Ceejay - Glad all is well in your corner of the world. Re gardening - I guess once I get used to being hot, sweaty, and grimy, it's alright, lol.
Shad - Sorry you're feeling washed out. Working at home (with naps interspersed) sounds good. You're absolutely right - if they don't know how to fix this horrible problem in the Gulf, and didn't imagine such a scenario of this magnitude in their disaster planning, they had no business being there.
Mel - Enjoy your quiet haven today. I've e-mailed the tv station with my volume complaint - we'll see what happens.
I had such a wonderful long weekend! I did not get near a computer from Friday through Monday. We didn't get out fishing, but I was busy and very active. No Zumba for this chick though....just lots of walking and gardening/working in the yard. I bought tomato, cucumber, yellow squash, zucchini and lettuce for my veggie garden, and also lots of flowers. I am really looking forward to an hour of Zumba tonight, along with Pilates, abs and strength training.
I am so excited for my trip. I leave a week from tomorrow! I know I will have to walk A LOT there and get in LOTS of exercise.
I've got lots to catch up on at work...so I've got to keep this short.
Annie - I do track what I eat every day and count my points. I think I just need to find a better balance of how many of my extra weekly allowance and exercise points I can eat. This weekend, my eating was pretty darn good in terms of points. Though I did have a couple Gatorades due to the heat. Truth be told, I am feeling very frustrated and depressed right now. I've been serious about this for nearly a year, and have only 26 lbs to show for it. And I'm realizing that while I can tell I've lost weight...I was probably thinner when I last saw my Southern California relatives six years ago...so they'll probably think I've put on a ton.
Laura - My pink peonies are in full bloom as well. The white peonies are still at the bud stage. We were watching the weather yesterday cuz we were supposed to get big storms like you did. But it was just muggy. All the storms stayed to the south. We're going to get our storms tonight and tomorrow.
Shad - Glad to hear your son is doing so well at his new job. Did Happy give you her virus? That's way too generous of her. Congrats to your son on getting the house rented. As for the TV, it does seem like certain stations are getting softer, but then of course the volume for commercials is ear shattering. It is SOOO sad what is happening to the wildlife of the Gulf Coast. It breaks my heart to watch it, both for the loss of sea creatures and loss of livelihoods.
Mel - Hope you had a nice relaxing weekend and are feeling better. The tea cup herb gardens are beautiful!
Ceejay - Hopefully the MRI will produce some good results. Did you have a nice quiet weekend at work?
Happy - I hope you're feeling better. It's no fun to be sick, especially in the summer and on a long weekend. Sounds like you worked hard all weekend and didn't get much rest. Hopefully the Vit. D you got from being outdoors will help you kick this bug. We haven't seen hummingbirds yet...but we have had lots of other birds and butterflies. Oh, and a 300 lb. black bear has been seen in the town just north of us (about 20 miles away). Hopefully he stays up there. What a coincidence...we are trying an upside down tomato planter for the first time as well. I'm using a variety called Patio (which is a compact, bushy plant that yields LOTS of medium size tomatoes). I've had LOTS of success growing Patio tomatoes right side up; we'll see how they do upside down.
I've got lots to get done so I'd better get to it. Happy June everyone!
Chelle...now, now, let's not get depressed and down about the weight loss. Let us look at the bright side.....being down 26 lbs is a heck of a lot better than being up 26 or MORE for the year. That is a lot to be proud of and happy about. Besides you really didn't work at it for the full year....so that even makes it a better success.....Plus the fact you have picked up some GREAT exercise habits that you LOVE...Ms. Zumba Queen! You R.O.C.K.,so just get happy and forget it about it. Hugs my sista.
Ceejay...glad work and storms are not blowing you away. We are expected to have rain all week including the weekend. Not looking forward to that. Actually had too much rain the garden is turning a bit yellowish.
Laura...work work work....time to play. Your flowers sound lovely. I planted a few impatience this past week or so ago. Only about 6 plants. Enough to give a bit of color to the flower bed along with the moss rose.
MELLIE...eyes doing better now? Just rest, my friend til completely healed.
Shaddie...not to mention the poor birdies that are completely covered with oil and can barely waddle much less even think about flying. It is so sad. Breaks my heart. I think they are trying a lot of different ideas to get the oil leak stopped but none are working. My biggest complaint is they are not moving fast enough and waiting too long to try things. We are like in week 6 and it takes them forever to start something new. I know, no one can hear me.
Happy...Sorry you are still feeling crappy. Wish I lived closer I would help with the yard work. I love being out in it, but have nothing else to do in my own little bitty yard. I am great at opening/closing pools as we had an inground for 16 years while married to the dumb*ss.
Went to a graduation and party for a friend's daughter. It was very nice however very hot. No air cond in the gym, then the party was outside. Hot and sweaty. Learned a little girl (sister to a boy my DS graduated with) had a all terraine accident the day of the graduation. She died as a result. Only 15 years old and going to be a sophomore at the high school. Her dad is the principal at the same high school, her mom a teacher at another high school in the area. Very sad.
Dad got disoriented going home from my house yesterday. He ended up out in the country about 15 miles east of my house. His car broke down. An older couple stopped to help him. Thank God. He used their cell phone to call my brother. My brother went and picked him up and had his car towed to a garage. I guess now we get to worry about my dad. I couldn't tell yesterday if dad was just off while at my house or severely depressed as he was very quiet. Probably a little bit of both.
Better get back to work. Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday or like me a messed up Monday..lol.
Doing well here Mel. I have the envelope all packed and ready to go, I put some stamps on it and then realised that since it is O/Seas mail I have to take it to the Post Office and prove who I am and insist that I have put nothing dangerous, incendiary, volatile or crappy in the envelope. Bollocks.
So tomorrow it goes to the Post Office and you will see something in around 10 days. Look for a bright yellow envelope with about 5 picture stamps of QE2 the person, not the boat. Daresay the PO will tell me that I am trying to cheat them out of revenue as well so there may be other stamps as well.
Thanks for the get well messages. I did go home yesterday. Slept the afternoon away, got up to watch the 7pm Project and Top Gear and then returned to bed.
But in the meantime - I need to get some work done. I'd better get on with it. Back at lunchtime to do personals
Hey Shaddie....Penny Penguin our little adoptee is so adorable. I know that is not the name, but thought it was cute. Glad you are feeling better my sista.
I cannot see any pictures when posting at work. So now that I am on at home, the pix of penguin, the summer avitar from Mellie along with all the memorial day, summer beach pix are wonderful and I really do like them a lot.
I have gotten more motion range with the shoulder/arm today, maybe because when I was putting on my blouse this morning, something snapped/popped in there and now it feels so much better. It has been 7 weeks so far, so I should be real close to being "fixed". lol.
brb, unloading dishwasher and reloading a few glasses.
Back and on the phone to best friend in St. Louis.
That pic of winter in Australia is - ONLY IN THE TROPICS - rest of it is covered with snow, rain, frost, wind, more rain, and general cold. No wonder the grey nomads are now moving north. Understandable when our beaches look like that.
GOOD MORNING CHICKS. I AM LOVING ALL THESE PICS OF WORLDLY ON SHAD'S POSTS HE IS TOO ADORABLE. I'M IN A BIT OF A RUSH.
