  • Well, today is my last day on the smoking challenge. I find it hard to believe it's been three weeks already. The first few days were terribly hard and then there was lots of temptation after that, but somehow I made it through. Of course, I plan to continue!

No smoking -- Day 20 completed

    **************

Sea -- Glad we've made an honest woman of you!! Sorry to hear about the "epic fail." BUT, that just sets you up for EPIC SUCCESS! Best of luck!

jolly -- Thanks for the praise! I'm glad I'm making it. Thanks to you all here!

lovely -- I'm still sticking to it, so I hope you are too! Middle East, eh? Anything more specific? I'm in Tokyo. Never been to the Middle East except for a stopover in Dubai once years ago. Good for you for getting three days of your challenge under your belt, which will help lead to LESS under that belt, eh?!
  • I did it. I completed the no-smoking challenge! Thanks for all your support!!
No smoking -- Day 21 completed -- CHALLENGE DONE!!!!
  • Red:

What else can I say? I'm so proud of you!

My two challenges (for Saturday and Sunday):
    2) 15 min of some form of exercise/activity every day - 21/21 Days (-3)
    Actual: Done, Done, Done!

Wow - this kind of crept up on me, but I'm done! I'll be thinking about my next challenge(s), but will take a break as I finish rads treatments (I have 7 to go). I know the sodium one (Keep my sodium intake between 500-1500 mg/day) will be back on! It's been an invaluable learning experience so far, I thought I knew where sodium hides, but really I had no idea!
  • Way to go Red and Sea

    (Man, I love emoticons )

As for me, I am back, on track, and ready to roll. Got through the birthday fairly well, though still battling a little of the "Gee, I'm 40 and have nothing to show for it" blues.

So, here are my challenges, starting today

    1) Eat at least 5 servings of fruits/veggies. 3/3 pauses
    2) Keep calories at or below 2200 cals. 3/3 pauses
    3) Follow exercise plan. 3/3 pauses
    4) Sleep at least 6 hours a night on school nights and at least 7 hours the rest of the week. 3/3 pauses.

Here's to all of us. Have a great day
  • Hello everyone!

redballoon and SeaWave omg! You guys did it!! That is WONDERFUL!
jollygirl, glad to hear you had a fun time at your party.
And redballoon, I live in Kuwait! I've stayed here on and off for years at a time since I was little so it's like home I am originally from Sri Lanka. I've been to Dubai on vacation, and I loved it! Tokyo sounds like such a cool place, how long have you been there? Or are you originally from Japan? (sorry, trying hard not to make assumptions, but it's hard to figure it out from just screen names and avatars

    My challenge updates:
    1. No overeating - day 5/21 complete (2/3 pauses left)

I'm using up a pause for today, day 6, because I messed up after dinner and had a chocolate biscuit. *sigh* Just one, but a screw-up is a screw-up!

Will talk to all of you later! Have a great day.
  • round 2 rollin'....
Hey all. Thanks much for the congratulations..I have been really sick with a bad cold. Will write later. Just wanted to get in here with my latest tally on my second no-smoking challenge.

    No smoking -- Round 2 -- Day 2 completed

  • I have had a major, major emotional and financial blow and am really suffering for it, hating my life, hating myself. But, I'm going to just carry on and crawl out of this....staying off the cigs.

    No smoking -- Round 2 -- Day 3 completed
  • Just dropping in to say hi! and encourage you all in reaching your goals. I'm definitely on hiatus for now, starting to get blisters from the radiation treatments so they're encouraging less movement/friction. On the other hand, I'm still thinking about my next challenges; it seems the whole world opens up once rads are done. I've taken to going through previous posts to get ideas of challenges - you're all so inspiring! I can't wait to get back into it with you!
  • Sea, I really hope things go better for you soon.
    Nobody else around, eh?

    No smoking -- Round 2 -- Day 4 completed
  • I've been really good, especially considering that right now, I feel like jumping in front of a train...
I have also been "eating clean for the past three days." The fourth day is known as a killer. Here goes. Am adding the stealth.

    No smoking -- Round 2 -- Day 5 completed
Eat Clean -- Day 3 completed

  • just me and my lonesome, eh?
The day is not over but I refuse to blow this so I'm calling it NOW! The smoking wasn't a problem but I can feel the shift in my resolve on the eating clean part. It's much, much harder because I don't have the reason I want, not like the smoking thing where it was -- I'll be damned if I'm going to give the government, which doesn't allow me to vote, any more money! -- you see, health, looks, all those good things just don't crack it with this nutcase!

    No smoking -- Round 2 -- Day 6 completed
Eat Clean -- Day 4 completed

    jolly, lovely, where are you?

  • Well, Sunday morning here. Restful sleep last night. But, I DID get through the day as determined. Here's going for another week on the no smoking, which would make it a total of 4 weeks off the cigarettes. Eating clean is NO fun when you're as busy as I am. Grabbing junk and sweets was kind of fun. Must learn to look for other "rewards."
What happened to everyone? Did they just fall off the edge of the Earth?

  • No smoking -- Round 2 -- Day 7 completed
Eat Clean -- Day 5 completed
  • Just popping in for a quick Hi! to everyone, and I see that Red's been all alone! Where is everyone? My radiation treatents finish Wednesday, but with a new month starting I don't feel like waiting to start my challenges. So I'm going to keep to the basics, dive right in and keep Red company!

    1. Keep sodium between 500 and 1500 mg per day - Day 0 (3/3)
    2. Walk 5000 steps daily - Day 0 (3/3)
    3. Declutter 15 minutes per day - Day 0 (3/3)

Red - you're doing great! Are you feeling a difference in your energy levels since you quit smoking?
  • I got to the gym and did chest and back and arms and a bit of yoga and then 2 K on the bike. That is nothing (on the bike) I know but I had not been doing ANY cycling or running and figured just the walking I do outside was good, but now, since I'm losing fat from cutting calories I am motivated to do more and so I got on the bike today. Hurrah!

    No smoking -- Round 2 -- Day 8 completed
Eat Clean -- Day 6 completed

    **************

Sea -- Thanks for coming in!! I was really getting lonely and wondering where everyone was. That's really great that you are starting new challenges. Powerful!
It's hard to tell if there is a difference in my energy levels actually because last week I was hit with a very bad cold and couldn't really do anything. I usually have pretty good energy and work out with weights a lot. My skin is not really better so that's a bummer but, yeah, I guess, I do feel overall better. I don't think it's the smoking. Those changes were more obvious a month ago when I first stopped. Recently, I do feel more clear-headed and attribute that to eating clean, at this stage meaning no sugar and no processed foods. I am also eating a LOT less than normal and I definitely am losing fat. If only I can keep this up. I am amazed at how much fat there is on me still. The more I lose the more I notice it. Is that weird or what? Anyhow, thanks a lot for asking! It sure is nice to have someone in here again.
