GOOD FOR YOU, DONNA ~ the Beck books are on my Christmas list -- as is "The Gabriel Method" by Jon Gabriel; and I could go on and on and on ...

HEY, AUNTY ~ how about asking Santa for a maid for Christmas??? That would solve your dilemna ...

Have been eating well lately; have been having porridge mix for breakfast and finding it takes away the hunger pangs until lunch better than anything else I have tried -- just in time for winter too. Went to the docs today; and stocked up on a few basics, plus some sales today. Even got a few more early Christmas presents today at great prices; only a few more to go ... yeah! I love sales ...

Have a great week ladies ... Rosebud

Rosebud...can you ask Santa for a maid for me too? He seems to be ignoring my phone calls...

Donna...dumb question on my part but....who is "Beck"?

Aunty Jam...vitamin D in larger doses helps people with SAD (seasonal affective disorder) as well as the light therapy. Here on the east coast we can get A LOT of dreary weather...like we have had non-stop drizzle and dark overcast rain for a week so far...and I find it really can get me in a funk. I sleep ok and eat ok but there is just "something" I can't shake...I have no desire to do anything...no housework, no cooking and I just want to be left alone. Since taking larger quantities of vitamin D (yesterday I took 3000iu and will again today) I find I am back to myself...not 100% but pretty close.

Maddie - no idea who Beck is but her books are about cognitive behavior, so I have high hopes.

Rosebud - good for you getting your christmas list down, i have more to go on mine.

Aunty Jam - I agree about the time change. But I'm finding that I do better in the fall than the spring.

When it rains it pours. I'm on a roll and went to the gym today but as I was getting out I ended up on the ground. Ice! Landed square on my shoulder, hit my knee and scraped my back, so I came right now. I'm sure sore now.

MADDIE ~ her name is DR. JUDITH BECK, and she wrote THE BECK SOLUTION and companion workbook, I believe. There is a complete forum here now at 3fc's for this great work. I love the things she has to say -- they make so much sense. You can go and follow their main chat thread in that forum (which I like to do every now and then as well). If you go back and read the previous threads, you can get a really good idea of her cognitive ideas and techniques ...

OH, DONNA ~ I am sooo sorry about your fall on ice today, and have sent up some prayers for you for comfort and a quick recovery. Hope no long-term injuries there either. Rest as much as you can ...

I have to get a colonoscopy test done on November 22, which I sure hope goes well; pre-op preparation consult the Wednesday before. Oh boy -- such fun ...

We have had full for 4 days in a row now; what a wonderful blessing for us up here in our area. Still no 'white stuff' yet ... and that's OK, it will be here soon enuff, I'm sure. We are finally getting the fall that we missed ... yeah! Take good care ladies, and have a great and safe week ... Rosebud

Hey girls -

I'm still here. Just been quiet lately. Talk about a weather funk - it's been raining here non-stop now for 5 days. Still going strong as I speak. It's supposed to stop sometime through the night or morning I believe and we may even see this thing called a sun for a bit tomorrow. I swear even the ducks are hitchhiking out of the area cause they are as water logged as we are! Some places have declared states of emergency due to flooding and risk of dam breaks. I am glad it isn't snow though or we would be buried by now.

Food hasn't been great lately. Not too bad but not as good as it should be. I am going to stock up this week on more good stuff and my plan is on Sunday to make a few things and freeze so that I don't have to "cook" as much through the week. It's just me and I find I get tired of just cooking for me. So this way I can re-heat and add veggies/salads etc. Its worked in the past - I just have to make the effort on sundays to do it.

Tomorrow is my Friday. Thursday and friday off for my last time off till after the new year. No special plans, but a break from work.

Hope you all have a good evening!

Alannah

Alannah = sorry you are getting so much rain, hopefully the sun will pop out for you! Enjoy your days off!

Maddie - feel better soon!!

I was back to it today after resting for two days. I have a great 55 minute workout at the gym and did my entire body, I'm a bit sore but it feels good too! I have my 3 and their sister today, Hubby is going to work for the morning so I may take them sliding or for a walk. I watched Hoarders last night, so now I'm in declutter mode!

Rosebud - Want to come and be my maid? Come on... I'll even let you snuggle my super cute doggy. Good luck with your procedure.

Maddie - I take 2000 iu a day of D as my doctor perscribed, I'm glad that it can help with SAD. Especially since my light box is broken and the company has been less the helpful with the problem. I'm going to Houston next week and they get more sun then we do... last time I was there I spent every spare minute outside soaking up some rays. I plan to do the same this trip.

Alannah - Good luck with all that water, I've seen some of the pictures. What a mess! I can't imagine the damage.

Donna - Hoarders does the same thing to me. So you're all healed up from your fall? Wouldn't it be nice if we could have summer sunshine hours all year round... ahhh... heaven

Hi Canadian gals! I haven't forgotten about you. I've been super busy with work and working out!

Aunty Jam: About the boxing.. I took a one month muay Thai boxing course in Thailand a few years ago, and it was intense. I lost weight, but then once away from the intense environment where I lived and breathed for a month, I ended up gaining the weight back. I did love the experience and like to kick butt once in awhile!

Maddie: I hope you feel better soon!

snowbound: congrats on working out and getting back into it.
I hear you on feeling sore. I am feeling a bit sore from doing weights again after being away so long. I figure that this pain will be gone by next week after keeping it consistent..hopefully anyway.

Rosebud: Prayers with you on your upcoming operation. See any snow lately? It has been sunny here too but it is supposed to go down to -4 tonight..eek!

Alannah: Enjoy your time off! Hope you are not too water logged.

--
I lost half a pound this week, and can taste getting to my 5% goal. I've already made an appointment for getting my hair done in two weeks. Woo!
Have a great week ladies!

Hey ladies,

I'm always checking this site out but lately I haven't been posting since i felt like i was not budging on the scale at all.

The more I look around, the more I see positive and uplifting people and it seems no matter how hard i try I can't seem to get into the right frame of mind. Sometimes I wonder if I should head on over to the depression forum but yet, I'm not on meds, and I don't think I'm overly depressed.

I just heard the other day from a friend of mine that we are in control of our "psyche" and if we think positive thoughts we become a positive person, and vice versa. i'll have to try that and be like the "little engine that could"

Right now I have joined a BIGGEST LOSER group in my home town and the scale is finally moving again. it seems the motivation is here again and I hope it stays! We all had to pay $25 to join, and at every weekly weigh in if we stay the same or gain we pay $5. If we lose we pay nothing. At the end of the 6 weeks whoever lost the most percentage of fat wins the pot of money!!

My goal is to not to pay the $5 every week. Not so much the pot at the end, but don't get me wrong, the pot would be great too!!

I have made it down to 236.8 lbs and my goal is to see the 220's again!!

Hi JJ, That is great about joining the biggest loser in your home town. I really like the idea of paying 5$ if you gain or stay the same. That could be a big pot by six weeks! Best of luck on that.
I do agree that having positive thoughts is crucial for success. I continually tell myself positive things and thoughts, because I believe if you can think it, then you can believe it. I was negative in the past and my self esteem suffered because of it, but then I changed it around by thinking positive. I do have down days (like today), and just can't move and need to just be alone..but try writing down a positive mantra like, 'I am doing awesome', 'I can get into the 220's', and repeat it to yourself. Try it for a few weeks.

---
Welcome back, Cindy! I'd love to see the pups too!
Congrats on getting near to your second goal.

Aunty Jam, I travelled in SE Asia for three months, and spent vacations in Thailand when I was teaching in Korea for three years. I wanted to challenge myself and decided to take this one month on site boxing course. I do have a blog about my experience on my 3fc blog if you want to read about my experience.

Today my dad told me he would give me $100 when I lose another 10 pounds. I thought it so nice of him to say this. That'll mean I'll be mostly at my 10% goal by then. Today was a down day for me. I didn't sleep much last night, and slept for most of the day, which meant I missed my workout. I guess my body is telling me something. Have a great weekend everyone!
