at y'all later.
Good Morning, Flowers! The sun is shining and the wind chill is 2 degrees! There is a breeze but nothing like the 45 mph wind yesterday. Will ended up spending part of the night with us; I got up at 3 and he was gone. I sprained (?) my knee getting out of the truck yesterday -- really stupid on my part since I stepped on frozen snow which I knew was there. I'm hoping it will mend on it's own because I don't have time for a doctor appt. or therapy this week. We are planning a quick trip to Sioux City this afternoon so I can work on my Christmas list. Amanda's graduation is the 18th and I'm hoping to find Chicken Soup for the Nurse at Barnes & Noble for part of her gift.
"Gma" -- I really would like to go back to Branson too. We didn't get to see the Elvis impersonator, and I've heard he is very good. There was a group of 3 Texas (?) Tenors who appeared on America's Got Talent; they lasted until the end but didn't win. I wonder if they are in Branson with the other 9? Will's truck was loaded and ready to go about 5:30, but by then his timing didn't work out for the next load pick-up so he decided to use his 10 hours of off time, leaving at 3 AM. He has to figure out how many miles, how long it will take, etc., on his own and hope that loads are ready for him when he gets there. If they aren't he gets paid after 2 hours of waiting and the company making him wait gets charged. He was picking up a load of meat from the local pack so I'm assuming the "loaders" were you-know-who and they don't move very fast. Have fun knitting today!
Maggie and Susan -- Hope you have a sunny day!
I need to make a quick trip to the grocery store and stop at a candle shop for a $5 gift. Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!
JEAN I certainly do hope you didn't hyper-extend your knee. I did that once on ice in MN and it took forever to heal. Nothing that the Doc could do about it either. I am so very careful now where I step. Please be careful and I hope you get better real soon. Have fun Christmas shopping. I have heard that book is good.
Will just came in and gave me a sugar free fat free latte and a couple of the Mannheim Steamroller cd's I didn't have and they are my most favorite Christmas music folks. Thanks to Chip Davis. I have some good listening to do this afternoon.
Good afternoon ladies, we were supposed to have a bad storm but only got a little wind and some heavy rain. I'm happy about that. It's 58 degrees today so feeling colder than yesterday.
I'm on day 3 today and when I got on the scale I was down 3 pounds. Don't know that that will be the case when I go to weigh in, but it was an incentive to keep on. I went to aqua aerobics today so got my first check off for the contest. Tomorrow is weights. I got up to lifitng a total of 4,350 pounds a session in November so for December I want to get to 5,000. January I'm going to have them add some new machines to give me a longer session. I tried on those size 12 jeans my friend gave me as an incentive (her old ones) and actually got them zipped and buttoned today. Still a little too tight to wear comfortably for very long because the waist is tight.
Faye, sounds like you have a nice vacation to look forward to. I'm looking forward to our trip to PA this year...and 4 retreats. Was it audio books you downloaded or ones you read? Our library has about 5,000 books available for free download now. It's just like checking out a book in that it will no longer work in 3 weeks unless you renew it. I'm going to get myself a MP3 player so I can take advantage. I could walk a lot longer on the treadmill if I had a good book to get engrossed in. I still have my friend's IPOD and I'm listing to all the Harry Potter books in order - a real marathon!
Jean, I remember cold like that in OH and I never want to experience it again. Our average temperature in the winter is 34 degrees. I could get in the car and drive 3 hours west to the mountains if I wanted cold and snow!
Maggie, I'm glad you got your supplies for WW. I supposed the have shipments coming in every day or two - it would spread out the payments for them. Your latte sounds so good, I'm going to make one. You'll like the cookbooks. I've marked several recipes I want to try.
I am not sure whether to wish you a good middle of the night or very early morning. I have been up since midnight. I woke up hearing Jack and thought maybe he was sick (I fell asleep in the recliner again so he just left me there) but he said he was ok just going to the bathroom. I had to go so got up then turned on the light on low and started working some more on T's sock. Well, got me to thinking how much I need a pair of winter shoes. I wear my crocs all the time, but they can be tacky looking to go out to dinner in. I have the feet on and off swelling so I like the slip on clogs. Found a beautiful blue pair (see pic) this morning on land's end. Love that Iphone. I can just sit and peruse online without having to get up and get on the pc. Anyway, they had a 40% off second item and free shipping so I bought myself a nice jacket too. With my size, I buy big men's zip ups and got a nice bright red, which isn't too manly. It is an outrigger jacket, just the ticket for our weather here without being too heavy. It is guaranteed down into the 30's for warmth so that is good for me. I get hot a lot!
Jean: I got the giggles at the "you know who" comment. Yep, I know who and sadly it is the same here only we contend with two kinds of "you know whos" that act the same way. Hope your knee is feeling much better. I twisted mine a bit the other night when we were out and it was raining. I have short legs so really need the step up into the Mariner and when it has rained that is always slippery and hauling myself in I seem to always slip a bit. It wasn't bad, but it hurt for the moment. Hope you found what you wanted at B and N. I just ordered Thomas's game and his camping "dry packs" for his scouting. I saw that in a couple months his mom is going on a long business trip so he and his dad will be batching it for a couple weeks. I imagine dinner will be across the street and Nana and Pop's while mom is gone.
Maggie: I have some really great Christmas cd's I bought years ago. I have a really nice Johnny Mathis one I like a lot and a beautiful Nat King Cole.
Susan: YOU GO GIRL! Terrific. I imagine you are going to blow them away at next weigh in. I am listening to HP 7 again. I have it loaded on my Ipod and it is just easier to keep listening to it over and over. I enjoy it so why not. I would love to go see the movie again to get some of the stuff I missed. I can't wait for it to come out on dvd now. Jack thinks they will wait and just release both parts together. I think they did a fine job of putting in as much as they could of the book.
Well girls, I should probably try and go back to sleep. I am a bit chilly so will up the furnace a couple degrees. Think I will just stay downstairs though so I don't disturb hubby or doggy since Jack only had a couple more hours of sleep left. Have a great Thursday.
Good Morning, Flowers! It's another sunny morning and much warmer at 31 degrees this morning. My garden flag is hanging quietly for a change. I have WW in an hour and then my "crafty" group this afternoon. I should make a trip to the grocery store since the Thanksgiving leftovers are getting tossed today.
Maggie -- I'm glad you got your WW kit. You'd think they would have "jillions" considering how much they have talked about the new plan coming. I need to dig out some Christmas music although we have a channel on TV that plays the tunes. My knee feels a lot better today. I was hurting last night because of shopping and then riding in the car. I tend to sit in one position which isn't good.
Susan -- on losing with the new plan! I hear it really works well. Can you actually lift that much weight as in if it were a car? That boggles my mind! Size 12 jeans would be good incentive to stay OP!
"Gma" -- I like your new shoes and the jacket sounds fun and at a reduced price even . . . red is my favorite color! We have the 2nd you-know-whos too, but just not as many. They are much more verbal and physical with their crappy attitudes imo. I did get the Soup book and clothes for the kids. Bob always seems to find things he needs and this time it was a new electric drill because his old one won't hold a charge any more.
I have a load of laundry going and need to get it in the dryer. Hope you all have a terrific Thursday today!
Good evening, ladies! Only 41 degrees tonight. At least it was sunny today.
What a day I've had at work - computer woes. I stayed over 2 hours and will have to go in tomorrow. What ticks me off is it's the consultant's fault. I went to the Y and did my weights to work off my frustration. I just hope I get it solved tomorrow so I don't have to work Saturday. Have a Christmas lunch at noon an hour drive from here. I went to a WW meeting last night since I can't go on Saturday. Of course, I couldn't weigh in again this week. The lady next to me said they usually have 15-20 members and the place was packed. Some hadn't even weighed in by the end of the meeting. Vicky had the new and returning members hold up their hands and I couldn't believe but there were more than regular members. They ran out of Deluxe Kits. I think they have divided up what come and alloted the same number to each meeting to give everyone a better chance. I'm sure glad I didn't wait. I don't think WW expected the hoards. There never has been this many for a new plan that I can remember and I've been through a lot.
Faye, I like those shoes. I love Clark's clogs. They have them at Kohl's from time to time. Do you have a pair of the lined Crocks? I hope you can sleep better tonight. I'm loving this WW plan. I hope you knee is better.
Jean, how's your knee? Yes, the total I lift is over 4,000 pounds. I'm really toning up nicely. I need to keep strong muscles so my osteo doesn't break my bones. How did your WW meeting go today?
Maggie, are you busy reading the new materials?
Have a good evening. I'm actually turning the tv on at 9 to watch Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. LOL
