  • Smart Ones
For lunch I had a shrimp marinara Smart Ones. There was about enough food in it to get me thinking about having lunch! There were 3 tiny shrimp in it!! Hope they didn't overdo their quota on that! Shame on me, but I also had a Hot Pocket too. Thought I was starving!

I want to know why it is that NOBODY around here askes how the diet is going until you are BLOWING it away?! My husband asked me last night, and the boss's husband asked me today. I just don't want to admit failure, but guess it's me that has been failing myself.

Dang, that weight comes back so quick!

Vodka question--doesn't the Vodka have calories? I think the Crystal light and vodka drink sounds pretty good on a Friday afternoon though! That probably is way lower in calories than the 2 Mississippi Mud slides I had this week celebrating DS 21st birthday! No cake though!! I have to celebrate what I can! LOL

I do hope you all have a great weekend. I hope that you have beautiful weather, and NO more snow. I'm ready for Spring too!
  • TGIF yipeee and payday double yipeee

Oh yes you know what I was wrong on the calorie thing Vodka does have calories - the one I was drinking last night was 60 calories NOT 10 darn it but it is fat free unlike the beer so that is a good thing NO FAT

Holly you will get back on track soon and it will all drop right back off- Winter months just suck so bad- Hey but you are getting in your exercise daily so that is great

Well stayed on plan so far today and tonight already have it ready before we go serve at Steak Night at our club. I will weigh in tomorrow morning

Well I should get in shower and get ready so that part is out of the way
    Have a Great Friday

    Hi Tammy
  • good morning chicks, Happy Saturday. Woke to one of those freakin Winter Wonderland scenes, the snow is clinging to every branch and twig, oh so pretty guess we need to shovel/snow-blow before I can get out to work.

Yesterday, drumroll - I stayed on plan! woohoo. I think I succeeded because every time I started to think I was hungry, I reached for one of my healthy snacks I had brought ( cup of plain nonfat yogurt flavored with coffee powder; some nonfat dip with red pepper strips; a fruit and grain bar that was 130 calories) and I drank about 48 ounces of water.

I have had to just go ahead and sneak my snack eating even when I am stuck behind the register, at least I don't eat while I am ringing anyone up.

Colleen, you are so funny that Smart Ones lunch did sound more like a tiny appetizer! And hey, I would not say the word failure, we are all struggling, just pick up where you left off and plug on!

Reda, oh I guess it was too good to be true that the drink had almost no calories..but congrats on staying on program for another day, woo hoo!

    Hi Tammy

well I better finish up my coffee and then chose a workout
  • Good Saturday Morning- slept in today so only been up for about an hour
I did weigh in this morning and I finally lost 5 pounds so I know I can do it I just have to stay OP every day, which we all know it is just alot easier said then done

Tammy way to go staying OP yesterday as well- and working in convience stores sometimes you just don't have a choice but to eat in between customers, not fun or idea but it does happen every where- So what is the count down to summer job starting???

vodka and crystal light is still way better than beer- beer has carbs and fat and vodka doesn't so I can deal with a few calories.

You know the winter wonderland is always so pretty but it is a nuissance(sp) for every other aspect.

Ok girls I need to get some house cleaning done and go to store to get food for this next week - doing that has kept us both so OP this week so going to keep with that

    HI Tammy and Colleen
  • Ok well it is Sunday which means back to the grindstone and early mornings tomorrow

Not much going on around here today - I just spent the last hour putting everything in containers to get ready for this week- DH keeps wanting to go out to eat or eat more so I did up his portions a couple of ounces and told him we are not going out to eat until Thursday- I will eat at home first and he can have wings.

I have my will power back and it feels great, not sure what has happened but I lost it about this time last year but hey I am determined now....
I do believe I am going to try to up my exercise starting tomorrow, this 30 minutes is better than nothing but in all reality it just probably isn't cutting it I am hoping that I only have this week left of early mornings then I should be back to a normal shift but probably still have to drive over there for another week or so........

Well girls hope your Sunday was peaceful - I know Holly yours was probably super busy at work with all the snow you just got makes the day go by faster

I will check back in tomorrow
  • good evening chicks Reda I am clapping and high five-ing you for doing up all your food in advance, and have 'getting your groove back'!! that is so great

I did 30 Day Shred level 2 today; and that made working out 27 out of 28 days this month. That is good I know, however I seem to have been falling out of control with eating, i had that 1 on-plan day and then not again but I will keep trying each day.

    Hi Tammy! Hi Colleen!

OOOO tomorrow is March 1st, Spring is coming!
  • Good Morning Ladies,

Sorry I have been MIA. As you all know, I am struggling a bit with my son leaving and also with my sister (she is suicidal again). So, I gave up, swallowed my pride and decided to go get some medicine to help me through this. Well, I did..... and it has made me soooo sick. I have been nauseated so bad. So.... be careful what you wish for b/c you may get it. I am less than 5 pounds away from goal now b/c I have been so sick. I was told it would do this to me for a week.

CC: You are doing so great with your WL. I am glad you got your groove back. I have to stand firm against my DH too b/c if it was up to him we would live on Chinese!

Holly: Are you loving all the snow and business?

Colleen: Have you got the book yet? I read one of your earlier posts that says you are a "failure". I don't think so..... you fail when you give up and then end up 500 pounds...... just hang in there. Maybe make little steps like switching your bread from white bread to something like an orowheat thin (the new thing that came out). It has more fiber and more protein and less calories than bread. Then when that is acceptable to you...... then switch something else to a healthier version. If you look at my WL, on average I have only lost (and kept off) 1 pound or a little more a week. I did not want it to take that long..... but what is the alternative--- to stay the weight I was? Hang in there...... we are not perfect but we keep trying! Just think, by Christmas you could be getting new leathers.

I read someone else's post (I think it was Lori Bell) who started her WL journey on March 4th. Why? B/c one of her school teachers told her that was great day to "March 4th with your life" or something to that nature...... I thought that was cool. Like Holly said, Spring is coming...... and we are sooo excited! Oh, btw, I did ride Saturday but it was a miserable one (I did not know they existed). I was cold (my hands b/c I wear the cute gloves and not the warm ones) and I was sick to my stomach. I gave up after an hour and told DH I just wanted to go home. So we did.

Well, I am going to get busy.

    Tammy
  • Hello- I just wanted to report that it was warm enough like 31 degrees today so we went out to garage and started up the bikes, mine started right up but we keep a tender on mine as instructed DH's took a bit because of the 350 motor and no choke but it did finally start and boy it sounded great to hear them run SO READY FOR SPRING and RIDING

Tammy sorry your ride was miserable on Saturday. I was talking to DH and trying to figure out where to take our bikes for the next month or so because of all the snow once it starts melting our long driveway is not paved and it will be nothing but a mess and I know the first half way decent day we get I will want to ride .......

Colleen I agree taking little steps to begin with is a great suggestion- you know my first step years ago was switching my bread from white to Sara Lee 45 calories wheat and it took DH about a year to switch but he finally did to, I also switched my shredded cheese to 2% along with fat free singles - I don't use cheese often but when I do this is what the whole family uses, I do the shopping so they don't get a choice on that either

Wow I love the "March 4th with your life"

Holly you have done a SUPER JOB with your exercise 27 out of 28 days that is great

Well girls I am happy to report that I have still stayed OP again today and alll weekend however when you are sitting around watching TV and the food commerials come on boy it makes your mind wander good thing I don't have any snack/junk food in my house or I would have probably ate it

Well I better get off here and get a few things done
    Have a Great Evening
  • I'm back!
I got the book from Tammy in the mail last night when I got home at 10:00. I started reading it right away. By 11:30 I was bushed, and fell asleep reading! I am hoping that all the goodness in the book, seeped into my brain while I was snoozing! I really didn't get too far yet, but thank you very much Tammy! I will give it a try earlier tonight when I'm not exausted.

Busy weekend, and busy Monday too.

Yesterday we found out that the house sale is going through for sure! The buyers got financing and we upped the closing a week to March 12!! We have been busy counting our chickens before they were hatched, so it's good this is going to go through! We've been looking at cars and sheds. We have opted to go with a normal shed verses the pole barn style, bigger shed. For vehicles we like the GMC Terrain. Small SUV, good gas mileage. After we pay what we have to on the house to avoid Mortgage insurance, build a shed, do a driveway and get a car...the house $ will be gone. Still a big relief though!

We worked on clearing the garage in the sold house, to have a rummage sale at the new house. DH selling lots of garage goodies. If we didn't need it, it's going. Gave lots to the kids too. Several things we had doubles of.

Weight is the same. This morning I had Wally worlds brand of Raisin Bran...great except I never found even 1 raisin!!! Disappointing start to the day.

You guys sound like you are doing great! Good job staying OP and exercising! It's tougher than it sounds!

Work is starting out rough already...better get on with the day!

    Take care!
  • Good Morning Ladies,

CC- You have gotten through the roughest part of the "diet"-- the weekend. You are soooo rocking it! I am glad you are close to not being on the early shift.
I am sorry you have not gotten to ride yet this year. It will be spring before you know it. Just keep making ride plans and keep 'em charged up.

Holly- hope you have not been too awful busy with work. I know you are still exercising your butt off.

Colleen- I fell asleep through the first part of the book where it talked about the lab rats and fruit loop studies. But, the part about restaurants is pretty interesting. Makes you re-think what "real" food is.
I heard a guy on the TV last week who had lost 100+ pounds, he was told by his dietician that if it was not a food 100 years ago...... it is not one now. Kinda makes sense. Just do what works for YOU. And btw, sorry about the non-raisin-- raisin bran. Lol. Maybe you should get you a small box just in case.

Okay, now that I feel half way human again, I can kinda talk.... I know that at least 2/3 of you have struggled with the "D" (depression) word. I have been in such a funk the past few weeks. But, the medication seems to be helping a little bit. I went to the doctor before it got too horribly bad and she talked to me like a human and what she said made a lot of sense. She said that some people b/c of their past (or what their parents did while they were in the womb) are just predispositioned to have a chemical imbalance. She said that he knows that I am a strong willed person, but I cannot will this away. I told her I did not want to take medicine long term.... she asked me if I would take it if I had diabetes or high blood pressure. I told her I would, she said it is no different. It is not a weakness (which I how I was viewing it). So, I accepted the medication and plan to stay on it. DH says he notices a difference already in my mood. He said it is like the storm cloud has lifted, which is kinda the way I felt. The 5 day nausea I had was just a "bonus" for WL, I guess. ROFL. Anyway, I do feel better. I guess my son going off and my sister being suicidal triggered some of it (the doctor told me I "could" get as bad as my sister IF I don't get the right combination of medicine and stick with it). So..... away we go.

Sorry for the extra long post..... I do feel a bit better...... so I guess I am extra wordy.
  • Colleen, I forgot to tell ya..... I am happy for the sale of your house! That is GREAT that it sold in these hard times! Woo Hoo for you. I know it will take some off your shoulders.!
  • The D word...
It's a tough time. From experience, don't think your feeling so great and go off the meds on your own. I thought I could get by without the medication. It wasn't a good idea. After making my family put up with me for a couple of years as a big bear (I thought it was them that had the problem!) I got back on some meds when the other Big D word came up. I'm happy (most of the time) and can usually hold my tongue when I need to, but I didn't today (Boss was a brat--I spoke up).

I like the quote that if it wasn't a food before, it still isn't...but how long ago was Kraft Mac and Cheese invented? Hummm...maybe I should think on that! "In 1937, Kraft macaroni and cheese hit the grocery shelves in the U.S. and Canada, and soon it became a huge success." 73 years should be close enough right?!!

Today I was told, as I was eating my Smart One's lasagna meal, that people that eat at least 1 preportioned meal a day will lose weight faster than those that don't. Portioning I'm sure is the secret. And my biggest downfall!

DH bike started right up last weekend, but mine needs a battery charge. He teased me, but I teased back that IF I didn't have to use his OLD hand-me-down bike, mine would start too! Hehe!

Tonights plan is to search the house for items unneeded to go in a rummage sale. Having recently moved, I don't have a lot, but I'm sure I can find some stuff! Last night I took back a pile of unused stuff from Menard's that we didn't ever get to installing. 2 windows, some latches, 2 boxes of tile, 2 outside lights...$250 worth of STUFF that we would have gotten $20 for at a rummage sale! DH would have NEVER taken anything back to a store. I didn't mind--I appologized ahead of time to the poor gal. She was very nice. We have more that could go back too, but it's dirty and dusty plumbing supplies from being in the garage--That, I would be too embarrased to take back!

Be good. Hope you are all doing well.
  • Whooo Hooo on the house selling Colleen that is awesome news
GMC Terrains are nice looking vehicles but of course I could never have a Chevy/GMC product in our driveway since DH is a mechanic for Ford Motor Co. However he does have a Chevy 350 in his Boss Hoss.......

Tammy sorry to hear about all that is going on right now but you are going in the right direction by seeing your Doc and getting your medication- I personally am not on any (don't know how with all the crap in my younger years that I had to put up with family wise) but I do have a couple of friends that tried fighting it and then finally went to Doc and yes it does make a huge difference and once they started it they could see the difference as well as all of us around. Great that you made it in the 170's even though it took being sick to get there

Oh and Colleen I don't think Mac n Cheese is old enough to count to funny

Well portioning has been working for me plus of course not eating anything unhealthy- actually no sugars, carbs, or starches besides the natural sugars in the fruit

HI Holly hope all is going well for you today - wait isn't this your Friday?
